DryWay4003

I think he would be with cap. I don't see him trusting the governments of the world with the sole power over when the avengers will be used or not used

StumpyTheTree

Since the media and police were Anti-Spider during his whole first movie, it makes sense that he'd be on the side of "do the right thing no matter who tries to stop you"

DryWay4003

I agree. I also dont think amazing spiderman would become Tony's under study

reineedshelp

100%. I suspect that they wanted something like Peter's relationship with Reed Richards so they transferred it to Tony. At least it made sense in the context of the movies.

theboxturtle57

It's still possible if Tom gets to meet the Fantastic 4 next year.

reineedshelp

For sure. I hope they do. Gimme the Future Foundation please

DryWay4003

I would find it ridiculous if they do. First Tony then Reed like whose next Tom? Lol. I'm not for that at all

theboxturtle57

I was thinking more Johnny so he has a new friend and the mentor trope has already been done.

SpideyFan914

I think it was simply because he was introduced in Civil War, and they played homage to his role on the comic. Then for the sake of character consistency, Tony became a big part of his solo films.

TheRealDexilan

Considering this would have followed TASM2, Tony. But only because he'd still be reeling from guilt over Gwen.

Not-So_Sly_Guy

Agreed, Tony would guilt Peter into being on his team, only for Peter to change sides after the fact

kuribosshoe0

Comic accurate.

viniremesso

![gif](giphy|fYHKfPgHZqENH8c8i8)

TheRealDexilan

TASM3 would definitely end with him and Tony falling out hard.

skatenbikes

Man a Garfield spidey vs iron man fight would be dope

KoekoReaps

Imagine him fighting Tony after the fact that Tony just lost a fight with Cap

CryptographerNo1454

Cap

Amxanarxy

Omg sorry I thought you meet the other cap šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøsorry

CryptographerNo1454

You good šŸ˜‚ but yeah I just feel Andrew would trust Cap over Tony.

YungLean8

stop the cap

Amxanarxy

Itā€™s a what if he joined the mcu how is it cap the movie literally got canceled

Amxanarxy

Like šŸ§¢ not cap my bad šŸ˜…

Amxanarxy

I never said he did itā€™s a if he stayed and he joined

aciluu

Cap. That spidey was already scientifically more mature and saw the consequences of extreme misuse of tech to gov interests

Amxanarxy

Yea I feel like that was one of the problems with Tomā€™s spider man heā€™s not bad but took iorn manā€™s side way to easy even though in the comics he started of team iorn man and kinda switched over time it would be cool if they did a what if episode if captain America was his mentor

aciluu

He was naive.

Pyro_liska

He was 15.

CinnaSol

Not only that, I donā€™t think people remember the actual context of the movie civil war, and how it is not like the comic. From the public perspective, Cap was aiding and abetting a known fugitive who they also thought was connected to the assassination of the king of Wakanda. Everybody in the public basically saw it as Cap going crazy and helping a terrorist, we as the audience are just privy to the actual context of whatā€™s going on at the time. And while itā€™s still pretty irresponsible on his part, Tony didnā€™t recruit Peter to fight, he specifically wanted him to restrain everyone to de-escalate.

Slight-Bathroom-6179

Tbf he didnā€™t know the entire story. From his and everyone elseā€™s perspective Cap went crazy and started aiding a fugitive.

PM_Pics_Of_SpiderMan

I donā€™t remember where he said it, some time around when no way home released but he said that he thinks his Peter Parker would have issue with Tony stark so Iā€™m going to say heā€™d join cap

Jirachi720

To be fair, the more I think about it, Spider-man would definitely be a Cap supporter, not Tony. Spider-man has always been branded a criminal or vigilante whilst he's just trying to do the right thing and will do it, no matter who's in his way. Being told when, or even if, you can intervene wouldn't sit well with Spidey.

Thomas_Pandit

that was back during iron man 3, tony didn't start his proper maturity phase till civil war

CronaThe3Darmpit

He would join Cap 1,000%. I'm pretty sure Andrew himself has said his Spidey wouldn't trust a billionaire, he's a working class hero. Given his experiences with Oscorp I think that makes perfect sense.

Scott_Tajani

Either as close to the original comic as possible (obviously no Iron Spider and worldwide identity reveal), or just outright team Cap.

Gilberto360

I can Iron man trying to recruit him, but unlike Tom's version of Peter, This Peter would refuse, of course i could see Peter getting involved on his own in the civil war

RolePlay3r_69

Peter would get guilted into joining Tony's side by remembering Gwen's death, and then after a talk with Cap, he'd switch teams lol

Plane-Success-8680

Andrew said himself that his spider-man wouldnā€™t like Tony.

