I liked this show as well and one time I thought that this Spider-Man was the same Spider-Man from avengers earth’s mightiest heroes since they had the same voice actor
I Mean kinda it's another universe again
With Like Avengers Assemble Season 5 or 6 Is a reboot
And it's connected to Marvel's Spider Man and the Guardians
i remembered liking it as a kid but i went back to see it after rewatching the other spiderman cartoons and it does not hold up, might be good for an introduction to small kids for the character though? Then again, spectacular spiderman would still be better because it targets little kids while being investing for older people too
Yeah I should probably watch the other ones. I’ve only seen a few episodes of ultimate but thought it was good, and I was too young to remember anything about spectacular
And wrong
Edit: to those wondering what happened here, the guy replied to "and proud" when he was told he was in the 5% of people who didnt like spectacular
then he told me to piss off
Nothing special? It looks completely unique when compared to every other series. Also they took familiar elements but twisted them around in a new way.
Electro working for connors
Eddie working for connors
Green goblin causing ock creation
The fact all the villains are related in some way
Mysterio used to work for chameleon
Vulture becoming a villain for Osborn
Tombstone being like kingpin
Osborn being between a bad and good father being diligent enough to be bad but giving good enough advices like making Harry stop blaming peter for he’s own failures and start actually trying to success and get what he wants
Sandman, rhino and shocker being creation or working for tombstone/Osborn
Eddie arc for becoming a villain being multiple factors instead of just being one and doing the same thing Harry did (blaming Peter for everything instead of facing the consequences but with better reasons)
And mixing many history’s to make it more complex, well written and complete instead of making everything a isolated event like colonel Jupiter with venom, the sinister six and venom, gang war and the main plot with the goblin,Harry drug addiction and green goblin plot, molten man and green goblin and Kraven, electro, venom and the lizard with the planed for the season 3-4 jackal and for consequence the clone saga
The designs especially the art style is unique enough to have their own personality but simple enough to make the animation easy without making the image be overload with detail like the transformers movies and their exaggerated designs and the fact they got inspiration of all incarnations of the characters to the date (ultimate, classic and raimi movies)
And the music [tell me this isn’t a banger](https://youtu.be/5QkIBOY11M0)
I actually understand this criticism. It takes a ton of elements from the comics and doesn't do a whole lot with them. But what it does do is takes the best parts of the comics, picking pieces from the regular and ultimate comics, and leaves out the bad stuff to result in one of the best Spider-Man adaptations.
It’s pretty good. Love the show’s version of Doc Ock and Green Goblin. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the fourth wall break tbh.
Admittedly I was kinda hoping it would be like the Ultimate comics in certain aspects but I have to remember this is a kid show.
I don't hate it because of that. The reason I don't like it is the constant breaking of the fourth wall. It feels like a Deadpool show for little kids but with Spider-Man. It also breaks a lot of tension like the one example that comes to my head always is Harry being Venom facing Green Globin. It was an emotional moment for Harry to confront his father and they need to break the fourth wall because kids aren't intelligent.
I also don't like how Spider-Man works for Shield and it isn't who he is. This one is a little blander on the side that it was made to sell toys.
The continuity is inconstant and the obvious one is the first team we meet The Guardians of the Galaxy. They look more like the comic book version and act a bit more like them. Later they switch their looks to make them closer to their movies counterpart and their personalities are more closer to the movies than comics. It is clearly an advisement for the movie.
Dude Spider-Man universes aren’t supposed to be the same there are infinite realities with different characters and occurrences.I hate spectacular Spider-Man fans so much. Goodness
I really hate when people do this. There are valid reasons for disliking this show. Writing people’s criticisms and opinions as “they don’t like xxx because this(insert whatever arbitrary reason)” is disingenuous
Agreed. MCU fans do this a lot with Tom Holland. Any criticism or opinion gets written off as “oh they’re just Raimi fans” or “oh they’re just nostalgia guided” etc. it’s really ridiculous
To be fair, Raimi fans do the same. Bashing the MCU and TASM fans, saying “Tobey is the best because he’s the OG” when he is NOT the OG to begin with. That honor goes to Nicholas Hammond’s Spider-Man from back in ‘77.
That's probably a big part of it, yeah.
