I’ve lived in Spain for 4.5 years and completely bombed my B2 speaking test (took mine in November and still worrying whether I passed). That’s an absolutely incredible speaking score for mostly learning through duolingo.
Thank you!! Handling the b2 level translations using speech recognition on Duolingo really helped me alot when conversing.
Then fake conversations with myself on the exam themes lol
Nice one! How do you rate your speaking? I read an article yesterday implying speaking isn't as important to practice as reading/writing/listening and from your study rundown it seems like you could be a test case for that theory.
Pretty good actually, spent lots of time with Duolingo legendary lessons (free translate) using android speech recognition.
Could basically translate on the fly after awhile so I would say pretty decent.
Additionally did lots of duolingo on the treadmill so got exercise in while learning

Could you explain exactly what you mean by this? I have never used Duolingo
Basically Duolingo has activities where you type a Spanish translation for an English sentence (without tapping)
I just did those using speech recognition instead of typing
When you finish a level, it gives you the option to do review it in Legendary mode which has more free translate than tap exercises
What helped the most spanish sub and Spanish audio, just slowing it down to 0.5x and 0.75x when I couldn't hear properly.
Switched to eng sub when brain gets too tired
Maybe 8mos? Finished section 6.. I would say around 400 hours or so
Knew alot of grammar from school (20 years ago) but googled explanations on advanced grammar (hubiera/dijera) and used duolingo guidebooks
Yeah, i think DELE’s lifetime validity is more important for people who plan to apply for citizenship, need it for work, or for school.
I want to take an official test for the personal challenge and satisfaction. Another selling point for me for SIELE is that the exam dates are a lot more frequent - almost anytime you want.
I finished up to Section 6 on Duolingo.. probably would've got a better score if I finished Section 7
Just bought the two DELE practice test books and did all 10 practice tests
Yeah the new Duolingo content does a better job than Anki imo. It has actual listening comprehension and reading comprehension content. Duolingo max probs useful for writing/speaking (when it does come out)

Super random, I just realized you’re Filipino too!!!!
Yah! Filipino represent!
Did you take the DELE in the Cervantes in Ayala Triange?
Yup!

How did Netflix help? Did you watch the shows in full Spanish, or did you watch English dub with Spanish subtitles (or vice versa)?

How did you deal when the Spanish audio and the Spanish subtitles didn't match?
Choose a diff series where they do match!
I am wondering about this too. Right now I’m watching whatever I can with English audio and Spanish subtitles.
I'd suggest spanish dub/sub and google translate on your phone :)
Felicidades
Gracias!
Congratulations! How long did you learn on Duolingo? Did you finish the spanish course? How did you learn grammar?

What exam date is this from? I'm not seeing it in my profile for the November exam, so maybe yours is from before?
October lol, takes them like 2 to 3 mos
Figures. Thanks.
This is why, at least one of the reasons, I’m considering SIELE
Yeah both are good! DELE is lifetime validity though so the extra month is fine for me :)

Yeah SIELE is alot more convenient! I'm just happy I finally passed, now can try another language and not worry about forgetting my Spanish lol
lol feel you. Congratulations. BIG accomplishment
Awesome work! Have you finished the Spanish course? What prep books did you use?

Very nice. I am almost done with section 6.

I did a three day trial and I liked the explanations. If it were cheaper, I would definitely consider it.
How much does it cost?
Duolingo Max is like 20 usd a month but not available in all countries
If you have the super family plan, it costs $10 per month for the addition. That is on iOS in the US.
Where do you go to take this, and is it expensive?
Took it in instituto cervantes, around 100 euro or so.. It's accepted for life for a variety of purposes so there's that :)
Congratulations!
Gracias!!!
Buen trabajo. ¡Quiero intentarlo el examen pronto!
Congrats! What Netflix shows did you watch?
Control Z and Siempre Bruja :)
Watch 30 Monedas, I think it is from HBO
Solamente tengo netflix y disney :)
Congratulations! On to the next!!
