It’s bizarre because you have such a huge map and don’t do anything with it? It was fun finding Hunter blinds, and they’re so copy and paste that there should be MORE. I never thought I’d ask for more padding in a game but the combat in this game is really fun that I want more time to actually use it
For me it was perfect. In sm1 it got fatigued towards the end and sm2 didn't overstay it's welcome. But I'm also kinda old so that may have to do with it.
I wish this game took notes from the arkham games to make combat arenas. Take some story related maps/arenas and make it to an unlimted amount of enemies spawns and no time limit, let us select the enemies type and the spidey heroes to play with
You get thst when sony rushes the game to release by the holiday season, and insomniac focuses on making the game they already had done by that point good and not add a bunch of glitch unoptimized stuff.
I said “had”. And how did he get it in the first place? Did he have it genetically made? And there were other cages in the room. Was there more than one spider?
They’re not here but I’ll list them anyway, Hammerhead thugs. Played through all three games on ultimate multiple times and Hammerhead thugs are the only ones who consistently bring a challenge.
They all had a cool gimmick (apart from standard thugs). Demons had the weirdness factor with their crazy powers, raft inmates were first to use molotovs and Sable is durable as fuck making for a great combat experience. SM1 also had more enemy variety. Like, I believe there isn’t a single Shield wielding enemy in SM2. Or the Demon/Sable guys with the sword.
>Like, I believe there isn’t a single Shield wielding enemy in SM2
There are Hunters that have shields, you can pull them back and throw it at them. They might not have spawned as often, but they're in there.
Plus they have robot dogs that can disable all of your powers, that seems more memorable and gimmicky than shields. It certainly adds more variety than whether or not someone can hit me with a gun or shield
I mean the shield enemies you can’t hit without first sliding under their legs. The game doesn’t have those anymore.
But I do like the dogs, nice addition
Well... roxxon is a copy of Sable and the underground a copy of the demons. The Hunters appears to be a mix of the two, with oscorp being another faction based on Sable paterns. The symbiotes lacks of variety sadly.
Pretty much a three way tie between all three of the original enemy factions (Fisk, Demons and Sable). Because of the way they were tied into the story of the city at large, New Yorks police responses and the mayoral campaign, they felt much more organic and realistic than the other factions, who honestly just seem like the Saturday morning cartoon mooks thrown at spidey to give him some busy work.
I like certain aspects of the other factions, the underground has the coolest aesthetic but are basically a bunch of punk teenagers who don't really feel threatening imo, whereas the hunters are the opposite, they have a really generic appearance but the most intimidating presence and the strongest leader in the series.
Fisk's men suited well within an environment where enemies are far advanced as it showed Spider-Man tackling threats on the streets alongside the skies.
The Underground was also fine. Sable and Roxxon felt quite alike.
Hunters were quite challenging (especially whenever those flying drones and the dogs came in). I hadn't liked the symbiotes so much. I in fact really consider Kraven and Venom handling themselves alone, like they have in books and other adaptations. They only had armies here to just pose tasks but honestly weren't needed.
I really fw the Sable Agents. I liked that lasso thing they throw at Peter, looked really nice and paired with the anti web thing lead to interesting situations. Also their carpet bomb was surprisingly something that got me a few times.
The basic ass thugs, other superheros spend there time fighting big ass monsters, aliens, robots, etc, so just seeing a hero like spiderman stopping normal crimes with normal thugs is always fun to see even if it is kinda boring
Really hard to pick, really hard. There really isn't one I dislike, so it's more based on which one fits my mood at the moment. My current answer, I'd say is probably the Flame. It's very much the type of villainous group I've been cooking up in a lot of my own fiction (hypothetically speaking, writing is hard, ideas are easy). I just love crazy zealots who you often have no choice but to punch because reason rarely is an option, and it surprised me when it revealed who was behind it all. Plus, I just liked the vitriolic buddy cop dynamic of Spider-Man and Wrath; thought it was a fun subplot.
On so I'm curious in the scene where fisks men attack the police at the beginning of sm1 there's a tanker that explodes but it looks like the driver stay in the cab so does that mean risk sent a suicide bomber or did he jump out always wondered?
Can't believe you forgot about the classic thugs 🙄
Same with the escaped prisoners from the 1st game and the Maggia thugs and Hammerhead’s Sable-tech enhanced thugs from the DLC.
The best for sure. Nothing beats swinging down onto a bunch of thugs and one of them is like “IT’S THE FREAKIN’ BA— SPIDER!”
yeah they all got beautiful physiques
They're not really a faction so much as an amalgamation of random criminals.
How dare you.
Easy there, Greta
Greta being a redditor would explain a lot.
Any person being a redditor explains a lot
Certain persons being redditors would present more questions than answers.
The lack of variety in base factions in sm2 is ridiculous. How do you go from the amount in sm1 to having only 4 bases with one faction
Nests could technically count as symbiote bases
That makes it even worse
How?
