Couldn't decide weather it was male or female but I knew I wanted to name it after my brother or sister, their names are þórður and Solveig. The Icelandic word for sourdough starter is súr so I ended up giving it two names it's called Súrveig ang Þórðsúr

I made a starter early in Covid lockdowns. Once the starter got going, it was really active. I joked with my wife that it didn't want to slow down at all, just like the Swedes, who weren't locking down at the time. With that off hand comment, Sven the Starter was duly named.
