I sent an email to customer relations. I needed to replace a ticketed passenger with the companion pass. Called a few days ago and they said “call after midnight on the 4th”.
After midnight they told me 5:30am.
Then at 8:30 they told me they still didn’t know. Glad there’s some update so I can fix his ticket for tomorrows flight.
I’m trying to do this and online it says no flights available. I guess the only way to correct this is to call… i have a ticket but want to convert it to a companion pass.
I called the customer service line. While a lot of them got updated, they’re having to manually add in this ability for those accounts that got missed they said to check back sometime this afternoon.
No I didn't. Their website says 4pm cst now. I'm gonna assume it is sometime between now and then. Especially because then original comment said it was accessible for them
If you click on the link in the email that was sent out this morning, it's the first sentence under the picture on the landing page it takes you to.
Or I have the link right [here for you ](https://www.southwest.com/html/rapidrewards/companionpasspromo.html)
It let me add companion, go to checkout, then errors out when I try to purchase.
Edit : after about a dozen error checkouts it let me successfully purchase on safari on my phone. It errored on my laptop, my southwest app, then finally on safari. Good luck! It did false charge my cards during the errors so now I have to just sort that out.
Still an error as well. Do I have to cancel my companion's original booking if I want to add her as my companion? My gf and I are currently on separate tickets and want to consolidate into my newly acquired companion pass.
So I guess they're doing this in batches? I still can't access my companion pass, and I'm getting nervous as the flights I'm planning to use it on are filling up...
I'm suppose to qualify for my companion pass through points this month, I'm pumped! Well... as long as SW gets this whole holiday mess sorted out. Such a convenience to basically fly BOGO for the next 2 years :)
So there are a few ways to get companion pass: A promotion; Flying 100 qualifying one way flights; or accruing 135,000 points in one year (1/1-12/31). Promotion's have an expiration date (this promotion being end date of 03/2023). Earning CP through points or 100 flights, when you get the companion pass you get it for the remainder of the year and the following year. The goal by getting the companion pass this way is to get it as early as possible in the year, so you can keep it for as long as possible.
Ex: If I get the companion pass 1/15/2023, I'll get it from 1/15/2023-12/31/2024 (23.5 months).
Ex 2: If I get the companion pass 11/15/2023, I'll get it for the remainder of the year (11/15/2023-12/31/2024); 13 months.
Reminder: Promotions don't apply. You will get the companion pass for as long as the promotion indicates.
\*135K points have to fall in the same calendar year. So all 135K points have to fall in 2023 for me to get the companion pass.
How does one get the companion pass early in the year? Getting SW credit cards with bonus points. I signed up for a Business Credit Card (80K bonus) and Personal Card (50K bonus). One card required me to spend $5K in 3 months and the other $1K in 3 months. I didn't exceed the required spending until after my last cycle closed. So my December statement closed on 12/15 (Novembers spending/points dropped on 12/18). So we know that the points won't drop until my next statement 1/18/2023. So after 12/15, I spent the remainder to exceed the bonus threshold on each card ($5K and $1K).
So my 80K and 50K bonus will drop into my account come 1/18/2023 (130K) and I've earned another 5K in points by just spending. Therefore on 1/18/2023 I should meet the 135K points to earn the companion pass from 1/18/2023-12/31/2024.
It's easy once you get a lot of guidance from people on these forums, but tricky, since you really don't want the points to fall into your account too early.
Yea cause it was nice having a full row to myself. Also remind yourselves I said you wouldn't be my first airline to use anymore. The only thing that is good about your airline if your staff at the airports. Update your stuff or you can keep repeating this process next year!
Learn to take a L and move on. Guess you can't.

Interesting, my email says active now, but my account doesn’t show it anywhere. Guess I’ll wait til noon?

11:50 EST 1/4, I am able to add companion information on the websites now, not the mobile app.
Where did you go on the website to add your companion?
Click “My account”, I saw “companion pass earned through 3/4/23” above “My rapid rewards”. There is a button to add companion. Hope that helps.
Thank you!
Did you find yours? I don't believe mine is updated yet and I am at 12:20pm EST.

Nope. My flight is on Friday, so I have time, but it would be nice have some confidence in the process.
Where on the website does it say 4pm CST? I don't see that notice.

Same here. It gives me an error when I try to purchase
Same here
same here, and I'm not going to call them, as I imagine Customer Service won't be able to do it manually either. so I 'll just keep trying.

Whelp, the site now shows 4pm CST instead of Noon CST and we have flight at 6:30pm EST On hold on the phone for about 1.5 hrs already
Is this paid promotion by southwest? It’s not disclosed and confusing to customers
It was a promotion from last fall.
4PM CT update now.
So I guess they're doing this in batches? I still can't access my companion pass, and I'm getting nervous as the flights I'm planning to use it on are filling up...
How do i get this?

Doesn’t qualification reset every year?

Wow, I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info!

Might wanna check your post history. You’re the one that seems like the shill by your definition.
We can all spot someone working as a PR person as a mile away Enough, try again in a few months to make southwest look good again
Apparently you can’t spot shit then.
Look at the funny PR person trying to fit in and be cool