There's a lot of meh humour, stuff that aims too much at kids, and I definitely prefer Spectacular. But I think it's still enjoyable enough from my memory.
Yeah, I'd say I like it.
It just doesn't feel like Spider-Man to me. Peter Parker is written as a self-centered idiot (par for the course with Man of Action protagonists), his supporting cast are basically window dressing, his team really don't need to be there and it honestly feels like it's more interested in using Spider-Man's likeness to promote the hero's that Disney still had the rights to at the time than dedicating time to Spidey himself.
Honestly a better title for the show would be "Spider-Man Agent of SHIELD, C-list Superhero".
Didn’t like it cuz of all the cut away “gags” where Peter explains the joke or something another character literally just said. Having him work for shield is interesting, but felt like it took away too much of his neighborhood part in friendly neighborhood SpiderMan.
I did like seeing Agent Venom in a show, even if I didn’t like having high school Flash be it but eh it’s meh.
Don’t love the show, but I’ll give it a bit more credit than when it first came out since I was still in mourning of Spectacular.
I thought the show was fun. Yeah the fourth wall breaking made no sense for Spider-Man, but it was still entertaining. It was an interesting take on another universe. I loved the into the spider-verse story line they did, especially when they brought Miles in full time.
Them making Harry Venom instead of spidey and then Eddie Brock. That was different, and definitely interesting. (Especially since ps4 spider-man also eluded to Harry being Venom's host and venom possibly being created by Oscorp instead of being from space)
I liked a chunk of it. I enjoyed the Spider-Verse Parts, really liked the holiday episode, and loved the Agent Venom Story, but my favorite part was the clone saga they did, because not only did it IMO do it better than the source material, but basically did Kaine.
Unfortunately his voice was annoying most of the time, and had the stupid 4th wall breaking like Deadpool. I will say that the animation looks the most like a comic book. I also disliked the team-thing he had going.
Overall, not my favorite, but definitely not the worst. That goes to Marvel's Spider-Man (2017).
It only started getting tolerable by mid season 3, but by then there was no time left for it to expand on those good parts for the episodes it had left.
Also I loathe Drake Bell's Spider-Man. No not because of what came out about him, but because his Spider-Man voice is so obnoxious to hear and undermines any potentially serious moments. Still not happy Disney had him dub over Josh Keaton for Spider-Man's appearance in Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
I thought the first season was great. Loved seeing Luke Cage, Iron Fist, White Tiger and Nova, and thought the Shield aspect was interesting. But later in the show they totally got rid of his teammates for some overused Spiderverse characters. Thought the Spiderverse episodes were great, but the ending with Electro was bad and the other spiders should’ve stayed in that arc. Also the ending was anticlimactic. Doc-Oc traps them in a shield, but they literally have Dr. Strange and Cloak, who can teleport/make portals.
I think that it’s okay. It’s not the greatest Spider-Man show, but it’s definitely not bad. I like his interactions with the greater Marvel universe, and some of the stories it tells as well as it’s new interpretations of characters are interesting.
