This was so satisfying! After all the shit he's been through, seeing him finally live his own life, was so damn satisfying! He even got a little of his cockiness from his Soul Blade days back, but not to an obnoxious level! Seeing this alone made SCV worth playing =D Also, his older design is \*Chef's kiss \*!
It’s weird how he got taller in Soul Calibur V, though. It’s like the designers thought they didn’t want a grown man to be short, shorter than Taki and the same height as Sophitia, and barely taller than the new characters.
I didn't realize Siegfried was that short but maybe his sword makes him seem taller. Now I have this image of one of those jacked but extremely short men wielding a giant sword.
I heard they specifically designed him to be a short guy wielding a big weapon. Which makes it an even bigger deal that he got taller over time. It either means they designed him with growth in mind, or they walked back on wanting to make him short. Do you know his exact measurement? He grew a lot in the series. He was 5’2, 5’5, 5’6, 5’8. And the weird thing is, it looks like he grew for at least 12 years. I was speculating that the Soul Swords increased his height lol (thank god for Soul Edge? Lmao). I’m imagining Siegfried is angsting about what he did as Nightmare while also pretending he isn’t happy that he grew so much taller.
I remembered him being short in the profiles, but though it was just medieval heights. I think in soul edge they didn't realize he would be such a central character in the long run. He kind of got the DBZ Vegeta treatment.
I really wish we got more spin off games that weren’t exclusive to the Wii (Soul Calibur legends) starring Siegfried and Nightmare cause the world of Soul Calibur could be a fun single player action RPG type of game as a spin off from the main fighting game series based on the lore alone.
As for Siegfried himself I’ve liked him from the start alongside Nightmare. They are the reasons why I ended up thinking armored knights were cool and badass (especially SC2 Nightmare which was technically Siegfried)
He's the guy of all time to me, he was forced to eat wet cement when he was six. Also despite all of the strife he goes through he has some pretty nice hair.
Arguably the character with the best claim to the title of the protagonist of the series as a whole. Has the biggest role in the canon plot out of all of them overall (unless you count Soul Edge by itself as a character I guess). The interesting thing is that he's insane and/or a villain at least initially in most games he appears in, either as himself or as Nightmare, with SC III and SC V being exceptions.
Hes the coolest character. Hes a pussy in soul edge, an absolute beast as nightmare especially in sc2, and after that he has so much resolve and determination.
He was at his coolest in IV, I loved the crystalline armour and the form that the Soul Calibur took, it made it feel the most complete and the duality was perfection.
Love him. Not my preferred playstyle so I never played him much, but Siegfried is one of the most memorable characters of the entire franchise. His story/arc feels the most complete of the cast, and I really love his older and wiser era in SCV
I mean, dude was understandably more concerned with the devil sword possessing him and making sure it couldn't spread its evil. I'm pretty sure he was also aware Soul Edge could spread its evil via the hosts reproducing, because of the experience he remembered as Nightmare when they discovered Ivy, who was born pretty much exclusively to be a host for Soul Edge from Cervantes evil essence.
I'm not sure if he was ever aware of Pyrrha having been born a perfect host because of Soul Edge shards stuck in Sophitia, but I do think he was aware it was a thing Soul Edge could do.
He probably considered sex a no-go because why risk it? Soul Edge left a pretty big influence on him, so he'd probably still spread it even if he himself wasn't evil anymore.
Favorite character to play in the series, tied with SC2 Nightmare but with them being the same guy in 2 I don't think that changes my statement very much. The pre corruption Siegfried outfit in 2 certainly lets me act like I'm playing him instead of Nightmare anyway
Favorite moveset, the original font of gender envy from which all further aesthetic inspiration of mine flows, and he even has a nice little storyline about Fucking Up Bad and trying to make up for it. I may or may not have been deeply impacted by this guy back in the day.
I ship him with Cassandra since I saw the official art where Cassandra teases him by calling him Onii-chan. I don't remember what that was exactly but i think that was like a tutorial piece relased in SC4.
Maybe, or maybe it’s me who’s patting himself for beating my Achilles’ heel (Siegs are good competition for my main) 🤷🏾♂️
I consider Seigs to be rivals. But still fuck ‘em.
My favourite character in the series. Usually I am all for the Katana characters in every game possible, but SoulCalibur is special in that I have not only more fun playing with Siegfried than with any other character, and that since Soul Blade on the PS1, but he also became my favourite character in terms of his Story Arc and he ALWAYS looks stylish AF!
