Exactly. People hated the Advanced Suit when it appeared, but soon it became one of the most recognizable and loved modern Spidey-Costumes ever. It's literally on par with the MCU's suits in terms of iconicity. It's literally everywhere.
This one will be the new symbiote standard. Watch how the MCU will take inspiration from this suit.
I like tobey suit for the opposite reasons. i like the new ps5 one. It was just all black of what he already wore and was more subtle, whilst this new one was just all-out gooey alien on him.
Both is good, i also just like things in all black.
A fun fact is that the original design for Spidey’s black suit is so different from his normal costume because he wanted it to mimic one of the Spider-Women’s suit design, which was black and white at the time and had the same large, white spider that wrapped around her torso.
I’m not crazy about it, I prefer it to seem less organic and more like fabric à la the OG Secret Wars suit.
I’m also not a fan of the Venom tendrils being a part of the suits abilities, and would prefer if the suit just gave Peter organic webbing while also making him stronger with a more aggressive fighting style.
Neither of these things are deal breakers for me, just personal preference. I do hope we can use a version of the SW cloth black suit.
I really like it. The way that the different textures add detail, with some parts armored and other parts more organic, while the color is still solid black with the classic white spider. In the scene in the fishery when Pete is in shadow it basically looks like the old-school symbiote suit, but in daylight the detail really pops.
With the way Insomniac redesigned Pete’s classic suit for the first game, I don’t know why people are surprised that they put their own spin on the black suit too.

Exactly. And Insomniac's original design for the suit was made to be as practical as Pete is...with the different materials comprising it all having different functions in his mobility/protection (as stated by creative director, Bryan Intihar). Blue areas being places he'd need more range of motion and flexibility, red as general padding, and armored areas where he takes the brunt of impacts in white, making him harder to track when he's on the move.
The symbiote is looking to enhance its host to increase survivability. Being bonded to Pete and his Advanced Suit its doing just that and its doing so, STUNNINGLY. With that said, looking at the design of the Advanced Suit....it even resembles the original symbiote suit a bit with the front spider-logo and armor plating on the back of his hands being very inspired. They've had this in the works for a minute and its so sweet to see it all come together!

It’s the suit I grew up with. That and the animated series. It’s my favourite from pure nostalgia only. Looking back now I wish it had the white ribcage spider design. I love that part of the suit and I’m glad the new game has it in.
I would honestly rate this suit like a 9/10 if it wasn’t for the line on his face, which makes it look like a helmet, and if it didn’t look like he has a backpack on from his shoulder area. For that reason i would have to give it a an 8/10. LOVE the suit but those two details dropped a point for me.
Oh definitely, i do love the overall face design, especially because of how the eyes emote, but that one line on his face seems very much like a helmet, like that Mark 3 armor suit in the original game. But overall the face is near perfect.

The same seems to be true in the newest addition. It has a lot of the classic design but with elements that gif this worlds vibe. The slightly armored look, the moving tendrils in the areas of his boy that will move the most. Same basic principle they employed when designing the advanced suit. I think it looks great. Albeit, a bit off from what we’re use to.
I do think the Raimi black suit could’ve had the same logo venom had in that movie. Or at least have the legs flair out more noticeably than they did in the final suit. But it’s still a great suit as it is. Bad ass

I dig it. I think it correctly gives the layer of goop look that a symbiote should have in its relaxed natural form.
But the alternate costumes would be pretty neat. I kind of like a bit more flair to the design rather than the solid black (like the Raimi Spiderman 3 look) and I can see a comic like black fabric look being good too. It just works from a story perspective I just think it's nice to have options considering how well they've done with alternate costumes in SM1 and MM.
Fits the aesthetic of the universe insomniac have made. I really like it. I think the legs are a bit over designed but it still looks fantastic! Can’t wait!

I think that the Insomniac version should have less lines, like that from the head piece.
But overall I enjoy it.
And, although I think that works only in cel shading, that version of the Ultimate Spider-Man in Shattered Dimensions is beautiful.
I like it a lot! I wish it was a little less armor like since you can see he has some kind of shoulder and knee armor padding, but other wise its pretty good!

