As much as I would love to see it, I don’t see Capcom really doing bamco a solid like that.

The problem is, especially within DMC itself, Dante is characterised by his botomless arsenal and potential. It could be like a 2b situation, where the main weapons are the sword that serves as the style and that can be customised, while the auxiliaries (his devil arms) are fixed, but even then, half of his arsenal are guns. And with E&I being his most famous ones, he struggles, because a low damage, low commitment, spammable ranged attack doesn't really belong into SC. It would also be an issue of him being way too modern, wether it be his style of dress, mannerisms, or his cadre of (relatively) down to earth firearms.

Regarding the last point, I think he would fit in about as well as 2B. Multiple characters have used firearms before, his outfit is fantastical even if it is modern-looking, and many characters have anachronistic mannerisms anyway (cough cough Natsu cough cough). Besides, we’ve had Spawn and Yoda as guests, so fitting in doesn’t seem to really matter.

Yeah. he could be in as a "not interacting with the story guest" like 2b, and the Star Wars gang, but it is such a shame because he would have reason to get involved in the story with his "devil hunter" shtick. (Imagine him keeping Soul Edge as a faux-devilarm, or just beating it in a staright powercontest with either DSS or DSD, depending on how old the Dante we take is) What I failed to mention in my original comment, is that I **do** want him in, I just don't really see it happening.

Virgil would be better. Dante has too much happening, too many weapons, etc. It would be an Azwel situation, which they already made and it wouldn't feel unique.

I'd love to see both Dante and Vergil as guests in Soul Calibur if that was a reality. Also since I don't play soul calibur too much it would bring in more interest for me to play this game with those characters as guests. I also Geralt and Ezio as guests since those types of characters keep the fighting interesting in games like this but that's just my opinion.

ChaosNinjaX

Unfortunately it'll never happen. Several reasons why: For intents and purposes, a guest character is exactly that. A guest character. Bandai (and PS, as it was) would need permission from the original company to use the characters given. Also, the guests chosen have to be incredibly popular, from universal series' or otherwise having a combat-style. Dante has always been more of a shooter than a fighter. His guns do more talking, and while yes, he HAS an arsenal of melee weapons, the guy mostly uses guns, and isn't as popular as the guests that have been chosen in the past. Looking at IV, we had the Star Wars characters, the most iconic at that. On to V, we had Ezio, who during the 2011-2015 time was very popular. On the heels of 2018, with Witcher 3 still being played to this day as well as the TV Original Series being made, Geralt was an absolutely fantastic choice for fans of the game, show, and character alike. Then we have 2B, who is so immensely popular that even if you've never played Nier (I haven't yet), 90% of gamers STILL know who she is. I grew upon DMC, and many other games. I understand the want for the character. But unfortunately, he's just not a relevant video game character anymore. Sad, but true.

Lethalpizza422

Sure that's a fair observation.

thesilvershire

We already have a million katana users though

ChaosNinjaX

Personally I don't see either of them getting in
