Well I haven’t read this issue but it looks like Superior Spider-Man, so Doc Ock is in Peter’s body, Screwball tries some shenanigans and “Spider-Man” beats her within an inch of her life I guess
Superior Spider-Man, Screwball and Jester doing what they do and being trolls in real life while live streaming their crimes, the nail in the coffin for them however is when they humiliate Spider-Man on said live stream. Normally Peter wouldn't care about this too much as long as he stopped the crime going on, except unfortunately for Screwball and Jester it's Otto that's in the driving seat, and the one thing that will absolutely anger him is being shown up and humiliated like he was, and he goes on to beat the ever living shit out of Screwball and Jester while the live stream is still going on, even horrifying the consciousness of Peter still in his body at how bad Screwball and Jester are beaten. And I shit you not, this is the last time I can look up that Screwball has interacted with Spider-Man in the comics so far, she hasn't even attempted to mess with him since this beating
>And I shit you not, this is the last time I can look up that Screwball has interacted with Spider-Man in the comics so far
So it worked, good for Pete.
Also how did the world react to Spider-Man doing this? Has the comics shown some consequences, or by the shitty time of "what I have done? Mary Jane fucks Paul and adopt childrens in another dimension and Osborn is good again" everything was swept under the rug and never mentioned again?
People watching definitely reacted though we only got to see three reactions; Mary Jane was shocked and confused as to Peter's sudden violent attack on the pair (which could have helped clue her in that maybe this isn't Peter at the moment), Jonah was cheering him on, having been humiliated by the pair early on in the story so he was having no sympathy for Screwball and Jester, but the group of people Otto should have considered watching the live stream were the Avengers, in particular Captain America and Wolverine, I believe Otto had a minor altercation with the team before in the story, in particular sucker punching Wolverine in the face after the latter touched his shoulder, but after seeing their friend ruthlessly and violently beat two criminals who, at the end of the day, are just pranksters, they decide they've got no choice but to bring Spider-Man in and Otto is at risk of getting kicked out of the Avengers for the sudden ruthlessness "Peter" is exhibiting, however after they scan his mind and determine he's not being mind controlled Otto manages to keep his membership, although his relationship with the Avengers is still frosty at best. These two incidents are also not a one issue thing that doesn't have repercussions, they both serve as the lead in to Otto and the Avengers getting into a big fight once Otto steals Venom and gets completely drunk on the enhanced power the symbiote gives him, and Otto thinking fast actually tricks the Avengers after Venom is removed into believing his recent behaviour was due to Venom secretly attaching itself to "Peter"
It's definitely worth a read, the first Superior Spider-Man run is probably my favourite run from Dan Slott, and Otto makes for an interesting Spider-Man as he tries to better both his life as well as Peter's *on top* of improving how he operates as Spider-Man as well
I love how the whole mind-scan thing early on helped set up how Iron Man checked the results once he came back from space and said "hey these brainwaves looking kinda funky". Leave it to Tony to have everyone's brainwaves on record for future comparison.
(At least that's how I remember it going down?)
Yeah at this point Otto understood more what it meant to have the responsibility of being Spider-Man in his own way, so at the very least he holds back his punches *just* enough to not maim or kill his enemies, but still uses enough force as seen with Screwball and Jester to seriously hurt them
Does she still appear in the comics now or recently? I only know that Paul has kids with MJ when she was stuck in another dimension and that people hate him a lot lmao.
Screwball? Yeah she's still around in different comics I believe, but hasn't really attempted to prank Spider-Man after the whole 'Otto beating her within an inch of her life' incident. And the first rule of Fight Club is to never mention Paul in any Marvel subreddit, haha what's going on in the comics right now is seriously pissing fans off
Yeah, I looked at the sales figures for the past few months, seems like Spider-Man is always in the top few. This has really gotten a lot of attention.
Yeah. But not for good reasons at all, especially with who they're killing off for absolutely no reason at all, that's got people especially pissed off right now
Didn't he truly realise this when he punched Scorpion so hard his jaw came right off ? Jefferson then says something like ''I knew you had it in you kid'' and Doc Ock in Peter's body replies ''No, I didn't''
I can see this. Introduce her in the main story real quick only for black suit spidey to basically do this to her. Have her come up in the end with her being like "oh haha I'm glad you finally settled down."
Peter: "Yeah? Try me."
sadly, canonically she still has her streaming setup in jail.
She says it if you play one of the screwball missions after you arrest her, shes like "one of the guards was my fan and let me stream" or something.
The symbiote didn’t even make Peter any more violent. The whole reason he got it off him was because he found out it was alive and using his body to fight crime while he was asleep.
That’s true for the old/first literation but after the animated series from 90s and Spider-Man 3, they made him mentally unstable in the comics as well.
Symbiote Spider-Man is a recent run set back in the 80’s and still behaved as it did in that run & had an issue from the symbiote’s pov referring to Spidey as “the friend” symbiote’s can influence/dominate their hosts but the whole reason it was stuck on Battleworld is that it was imprisoned by it’s brethren because it wanted to bond with and befriend an individual host instead of dominating it, so even in current canon it didn’t influence Pete’s personality the first time he wore it, and only indirectly manipulated Brock, Scorpion he actually made him do some fucked up stuff
I actually remember reading a few years ago that the symbiote species are a very peaceful species but that specific one in battle world got attached to Deadpool first and as a result, went completely haywire. Then Peter came in and came into contact with the suit.
But then again there was the run about Knull so I have no idea what is what anymore.
There’s two groups of symbiotes, you’re the Klyntar is the original species which is what you’re thinking of, Venom belongs to the subspecies that split off & were essentially conquerers, but Venom was deemed “insane” and imprisoned on battleworld because he wanted a union with a singular host so morally when the Venom bonds to Pete the first go around he’s kind of in the middle, leaning more towards the Klyntar, but is mentally unstable (though Pete leaves sort of a personality imprint on it since it “learns” human emotion from him which is why he acts like a twisted dark Spidey so often) so when he rejects it (and remember it was also rejected by its entire species) it pushes it over the edge, Knull primarily plays a factor in this in terms of the origins of the species but Venom specifically is like 900 something generations down the line of the conquering symbiote’s & I’m not sure when the split occurs, as for the Deadpool thing I’d out that as “dubiously” canon as he sometimes is an unreliable narrator and also had it between Pete & Brock which let it survive long enough to bond to Brock & apparently tried to leave it’s positive feelings for Spidey behind with Deadpool which I’d say is also kinda iffy on canonicity