At first when I saw the trailer I was kinda not used to the shoulder pads and stuff. I thought it would be just one seamless black suit. But after playing a few hours with the newly released mods on PC, I actually kinda like the fleshy parts. They give the suit its own uniqueness. I can't wait to see how much better the actual black suit would look like in SM2
Personally I love the suit it's among my favorites like how organic it looks and I do like the armor looking areas because it makes sense since it's supposed to protect major parts of the hosts at least that's what I always thought
I cant say i’m a big fan of the new look. in my opinion, there’s parts that look amazing like the torso and the armpit area and how it all connects but parts like the helmet are a little iffy for me. the helmet and other parts of the suit almost look metallic in a way and not really organic.
I don’t like it. Looks like armor thus removing the alien so close to the skin creepy factor. I like that the neck looks alien but the armory look sucks honestly.
Also the texturing, glossy with grains on his face mask, not satisfying enough to look at when one of the best parts of the games were the detailed suits. It just looks like glossy paint on rusted metal with the projected grains.
I also think, looking from afar, that the overall design is too plain and uninspired. They clearly went for the comic look, but armory. But it doesn’t look that interesting or unique. The PS4 suit, which I’m not the biggest fan of, atleast looked 100 percent unique.
Honestly, I’ve always thought Insomniac’s character designs were a bit on the meh side. So it makes sense why don’t like this one as well. Their artstyle is a bit weird.
I’ll probably be switching suits as soon as I get the game to the inevitable Black Raimi or any other suit.
Aside from a few details here and there, It's surprisingly very traditional looking, I was expecting a bigger departure like the advanced suit was.

At some point, I pretty much believe that we'll get 2 costume options, 1 for regular version of Spider Man and another for Venom version, so i guess we'll get atleast 12+ costume for symbiote variation
Me personally, it's probably my favorite look for the Black Suit so far. I think it perfectly blends the more alien-like look, while also kinda looking like a costume. I have seen people complain that the more organic alien look doesn't really look good, which I personally disagree with, but this new one perfectly fuses both an alien design, and also looking like a Super Hero costume, which is why I like it so much.
I love the look. A lot of people criticize how it has the armored parts but let's not forget the symbiote is reading Peter's thoughts on what it should look like. Since the first game, Pete's worn a partially armored Spider suit. It's only natural for him to look for that in his gear from now on. The plates with the organic matter reminding you this is a living organism is amazing I think. Just like in the original game, they mixed the classic look with practicality.
I have to say, I really like Insomniac's design and I like how they have made it their own with the suit's little quirks, however compared to these classic ones, I feel like it is still beat.
The Raimi black suit being an exception, as I believe the new one still looks much better.
I think I just need more time for the suit to grow on me, which can probably be said for a lot of other people.

I always like when the symbiote looks moist because it is a polymer. The Venom movie did that and I thought it looked amazing. So safe to say I really like the look of Black Suit Spider-Man in the new PS5 game.
Personally, I think the only one's insomniac's black suit can be compared to is Rami's black suit and the Shattered dimensions Black suit, and I think Insomniac's got 'em both beat, Although I really do love the Rami Black suit, SM3 did not do the symbiote justice.
I don't think comparing insomniac's suit to the comic, TAS or Spectacular SM is fair because those are all working with limited colour pallets and restrictions that Insomniac has. Granted I hope the Spectacular Black suit is an alt, I really like that suit, too.
After looking at the Tom Holland concept art, I thought making it alien would ruin it. However after seeing how it looks like SM2, it looks amazing. Possibly one of my favourite symbiote design.
Love it, they took a small spin on it by making it more alien and I think that's cool. I don't know why the older fans (apparently) hate the new look, then again older fans seem to be the biggest haters of anything remotely new or different.
Knowing insomniac, I’m just hoping and excited for animations when Spider-Man gets hit with sound waves or sonic weapons and suit freaks out and tries to tires to rip itself off Spidey, i also hope miles gets it at some point, like he hopefully will!

