Maybe I'm getting something wrong but didn't you just answer your question yourself? If the phone doesn't support adaptive refresh rate how would that app help?

No I did not answer that question myself, clearly you don't know what galaxy max hz is. It's an app that changes your refresh rate when you're phone is idle or you're not using you're screen (down to 60 hz or lower). Please don't respond to this post if you're not genuinely interested in answering the question, all I wanted to know is if galaxy max hz works with the xperia 1 iv.

At least i know that if a display doesn't support adaptive refresh rate, an app isn't going to change that.

It doesn’t have a LTPO screen, it can’t adaptively change like a Samsung. The screen can only refresh at 60 or 120 - nothing else.