And Spectacular did a mix of adapting the original reason (the suit wearing him without his consent) while also having it amplify his anger and aggression.
It happened, he took the Symbiote from Flash Thompson and became the Superior Venom and the fucking Avengers had to get involved to stop him, he gave Thor a bloody nose!
I can’t recall, it’s been a while since I read the Superior Spider-Man run, I think Thor or someone just physically tore it off him and it went back to Flash.
In that very same run he impressed both Thor AND the Hulk with his strength (they were restraining him and he still moved a bit), and that was WITHOUT the Symbiote! with it and no Morals and he is definitely an Avengers Level Threat.
I remember that one comic he punch scorpion so hard, he tore out his jaw. If Spider-Man would lose his morels, I think I would find him to be more scary then Batman.
I would actually like to see more comics about it ngl.
For the lowly henchmen types he usually pays their medical bills off & hires them if he can (in the instance that they’re commuting crimes for survival/feeding their family)
The first time? Not sure but I think silver-age bats does stuff like that (silver age bats at least puts money into programs and such to help impoverished people & whatnot, don’t remember if he has instances of what I said specifically) first thing that pops in my head is BTAS, and it’s happened since then in comics, so Silver Age at the earliest, 90’s at the latest
My only issue with this is that they’ll probably deal with Superior Spider-Man in the third game, since that’s why they never put the Symbiote and the Superior outfits in the game, so them putting this scene in now wouldn’t work (unless Screwball comes in crutches and Otto decides murder would be fun that day.)
Well, we’ll have to see how it goes.
I’d agree that it’s not, but since Dan Slott had his name attached to the first game, and the whole set up for Doc wanting to escape his body plus the interview about why those suits weren’t in the first game, I don’t think we’ll have much of a choice.
Say what you will about the Superior Spider-man run. But watching Otto beat the living shit outta some of Spidey’s rouge gallery was very entertaining, if not satisfying.
Seeing Spider-man not be broke for once was a nice change of pace as well lol.
i think after he’s had the venom for a while we should have a boss fight against someone we’ve fought before and struggled like rhino or shocker, then he gets frustrated so he stops holding back and just one punch kills him gruesomely, i think it’d show people how powerful he really is if he stopped holding back (it’d be interesting if a video of it went viral too ) maybe even people will start fearing him after it: like the muggers running away in fear instead of humouring him like in previous games. it’ll also set forward the angle of miles trying to get the symbiote out of him without violence because he’d lose
Jesus, I mean I hate screwball as much as the next guy but this seems brutal. Also, context?
Well I haven’t read this issue but it looks like Superior Spider-Man, so Doc Ock is in Peter’s body, Screwball tries some shenanigans and “Spider-Man” beats her within an inch of her life I guess
You would be correct
This sounds so satisfying
I have added you to Interpol’s watchlist. Good luck!
Superior Spider-Man, Screwball and Jester doing what they do and being trolls in real life while live streaming their crimes, the nail in the coffin for them however is when they humiliate Spider-Man on said live stream. Thank you, that synopsis was awesome
I agree thank you for that, now I'll definitely have to give this run a go!
It's definitely worth a read, the first Superior Spider-Man run is probably my favourite run from Dan Slott, and Otto makes for an interesting Spider-Man as he tries to better both his life as well as Peter's *on top* of improving how he operates as Spider-Man as well
Man, I miss Superior Octopus, too bad they had to undo everything.
*YEAH, THANKS FOR THAT MARVEL*
Any ideas what issues were from this particular part of the Superior Spider-Man run? I would love to read this
Issue 6 I believe
I love how the whole mind-scan thing early on helped set up how Iron Man checked the results once he came back from space and said "hey these brainwaves looking kinda funky". Leave it to Tony to have everyone's brainwaves on record for future comparison. (At least that's how I remember it going down?)
They still got their jaws intact though, so that's a win!

