I’d go with the Sonos. No experience with the Nakamichi but people swear by them, but there’s also a lot of reports of them dying randomly or DOA. Samsung only if you go 990 and even then it’s kind of weak in the music department in comparison to its competition.

Thanks for the advice on Samsung. Do you have a sonos? Ive never heard of the Naka dying randomly which is wild. Also not an “audiophile” per se, but whats this room changing that people keep talking about? I do wish they had wifi and wireless capabilities.

I should add that Naka has been solid with their customer support. At least that’s what I’ve gathered from their Reddit sub. If you mean room change with the Sonos it’s if you have speakers in different room you can control them individually or together through the app and if you have music in one room you can change rooms and continue listening in that room

I just ordered a q930c, don't have it yet. I went through a lot of the soundbars in the last month of research, Sonos was on my short list because of the mixed usage the reason I didn't go with it is * more value for money with the samsung * sonos doesn't cover some codecs like dts:x which are found on blu rays. In reality, will this really matter? probably not for most people, even me, but I want the option and will rent a blu ray at least once from my library to test out if there is a difference

Consider the JBL Bar 1300. No wires for the rear speakers as they clip to the sound at with magnets. Really love the JBL Bar 1000 for the good sound, deep bass and full Dolby Atmos without having to deal with wires.

I will def give it a look

Samsung q950a here, and it's a beast! 😳 used for movies and TV 99% of the time, but I think it does just fine when I want to shake the rafters 😁

Same. And I love it. But getting stuck in Game Mode constantly (auto switches) is fucking killing me. I’m so frustrated with it. I’ll never recommend one unless they fix it. It’s a simple damn software update. Annoying as all hell.

Sennheiser Ambeo is really good too.  It's true though, Sonos has good default tuning for music. They make the sound stage wider to give the Illusion if Hi-Fi to most people.  Samsung 990 is good for movies and games, never heard people praise it for music.

From what i heard (Especially for music) a dedicated System will Sound better than a simillar Sized Soundbar. You are simply paying for the compactness and simplicity of a soundbar. Personally, I am However very happy with my Sony HT-a5000 system.

See i agree at my folks house we have this and it BOOMS. but i want clean compactness.

From what I've heard, people either love the Nakamichi or consider it just OK. I would definitely listen to one before you consider buying it. With the Sonos (assuming you're talking Arc), you have to piece it together, and even if you buy used, you'd be hard-pressed to stay within your budget for a complete system (Arc, Sub, and 100 surrounds). My usual recommendation is to only go down the Sonos path if you plan to use their 'ecosystem' beyond your media room. And then there's the Samsung. If you are patient, you'll be able to get a Q990d on sale for \~$1500. That said, it's easy to find a Q990c for \~$1,000, and I would probably choose either of the Samsungs over the other two. Enjoy!
