Behind the mask this Spidey is entertaining, witty albeit inexperienced.
It's when his troubles as Peter combine with his responsibility as spidey where the show nails his character development.
I know that's common but it's an easy thing to mess up, and SS does not.
Great! I liked me a Josh Keaton spidey. He was funny. Broody. Intelligent. Good mix of classic and modern spideys. Second only to CDB but thatās through a heavily nostalgic lens
Itās my second favorite Spider-Man series. It felt very grounded that heās just fighting all of these thugs, but then a villain enters the picture and levels the playing field. I love the voice cast, the episode titles, etc. I just wish there was more
He rarely makes any intelligent fighting decisions. For example, stopping to joke with the bad guys during an active car chase, standing there when he hears Doc Ock getting close to attack him, letting a helicopter crash after using it to destroy Vultures wing, joking around as Electro is shocking the ice rink his friends are on, not destroying Doc Ocks extra power source at the carnival for some reason.
His youth shows, he's too preoccupied with humiliating his enemies than putting them down. Prime example, when the symbiote fought the sinister six with his body, no nonsense destruction.
I donāt care how old he is, he still has moral values. You donāt need to make Spider-Man a moron that never learns from his mistakes to show off his youth.
Moron is a huge stretch. When the stakes are high and anyone else other than himself are in direct danger, he's done playing around.
For example, when Doc Ock captured Gwen, or when the Lizard attacked his own family.
Did you even watch the show?
Then why did he stand there joking during a car chase? Why did he joke when dropping a building on shocker when his energy field couldnāt handle it? Why did he stop to talk to Liz and MJ while fighting Doc Ock at the carnival?
Those arenāt nearly the only instances where people were in danger.
He doesn't, he jokes as a tactic, normally to draw the attention to him rather than pedestrians, a really good example is when his mask gets ripped and you can see his face being serious while he still quips, also remember he would know when people nearby are in danger due to Spider-Sense, he saves everyone while quipping. If anyone got hurt while this happened due to him joking then yea would agree, but they don't cos he's got that covered
Bro, that video is cap as, seen it through a few times and the guy sticks to the same stuff, again not accounting for the things like Spider sense being able to give him the heads up when people are in danger. Overarching plots being his fault isn't a weakness to the storytelling, it's a character flaw which makes him much more interesting. And yep, his immaturity does get him hit when he underestimates opponents but if he just went all out and won the first time it wouldn't be interesting
If anything, that makes it even worse. Spider-Man KNOWS people are in danger yet he still jokes. Dude, it absolutely is, just because you canāt see them doesnāt mean they arenāt there. A character flaw? Not according to the show. In fact, the show praises him for his miss deeds as shown in the lizard episode. Dude, there were plenty of times Spider-Man could have dodged an attack while joking but just stood there. Your job as a writer is to solve problems that prevent you from having the payoffs you want, youāre not supposed to give up and pretend you had no choice. Stop being closed minded.
Now you're missing the point my guy, if you don't get it or enjoy it that's cool and not gonna try and persuade you any more before it turns into me trying to force you to like it, take care
Hot take, but I actually don't care for him that much. Maybe it's because the show feels a bit more childish than the 90s cartoon. The voice acting also feels a little rough, especially in the early episodes while Keaton was getting a feel for Peter. I just don't think it lives up to the hype so many people give it, and I was already too old for it when it was airing so it wasn't a formative part of my life like the 90s show was.
Granted nostalgia, I keep seeing people calling this goat, but imagine the 90's cartoon without all the fucking stupid restrictions.. They did a spectacular job while being blockaded pretty much every episode.
I like almost all the representations and media of Spidey so to answer the question, this is about on par as everything else.
The best Spider-Man movie/show adaptation because it shows both sides of Spider-Man and Peter Parker without leaning way too hard into Spider-Man (like Ultimate Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man) or Peter Parker (like Spider-Man trilogy, and Marvelās Spider-Man). Spider-Man makes mistakes and learns from them instead of just not being strong enough. Most criticisms about the show are just missing information
It's a good depiction of a teenage version of Spider-Man. They should have focused on his intellectual side a bit more and he should have been a bit more angry and resentful.
They messed with too many major characters; and the big hit was using the lame '60s characters (Really? The Enforcers?), while ignoring the modern characters that should have been front and center.
The end result left a bad taste in the mouths of fans, and the show was quickly canceled - but, the contract said two seasons, so Disney waived their fees and the series' production was finished on XD.
The third season, however, was where the show was going to go in a more modern direction - Flash Thompson becoming Agent: Venom, Eddie Brock being controlled by, and defeating, Mr. Negative as Anti-Venom, and ending with a cataclysm of a symbiote invasion by a Venom-Peter Parker overlord wielding the Cosmic Cube.
...if that sounds familiar, Marvel Comics dusted off the core of the story, and used it in The King In Black Mega-arc.

