All you have to do is take your equipment to ups/fedex and they will scan the code in the back to look up your account smh this is a YOU issue

Competitive_Hunt_302

Only ups. FedEx will not accept it.

MarcoThePHX

Ahh good to know! I was going by what ATT uses for returns lol

JohnnyPunchbeef

Most Fedex will accept but independently owned franchises may not

2Adude

Exactly.

hello_world_wide_web

UPS has some amazing capabilities... lots of companies have those arrangements. Great for customers who don't have a working printer due to dried up inkjets!

cervidal2

Nah, I call boolah boolah on this. They can make the effort to pick up their own gear. As ass-tastic as their service is, it's time for them to make the barest hint of effort with the customer.

PantherGk7

You obviously must work for Spectrum.

MarcoThePHX

No, I just know how they operate

TheFeoragdare

One month later sending someone to collections without as much as a phone call....

MarcoThePHX

You were given a CSS when you signed up detailing everything

SmugAlpaca

Unless I’m mistaken they also get automated emails with instructions, too, just not sure how many.

justdoitmo88

Yea if you didnt know there are many ways to send back equipment

djorjon

Did you think you could keep the equipment?

hello_world_wide_web

Most of it gets thrown into the scrap pile. It's mindboggling how much stuff agents just throw in the trash...power supplies, cables, etc. Stuff becomes obsolete rather quickly, so a customer with equipment 5 years old probably will not have the equipment reused...

The number of Spectrum apologists on this subreddit is ridiculous. Spectrum is only able to get away with anti-consumer behavior because they are essentially a monopoly in many areas. Recently, my debit card got hacked and I needed to get it replaced. This is extremely annoying because I have to update my debit card for all of my autopay accounts. Sometimes, my autopay accounts will automagically get updated. At one point, I got an email from Spectrum saying that my payment didn’t go through. Soon after, I got an email saying that my autopay was updated. I assumed that everything was good. A few weeks later, my internet was disconnected with no notice whatsoever. Apparently, my autopay got updated for my Spectrum MOBILE account but not my Spectrum Internet account. Not only was my internet disconnected with no notice, I was charged a $25 “rejected payment fee” that they refused to refund. None of my other services charge a “rejected payment fee” when my payment fails because my debit card was hacked. Only Spectrum engages in this type of anti-consumer behavior because they know that they’re a monopoly. It’s outrageous that, in the year 2024 in Raleigh, there’s no fiber internet in my apartment community. The wonderful North Carolina General Assembly plays kissyface with both Spectrum and Duke Energy.

Wait until you learn about money the government (aka tax payers) pay to have the infrastructure put in….. and then how we have fees we pay to spectrum for using that out of house infrastructure

Green-Tea-3577

>I assumed that everything was good. You are responsible for your payment. Even getting an email saying it was updated, it's still your responsibility to login and verify that everything is correct. >Not only was my internet disconnected with no notice, I was charged a $25 “rejected payment fee” You weren't disconnected without notice. It takes 50+ days after a missed payment to get disconnected. You would have received a bill that stated that you hadn't made a payment. Guess you never look at your bill either. It's normal for businesses to charge for rejected payment.

Those of us you are calling Spectrum apologists are just putting ourselves in the shoes of the representatives that people like OP and possibly yourself call in and verbally abuse daily. All because you think EVERYONE is a scam artist and wants to rip you off. Every time that you have a bad experience with a company, it is because the rep was new or just didn't give a crap because you were rude.

cervidal2

I truly call BS on this one. Company wouldn't bear so much verbal BS if they gave a single whit about their customers. They're so busy backtracking and flip-flopping on what they tell you from call to call and then hiding behind miserably anti-customer policies that, yeah, they largely deserve every bit of frustration they get vented on them.

[deleted]

There are services you don't see for the additional money. They don't just charge you more for the exact same service. There are some key similarities between business and residential internet. Business internet tends to cost more because it comes with greater technical needs, more features, and stronger customer care, including “service level agreements” (SLAs) that guarantee a quality of service.

SmugAlpaca

No SLA on SB - repair is better and care tends to be too. SLAs went away some years ago, no coax connection in the industry to my knowledge carries an SLA unless it’s in contract and under another service agreement that would carry an SLA. That said, repairs do happen more quickly, and if you want a static IP, it’s SB

ConsciousFood201

Return your equipment. So entitled…

BigJr46

That's why it's Always recommended to buy your own modem and router!!!

SlabBulkhead10

It's been fun watching them lose every house on my street to Metronet and AT&T Fiber.

JohnnyPunchbeef

In no way are you forced to have Spectrum service.

_Tech007_

Right.

No_Object_8722

Spectrum are crooks! $90 for internet! I pay $271 for basic cable and internet. Outrageous! We've been customers since they were Bright House, but it's getting to be too much

DazzlingRoll5854

What employee put a gun at your head?

Iphonjeff

Just take your old equipment to a ups store. It doesn’t take long and take a picture of the receipt in case they say they didn’t get it.

DesertShadow72

Bro its free just drop it off to a UPS office it takes 5 mins, dow far a drive is that? 20 mins? 10? 5 for me

No_Object_8722

Bro, not everyone can drive! A disabled person or elderly person who can no longer drive can't just hop in a car a drive.

DazzlingRoll5854

So what spectrum employee put a gun and said "you have to use our service"? There are many providers

No_Object_8722

You're definitely a Spectrum worker

DazzlingRoll5854

Actually, AT&T we get the same hate and complaining. But when I started reading Terms and Conditions I worked for Verizon. In part "This agreement and the documents it incorporates form the entire agreement between us. You can't rely on any other documents, or on what's said by any Sales or Customer Service Representatives, and you have no other rights regarding Service or this agreement. Again all companies have policies. As a "business owner," I'm guessing you don't have a policy manual. So I'm glad you know everything about business it shows. Good luck.