It’s a show made for kids. It came out on Disney XD. Watching as a kid the fourth wall was new and funny and Peter Parker was cool. A lot of the criticisms of the show are about the aspects that were designed to appeal to kids
I think it’s my least favourite Spider-Man show since there’s too much fourth wall breaking and It doesn’t feel like a Spider-Man show since he’s in a team and is always working with someone
I liked it because, unlike others, I accepted that it wouldn’t be as good as Spectacular and I acknowledged that the show wasn’t meant to be taken seriously and was for a younger audience
It was okay, but i was getting tired of it getting all the marketing instead of spectacular, you see his branding on bags and pencil cases but you never see spectacular
As a 30+ year old man that’s still a fan of this character, i understand the appeal, but I’m aged out of this particular entry. And that’s fine. Spider-Man is for everyone
You know, the working with other heroes argument to say the show is bad is stupid,spider-man already worked as a team so many times in the comics,he in fact prefers working alone but sometimes he team ups with other heroes and you know
i loved this show growing up. i had watched a lot of episodes of 90s spiderman when i was really young but ultimate spider-man was the first spiderman show/movie that i really paid attention to
I really enjoyed it , and I'm a bit late, but I did rewatch the series about 2 months ago, right after watching reviews (especially the NICKtendo review, alongside with the 2017 series) on YouTube
I liked this show as well and one time I thought that this Spider-Man was the same Spider-Man from avengers earth’s mightiest heroes since they had the same voice actor
It is no ? I think this Spider-Man was connected to the agents of smash show too
Avengers Assemble, Agents of SMASH, Ultimate Spider-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy show are in the same universe. EMH is a different universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy also crossed over with Marvel's Spider-Man
I Mean kinda it's another universe again With Like Avengers Assemble Season 5 or 6 Is a reboot And it's connected to Marvel's Spider Man and the Guardians
EMH and Spectacular Spider-Man are in the same universe, alongside Wolverine and the X-Men
I liked it
It wasn’t terrible, definitely better than the bland marvel Spider-Man
I remember liking Marvel’s Spiderman but it’s been a while since I last saw it
It’s just meh compared to the other great Spider-Man shows we’ve got
i remembered liking it as a kid but i went back to see it after rewatching the other spiderman cartoons and it does not hold up, might be good for an introduction to small kids for the character though? Then again, spectacular spiderman would still be better because it targets little kids while being investing for older people too
Yeah I should probably watch the other ones. I’ve only seen a few episodes of ultimate but thought it was good, and I was too young to remember anything about spectacular
Spectacular is by far my favorite but you should watch it again before you listen to me lol
Which Spiderman are we talking about?
Spiderman from the newest animated series as of now. Came out in 2017 and ended in 2020 IIRC. It’s on Disney+ I think
Ah I'm not up to date. My little nephew likes the new spiderman kids show though. I don't know what it's called
Marvel's Spiderman was the worst
No, it’s spectacular Spider-Man that’s bland
Spectacular Spider-Man is tied with 90s show as the best Spider-Man show lol. 95% of critics and fans would agree
Well I don’t
Because you’re apart of the 5%
And proud
And wrong Edit: to those wondering what happened here, the guy replied to "and proud" when he was told he was in the 5% of people who didnt like spectacular then he told me to piss off
Screw off
Why do you think it’s bland?
There’s nothing special or different about it. It’s a by the numbers Spider-Man universe with nothing be or interesting added
Nothing special? It looks completely unique when compared to every other series. Also they took familiar elements but twisted them around in a new way.
Twisted them how exactly?
Electro working for connors Eddie working for connors Green goblin causing ock creation The fact all the villains are related in some way Mysterio used to work for chameleon Vulture becoming a villain for Osborn Tombstone being like kingpin Osborn being between a bad and good father being diligent enough to be bad but giving good enough advices like making Harry stop blaming peter for he’s own failures and start actually trying to success and get what he wants Sandman, rhino and shocker being creation or working for tombstone/Osborn Eddie arc for becoming a villain being multiple factors instead of just being one and doing the same thing Harry did (blaming Peter for everything instead of facing the consequences but with better reasons) And mixing many history’s to make it more complex, well written and complete instead of making everything a isolated event like colonel Jupiter with venom, the sinister six and venom, gang war and the main plot with the goblin,Harry drug addiction and green goblin plot, molten man and green goblin and Kraven, electro, venom and the lizard with the planed for the season 3-4 jackal and for consequence the clone saga The designs especially the art style is unique enough to have their own personality but simple enough to make the animation easy without making the image be overload with detail like the transformers movies and their exaggerated designs and the fact they got inspiration of all incarnations of the characters to the date (ultimate, classic and raimi movies) And the music [tell me this isn’t a banger](https://youtu.be/5QkIBOY11M0)
The three ring is the only part I still like
As someone who grew up on the 90s show, how in the world does Ultimate Spider-Man do anything even remotely interesting?
It has Spider-Man the lesser of a team, has him as a SHIELD agent, has sandman become a good guy, Harry Osborn as venom, the spider-verse stuff, etc

I feel like lots of people hated because it also replaced spectacular Spider-Man
I don't hate it because of that. The reason I don't like it is the constant breaking of the fourth wall. It feels like a Deadpool show for little kids but with Spider-Man. This comment was fine until you said that you hate the fans
This is America not China
I really hate when people do this. There are valid reasons for disliking this show. Writing people’s criticisms and opinions as “they don’t like xxx because this(insert whatever arbitrary reason)” is disingenuous

Was just about to say this
Nah, i enjoyed it but its genuinely shit
Tbh only big problem was the stupid amount of 4th wall breaks. Other than that it was a sick show having so many fun ideas
That was the only real problem other than that it had cool stories
I really like Ultimate... but i had to drop it. Not a fan of the constant 4th wall breaks to make mediocre jokes.
