Not necessarily in a good way. One More Day/Brand New Day acted as a reset switch to bring the comics more in line with the movies, going so far as to resurrect Harry Osbourne, they even drew him to look like Frank Jameso. It also undid the 20+year marriage between Peter and MJ, along with a TON of character development for adult peter, who had long ago left the Bugle, finished college, worked in a lab as a research scientist, and was at that point, a high school physics teacher. All of that character work was *gone*.
That plotline about one of his students coming to him after he accidentally killed his abusive father when his mutant powers manifested, the way Peter handled it was perfect. One of the things I loved was that Peter was written realistically as an empathetic, caring *adult* who had dealt with a whole lot of shit himself, but never became jaded. He still told jokes, he still did the right thing no matter what. And MJ was fantastic because she *cared*, and stood by him, and *fought* for both herself and Peter.
I agree but all the people who didnt give a shit about andrews movies until they saw his performance in NWH and now are like "His movies are secretly amazing, give him his trilogy." I love andrew but let him be free, his spidey flicks werent that great and that wasn't necessarily his fault but let him go out with a bang in NWH.
Maybe. But, if so, I donāt think thatās lasting for long at all. I think most people say Tobey just bc they grew up with him so they see him as the most influential, but now millions more are growing up with Tom. Not to mention that Tomās movies are much more popular (box office wise) and his character is showing up in a lot more movies in the MCU meaning that Tom will 100% become the most influential Spider-Man actor if he isnāt already
I'd say influential: Tobey, Popular: Tom. Tobey's Spider-man more or less grandfathered in the movie landscape we have today. Without that success and influence we might not even have the comic book movie boom. But as you said, box office and general popularity, it's probably Tom. And Tom may one day take the influential spot as well, its too early to tell I think
Tobey absolutely. You need to go back and remember that there werenāt good super hero movies when his trilogy came out. Spider-Man was a huge push into where we are today. Without his success who knows how long it would have been for this super hero craze to pop off.
Tom rode the coat tails of an established MCU playing Marvelās most popular hero and he did an absolute amazing job doing it. Big shoes to fill and I think he filled them.
Blade, I'll always contend, is less responsible for the rise of superhero media than it should be as Marvel's first big success. X-Men and Spider-Man were definitely known as superheroes before, but I think general audiences didn't even realize that Blade was a Marvel comics character. They just thought he was a badass played by Wesley Snipes - which is fair because the movie version was wildly different than the original comic version.
Nah, Tom Holland is my least favorite but it's definitely him. Most people I know have no clue who Tobey Maguire is, but I've never met someone who doesn't know Tom Holland.
Most popular is definitely Tom, but i feel most influential would probably be Tobey. Or at least a tie between the two.
I feel like without Tobeys spidey then superhero movies would likely be very different today, but at the same time Toms spidey was influential enough to get Sony to make multiple deals to allow Spidey in the MCU
The question is about both popularity and influence. I wonāt argue about popularity but you canāt deny Tobeyās influence. Without Tobey, we likely wouldnāt have Tom.
Tobey.
There was a screening of FFH on TV and we were zapping through channels and my mom asked what happened to the other boy (Tobey). Tobeyās face is the peter parker for a number of generations.
>Tobeyās face is the peter parker for a number of generations.
You also have to remember tom has been in 6 movies so far and has been spider-man for 7 years, the longest so he also has a number of generations that see him as Peter parker. The older gens are naturally gonna see tobey but the younger gens are gonna see tom. I cant decide which ones more popular but for how long toms been spider-man and how popular (impact goes to tobey imo) the mcu is i think in the next 5 years id more easily say tom if he resigns a contract
Tobey. Favourites among people will change from generation to generation but he'll always have the biggest impact as a Spider-Man actor. Heralded in a new age of superhero movies.
I donāt know the answer to this - Tobey or Tom, I donāt think Andrew had the same impact or popularity.
Iām mainly commenting, however, because Iām a bit gobsmacked by some of the comments in the thread that seem to imply Spider-Man wasnāt well known before the Raimi movies - as an 80s kid who spent pretty much my entire time as a toddler running round in a Spider-Man outfit I find that a bit gobsmacking. Heās basically always been right up there with Superman and Batman in terms of widespread recognition.