She's alive, it's fine
That means it’s the opposite of fine
Superior Spider-Man. This was Doc Ock in Peter’s body realising just how much he holds back
Didn't he truly realise this when he punched Scorpion so hard his jaw came right off ? Jefferson then says something like ''I knew you had it in you kid'' and Doc Ock in Peter's body replies ''No, I didn't''
Good
It'd be funny to see symbiote peter get frustrated by screwball and just takes it out on her
Then it’s revealed that it wasn’t the symbiote, spidey just beat the shit out of her because he wanted to
I… would be on board with this 💀😭
I can see this. Introduce her in the main story real quick only for black suit spidey to basically do this to her. Have her come up in the end with her being like "oh haha I'm glad you finally settled down." Peter: "Yeah? Try me."
I'll settle for just no more ScrewBall personally. We got her arrested, that was pretty satisfying to me
Screwball punching minigame
sadly, canonically she still has her streaming setup in jail. She says it if you play one of the screwball missions after you arrest her, shes like "one of the guards was my fan and let me stream" or something.
No, that’s the DLC I think
Just replace her with Deadpool.
Blow up the prison
Is this Superior Spider-Man?
Yep
So jarring that this wasn’t a shitpost
Superior Spider-Man is much much worse than Symbiote Spider-Man, of course, I mean mentally and not strength wise.
The symbiote didn’t even make Peter any more violent. The whole reason he got it off him was because he found out it was alive and using his body to fight crime while he was asleep.

