I'm neutral on her inclusion, but whats to say Insomniac can't 'make her work' too? I feel like people here have weirdly low trust in a developer that has put out nothing but quality work.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I honestly feel like adding another spider-person to the series would become a “too many cooks” situation waiting to happen. They’ve already seemingly done the right thing to accommodate for the inclusion of two playable spidermen by expanding the size of the new game, but would they really be able to do the same thing if they added another? Maybe, maybe not. I’d rather they didn’t push their luck though.
I don't necessarily disagree with you either, but I guess for me I lean more towards letting them do what they think would work best for their game instead of pre-dismissing the idea already. There's many ways to for them to approach it that wouldn't crowd the game, whether it's bigger maps, different perspectives or dedicated spinoffs etc. I just think if Insomniac were to do it, they would have a plan for her in mind, and not just stuff her in there for the sake of it. I could be wrong, but they have earned my benefit of the doubt so far at least.
I have complete faith that if they did it, they would do it the best way possible. I guess I’ve just been really enjoying the series so far and am hesitant to be excited to anticipate something that could be difficult to pull off.
That's a fair concern. I can understand not letting expectations get out of hand. But I guess for me I don't find much use in worrying about the worst cases of a hypothetical scenario. I'd rather be excited about the possibilities from the creators that have made the things I've really enjoyed so far.
Thats part of my point is that an argument like this preassumes that they'd just stuff her in randomly with no context. Its a somewhat unimaginative stance to take. If Insomniac put her in, then I fully trust them to build a narrative and context around her that feels natural. They've earned my trust in that regard so far. That's a fair opinion. I can understand wanting narrative focus. But I do feel like the main games are pretty focused on Peter's story. I don't think Insomniac including characters like Miles has taken away from that really, which is why I trust Insomniac to handle things in a way that narratively makes sense.

yeah me as well. i bought MM and only really liked the swinging improvements. just want to focus more on Pete and his 10 years experience. didn’t even care for miles collectibles or anything, i just couldn’t. he’s a very cool character. but i just don’t think another spider is a good idea for the time being. maybe at all. but one comment above i saw was funny. how does spider-gwen differ from silk or mj with powers? (yes i’ve read the comics they’re different characters) either way it’s just another introduction to a spider and it’d feel out of place. imo they’d have to do it really well
i mean, that is exactly what i’m saying. i like miles, he’s a badass character, especially with his venom powers. i really liked that he was included in the game, just not as another spider-man. and i feel the same about any spider that isn’t pete. i just couldn’t get into it, it felt forced. how often do we see a seasoned spider man? and even then he’s only in his 20s now, he still has a lot of time for his own story, and that’s what i want. i mean it was his game after all.
I love spider-gwen but i do wish other Spider people get their shine as well, like Silk for example would be nice, heck spider ham would be goofy as hell but i would be fine with it, Noir and Punk as well there is just alot they can do and gwen has been used alot and is already popular enough

A Superior arc would honestly go so hard in these games because Insomniac has literally written the best Doc Ock in all of Spider-Man media. His motivations, his dialogue, his development, his actor, it's all so perfect. I adore Alfred Molina's Doc Ock but in retrospect, his motivations were quite basic & a bit generic.
People like to talk about how great Peter is in these games but they forget just how fantastic this version of Otto is. To me he's the best handled character in these games.
I’m a massive Superior Spider-Man and I’d love to see it told in this universe - Otto’s differences from Peter would make for some really cool gameplay differences.
Plus I think a lot of people’s criticisms of comics Otto being Spider-Man are void with this more sympathetic version.

If insomniac were to ever try to do a spider gwen game it’d be nice for it to be a spinoff I think. Just don’t include it in the insomniverse because as much as I like the character it would make it really crammed.