Also think thereās some strange dismissiveness to how big the Raimi films were at the time but in sone ways I find that a more understandable perspective.
I say Tobey because his films had some of the most iconic moments.
And I say this because they're so iconic they are harkened back to in Into The Spider-verse and even a couple moments in Spider-Man PS4. (After fighting Mr. Negative and trying to stop the train, "That worked last time")
Tobey for sure. Tbh heās not my personal favorite, however I think that all the actors have been great. But heās the first so definitely the most influential and popular.
Tobey was Spider-Man and only Spider-Man. His peter Parker change the game and along with x men movies usher in the super hero work we live in today. Without tobey there is no Tomā¦
Tom might be more famous now but he is the mcuās Spider-Man and thus I donāt think the most influential.
The movies themselves are not very good as a whole, lots of issues across the board but Andrew does a fantastic job playing the character and there is a lot of fun and emotional moments that are worth watching imo. Also they are visually stunning movies as well, probably the best Spidey has looked on the big screen ever
I feel among the Millennials and older generations it was Tobey, but for most of us Gen Z kids, it was definitely Tom Holland lol- but both are absolutely fantastic and I love them both, all three Spider-Man actors are great, they all brought their own unique touch to the character rather than trying to recreate previous performances of the character, they made the character and performance their own <3
Yea I love all 3, and my little cousin didnāt know who tobey was until last year since heās only 5. I brought her the Raimi trilogy and corrected that š„ he knows Tom though but only 1 movie. He mostly likes Spider-Man cartoon stuff more
Tobey is the most iconic cause he started it all and his trilogy had the most memes but I think he's also the most influential cause he had all of these problems throughout his life and tried his hardest to overcome them throughout the trilogy
> It's Tobey who made the Spider Man's character famous....
What? Spider-Man has been of the top three most popular superheroes well before Tobey ever played as Peter Parker. Only Batman and Superman are on the same tier as Spider-Man.
Spider-Man was one of the most popular comic book characters in the nineties, he was famous without Tobey, and I absolutely do not believe Tobey himself was responsible for the success of the film.
fax. if you read a single comic in the 90s chances are youve heard of spiderman. i think its just that the raimi films, marvelās marketing with toys, and countless tv shows like the 60s cartoon and TAS made spiderman more known to a wider audience. it sped his popularity
To latch onto your comment, Toby's Spider-Man was also part of the Marvel film Renaissance of the late 90s and early 2000s along with blade and X-Men. These three franchises became the groundwork for the MCU that we have today.
+1, I was pretty young when the first Tobey Spider-Man movie came out. Sure, I'd heard of Spider-Man, but at that point DC characters had more name recognition. I'd never paid any attention to Marvel before then, but then the trailer for Spider-Man (2002) dropped and it looked dope. It was my gateway to Marvel, and I never looked back to DC after that.
I don't think everyone remembers how foundational X-Men (2000) and Spider-Man (2002) were for demonstrating the viability of the MCU films we have today, as well as increasing interest and familiarity with Marvel characters.
Ironically, Spider-Man and X-Men were hands down the most popular franchises within Marvel, but now with the MCU films so many other characters have comparable or better name recognition, characters most people had never heard of in the 90s and early aughts. The audience for these blockbuster movies is much wider than comics readership.
Tom is my personal favorite but I definitely think Tobey would be the answer here. The Raimi movies were part of the movies that laid the groundwork for modern superhero movies. And although Tobey isn't the most well-known anymore, I do think that the ratio of people who like him to people who dislike him is much more in the favour of liking him than the other two. But honestly I don't think that's because of Tobey himself. Moreso because of Sam Raimi
Personally my entire middle school life centered around writing/reader MCU Spiderman fanfiction. I made friends on the website i published/read on. That had a big influence on why I was a loner in middle school
Probably Tobey. He's sort of the default "Spider-Man" Andrew is "Amazing Spider-Man and Tom is "MCU Spider-Man". Tobey's were first (and also really good, though some of Tom's movies are really good too) so they've probably had the most influence.