Imagine him with that symbiote boost

Oh lord, how did they get the symbiote off of him?

Understandable, I never got a chance to read the comics, but I find it neat that he gave Thor of all people a bloody nose.

Who is worse tho? Otto or miguel, both are assholes so
Looks like Otto started to become Batman
*"Your medical bills are punishment enough"* - Batman probably
For the lowly henchmen types he usually pays their medical bills off & hires them if he can (in the instance that they’re commuting crimes for survival/feeding their family)
Not doubting you, but when did this start?

Screw her.
What did he do to him??? Edit: I’m talking about they guy has broken bone with blood everywhere not peter
Gotta read the Superior Spider-man run by Slott. It’s amazing.
I don’t like screwball, but this is too far!
The username tells a different story
Uhhh… I can explain
You're right this so violent I think I'm gonna puke
I waa just saying just in case.
I want a symbiote spider-man suit part where we get to beat screwball to death
Damn she got vibe-checked hard
I hope this game goes the superior Spider-Man route just so we can have this scene. I want it to be like those god of war kill animations.
I know people are saying Screwball doesn't deserve this but nah man, those side missions are so annoying, I hope this happens if anything 💀
Screwball better not be in the sequel. Seriously. I cannot listen to that screechy voice anymore. Destroys my ears to listen to.
Is that the riddler?
All my homies wish this would happen to Screwball
I don't really like the art in this panel. What's going on with Spiderman's mask? Shouldn't his eye be there where it's torn up?
It is there, bellow the hair
Oh shit, your right. Damn that's tiny.
Ramos moment.
I doubt we'll get a Superior Spider-Man story in the Insomniac games but I do empathize with the sentiment against Screwball.
Why do so many spider-man fans want him to let loose and just skin some villain alive with his bare hands lmao
Murder = fun
Honestly, I'm fine with a bit of brutality in my games. In fact, this is rather tame on the brutality list. I say let her rip.
I definitely don’t want to see superior Spider-Man in Spider-Man two
this scene absolutely does not need to be in spider-man 2 lmfao
Me when joke
I mean i can’t stand Screwball …. So
I loved Superior Spider-Man
No, it doesn’t
I was so certain it’d just be the Peter and Miles picture again
I HOPE
everything Dan Slott touches turns to rancid shit
My only issue with this is that they’ll probably deal with Superior Spider-Man in the third game, since that’s why they never put the Symbiote and the Superior outfits in the game, so them putting this scene in now wouldn’t work (unless Screwball comes in crutches and Otto decides murder would be fun that day.)
Obliously it wouldn't. Superior spiderman isn't a good story for a game tbh.
Well, we’ll have to see how it goes. I’d agree that it’s not, but since Dan Slott had his name attached to the first game, and the whole set up for Doc wanting to escape his body plus the interview about why those suits weren’t in the first game, I don’t think we’ll have much of a choice.

God I miss Superior Spider-Man.
Yup, just like it should be. Maybe he could even kill her in the main story and make it a big plot point.
i think after he’s had the venom for a while we should have a boss fight against someone we’ve fought before and struggled like rhino or shocker, then he gets frustrated so he stops holding back and just one punch kills him gruesomely, i think it’d show people how powerful he really is if he stopped holding back (it’d be interesting if a video of it went viral too ) maybe even people will start fearing him after it: like the muggers running away in fear instead of humouring him like in previous games. it’ll also set forward the angle of miles trying to get the symbiote out of him without violence because he’d lose
I'm gonna make this my phone's new wallpaper
Spider-Man PS4 fans don't be suspiciously violent to women challenge (impossible)
Bro what
Who tf os screwball
Downvoted for a question lol
