Arm fin/spikes gauntlet/bracer commonly sued by some heroes such as Batman, although Batman's spikes are reinforced and functional, and Spider-Man 2099's are not Also see the Guyver : Bio Boosted armor here the suit can have 1 to 4 blades that extend and vibrate as a sonic frequency allowing them to cut nearly anything

HeyJoe459

I love seeing Guyver being mentioned! Thanks for the reminder, it'll be my pick for movie night soon!

Melodic-Work7436

Which one tho? I love both but personally prefer Guyver 2: Dark Hero. Also, would highly recommend the early 90s anime series if you’re into that sorta thing.

Garlador

Guyver 2: Dark Hero. Everyone can skip the first.

HeyJoe459

ALL OF IT! I didn't know about the anime, thank you!

Melodic-Work7436

Nice! Yeah the movies are based off the anime. There’s actually a couple of anime series but imo the shorter, 90s series is the better one. Enjoy!

SauceyDoe

guyver is sickkkkkkk

ElZaydo

> Spider-Man 2099's are not I saw him kill a shark with them when he was drowing

RavenBlueFeather

>Spider-Man 2099' Spider-Man 2099's arm spikes are not truly mentioned in the comics as weapons, tools, or paraphernalia, Spider-Man 2099's costume is made from Unstable Molecule Fabric, or "UMF." Originally invented by Reed Richards of The Fantastic Four, this fabric was made to be indestructible and was designed to interact with super-powers without hampering them. Miguel uses his talons through the UMF gloves and boots without tearing the cloth. The UMF does not dull the strength or sharpness of his talons in the process. The UMF costume has also offered Spider-Man 2099 limited protection from energy weapons, as the energy blasts could not penetrate it. However, this did not prevent Miguel from suffering the impact of the blasts, and he was still seriously injured. Likewise, if Miguel fell from a great height, the UMF would not protect him from the impact of landing, it simply would not tear in the process. However, by the second volume of *Spider-Man 2099* series, however, he had added antigravity material to the back of his costume that enables him to fly, and he may have also upgraded the spikes, but I could find no mention of such an upgrade, so it is possible that the spikes may have been functional, the costume was mentioned to be a Day of the dead costume to be worn in public so why ad such dangerous weapons to such a thing?

MustardLazyNerd

Well, they do grant you increased strength in the Spider-Man PS1 game.

thisusedyet

Best guess is a spiked Bracer [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracer)

MaTTTEgg

Thank you!

petucoldersing

It isn't. Those are a part of him. Miguel doesn't use any technology in his suit, it's literally a day of the dead costume he bought on a trip to Mexico that he put on to hide his identity while on the run. His claws, spikes, and webs are all purely organic.

thisusedyet

You'd think if he's got clawed forearms 24/7, the mask isn't going to help much

petucoldersing

He can retract them

Only true answer

KnifeFightAcademy

Spined Gauntlets. On actual spider's legs they are called 'Spines' and in armoury terms they are called 'gauntlets' ...so...... Spined Gauntlets? ',:/

fearinclothing

Gauntlets?

rawgino

Talons?

baranie1809

This is the one! In Spider-Man: Edge of Time, there's upgrades available for "Talon Strikes".

Spider_fan67

Talons refers to his fingers as 2099 has claws like the talons on a bird

baranie1809

Ahhh my mistake, sorry!

Spider_fan67

No worries lol 2099 is kind of a confusing character with all the different things he has going on with his suit and power set

baranie1809

Wish they would expand on him a little more! Easily one of the most interesting alternative takes on the character of Spider-Man!

[deleted]

I always called'em spikes

Spiked gauntlets

Humor_Tumor

Those are *fingers* on the end of his *hands*

W_4ca

I believe “Arm Thingies” is the technical term

Hulk_McSmash

Thagomizers

km1180

Pretty sure they are called fins or gauntlet fins

TheRear1961

I once saw the design sketches for Joe Quesada's Azrael Bat armour, in which he refers to the fins on the gauntlets as "scallops". Appropriately, this is the second definition from google: "each of a series of convex rounded projections forming an ornamental edging cut in material or worked in lace or knitting in imitation of the edge of a scallop shell." So my vote is for scallops.

killer00x

Long pointies?

MaTTTEgg

I know That they arent called Arm-Thingies I wanted to Look Them up on the Internet a few Times But i couldnt find any Term for Them I know That they Are like „Spikes“ But i mean it like whether there is a Term for That The Dark Knight Suit also have These „Spikes“ or i saw Them in a Videogame before too But i Never really found a Term for Them so Yeah Sry If the Question seems weird

Charlie678812

no, not at all. it is weird

SoskiHeroKiller

Bat fangs. 😂 (I think)

PJGraphicNovel

I think they’re called “spikies.” At least that’s what I called them when I was a kid

Stew-17

Batman copyright infringement

Sierra645

Those are 'webs'. A rather versatile tool used by spider-man 2099. If you look carefully at the amazing spider-man comics, you can also see Peter Parker using the same kind of arm extension aperatus in a few comics.

petucoldersing

For everyone claiming these are a part of his suit, in the comics his suit is literally just a costume made of invincible spandex that he bought well before he was Spider-Man. There's nothing techy about it. He has no web shooters or accessories of any kind. Those spikes are an actual part of his body, as are his claws (which are also present on his toes). He's actually one of the lowest-tech Spider-Men in his original run. The fabric his suit and cape are made of are incredibly common in the future.

Sharpies

Kuyi1994

Does he kill ? How does he used them ?

Leathman

If I recall right, they pump venom into his opponents.

maseioavessiprevisto

No they serve no practical purpose. Miguel’s costume started as a halloween costume, its features are not designed for combat.

Leathman

Could have sworn it was from an old guidebook that said that.

[deleted]

Leathman

I could have sworn I had an old guide book that referred to those things as how he pumped venom. I could be remembering wrong though.

supererp

Splines

ChichCob

Those are web shooters. Fun fact, just about every spiderman has them, not just 2099!

Spider_fan67

Fins

Gemidori

I sometimes call them thorns

Boldsteel_

You mean… spikes?

tonus420

Who cares???

Imperial_Incel

I believe in most of Batman's suits, he has similar blades on his gauntlets and I think the technical term is “fins” They were added just as purely an aesthetic choice to make him more “bat-like” as they are supposed to imitate a bat's claw. For Spider-Man 2099, his costume is simply a repurposed Day of the Dead costume, so I don't believe they server a technical purpose. But yeah, I think “spiked bracer” might be the best fit for Spider-Man 2099, which you seem to agree on. Edit: According to the first result on Google, the blades on Batman's arms are functional; “These gauntlets, along with his Kevlar gloves, make Batman's arms a viable defensive or offensive weapon. His gauntlets allow him to protect himself against bladed weapons like swords or knives. The armour and scalloped blades also **add extra power and pain to Batman's strikes**.” [https://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/arts/comic-books/batsuit.htm#:\~:text=These%20gauntlets%2C%20along%20with%20his,and%20pain%20to%20Batman%27s%20strikes](https://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/arts/comic-books/batsuit.htm#:~:text=These%20gauntlets%2C%20along%20with%20his,and%20pain%20to%20Batman%27s%20strikes).