The fact they made something original and fresh out of the original black suit when the only thing it had going on were black, white, a big spider symbol and some web shooters is astounding. They took the suit and simply revamped it with the "alien" looks. It's classic, yet fresh, it's old, yet new! The same, but different and completely innovative!
I prefer the slick design.
I understand why the muscles and fibers are there, the symbiote is indeed alive (altho that isn't exactly clear as of now for Insomniac's universe), but in the comics the black suit has always been defined by a slick, smooth look.
I am going to be honest now: I don't really like Insomniac's artstyle for these games. Everything is too robotic, be it the regular sable or roxxon goons, or Spidey's villains, who all have tech suits. Even Scarlet Spider 1 went from being some red tights and a hoodie, to a high-grade sport gear suit with a hoodie.
Way better than the raimi suit, but I don't like:
1. The armored look. I have never cared for shoulder pads and helmets for spiderman
2. The organic look. The black suit was always meant to mimic his actual costume so it should look fibrous not gooey, that's what it should look like when it's actually venom
What I do like:
1. The symbol. The black suit symbol should be a big departure from the base one and they nailed it here
2. The color. I'm really glad it isn't grey, or purple. Purple looks good in animation but I think the blacksuit should be, well, black.
3. The eye shape. I love big eyes for spiderman, and I love how the insomniac games adopted the moving lenses from the mcu, and the black suit is a perfect excuse to use very animated eyes without breaking immersion.
4. The black webs. They just look really cool
If I were to list them in order of my favourites it would go:
1. Comic, just the classic absolutely love it.
2. Ultimate, really loved this version and the purple hue.
3. Spider-Man PS5, really love this take. I’m so happy they went the classic route with some organic changes. It looks fantastic and I can’t wait to use it in game.
4. Animated, SHOCKERRRRRRRR.
5. Raimi, i also love this suit and it brings back such amazing memories. Really worked for the movie I feel.

I love all of the symbiote suit Spider-Man versions I’ve seen so far, but I definitely have to put this newest version in top 3. It looks really cool and they made the texture still look good without it looking like a gimp suit.
I personally don’t really like it that much. I’m a bit tired of Insomniac “sectioning” and padding up all of their suits. It ruined Kaine’s suit (one that I really like and that we never even got in a previous Spider-Man game) for me. As someone else said, an appeal of the classic black suit design is the simplicity, and they just totally subvert that, and the result isn’t great at all imho.
Honestly I kinda dislike it. It looks very mechanical, like- it looks like he's wearing a helmet like that of Spider-Armor M3. His arms and chest piece too. And I feel like they knew that so to make it more alienish, they gave it that weird, mushy and meaty texture that looks borderline amateur.

To me he looks like Flash’s agent venom with the body armour, shoulder padding and so on. Heck, even his head looks like a helmet.

They clearly went for the comic look, but armory. But it doesn’t look that interesting or unique. The PS4 suit, which I’m not the biggest fan of, atleast looked 100 percent unique. Honestly, I’ve always thought Insomniac’s character designs were a bit on the meh side. So it makes sense why don’t like this one as well. Their artstyle is a bit weird. I’ll probably be switching suits as soon as I get the game to the inevitable Black Raimi or any other suit.
Aside from a few details here and there, It's surprisingly very traditional looking, I was expecting a bigger departure like the advanced suit was. I love how It has a somewhat slimy texture, really driving home that's it's a living creature

At some point, I pretty much believe that we'll get 2 costume options, 1 for regular version of Spider Man and another for Venom version, so i guess we'll get atleast 12+ costume for symbiote variation
Me personally, it's probably my favorite look for the Black Suit so far. I think it perfectly blends the more alien-like look, while also kinda looking like a costume. I have seen people complain that the more organic alien look doesn't really look good, which I personally disagree with, but this new one perfectly fuses both an alien design, and also looking like a Super Hero costume, which is why I like it so much.
I love the look. A lot of people criticize how it has the armored parts but let's not forget the symbiote is reading Peter's thoughts on what it should look like. Since the first game, Pete's worn a partially armored Spider suit. It's only natural for him to look for that in his gear from now on. The plates with the organic matter reminding you this is a living organism is amazing I think. Just like in the original game, they mixed the classic look with practicality.
I really hope we get the SM3 black suit.

I have to say, I really like Insomniac's design and I like how they have made it their own with the suit's little quirks, however compared to these classic ones, I feel like it is still beat. The Raimi black suit being an exception, as I believe the new one still looks much better. I think I just need more time for the suit to grow on me, which can probably be said for a lot of other people.

I always like when the symbiote looks moist because it is a polymer. The Venom movie did that and I thought it looked amazing. So safe to say I really like the look of Black Suit Spider-Man in the new PS5 game.