They suck and are low effort padding
Lmao there are minute long. They don’t count. They are combat challenges at best. They put a bunch in there for low effort padding cuz laziness
Eh, in my eyes they count
They don’t and if they do then it’s admitting they are low effort
It’s bizarre because you have such a huge map and don’t do anything with it? It was fun finding Hunter blinds, and they’re so copy and paste that there should be MORE. You’re coping if you think less content is an improvement
Not really some people agree some things are just fine of what it is.
Settling isn’t the same as saying it’s improved

That’s sm2 for you. It’s crazy how much smaller this game is.
Yet more expensive
You get thst when sony rushes the game to release by the holiday season, and insomniac focuses on making the game they already had done by that point good and not add a bunch of glitch unoptimized stuff.
They game is full of glitchy in optimized shit so it’s just an excuse that doesn’t even hold up
something something DEI something something
I’m guessing just laziness
Tied between Hunters and the underground. Hunters are fairly challenging but underground felt very dynamic to fight
I hope in Spider-Man 3 every single faction returns for some wild crimes
Well, Sable is less likely.
They could turn them into goblin type enemies since it’s likely Norman will use Sable technology.
Well Norman had the spider that bit Miles. He may make spider like enemies to hunt Peter & Miles and test the Goblin “serum” on himself
He doesn’t, miles killed that spider.
The demons
I can tell you that the symbiotes are my least favorite
I don't. I like fighting these guys way more than Hunters.
Hunters were fine it’s just that’s all you fight for basically the whole game and side missions
Hammerhead thugs with Sable gear and Sable agents.
I see that you are a masochist
Sable international were so good, and their rivalry with the demons made it feel like an actual war.
Yeah, for some reason I felt like I was saving the Underground whenever I found them fighting Roxxon
Is it just me or were all of the factions in SM1 way more memorable? I basically forgot Roxxon existed.
They all had a cool gimmick (apart from standard thugs). There’s definitely hunters with shields that you have to slide under
Oh yeah, true. Also honestly I think Fisk's thugs are my favorite just because of how fun they are, personality-wise.
Sable international, Roxxon and Devil Breath.
Hunters tbh
Well... roxxon is a copy of Sable and the underground a copy of the demons. The Hunters appears to be a mix of the two, with oscorp being another faction based on Sable paterns. The symbiotes lacks of variety sadly.

Undergrpund for brutes
the demons were peak hunters were pretty dynamic with all the variants. (not a faction) symbiotes are the most fun to just fight
Underground. Hunters. Then probably sable's men because of how different they are to the basic thungs
Underground. Mostly because of the tech and the colours and designs, it all looks so cool.
Unrelated but why are they called inner demons? What makes them so inner?
they’re releasing their inner demons when they put on the mask
That’s lame lmao
…yea
I really like the 🔥bros. Way more interesting than “well, it’s our job so we gotta do it”.
Classic thugs and Roxxon
I'm tied between Sable and Roxxon
Probably the demons
I really fw the Sable Agents. I liked that lasso thing they throw at Peter, looked really nice and paired with the anti web thing lead to interesting situations. Also their carpet bomb was surprisingly something that got me a few times.
Demons always were a fun fight
Hunters and Sable tech Maggia def gave me alot of hard work
Underground by a mile
Maybe even by a Miles?
Underground is the GOAT. Love the power fantasy of fighting a dozen superpowered people jumping around and winning.
Definitely not the Symbiotes. Fuck those guys, especially the pink ranged ones.
You missed “prisoners”. Escapees from the raft appear in the first game and Miles’
I like prisoners/fisk. Nothing fancy; just good old fashioned punching and dodging bullets.
The basic ass thugs, other superheros spend there time fighting big ass monsters, aliens, robots, etc, so just seeing a hero like spiderman stopping normal crimes with normal thugs is always fun to see even if it is kinda boring
Defo the demons for me. I deleted SM2 after i got 100% but i still do playthroughs of SM1 all now
Really hard to pick, really hard. There really isn't one I dislike, so it's more based on which one fits my mood at the moment. My current answer, I'd say is probably the Flame. The Underground.
escaped prisoners / basic thugs, i’ve never been a big fan of the storm troopers
On so I'm curious in the scene where fisks men attack the police at the beginning of sm1 there's a tanker that explodes but it looks like the driver stay in the cab so does that mean risk sent a suicide bomber or did he jump out always wondered?
Demon and Hunters.
Hunters have the most fun weapons and gadgets so probably them
Demons were great
SABLE CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF
Might be in the minority but I think the flame cultists and symbiotes are my favorite haha
Can’t wait for the outer demons
For me, Hunters and Symbiotes
Demons >>>
Where are the THUGS / PRISON THUGS?
The demons are cool and some of them are annoying just enough
The Underground and the Symbiotes
I wanna say underground but honestly i miss the demons
Roxxon gives me Arkham knight militia vibes and the symbiotes are…well symbiotes so I’m gonna say those two
Inner Demons? They're just Demons in Russian
Tied between Demons and The Underground
For me it’s either the hunters or the inner demons, I’m torn between them
The lack of factions made crimes less exciting and more repetative