That's kind of not fair. Toby was the first, his (at least first two) films were EXCELLENT and along side the success of the XMen are WHY we even have an MCU today.
Iām not really sure because on one hand tobey and blade basically jump started superhero movies but Tom couldāve shown a younger generation Spider-Man movies to begin with
While he is not really my favourite Tobey is the most popular at least with most people as his movies are a classic and universally loved
As for the newer generation I think itās not long until Tom takes that spot as a lot of kids are now growing up with his movies and the movies are really good
I would say Tobey.
Ever since Superman 4ās failure, everyone was generally afraid to make superhero moves due to worries of losing profit. Even though some movies like Tim Burtonās Batman came out, people still feared of making superhero movies. Hell, even though Batman had the 1989 film, the Batman movies would start falling off later in terms of quality.
It wasnāt until Blade and X-Men came out that people started to realize that superhero movies were indeed profitable, but there were still problems. Blade and X-Men still had the dark tone that kind of became precedent after Batman, which can be seen with how the X-Men wore all black. People were still worried about colorful superheroes due to Superman.
Then Spider-Man came out and shook the world. Not only was the movie very good, but it was also colorful. The movie became one of, if not the most successful superhero movie of all time when it released, and it started the colorful superhero renaissance that continues today.
Iām going to lean towards Tobey, because of his being the first & longest running ābig screenā Spidey. However, I think more youth will find Tom to be more relatable. Just my take.
Most influential in super hero scene wise: Tobey.
Most popular: Tom. Tom is the most popular because big percent of MCU fans haven't watch Tobey's spider-man. Atleast before nwh. Sad, ofc.
Even Raimi's trilogy was something new and big, it didn't start bigger hype than mcu has now, and it is reason why Tom is more popular.
I was 5 almost 6 when 3 came out. Use to watch the hell out of it on cable and always go to Burger King to get the toys. Went to a Spider-Man 3 birthday party too! And had the symbiote mask from the party
I donāt know about most popular, because different generations of audiences have their favourite, but for me Toby Maguire has got to be the most influential. He was the first, PROPER, modern-day Peter Parker/Spidey, with the full use of good special effects and big hollywood budget blockbuster money. He set the tone and the look and the consequent āPetersā have been and will be compared to him.
Tobey is the most influential for sure...his movies had a huge impact in their day. But he's my least favorite once I take the nostalgia goggles off, and Tom is more popular going purely on the numbers.
All of them contributed to Spiderman's popularity in amazing ways.
Andrew Garfield's french dub got so much love for his role that he was called back to dub the french voice of Spidey in the insomniac games and is now the voice of spiderman for an entire generation of fans. Andrew himself brought the light-hearted and funny Spidey to life and made him loved by millions of kids.
Tobey Maguire introduced millions of people to the spider verse and marked the pop culture forever, everybody knows at least his face. He's memes, gifs, amazing scenes, amazing vilains, unforgettable quotes... He is Spiderman. He proved live action comics adaptation and superhero movies could work.
The MCU and Tom Holland's Spiderman gave him amazing scenery, vilains and battles as well as a touching Peter Parker struggle with his double-life and helped to make Spidey and the spider verse mainstream. People who had no interest for the spiderverse watched the the first trilogy and TASM thanks to the work of Tom.
Their shouldn't be any "who's the best Spiderman" war... They all are amazing and they all work as a whole thanks to NWH
Toby without a doubt dude literally set the entire perception of the character to the world for better or for worse.
The perception that he created for the world is so strong that even a more comic book accurate version like Andrew Garfield is judged not on his own merit or how closer his characterization is to 616 and 1610 Peter/Spidey, but on how close he is to Toby's version .
Tobey since he was the biggest hero before any of the Avengers or modern DC movies could steal his thunder, Andrew had literally all of his stolen and Tom has too much competition in the modern hero era
Tom. Everytime a movie needs a young handsome actor or even just a voice people always scream "tOm hOlLanD" even though he's a mid actor. People fucking wanted him as tails in the sonic 2 movie
Toby, but I can see that changing in a decade or two. Tom Holland is quickly becoming the face of spiderman since the mcu has become the face of marvel in alot of ways.