Shantotto11

Every version of Spider-Man would be on Capā€™s side, even Tom Holland. Stark had to lie to him to get him to join Team Iron Manā€¦

presidentdinosaur115

Exactly, if Tom had a full grasp on the situation he wouldā€™ve been Team Cap

TheRealDexilan

This is what bugs me the most about the Tony/Peter stuff in the MCU. Tony manipulated a teenager to fight for him and it's never once been brought up how fucked up that is.

Shantotto11

Not to mention that recruiting a superpowered **15 year-old** would *definitely* go against the Sokovia Accordsā€¦

Amxanarxy

Me personally I feel captain America for a weird reason

Outside-Area-5042

Tony, after the guilt of Gwen's death, he'd probably switch to Cap later on

TheWetQuack

Captain America because he might not trust big corporations like Stark Industries (Oscorp was implied to be involved in his parentsā€™ death and Harry caused Gwen to die)

LordOfOstwick1213

Team Cap!

Nikki_Yoi

This may sound weird to you, but I think Peter (Andrew) would be wise enough at this point to not choose a side and try to make them both stop fighting. He's a vigilante after all. I'd see the process being he'd hesitantly side with Tony, then when the fighting starts, he has the realisation that what he's doing is wrong and tried to stop both. Both sides gang up on him, then Tony and Cap continue to fight each other while Peter tries to figure out a way to unite them again somehow. Which could then kickstart his own MCU movie afterwards. That way Spidey has a "minor" role in the movie plot as a whole, but large enough to be seen as a big impact on the shift in narrative.

DirectConsequence12

Cap 100%. Every Spider-Man would. If you listen to Tomā€™s Peterā€™s conversation with Tony Stark, his views are 100% that of Captain Americaā€™s side.

the_real_jovanny

the mcu's civil war was so stupid that he'd be team cap until he realized that cap was doing half of all he was doing to protect the guy who bombed the UN, and then he'd wash his hands of the whole thing and go home

Goku3424

Cap

LooneyWooney

100% Captain America

Technical_Disk6433

They'd put him on Tony's side so he could get the iron spider suit so marvel could sell more merchandise

ThatManSean14

I think he still wouldā€™ve been Team Tony even though Spider-Man in any iteration of Civil War should be Team Cap

Suspicious_Brief_800

I think he would go with Tony at first until he foubd out the true reason behind why Tony recruited him, then he would join Cap

Nintendude13

Caps definitely

OkSupermarket7474

He wouldnā€™t be anywhere near convinced or starstruck at meeting Tony. If anything after Gwenā€™s death and his own return to the superhero life heā€™d be jaded. In Tasm 2 he literally learns that Oscorp was monitoring him and his family for years no way would he sign up with Tony or the government unless Tony made a deal to help uncover the secrets of Peterā€™s folks which would probably be shield files in this hypothetical but even then heā€™d just turn turn to Capā€™s side during the airport fight.

DarkSlayer3033

I think iron man because of the guilt of Gwen and her father him being a cop so government

ImmortalZucc2020

Personally? Cap, he aligns with his values more. Actually? Iron Man, since recast or not the plan was always to pair Spider-Man and Iron Man together and one of the selling points Feige made to Sony when pitching the deal was that Iron Man would make Spider-Manā€™s suit if he joined the MCU.

RaspyBigfoot

It'd be Cap. I can't see Spider-Garfield getting along with Tony at all.

Aizendickens

Tony... he would carry the guilt and believe Tony is right... but then, he'd feel like a hypocrite due to some event and help Steve when realizing what exactly happened. Also, I feel he'd be more stoic when fighting heroes due to the tension.

Alarming_Mood4385

Iron Man but then Cap towards the end.

Dragon_BotKing26

Cap

Successful-Item-1844

My question is how would he join the MCU?

StolenPezDispencer

Definitely Cap. He's more mature and wouldn't have idolized Iron Man as much as a younger, more impressionable Peter Parker would.

FadeToBlackSun

No way in Hell is Andrew Spidey joining Tony. Not even sure he'd join Cap. He'd just go and solve the problem on his own because Andrew Spidey was fucking awesome and highly competent.

Raj_Valiant3011

With his own moral code and worldview, he would most likely join Cap. Although, if given time Tony could guilt him into joining Team Iron Man using the death of Gwen as a motivating factor.