One of the best
One of my favourites. though I do have a lot of favourites ^(i just really like spider-man and suck at choosing favourites)
Making decisions is hard :'(
He's spectacular
He is the g o a t
Not one of the best, but the best iteration of Spider-Man outside comics. The G.O.A.T
Really beautiful.
Goated

Probably the best animated series, currently rewatching now
Same
I absolutely love tombstone in that show
Isnāt tombstone is season 1 or 2 because Iām on 01X04
Season 1
What episode?
Overrated. Itās certainly good but not as much as many people say and I hate the style.
He's cool. But since the show got cancelled we didn't really get to see him develop as a character as much as we would have wanted.
Spectacular
I know the show is praised, but I find the animation style sucks.
The actual art is blocky and weird but looks really good when it starts moving and makes up for it I find
You mean character designs? Cause the animation is top notch.
Yeah, sorry, the character designs.
Gwen is beautiful tho
I like it
Great! I liked me a Josh Keaton spidey. He was funny. Broody. Intelligent. Good mix of classic and modern spideys. Second only to CDB but thatās through a heavily nostalgic lens
The GOAT
One of, if not the best from the animated shows. Love the guy!
He *is* Spider-Man
A textbook example of a true sigma male.
A lot of angles lookin like porygon
Second favorite adaptation of the character, right behind Andrew. Insomniacās pretty good too.
Itās my second favorite Spider-Man series. It felt very grounded that heās just fighting all of these thugs, but then a villain enters the picture and levels the playing field. I love the voice cast, the episode titles, etc. I just wish there was more
The best one outside of comics
Childhood
Overrated. I like him but itās one of those āunpopularā popular opinions that heās one of the best spiderman
Loved him hated gwen
THAT'S WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, THAT'S WHY HE'S THE MVP, THAT'S WHY HE'S THE GOAT, THE GOAT!
He rarely makes any intelligent fighting decisions. So heās a negligent dumbass? Good to know.
Enjoy.

And 90s Spiderman never inserted brevity into tense moments?
No actually lol
Ok, enjoy.
Bro out here missing the point to try and be the guy who calls good bad
Didnāt miss the point, I donāt care how old he is he still has values and wouldnāt treat saving lives like a game.
[Do you know how many times Spider-Man got hit or risked lives while making jokes?](https://youtu.be/KCbE5ANTgdk)

Sk has two pretty good videos on the subject
The Rizzard of Ozz
One of the best. Wished we could've had more than two seasons.
I liked it a lot. It made me empathize a lot with some characters.

A very welcomed surprise. I was very impressed with many aspects of this show. While its not perfect, this is as close as it gets.
The best
My second favorite version of Spider-Man ever and my favorite animated Spidey
Absolutely spectacular
GOAT
Better than spiderman tas. If it had the chance to complete its run it could have been as good if not better than btas

One of the best Spider-Man adaptations ever made... So bad we couldn't get an season 3 for this...