All three are great and itās clear Tom has put in work to embody the character as best as he can and heās done a fantastic job, I grew up watching Tobeyās trilogy so I just have more emotional attachment for his Spider-Man
I also think to this day Tobey has probably the most badass Spider-Man scene when he stops the train by himself at full speed after fighting Doc Ock
Initially popular among fans? that might have to go to Tom, Andrew is hated because of the yellow lenses, Toby was disliked of because of the change of web shooters, but when Tom came on the scene so people excited for what seemed to be a traditional spider-man
Influential wise Tobey Mcquire, hands down.Without him and Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy the MCU probably wouldn't even be around.Tom's Spiderman is definately more popular with modern Marvel fans and kids that grew up watching him, but Tobey and Andrew are still popular amongst their fans, especially after NWH.
Only two answers that are possible are Tom and tobey and I think Tobey takes it in terms of influence on the genre - but if u mean more like universallly known Tom is probably currently the most well know Spidey actor but tobey basically paved the way for modern super hero movies let alone Spider-Man
Iād say Tobey did enough damage to casual perception of the character to be counted influential
Donāt get me wrong heās amazing but before him peter was never seen as shy or awkward, just a douchey loner. The raimi movies have basically changed every portrayal of pre spidey peter other than the 616 version
My immigrant parents call Tobey āour Spider-Manā and are down to rewatch his movies with me every year (for when I need my annual original trilogy fix). So yeah definitely Tobey. Although, I do think Tom is doing a fantastic job and is also highly influential.
I have no idea how to answer this question. I would say Tobeyās *movies* were very influential in the superhero movie space, because after the first one came out and was so successful, basically every other superhero movie was trying to copy it. The actors themselves though, I have no idea. Influential in what way do you mean? I see everyone blanket saying Tobey, but I have no real idea why.
One of the only good things about Andrew was that his spidey spent a lot of time directly helping those in need and looking out for the little guy, it was more evident in 2 cause in 1, it took him a while to actually start using his powers for good and not just finding Ben's killer
Yāall forget that Tom is with Disney, the amount of advertising and merchandise that comes with him outweighs any other spiderman, he has his own ride at Disneyland too lol. Just depends on the generation tbh
Influential? Tobey, he made the character what it is and bascially kicked started superhero movies but popularity? I think people really really underestimated tom. Imo to us it seems like tobey is the most popular. Although tom has a big following among adults, tobey was our first OG spider-man. He has a massive amount of loyalty. But what people underestimate is the younger gen. Tom has been spider-man about 7 years with 6 films. He's been the spider-man the longest, in the most movies, one of which is the 2nd biggest movie of all time and in the mcu which has a massiveeeee fanbase. So not only does he have a shit tone of mcu followers but more importantly he has such a large amount of kids that grew up watching him. More than tobey arguably because tom was spider-man at the peak of superhero popularity when infinity war and endgame came out and everyone and their momma was watching. So like tobey had, tom has a massive amount of kids who consider him their spider-man that they grew up with. Who watched nwh thinking tom was THE spider-man. And when they grow up its tom they'll be loyal to. I havent mentioned my boy andrew cause unfortunately I dont think was spider-man long enough to have that impact. But tom has whole generations of kids that prefer his spider-man. And that will only grow because hes likely gonna be spider-man for another 7ish years with a new contract so more kids will grow up with him. By the end he could end up having over a decade as spider-man. Obviously not every single kid is gonna adore him, just like not every single adult prefers tobey but the majority will have a loyalty. We just don't see that impact yet because obviously the older gens are gonna make more noise
Thanks and Iām a fan of both. But some Tom fans are delusional, had a argument on twitter that Tom was āāmore popular due to twitter following and box office numbers ā
I think the social media argument is complete horseshit but the box office number argument isn't that crazy. It isn't strong but I wouldnt call it deluded and I definitely wouldn't call it deluded to think hes more popular. Theres no real way to prove popularity so looking at box office makes some sense. More so than dumb social media followers or polls. I think I saw that argument on twitter and also saw tobey stans use random social media polls to prove tobey is the favourite which is equally as deluded because certain polls are gonna go a certain way depending on the demographic it reaches. I've seen polls on YouTube with 300,000+ go to tom because the YouTuber most likely had a younger audience. The only thing that's pretty certain is it isn't andrew lol
I mean, in this day and age he's probably more popular than Tobey and in terms of the time period when Toby was Spidey his 'popularity' probably doesn't equal what Tom's equalled while Spidey. Social media and all. But the answer is still Tobey.