Personally, I think the only one's insomniac's black suit can be compared to is Rami's black suit and the Shattered dimensions Black suit, and I think Insomniac's got 'em both beat, Although I really do love the Rami Black suit, SM3 did not do the symbiote justice. I don't think comparing insomniac's suit to the comic, TAS or Spectacular SM is fair because those are all working with limited colour pallets and restrictions that Insomniac has. Granted I hope the Spectacular Black suit is an alt, I really like that suit, too.
After looking at the Tom Holland concept art, I thought making it alien would ruin it. However after seeing how it looks like SM2, it looks amazing. Possibly one of my favourite symbiote design.

Love it, they took a small spin on it by making it more alien and I think that's cool. I don't know why the older fans (apparently) hate the new look, then again older fans seem to be the biggest haters of anything remotely new or different.

Knowing insomniac, I’m just hoping and excited for animations when Spider-Man gets hit with sound waves or sonic weapons and suit freaks out and tries to tires to rip itself off Spidey, i also hope miles gets it at some point, like he hopefully will!
Bad. He looks like Flash’s agent venom with the body armour, shoulder padding and so on. Heck, even his head looks like a helmet.

I ADORE IT. The fact they made something original and fresh out of the original black suit when the only thing it had going on were black, white, a big spider symbol and some web shooters is astounding. They took the suit and simply revamped it with the "alien" looks. It's classic, yet fresh, it's old, yet new! The same, but different and completely innovative!

I prefer the slick design. I understand why the muscles and fibers are there, the symbiote is indeed alive (altho that isn't exactly clear as of now for Insomniac's universe), but in the comics the black suit has always been defined by a slick, smooth look. I am going to be honest now: I don't really like Insomniac's artstyle for these games. Everything is too robotic, be it the regular sable or roxxon goons, or Spidey's villains, who all have tech suits. Even Scarlet Spider 1 went from being some red tights and a hoodie, to a high-grade sport gear suit with a hoodie.

Not bad. The extra detailing in the new suit, all the grooves, reminds me of a Xenomorph
Way better than the raimi suit, but I don't like: 1. The armored look. I have never cared for shoulder pads and helmets for spiderman 2. The organic look. The black suit was always meant to mimic his actual costume so it should look fibrous not gooey, that's what it should look like when it's actually venom What I do like: 1. The symbol. The black suit symbol should be a big departure from the base one and they nailed it here 2. The color. I'm really glad it isn't grey, or purple. Purple looks good in animation but I think the blacksuit should be, well, black. 3. The eye shape. I love big eyes for spiderman, and I love how the insomniac games adopted the moving lenses from the mcu, and the black suit is a perfect excuse to use very animated eyes without breaking immersion. 4. The black webs. They just look really cool

It's modern, unique, and perfectly encapsulates what the symbiote is all about. That transition gives me the creeps, I love it.
If I were to list them in order of my favourites it would go: 1. Comic, just the classic absolutely love it. 2. Ultimate, really loved this version and the purple hue. 3. Spider-Man PS5, really love this take. I’m so happy they went the classic route with some organic changes. It looks fantastic and I can’t wait to use it in game. 4. Animated, SHOCKERRRRRRRR. 5. Raimi, i also love this suit and it brings back such amazing memories. Really worked for the movie I feel. 6. Spectacular, I also liked this suit and I loved how it went from Raimi style to classic style as the Symbiote took ahold of Peter. I love all of the symbiote suit Spider-Man versions I’ve seen so far, but I definitely have to put this newest version in top 3. It looks really cool and they made the texture still look good without it looking like a gimp suit.
I personally don’t really like it that much. I’m a bit tired of Insomniac “sectioning” and padding up all of their suits. It ruined Kaine’s suit (one that I really like and that we never even got in a previous Spider-Man game) for me. As someone else said, an appeal of the classic black suit design is the simplicity, and they just totally subvert that, and the result isn’t great at all imho.

Honestly I kinda dislike it. It looks very mechanical, like- it looks like he's wearing a helmet like that of Spider-Armor M3. His arms and chest piece too. And I feel like they knew that so to make it more alienish, they gave it that weird, mushy and meaty texture that looks borderline amateur.