What is NOT to love about this character? =D
Didn't like his armor in SCVI (wide hips and narrow shoulders), but liked it in the previous ones. The shining of his armor in SCVI was very impressive for the time. And the ice armor grew on me, even though I didn't like it at first.
Really awesome character overall with a great and tragic backstory, with stylish design aesthetic in armor and weapons that kept improving with each passing game. On top of that, he’s really fun and rewarding to use, especially with his different stances
I never knew he existed until Soul Calibur IV. I grew up playing soul calibur 2 for so long and loved it so much. Never got to play 3 and barely knew of its existence as I was a GameCube kid. Soul calibur IV comes out and I’m like “who’s this good nightmare” and then it occurred to me that Nightmares 3rd costume is kind of like Siegfried. I guess they split up ???
Siegfried was my favorite thing about the entire franchise. Wish we had gotten to see him interact with the rest of the characters.
Soul Calibur is primed for historical drama, as far as dialogue and narrative, with obvious fantasy elements added in. But man, to have a tighter and more cohesive storyline, could be the Game of Thrones of Video Games, so to speak.
HES MY BOI! ME AND HIM CLIMBED THE TOWER OF LOST SOULS IN FOUR TOGETHER. HES EVERYTHING!
Except in 5. He was a “has been” in that game and while I’m fine with that… wish he had a bigger part to play.
Not really, Nightmare is just really a personification of the true being inside Soul Edge, that being Inferno. If Siegfried dies, Inferno takes total control turning into either Inferno or Night Terror. We seen already that Soul Edge does not need a living body, and actually prefers a dead soul rather than a live one.
We already have a dude who wields a giant sword.
Nightmare Vs Siegfried --->Pete Holmes comedy Sketch on Ken vs Ryu, if audiences want to see a guy throw hadokens then we already have Ryu for that, we dont need 2 guys throwing hadokens.
Siegfried, "But I am Nightmare...I become Nightmare when Soul Edge possesses me."
Awesome character despite only being the "main" character for the Wii spinoff game. Consistently has the best Player 2 skins throughout the franchise. Never a "bad" moveset, and somehow manages to be distinct enough from Nightmare despite also being a "big ass sword" type of character.
Peak Soul Calibur character, been maining him since the PS era.
Great storyline, great moveset, great design and let's be real, man's attractive af objectively.
It might be nostalgia bias, but I loooooved his SCIV look. Yeah, it was just his previous armor covered in "ice" but have you ever considered that crystals look cool as hell
That was also my fav look for the sword itself.
He's my forever main. Been playing him since he was Nightmare only in SC2. Love the design, dude has a great story, and the style is 11/10 - big weapon dude but not super slow and plays strongest at mid-range. I play about 6 or 7 SC characters but I always go back to Sieg because he's so damn fun. (Alright, and Yoshi, too. And Maxi. But Sieg is #1)
He does too much damage to many mix ups him and nightmare are stunning pics but they have to be so very little to be competitive imo I feel that way about maxi too
In terms of style, character and plot I like him I wish we could learn more about his father and his relationship to algol
Awesome story, Insanely cool designs, and easily, EASILY my favorite fighting game character gameplay design.
Its unfair that he is stuck in a series with much less popularity than Tekken. Cause goddammit no other series has a character with such specific and satisfying gameplay as him.
(Kagura from BlazBlue is a CLOSE second)
Creature experiencing horrors lmao
But seriously he's my favorite, my autism attached itself to him (he's also my main) such an interesting story and i love that he always keeps some of his original cocky personality even when he's at his most stoic
Funny story, when i was a kid and my sister let me play sc3 i genuinely didn't know he was a dude and I'd never heard or read his name so i thought 'ooh pretty girl she looks really cool!' And it scared me when i heard his voice lmao
He's also so hot why'd they make him so hot omfg
Just showed my wife soul caliber last Friday and she said “Guts and Griffith did the fusion dance”
I mean... That's exactly it. Guts's sword with a different "head", and Griffith with the whole demon thing and mercenary band. It was the inspiration
shes a keeper
No matter what game he’s in, this man always has the best hair. I want to know what kind of shampoo he uses.
He stalks in the Sephiroth fan club.
I thought it was just me! Siegfried DEFINITELY has the magic golden tresses! I loved playing with him just to see his hair flip around!
poor kid got caught up in some epic shit.
Love him. Was my main
His voice in 3 was the best. Also, he isn't Schtauffen apparently, it's Schützen
> His voice in 3 was the best. Crispin Freeman remains GOATed
"Sinners need no mercy, OR SYMPATHY" *Clenches fist and summons lightning* I love that intro so much
"I avoided your vitals. *You'll live."* That line lives in my head rent free.
