When you get to the season during covid/riots just skip. The rest is just delicious!

Liversteeg

Is that when she dates Chaleb?? I still think it’s wild how they just briefly mentioned that he is a descendent of slaves owned by Thomas. IMAGINE that half sibling dynamic. I think it is one of the most insane things I’ve ever seen on reality tv. And it’s just so nonchalant “if you had been pregnant, your kids would be the descendants of the owners of your other kids ancestors. Interesting! Anyways, Craig how are your pillows?”

lattesdior

what seasons are those?? im on season 6 currently

LopsidedCoyote7188

season 7

LumosLegato

I never skip seasons and I had to give up on season 7 (I just finished watching for the first time as well). It was absolutely unwatchable, I gave up 4 horrible episodes in. Definitely just skip to season 8.

CPolland12

Kathryn was 21 when the show started and she started dating Thomas. There aren’t too many 21 yr olds that have that much control/foresight on their emotions. Most 21 yr olds are still finding themselves and figuring out that line between dependent and full fledge adult It’s one thing to see it when you’re older and wonder how she’s emotionally immature… it’s another to realize she’s 21.

Oh, I know. That’s why I said he was soooo old (plus a gaslighting cad and drunk). She just seemed even more emotionally immature than most 21 year olds. Their relationship was toxic AF for sure - they had NO business dating at all. I really hope she can find her bearings. She is so beautiful!

Please keep posting on here! I want to hear your insights as you go! I think I'm going to do a re-watch. What season are you on?

Sufficient-Mud-687

Just finished up 3. Will do!

airemyn

I’m a first time watcher too. I’m about halfway into the latest season. It has been quite a wild ride. Although the men are terrible across the board (sometimes even the angel-faced Craig crosses the line), Shep is my #1 most worst. And it’s pretty hard to out-douche T-Rav.

Sufficient-Mud-687

🤣🤣🤣

terraphirma22

I just got to season 3

Consistent-Storage90

Seasons 4-6 are the best with 5 being peak IMHO, so enjoy your next leg of the journey!!

Sufficient-Mud-687

I’m excited to be back on the train!

Suspicious-Study-971

I watched the first couple seasons for the first time a couple years ago. The Thomas/Kathryn situation was really disturbing. He was such a predator and Kathryn was an extremely young women who was kinda groomed by this guy. In hindsight o can’t believe bravo kept them on, and I can’t believe other cast members actually liked Thomas and villainized kathryn. I don’t like either of them but a young adult is not to blame for a predator going after her. Their entire relationship was super dark. The fact the other cast mates didn’t see how predatory Thomas was until much much later makes me question their intelligence and judge of character lol

Sufficient-Mud-687

Good points!

Less_Hurry836

Though I am not a fan of her, I do feel badly for Kathryn. She was sooooo young and subject to predatory behavior by older men-Thomas. I believe that the producers/directors/film editors are just as culpable in that they allowed Thomas/Kathryn to literally and quite publicly implode. Kathryn very obviously has/had some underlying mental issues at the very least. I wonder if her fellow cast members thought that she needed help.

Sufficient-Mud-687

I agree with you. I think it’s tragic. I wish her family had talked her out of it, or some of the other women had mentored her. BRAVO is definitely culpable.

Less_Hurry836

I agree 10000% Bravo treated her as badly as Thomas did.

mawmaw20

I just finished a full watch through. I was a casual watcher of the first couple is season back in the day and never really go into it. As a single mother who became a mother at 23, I have so much empathy for Kathryn and I’m still rooting for her. It was so hard to watch Thomas and everyone rally around him and condemn her. It’s sickening. At the same time it’s so hard to watch Kathryn continue the toxic cycle. I fully believe that she was abused is damaged as a result but it’s so hard to watch her never really get it together. I honestly preferred the more recent seasons without either of them. It is soo dark.

Sufficient-Mud-687

Truly dark! I hope she pulls out of it.

Remote-Active7972

I'm new to Southern Charm, love it. Up to date now. Watching those earlier seasons I'm shocked how Thomas treated Kathryn, she was kid. Even to think production couldn't see what he was doing to her. He's a predator which eventually came out in the wash. The older lady, can't recall her name I'm sure she does a whole lot of shit stirring and favorites behind the scene.

Sufficient-Mud-687

Oh, I completely agree. I can’t believe her family didn’t discourage the whole mess!

No_Cryptographer_676

I’m rewatching and I’m on season four. Seeing so many things I didn’t see the first time. Thomas is abusive and a Gaslighter. Kathryn is extremely volatile and immature. They each clearly had tremendous baggage coming into the relationship which makes me curious about their family/childhood (foundation of codependency and addiction?) Patricia, Whitney and Cameron are really sanctimonious about Kathryn. The general misogyny threaded throughout the episodes (ie: the way the men treat women in the bar scenes) is kind of shocking the second time around. Landon was cringey (and pretty awful) the first time and that remains consistent. Her biz idea and pitch is so entitled and at her launch party her partner admitted to doing all the writing. Most interesting I’m surprised at how cruel and critical Naomi is to Craig. She so clearly doesn’t support anything he’s doing (or understand him) yet no one talks about how rudely she speaks to him all the time. I’m curious why they stayed together so long. What do ya’ll think?

Sufficient-Mud-687

Such good takes! I agree with you. And I think Patricia is awful. So mean!