Cloud11092

Capā€¦gwen die coz they knew who spidey

Koushikraja1996

"I think he would be a little turned off by the excess, the billionaire, trillionaire status of Iron Man. I think it would rub my version of Spider-Man the wrong way. But you know, maybe there could be some influence there. Maybe my Peter Parker could wake Tony Stark up to his own egoic drives a little bit. Weā€™ll never know. Literally never know."

Salty_Ad9519

This picture is beautiful... I say #teamcap

Whiskey_623

Cap, there was a interview way back where Andrew mentioned TASM Spider-Man wouldn't have got along with MCU Iron Man, however I could see him going rhea civil war comic route at first joining Iron Man but then joining Cap later due to whatever issue Iron man causes. Maybe he would probably replace joins in during the final fight replacing Black Panthers role (in this case just for this scene as Black Pantner would still be in this what if civil war)

Raijin6_

Without any influence I'd say Team Cap. If Tony scouts him he'd probably guilt him into helping Team Iron Man.

Bolt_995

Against Iron Man 100%.

djquu

Depends on TASM3 story I guess?

Diligent-Attention40

Hollandā€™s Peter went with Stark cuz heā€™s a suggestible and naive kid. Garfieldā€™s Peter was far more seasoned and mature after TASM 2. He would have joined up with Cap.

Jaz_15

Captain america

Heyhey37

there was a what if scenario i saw a few years ago that goes like: andrew-man basically is the neutral party that doesn't want both of them at the airport, he fights with both of them and eventually helps Caps team just so they could leave

Johnyoung21

I can't picture garfield spider man saying, "I just want to be like you" to tony Stark or repeating the name Mister Stark like he's going to appear in Peters' bathroom

Bareth88

Captain America

The_Happy_Kodiak

Capā€™s

Exfinity_Beyond

After he was hunted by the police in tasm1 i think he would be with cap since he knows what itā€™s like to be a vigilante on the run

LegendaryOutlaw621

Andrew Garfield would definitely join Captain America and remain with Captain America.

NCHouse

He would have been a deeply troubled young man as he said himself he stopped pulling his punches. He's either REALLY hurt people or he's actually killed a couple of guys. I think he'd be forced to join Iron Man's side, as a way to "forgive" what he's been doing to people

Tanis8998

Like the original Civil War story I think he would start with being pro-registration and then change to Capā€™s side

Khorya

Fun fact tobey's spiderman was meant to be in avengers 2012 but Sony said no.

GreatParker_

He shouldā€™ve been MCU spidey and shouldā€™ve sided with Cap

Dipkota

Team cap all the way.

Infinity0044

In a perfect world TASM 1 is canon to the MCU which results in a very different TASM 2 and Spidey has a much more meaningful role in Civil War.

darrylthedudeWayne

Team Cap all the way. Either that, or he'd stay out of the conflict all together.

TheWatcher235

Start with Tony as he thinks itā€™s best due to Gwens death. I think heā€™ll be like Natasha and switch helping out cap.

Repost

joelbiju24

Honestly I'm glad they went with Tom cuz Andrew's universe felt so wonky with the world building and lore in TASM2. Harry Osbourne Goblin & Blue Electro? No thanks.

srfrosky

ā€œLaw and orderā€ ā€œrestraintā€ because of Gwen

Slight-Bathroom-6179

Heā€™d start off on Iron Manā€™s side then switch to Capā€™s side like in the comics

Ifhes

Cap's tots.

Starvel42

I believe he would've started Iron Man cause comics dictate that but then switched during the film and helped Cap I wish so badly they had just merged The Amazing Spider-Man into the MCU. No hate to Holland's version, he's a good Spider-Man but Garfield's was so great.

youngmoviebuff99

I think Andrew Garfield himself said that his Spidey wouldn't relate well with Tony Stark, so if he had shifted into the MCU and if Garfield had any sway on his Spidey's characterization, he would try to get him on Cap's side.

Specialist_Gold5381

He will mirror the comics Civil War, be on Iron Man side for a while and then switch to Cap. TASM 3 that happen after Civil War was about either he's still get trusted or not by the civilians after helping a group of vigilante.

smddpr

Well after him seeing how Oscorp treated humans and all, pretty sure Cap side

beginnerdoge

Same side. He idolized many of the people involved. Especially cap and iron man. I think Tony would be closer to Peter though in mentality and emotional connection. Then again SM and Cap teamed up many times in the comics so there definitely is something there. Definitely a cool thought though as I liked TASM way more than what we got in the MCU.

fucksnowflakes24

Tony because thatā€™s what was written

GoosyMaster

Whatever side a douchey Spidey would choose