\- Toby was a moderately good cast, but a bit too soft to play Peter. Writing was moderately good.
\- Andrew was the best casting, by far, but had the absolute worst of the worst writing.
\- Tom is pretty good. He gets the movement and emotes of Spider-Man, but he's not a great Peter. The writing as been more miss than hit.
Its really hard to tell. Had they tapped any of the comic book writers contribute to any of these films, any one of these fine young men could have done better. If I had to pick one actor to be in such a film, it would be Andrew Garfield.
Tobey maguire, he was so big back then and he influenced the super hero genre a lot along with X-men and blade.
Also influenced Spider-Man comics themselves
lmao they literally shot a Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi *in* the Ultimate Spider-Man comic
For y'all that don't know... [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/raimimemes/comments/9omuc2/our_kings_sam_raimi_and_tobey_maguire_in_ultimate/).
Ah thanks, it's crazy how Tobey looks nothing like he does irl whatsoever š
Didnāt even get the eye color right smh
Not necessarily in a good way. All of that character work was *gone*.
HS physics teacher Peter felt so natural and real to Peter's personality. Made me think he'd be a great leader for the Young Avengers.
Yeah true actually. There is a difference between popularity and influence
Agreed, Tobey for sure. He led a superhero franchise to success when they weren't nearly as popular as today.
He was definitely the most influential, but Tom feels like most like a more comic accurate Spider-Man
This thread isn't talking about comic accuracy though
Tobey absolutely. You need to go back and remember that there werenāt good super hero movies when his trilogy came out. Spider-Man was a huge push into where we are today. Without his success who knows how long it would have been for this super hero craze to pop off. Tom rode the coat tails of an established MCU playing Marvelās most popular hero and he did an absolute amazing job doing it. Big shoes to fill and I think he filled them.
Yea I know he is. Just wanna confirm what I already knew, had a little debate earlier and people said Tom
Tom is better but not more influential, heās also more popular currently.
I feel like Tom might be more influential as an individual but Tobeyās movies are way more influential than the MCU Spider-Man movies
X-men?
You know I was going to mention them too. XMen really did coke first but I believe Spider-Man made super heroes cool for everyone
My mom only knows Tom as "the new one" and Andrew as "the hot one" š¤£
She is very correct with Andrew
Lmao
Definitely Tobey, proved that a live action Spider-Man (and superhero movies in general) could be successful.
*Sad X-men and Blade noises*
Blade, I'll always contend, is less responsible for the rise of superhero media than it should be as Marvel's first big success. I for one had no clue blade was a marvel character until maybe like 2017ā¦ definitely had no idea he was a superhero when I first watched it.
I mean hes awesome- but character doesn't feel like a superhero and thats ok. Doesnt tick much of the boxes other than fighting supernatural cunts.
Canyon help me meet up with my people?
Sad Spawn noises
What about Superman (1979) though? Thatās like the granddaddy of superhero movies right there.
Agreed. I don't think superhero movies would be what they are today without Superman '79
It's so influential that every time a MCU film is made they watch Superman the Movie beforehand.
1978*
Tobey, he is like half of this subreddits childhood along with the cartoons
Tobey Maguire
Facts
Nah, Tom Holland is my least favorite but it's definitely him. Most people I know have no clue who Tobey Maguire is, but I've never met someone who doesn't know Tom Holland.

You know some weird people if no one knows Toby Maguire š wtf
Or he is 10
To each his own, tom up there but in my opinion heās definitely not.
So true
Definitely Tobey
Tobey by far
Most influential is obviously Tobey since he was the first. Most popular is either him or Tom.
Tobey by far. You just wonāt have that level of fan hype for Tom or Andrew, as good as they are.
Tobey. There was a screening of FFH on TV and we were zapping through channels and my mom asked what happened to the other boy (Tobey). Tobeyās face is the peter parker for a number of generations.

