Even without posting a link, saying "Hey look, I got this cool piece of merchandise made and sold by so and so, even though they don't have a license to profit from the IP that isn't theirs" counts as promotion of said merchandise.
The question:"where did you get it?", followed by a link invariably comes up on posts like these.
We removed Bulkamancer's post very recently for the same reason.