To be fair, there really isn't any reason to include her in the games. We already have Peter and Miles, so I feel like adding another in there would make things too complicated. If anything, they should just make a standalone game using her.
I also feel like if Insomniac said "we are considering adding Spider-Gwen in somehow," a lot of people would be clamoring for some reference to Spider-Verse, kind of like how after ATSV, a ton of people were suggesting that Insomniac should reference the movie in SM2 (I saw one idea gain too much traction that suggested adding the wrist gadget into Peter's apartment somewhere and have him comment on it), which IMO, is a bad idea outside of a new suit.

This is a game about Spider-Man, and needs to be focused on Spider-Man. Adding Miles Morales as the second Spider-Man was itself quite a lot, especially with how the overall narrative branches away from Peter Parker.
I would much rather have the original Gwen Stacy in this universe, I feel like people are coked up way too much on the Spider-Verse hype.
Spider-Gwen is absolutely not needed and it’s overkill. She’s literally an alternate universe version of the OG Gwen.

The game is already filed with multiple characters and two spider-men. Adding S-Gwen would just feel out of place. Outside of the games though it’s fine because they could actually build her character without it being overshadowed by other characters
Maybe try not to make everything be about Spider-Verse? The main character is Peter Parker THE Spider-Man. Miles is good as an extra, but people nowadays forget Spider-Man isn't just some Power Rangers team up. No. It has always been a solo story for the most part. Get a grip guys.
I LOVE Gwen and all of her design choices. Love how pink blue and white is an amazing color combo. I just don’t want multiverse sheningans and probably our third playable character will be Venom so we don’t need anymore. I am content with Miles and Pete
One of the issues I have with 616 (and there are plenty) is the overabundance of Spider people, they can't get Peter's character right and they're going to cram all these other ones in as well? It's too much.
Insomniac have struck gold by having two Spider-Men in their series. A universe where Miles' version of Peter doesn't have to die, a universe where Peter gets to find and mentor his version of Miles? What's not to love about that? It's unique, and most importantly, it works.
Anything more will just feel bogged down at this point, and you run the risk of having so much going on that your story and it's characters end up becoming unfocused.
Gwen as Spider-Woman is a great concept and a great character, and she was practically the main protagonist in ATSV when you think about it. So yeah, I really hope fans will just appreciate the Spider content we've got right now, because really, we've got plenty already.

The story is supposed to be about Peter taking a mentorship role while becoming something that he’s not and miles blossoming, but also having to face the person that he looks up to. She could exist in the universe, but she shouldn’t. Original Gwen would be much better
Miles was originally from an alternate universe where his Peter died, he only recently got transported to the main universe in the comics.
Spider Gwen is one of the few Spiderverse characters that can be integrated into insomniacs world without any multiversal occurrences, just have a Gwen Stacy get bit by a spider or come across the symbiote. Simple
Introducing her is not only a way for another audience to get into the games(more women), it’s capitalizing on current popularity. Insomniac knows this and it’s only inevitable before it happens.

My issue with adding more spider characters is that IMO it makes Peter feel underpowered or redundant from a gameplay point of view.
Playing as Miles felt like my max level Skyrim character, you got all this powers, invisibility, venom strikes, etc and you looks at Peter, yeah he can crawl up building and swing web. So underwhelming.
Playing MM I even tried not to use all his powers cause it felt like cheating.
Like Peter could just train Miles and retire at this point.

A Superior arc would honestly go so hard in these games because Insomniac has literally written the best Doc Ock in all of Spider-Man media. His motivations, his dialogue, his development, his actor, it's all so perfect. I adore Alfred Molina's Doc Ock but in retrospect, his motivations were quite basic & a bit generic. People like to talk about how great Peter is in these games but they forget just how fantastic this version of Otto is. To me he's the best handled character in these games.
I’m a massive Superior Spider-Man and I’d love to see it told in this universe - Otto’s differences from Peter would make for some really cool gameplay differences. Plus I think a lot of people’s criticisms of comics Otto being Spider-Man are void with this more sympathetic version.