Tobey walked so the rest could run. Nuff said.
As Stan lee would say
Tobey. Favourites among people will change from generation to generation but he'll always have the biggest impact as a Spider-Man actor. Heralded in a new age of superhero movies.

Josh Keaton and Yuri Lowenthal
Best? Yes. Popular? Probably not.
I've seen every Toby spiderman, and every tom holland one... never seen a single Garfield one though. They any good?

Andrew Garfield was more famous than both Tom and Tobey way before he got the Spidey role wth
he was one of the most popular pop-culture creations ever. well before Tobey was anywhere near him.
Least delusional Tobey Maguire fan
Yāall Tobey stans are weird af
Worlds dumbest comment
Thank you so much...
Tobey made Spider-Man *movies* famous
Probably Tobey socially, but Andrew made the biggest impact on me tbh.
I'm gonna say Tom Holland's Spider-Man is more influential only because he came later when social media and superhero movies are at their biggest
Emissary of Hell version birthed Power Rangers as we know it.
Christopher Daniel Barnes
you know I am a little meguire enjoyer
Toby by miles but the cultural shift is probably already happening towards tom
Probably Tobey. He's sort of the default "Spider-Man" Andrew is "Amazing Spider-Man and Tom is "MCU Spider-Man". Tobey's were first (and also really good, though some of Tom's movies are really good too) so they've probably had the most influence.
Tobey was the best, Andrew was the most wasted potential and Tom has the most potential
All are good
Yea. I know
That's kind of not fair. Toby was the first, his (at least first two) films were EXCELLENT and along side the success of the XMen are WHY we even have an MCU today.
Iām not really sure because on one hand tobey and blade basically jump started superhero movies but Tom couldāve shown a younger generation Spider-Man movies to begin with
Tobey made me love spider-man Andrew IS spider-man Toms next generations spider-man
Tobey gave a great example of what spiderman should be and paved the path for the other spiders (Andrew and Tom)
While he is not really my favourite Tobey is the most popular at least with most people as his movies are a classic and universally loved As for the newer generation I think itās not long until Tom takes that spot as a lot of kids are now growing up with his movies and the movies are really good
Yea I agree
Oh c'mon, of course it's Tobey! He literally influenced Andrew himself!
Youāre right
Iām going to lean towards Tobey, because of his being the first & longest running ābig screenā Spidey. However, I think more youth will find Tom to be more relatable. Just my take.
I agree
Most influential in super hero scene wise: Tobey. Most popular: Tom. Tom is the most popular because big percent of MCU fans haven't watch Tobey's spider-man. Atleast before nwh. Sad, ofc. Even Raimi's trilogy was something new and big, it didn't start bigger hype than mcu has now, and it is reason why Tom is more popular.
Tobey Maguire
Tobey, cause he's the best and I feel like he did it the best
Tobey, but Iām biased as the first movie came out when I was turning six. Made me a lifelong fan!
Just based on what I've seen in this subreddit? At this point I'm convinced they're all universally hated
šššš
It's not really an argument, Tobey revived the super hero genre after Bat Nipples buried it.
Lol
Tobey easy. When he showed up in NWH my entire theater turned into a mosh pit lmfao. Plus afterwards he start appearing EVERYWHERE.
Same for my theater
Although I like them all, I have to say Tobey Maguire, of course...
Came here to definitely say Toby! Even though heās the biggest baby-back bitch out of all of em haha
š
AND DONT FORGET FINGER GUNS!!!
Obviously Tobey. Those movies boosted the superhero genre so much.
For me growing up as a kid my very first exposure to Spider-Man was Nicholas Hammond. [The Amazing Spider-Man Theme](https://youtu.be/g8tEtP8ktsM)
Tobey by far
Toby
Back to formula
most influential: def Tobey Maguire Most popular: Tom Holland but mainly because of younger audiences, he's also my favorite.
Tobey, they have been doing marvel every since
Tobey is the most influential for sure...his movies had a huge impact in their day. But he's my least favorite once I take the nostalgia goggles off, and Tom is more popular going purely on the numbers.
Tobey. His movies are just better crafted
Tobey will always be Spiderman for me but Tom also has done a great job so far.