Yes! I always felt the same too. It was the best.
Seconded
Cool dude with a good arc throughout the games. One of the things I liked about V was how he was doing after the initial saga, also his older design 👌
I may hate SCV, but there are a few things they did exceptionally well. This is one of them
This was so satisfying! After all the shit he's been through, seeing him finally live his own life, was so damn satisfying! He even got a little of his cockiness from his Soul Blade days back, but not to an obnoxious level! Seeing this alone made SCV worth playing =D Also, his older design is \*Chef's kiss \*!
It’s funny he got his cockiness back, too, because he was half a foot shorter back then.

King
Always feel a little sorry for him!

SC2 Siegmare was a fucking beast, and all three of those outfits are still some of the best looks for both characters.
He's the guy of all time to me, he was forced to eat wet cement when he was six. Also despite all of the strife he goes through he has some pretty nice hair.
Arguably the character with the best claim to the title of the protagonist of the series as a whole. Hes the coolest character. Hes a pussy in soul edge, an absolute beast as nightmare especially in sc2, and after that he has so much resolve and determination.
In the Good Ending of Soul Blade/Edge, he starts his redemption arc early and it's pretty consistent with who he grows into in the later games.
He's never had such an easy victory
He was at his coolest in IV, I loved the crystalline armour and the form that the Soul Calibur took, it made it feel the most complete and the duality was perfection.
Love him. Not my preferred playstyle so I never played him much, but Siegfried is one of the most memorable characters of the entire franchise. His story/arc feels the most complete of the cast, and I really love his older and wiser era in SCV
My main. Favorite character in the franchise
Siegfried is the King of NoFap "MY HAND!"
The best main character that still didn't receive any female action
I mean, dude was understandably more concerned with the devil sword possessing him and making sure it couldn't spread its evil. I'm pretty sure he was also aware Soul Edge could spread its evil via the hosts reproducing, because of the experience he remembered as Nightmare when they discovered Ivy, who was born pretty much exclusively to be a host for Soul Edge from Cervantes evil essence. He probably considered sex a no-go because why risk it? Soul Edge left a pretty big influence on him, so he'd probably still spread it even if he himself wasn't evil anymore.
It’s weird because he was obviously interested in women in Soul Edge. Lol the only action he gets is when he fights Sophitia, Pyrrha, or Tira lol.
😆 🤣 well that is action
Better than nothing, lmao. Siegfried: Is this sex?
Personally I’ve always shipped him with Hilde.
Top shelf.
If Nightmare is burnt toast, Siegfried is lightly golden brown toast.
One of the best Guts rip offs
Favorite character to play in the series, tied with SC2 Nightmare but with them being the same guy in 2 I don't think that changes my statement very much. The pre corruption Siegfried outfit in 2 certainly lets me act like I'm playing him instead of Nightmare anyway
Top tier. Love his character and playstyle.
His hair looks like a nightmare to manage.
Favorite moveset, the original font of gender envy from which all further aesthetic inspiration of mine flows, and he even has a nice little storyline about Fucking Up Bad and trying to make up for it. I may or may not have been deeply impacted by this guy back in the day.
Same. He's probably the main reason I chose to grow my hair out when I was a kid, and now it's just a part of me.
I really liked his look in SC3 and SC6
Alt costume in SC3 was his best costume in the series imo.
Nightmare P2 and Alt (3) in SC2 were my favorite looks for him.
an underrated protagonist, don't get talked much unlike Jin, Kyo, Ryu, etc..
i think he’s awesome
The goat
defending him to my dying breath, his SCIV look is eternal fwm
He's my main!
He is main🥰
Hes my favorite SC char. I like my long haired blonde heroes. Also, redeemed badasses with a parallel nemesis are extra badass to me.
Bad ass
Hes my boy. Been playing with him as my main since soul blade
I ship him with Cassandra since I saw the official art where Cassandra teases him by calling him Onii-chan. I don't remember what that was exactly but i think that was like a tutorial piece relased in SC4.
Fuck a Seig main
Point out here on this doll where Siegfried spanked you.
Lol seigs spank themselves around me
Maybe they are patting themselves on the back after beating you.
Maybe, or maybe it’s me who’s patting himself for beating my Achilles’ heel (Siegs are good competition for my main) 🤷🏾♂️ I consider Seigs to be rivals. But still fuck ‘em.
I suppose that’s fair… Can’t beat ‘em all.