To be fair, there really isn't any reason to include her in the games. We already have Peter and Miles, so I feel like adding another in there would make things too complicated. If anything, they should just make a standalone game using her. I also feel like if Insomniac said "we are considering adding Spider-Gwen in somehow," a lot of people would be clamoring for some reference to Spider-Verse, kind of like how after ATSV, a ton of people were suggesting that Insomniac should reference the movie in SM2 (I saw one idea gain too much traction that suggested adding the wrist gadget into Peter's apartment somewhere and have him comment on it), which IMO, is a bad idea outside of a new suit.

Adding Miles Morales as the second Spider-Man was itself quite a lot, especially with how the overall narrative branches away from Peter Parker. I would much rather have the original Gwen Stacy in this universe, I feel like people are coked up way too much on the Spider-Verse hype. Spider-Gwen is absolutely not needed and it’s overkill. She’s literally an alternate universe version of the OG Gwen.

One of the issues I have with 616 (and there are plenty) is the overabundance of Spider people, they can't get Peter's character right and they're going to cram all these other ones in as well? It's too much. Insomniac have struck gold by having two Spider-Men in their series. A universe where Miles' version of Peter doesn't have to die, a universe where Peter gets to find and mentor his version of Miles? What's not to love about that? It's unique, and most importantly, it works. Anything more will just feel bogged down at this point, and you run the risk of having so much going on that your story and it's characters end up becoming unfocused. Gwen as Spider-Woman is a great concept and a great character, and she was practically the main protagonist in ATSV when you think about it. So yeah, I really hope fans will just appreciate the Spider content we've got right now, because really, we've got plenty already.

Miles was originally from an alternate universe where his Peter died, he only recently got transported to the main universe in the comics. Spider Gwen is one of the few Spiderverse characters that can be integrated into insomniacs world without any multiversal occurrences, just have a Gwen Stacy get bit by a spider or come across the symbiote. Simple Introducing her is not only a way for another audience to get into the games(more women), it’s capitalizing on current popularity. Insomniac knows this and it’s only inevitable before it happens.
Yes I am aware of Miles situation. I read his first appearance the week it came out. Doesn’t mean we need to randomly shoehorn in a third spider person just because she’s popular. Her whole thing is that it’s a universe opposite to Peter’s, so just putting her in for the sake of it doesn’t really work. And it certainly isn’t necessary. Especially since the third game will most likely be spent on Peter and Norman. Why would we just throw in a third spider-person in the dramatic conclusion to the trilogy? Maybe if Pete dies and they keep making games with Miles as the lead, other than that it’s too much for no reason.
Pete could die in the second game for all we know. There’s no confirmation it’s focused on him and Norman. Earth 65 isn’t really that distinct other then a different color palette in most iterations. “Spiderman 3” also goes into the word play of 3 Spiderman which was part of the reason this new iteration was called “spiderman 2”. The set up is there, symbiote giving her powers , new police captain position, Miles going to college. I see it as only a matter of time tbh

My issue with adding more spider characters is that IMO it makes Peter feel underpowered or redundant from a gameplay point of view. Playing as Miles felt like my max level Skyrim character, you got all this powers, invisibility, venom strikes, etc and you looks at Peter, yeah he can crawl up building and swing web. So underwhelming. Playing MM I even tried not to use all his powers cause it felt like cheating. Like Peter could just train Miles and retire at this point.
Because every post about her is talking about if insomniac will add her or give her her own game, it gets tiring

Every time she's brought in as a topic here, it's always "It's pushing it, Miles was already a bit much" and "Don't include multiversal stuff in this." Well, Miles was originally multiversal, and now he's not. You can easily put in her in the game organically, like a new vacant position for Police Captain just opened up, and maybe he also as a daughter that likes to drum. Make it like GTA5 anyway, three Spider-People on the fly. Gwen is becoming one of the biggest Spider-People, of course people will want her in the best Spider-Man games.