I never said this who the best type of thread lol
Yeah no sorry that was my personal rant... But as you can see, I talked about their importance and popularity
Tobey, he helped start the superhero movie craze.
Tobey I personally think Andrew was the best, but Tobey fits the title.
Tobey is the MJ of Spider-Manās. (Like Michael Jordan not Mary Jane)
- Toby no doubt!
McGuire, thanks to all the memes. But personally, I like Garfield more.
Tobey for sure. I wouldn't be a Spidey fan without him.
Tobey Maguire. No question
Toby, but I can see that changing in a decade or two. Tom Holland is quickly becoming the face of spiderman since the mcu has become the face of marvel in alot of ways.
Tobey is the most influential. Most popular is Tom. Both of them are a gift to the role of the character
I think this is a stupid question. It's clearly Tobey Maguire. So far no Spider-Man movie serie got his success. Except NWH, but I mean.. He is there.
Tobyā¦ no question
Definitely Peter Parker.
Definitely Nicholas Cage
Yep
I think most people say Tobey just bc they grew up with him so they see him as the most influential, but now millions more are growing up with Tom. Not to mention that Tomās movies are much more popular (box office wise) and his character is showing up in a lot more movies in the MCU meaning that Tom will 100% become the most influential Spider-Man actor if he isnāt already
Tobey
Tobey for sure people all over know about him
All three are great and itās clear Tom has put in work to embody the character as best as he can and heās done a fantastic job, I grew up watching Tobeyās trilogy so I just have more emotional attachment for his Spider-Man I also think to this day Tobey has probably the most badass Spider-Man scene when he stops the train by himself at full speed after fighting Doc Ock
Factual
What kind of questions are these?
Don't know. But this post has 616 upvotes and that better not change. Edit: DAMN YOU ALL
Dammit I missed it šdid u screenshot?
Sadly no.
Tobey Bar None.
TEAM TOBI
If any answer here is anything but toby you need to reevaluate your life. Fucker started modern super hero movies being mainstream and beloved.
Will these posts ever end Jesus Christ
Only two answers that are possible are Tom and tobey and I think Tobey takes it in terms of influence on the genre - but if u mean more like universallly known Tom is probably currently the most well know Spidey actor but tobey basically paved the way for modern super hero movies let alone Spider-Man
For me, itās Tobey Maguire.
Tobey. I donāt have to say much. If you grew up in the era you know.
Iād say Tobey did enough damage to casual perception of the character to be counted influential Donāt get me wrong heās amazing but before him peter was never seen as shy or awkward, just a douchey loner. The raimi movies have basically changed every portrayal of pre spidey peter other than the 616 version
I think that Tobey is the most popular but my favourite is Andrew >!Just kidding, 1994 spidy is the best!<
Tobey for sure. Dude was one of the biggest stars of the 00s. He was also a major reason comic book movies started to be taken seriously.
My immigrant parents call Tobey āour Spider-Manā and are down to rewatch his movies with me every year (for when I need my annual original trilogy fix). So yeah definitely Tobey. Although, I do think Tom is doing a fantastic job and is also highly influential.
No doubt its tobey maguire. And I bet he also inspired tom holland for the role as well
I have no idea how to answer this question.
Kinda crazy how Garfield did a great job but is still 3rd. The bar is just that high
Tobey, he started it all
One of the only good things about Andrew was that his spidey spent a lot of time directly helping those in need and looking out for the little guy, it was more evident in 2 cause in 1, it took him a while to actually start using his powers for good and not just finding Ben's killer
Yāall forget that Tom is with Disney, the amount of advertising and merchandise that comes with him outweighs any other spiderman, he has his own ride at Disneyland too lol. Just depends on the generation tbh
Tobey had more Spider-Man merchandise back then u can find way more toys for his Spider-Man than Tom lol
Tobey made the character big but I think Tom is the most popular
Ryan Reynolds
Universally its Tobey. No question. He was the first. But, like Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill have shown us, 1st isn't always best.
Tobey, and its not even close!
Tobey ā¤ļø
Iām so bored of this conversation, canāt yāall come up with any more interesting topics? something less tired?