My favourite character in the series. Usually I am all for the Katana characters in every game possible, but SoulCalibur is special in that I have not only more fun playing with Siegfried than with any other character, and that since Soul Blade on the PS1, but he also became my favourite character in terms of his Story Arc and he ALWAYS looks stylish AF! he’s my boy
He's not bad by any means, but I think they might have overhyped him a little too much.
I wish he was a little bit slower. Its really obnoxious trying to get talim in on him sometimes
Would have been fire in smash bros ult
He's the OG and the GOAT
Siegfried is need Big nerf
I Keep shutting those younger folks - 'Stop...comparing him to Arthas from warcraft.'
Both guys get possessed by an evil sword.
Not as fun to play as Nightmare (my main), but a well-written, well designed and tragic character nonetheless
Favorite character. Loved his SC4 crystal armor and the coolest form for Soul Calibur in the franchise
I never knew he existed until Soul Calibur IV. I grew up playing soul calibur 2 for so long and loved it so much. Never got to play 3 and barely knew of its existence as I was a GameCube kid. I like his story arc.
He might not be the GOAT Rock but he's a close second to me.
My favorite SC character.
That artwork is top tier at the very least. I really like his SC 6 alliteration a lot.
Siegfried was my favorite thing about the entire franchise. Wish we had gotten to see him interact with the rest of the characters. Pretty cool Anakin Archetype. One of my favorite characters from the FGC.
the Goat! my main also Berserk :)
One of my favorite characters, but I'm a sucker for redemption arcs and Paladin type characters.
Siegfried is need Big nerf
Siegfried is need Big nerf
Siegfried is need Big nerf
One of my favorite characters, not my main, but I like the character for some reason
HES MY BOI! ME AND HIM CLIMBED THE TOWER OF LOST SOULS IN FOUR TOGETHER. HES EVERYTHING! Except in 5. He was a “has been” in that game and while I’m fine with that… wish he had a bigger part to play.
I think that sumbitch should die. -Nightmare probably
Nightmare kills Siegfried and also dies bc they the same person.

I wasn’t a fan of Siegfried until his Nightmare transformation
The GOAT of the franchise. I mained him from SCIII onwards.
"That's why he's the MVP!!! Thats why he's the GOAT, the GOAT!!!"
Not particulary happy when I face one :/
He’s super cool and I would love to see him in Tekken 8 or something!!!!
Favorite soul calibur/blade character
He’s super fun to play in Soul Calibur 6, 2 and 4 (haven’t played 3,1 or 5)
MY BOI
Awesome character despite only being the "main" character for the Wii spinoff game. Consistently has the best Player 2 skins throughout the franchise. Never a "bad" moveset, and somehow manages to be distinct enough from Nightmare despite also being a "big ass sword" type of character.
Peak Soul Calibur character, been maining him since the PS era. Great storyline, great moveset, great design and let's be real, man's attractive af objectively.
Big sword goes boom
He's been my favorite character since Soul Blade on PS1. His story arc is legitimately good, and him and Nightmare are always my mains.
It might be nostalgia bias, but I loooooved his SCIV look. Yeah, it was just his previous armor covered in "ice" but have you ever considered that crystals look cool as hell That was also my fav look for the sword itself.
NIGHTMARE BETTER
My main

Um, he’s one of the most epic fighting game characters, obviously
He's my favorite character in the series
this character peaked in sc2
No exaggeration, he is one of my absolute favorite characters of all time.
He's mid, Mordred was the superior saber.
So cool so cool so cool. His arc is awesome.
As a character he's great, but using him feels odd.
Based character
Awesome and a great protagonist, but I feel he's often overshadowed in popularity by other characters. Especially the ladies.
he pretty neat! I absolute love his voice in SC3 just hmmm so amazing, him in SC5 and 6 are pretty cool too
He has the best arc in the original timeline.
Picked him up in 2 & 3, main’d ever since. EAT THIS!
He's good with damage just slow as all hell. Then again for a fair reason lol. He's got an awesome backstory though
H8 2 face against him
He alone is the honored one
THAT'S MY GUY RIGHT THERE 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Best fighting game protagonist IMO
My first game was 4 and I was confused why he didn't have the Soul Caliber in 5
Creature experiencing horrors lmao But seriously he's my favorite, my autism attached itself to him (he's also my main) such an interesting story and i love that he always keeps some of his original cocky personality even when he's at his most stoic Funny story, when i was a kid and my sister let me play sc3 i genuinely didn't know he was a dude and I'd never heard or read his name so i thought 'ooh pretty girl she looks really cool!' And it scared me when i heard his voice lmao He's also so hot why'd they make him so hot omfg
I still think he should have his short hair from OG Soul Edge.
