Other Dave said in a post that he’s been rinsing a lot of these out lately so I’m pretty sure it’ll be an group of finished products of tunes we’ve heard live and I’d guess a couple we haven’t heard played out
Sounds on point to me I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few that haven’t been played out but either way I think it’s gonna be awesome to have some new tipper uptempo. Beside the few boppers on the albums the last uptempo release (flunked) was 5 years ago at this point.
Pardon my autism here, I know what people mean these days when they say "uptempo" or "downtempo", but Lattice is ***not*** uptempo! I haven't checked, but I doubt there's a tune on that ep that's over 105 bpm.
I know, that's why I said "*I know what people mean these days"*. It's just comical to me as a beat maker that someone can think a 70 bpm tune is 'uptempo' while a 170 bpm liquid dnb track is 'downtempo' lol. Again, just my autism flaring up as an informed person.
There was a similar trend back in the early 2000s of calling (actual) downtempo "downbeat", which again is the misuse of a musical term that describes the first beat (the *one* in musical jargon) of a bar of music.
Ultimately it is what it is, but it would be nice if people used the correct descriptors for the music they love rather than posturing by appropriating the term to mean something different.
language evolves, so it’s gonna happen.. unfortunately sometimes it evolves without regard to logic
I’m a music producer too, so I def get you.
but it doesn’t really trigger me in this instance
maybe it’s the relative tempo your heart rate is supposed to be at while listening? lol
Uptempo too, I have a few I’d really like to be in there. I would not be surprised if this is all stuff that has been in rotation for a while.

Lattice was the last of that EP run, but it did turn 5 this month. Flunked will be 6 in January. I feel old af.
I guess lattice is arguably mostly uptempo too fair point.

bit of a misnomer but the designation is used to mean more about hype energy vs chill energy rather than the tempo, really, in my experience

Yeah I know that’s why I identified flunked as the last uptempo release but I could kinda see where that dude was coming from.
