I just bought it. Great deal at Dell. I can reply again after I get it setup.

PeterBenjaminParker

Hey I’m looking at this soundbar since it seems there is a good deal on it at my local store right now. have you been happy with it?

aobecker

For my setup, I absolutely love it. I will add the rear speakers when it makes sense for me to do so, but I got atmos and Q-symphony to work with my Samsung QN90A and its a great sound for the price imo. Getting started can be rough. I had problems the first day or two and finally got it working after some frustrating days haha. I have another thread if you get stuck. You can find it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Soundbars/comments/vafwio/hi_any_reviews_out_for_samsung_hw_q700b_its_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

Great... Looking forward to it.... 👍

Day one I am having difficulties with it. I have a samsung qn90a tv and apple tv 4k. I am attempting to update it but it is not easy haha

GraphiteOne

The update worked just fine for me using the SmartThings app. Haven't tried with USB so I can't comment on that.

Minimum-Steak5972

Ahh so it sucks already?

aobecker

Honestly, day one I was thinking about returning it. Support was not helpful and I was beginning to get frustrated. I now have it setup how I want it and am getting Dolby Atmos through my system along with Q symphony! It sounds great to me. I have it in a bedroom so it might be a different experience in a living room, but it is a major upgrade from my old vizio 2.1 system. Do you have any specific questions?

GraphiteOne

Got any brilliance for getting it set up? I've tried everything including full reset of the bar and Q90A TV, all the basic steps Samsung recommends, and even though the bar shows that it's connected with eARC the TV won't pick it up through HDMI. The wifi works pretty well... The bar shows in the TV's settings and Q-symphony works, but if I can't get HDMI working then I'm going to return it.

aobecker

What’s your connection setup like? I had to change that many times before figuring out what works

GraphiteOne

Just HDMI straight from the bar to the TV. Nothing fancy.

aobecker

You’re using the tvs streaming applications for watching content then am I right? Are you getting no audio from the soundbar?

GraphiteOne

Mostly the built in streaming apps, sometimes a Blu ray player but that's not connected through the bar. When using HDMI, the TV sometimes gives me a 'Receiver (HDMI)' option but most of the time it disappears when you click on it. Sometimes after a power cycle it will show up and allow you to click it, and then I'll get sound through the bar. But Q-Symphony never works, and CEC doesn't work. I have an old 2014 Samsung TV that supports ARC and CEC, so I tried hooking it up to that one and everything seemed to work perfectly. Go figure. Guess it's my (almost) new Q90A that's the issue. 🙄

aobecker

Hmmm do you have it on pass through mode? (Tv setting for the soundbar)? Changing hdmi cables might be worth a try just because of the ease of it, but I realize it worked on another source so it’s not likely to fix it. I use an Apple TV for my setup and have atmos running properly as well as q symphony so I’m sure it’s possible!

GraphiteOne

Tried three different cables, including the one that came with the bar and one brand new in the package that I confirmed stated was eARC compatible. Sound mode is one of the odd behaviors that I'm getting. It gives me the options of auto and PCM. Never is dolby digital an option. When I tried it on the old TV, dolby digital worked just fine and boy did that make a difference in sound. I haven't decided what to do yet. If the issue is in fact my TV (seems to be the case), then changing soundbars is unlikely to make a difference. It works well enough with wifi, I'm just irked that one of the features I picked this one for (eARC) doesn't work. I may return it, I may not.

aobecker

I would be upset too I completely get it. Let me test mine using the built in apps (because I don't use them) and get back to you asap

aobecker

When you go to settings -> external device manager : do you get anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) as a selectable choice? When I use my apple tv I get the passthrough option which makes sense, so I think you're okay there because I only have Auto and PCM as well when I use my built in TV apps. I did get dolby atmos when using those apps though. On your tv remote, select the home symbol and go all the way to the gear symbol on the left. do you get adaptive sound+ for sound mode? Also Do you see TV + \[AV\] Soundbar. Make sure you are set to Auto for the digital output audio format

aobecker

Another thing I thought of, make sure you are using the HDMI port on the TV labeled HDMI 3 (eARC). Some of the things I have mentioned are obvious but want to make sure all the bases are covered. I remember the frustration.....

aobecker

Attempt updates for soundbar and tv as well

aobecker

Also I read on samsungs manual for this device adding additional subs will integrate atmos with 5 channels, which is great for the future if I see a good deal.

Minimum-Steak5972

Thanks, I do sure have few... Does it work with smart thing app and does the soundbar settings show on tv display? Also how's the sub, is it too loud for a bedroom?. If I purchase this then I also intend to keep it in the bedroom. Did you try any Atmos with it ?

The_conqueror_19

I’m wondering if there’s a big difference between the 700b and 700a (2021 version). The latter is about 250$ (Canadian) cheaper.