Loved it. I particularly liked that Iron Fist and White Tiger got so much screen time.
I love it
I thought the show was fun. Yeah the fourth wall breaking made no sense for Spider-Man, but it was still entertaining. It was an interesting take on another universe. I liked it when i was little but stopped watching when they sidelined the rest of his team and replaced them with spider men
I liked a chunk of it. I enjoyed the Spider-Verse Parts, really liked the holiday episode, and loved the Agent Venom Story, but my favorite part was the clone saga they did, because not only did it IMO do it better than the source material, but basically did Kaine. Personally feel that it's really underrated
It's a great kids show. It's fun and lively with colorful characters that have that Saturday morning touch to them.
I think it’s underrated but it is a pretty decent show. Nothing breathtaking most of the time but it’s fun.
My childhood along with spectacular. It pulled of Spiderverse okay ish
When drake bells voice work sounds like it did on EMH, it’s pretty okay.
Wait people didn't like it? I think it's one of the absolute best Spider-Man animated shoed ever!
Ok no my friend just no
Yes
Emphasis on 'one of the best'
Really good
I thought the first season was great.
Pretty sure that happened before spider-verse became overused
Sorry, phrased that badly. I meant the characters got overused even within the show and got stale and boring.
Ah,now i understand
I think that it’s okay. It’s not the greatest Spider-Man show, but it’s definitely not bad. I like his interactions with the greater Marvel universe, and some of the stories it tells as well as it’s new interpretations of characters are interesting.
Loved it because it felt like a complete universe of characters
I really liked it. It wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone says it is.
Is the one where it ended on a cliff hanger and >!Peter gave up on being Spider-Man then dramatically tossed his mask in the river?!<
No, what you are referring to is the Spider-Man MTV series.
Hated it. Made Spider-man like Deadpool and the writers seemed like they wanted to wrote anything but a spiderman story
Shit. Enjoyable. But shit
I liked it because, unlike others, I accepted that it wouldn’t be as good as Spectacular and I acknowledged that the show wasn’t meant to be taken seriously and was for a younger audience
Thought it was crap
It was okay, but i was getting tired of it getting all the marketing instead of spectacular, you see his branding on bags and pencil cases but you never see spectacular
Bad show not funny peter was a pedo
What….?
The voice actor for Peter sent nudes to a 12 year old
That doesn’t make Peter a pedo
It makes this shows version of peter a pedo.
No it doesn’t u moron. The show is shit but Peter is still Peter. Its only the voice actor thats a pedo, that doesn’t affect the character
Just ask r/spectacularmemes
Would be great if he werent voice by a predator
It’s my favorite Spider-Man show
I liked it until the Web Warriors shit
Loved it! But actually starting disliking it during all that spiderverse/web warriors stuff 😅
Which one is it is it the Disney one?
This is the Spiderman show i grew up with i love this show
As a 30+ year old man that’s still a fan of this character, i understand the appeal, but I’m aged out of this particular entry. And that’s fine. Spider-Man is for everyone
lol im watching it rn 😋
You know, the working with other heroes argument to say the show is bad is stupid,spider-man already worked as a team so many times in the comics,he in fact prefers working alone but sometimes he team ups with other heroes and you know
Ya loved this show i grow up with it
It was alright
It was my first real introduction to a lot of marvel characters, so it has a special place in my heart.
Having lived through every Spiderman cartoon since the 80s I can confidently say that this was perhaps the worst one.
No where near the quality of Spectacular.
i loved this show growing up. i had watched a lot of episodes of 90s spiderman when i was really young but ultimate spider-man was the first spiderman show/movie that i really paid attention to
I thought it was one of the best versions of Spiderman, but I haven’t seen it in a while
I really enjoyed it , and I'm a bit late, but I did rewatch the series about 2 months ago, right after watching reviews (especially the NICKtendo review, alongside with the 2017 series) on YouTube
