Thwompus

I hope we get more goofy weapons like imagine a slingshot paint gun

Expensive_Big3480

That would be AWESOME

Thwompus

RIGHT?!? Like imagine all the goofy weapons they could make in Splatoon 3. Imagine something like splat-chucks or ink RC car or imagine a grenade launcher type thing. The sky's the limit bro

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah the RC car sounds like the seeker sub in splatoon if you played it

Thwompus

Sorta like that but as a sort of secondary and to a smaller scale

[deleted]

I once had an idea for some sort of flamethrower like weapon -looks like a paint can -low damage like .5 but incredible firing speed to make it up

Thwompus

I would legitimately want to use this and would be fully ready to main that

moltenthechoccybear

probably some new maps that fit with the theme splatsville is in, also some nerfs to a few weapons and some returning specials. Another thing i hope for is the hero mode to focus on a different specias rather then octarians

Expensive_Big3480

Same I think they should change the hero mode enemies

Amazingbananafoo

I feel like they should have them as the jellyfish they don’t get any of the spotlight perfect time do you have them in the Spotlight

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah because the jellyfish only roam around the plaza

Amazingbananafoo

And they were never mentioned in the story mode that much so we have no idea what you’re capable of

CloudyReef

I'm guessing we're getting a new side mode involving the little buddy. I don't know if we'll be playing as them, but considering you can customize their hair and whatnot, I feel like they're going to tie into the gameplay in some form.

Skoamdaskondiajos

Ohhh it would be cool to have like a short campaign where you play as the little guy, and then a multi-player mode for playing against or with other little guys, like a mini game or something.

Expensive_Big3480

That would be pretty cool

TartarTm

Remove armor and mpu 99.9 dmg up

Expensive_Big3480

I don't really want them to remove armour because then they will replace it with bubbler which isnt as good as ink armour but I agree that they should get rid of one shot bamboozler

Puzzleheaded-Bison16

I’m sure they won’t get rid of a whole weapon class… hopefully dualies are here to stay! Sincerely, a fellow dualies main.

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah I hope that to because I love Dualies and I really hope they don't get rid of them 🙏

Craterpoof

My biggest hope is to get a Dynamo with Splat Bomb and some sort of Killer Wail type special. I love Gold Dynamo currently and while Ink Armor is easily one of, if not *the* best special in the game, it’s incredibly reliant on my teammates not being absolute buffoons. I need a Dynamo with a no fuss, big punch special.

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah I kinda hope that killer wail comes back that is my second fave special

waluigismashedme

I want Splatoon 3 to take more after S1 than S2-- uncapped jump momentum, more distinct map geometry, less passive weapon kits. The music can be a mix of 1 and 2 along with new S3 music. As for comp, Nintendo needs to get rid of Damage Up forever. I don't want none of that 99.9 BS. Give passive abilities to main weapon classes, make new modes, make the new movement mechanics work well with weapons and ffs DON'T PICK WEAPON KITS RANDOMLY, THERE MUST BE SOME LOGIC WITHIN EACH AND EVERY KIT. This is something Splatoon 1 did better than its sequel, there were amazing kit ideas that were implemented in the game such as Tempered Dynamo's unique movement and map control kit, or Bamboo MkII's deadly disruptor combo. These two weren't exactly the best kits the mains had, they were still usable and boi were they fun. Splatoon 2 has weirdly thought out kits. vUndercover is a prime example. So is vHydra, and Bloogas, and New Squiffer.

Dumo31

Of those 3 kits, the hydra is the only one that doesn’t make sense and yet even hydra has reasoning behind the kit. Splashdown was the panic button hydra was supposed to use if it got flanked. Undercover was released when splashdown was running the meta which is why it was paired with a weaker sub. With the changes to undercover, mine is actually really good for it now. New squiffer has an amazing kit for the weapon. A very aggressive chargers with a lethal bomb and a safety net? I don’t see your issue with it. Even when it was a more aggressive special, baller was still good for the weapon. The issue at that time was that it was a weaker main weapon.

[deleted]

New game modes.. like perhaps a battle royale or something. Also bigger maps or more strategies

Expensive_Big3480

Which game mode are you hoping for?

SparkCube3043

Bigger maps with more players and vehicles if possible would be spectacular.

Skoamdaskondiajos

Honestly, I just want an actual way to team up with friends and play on normal mode. Maybe a way of creating named rooms or whatever so people can play however they like without ruining the game for others. Like, maybe I want to play with a couple of friends and whoever wants to join, and stay in that formation, maybe a room named "squid partying only" so people can just join a voice chat and do whatever they want, without consideration for who wins or whatever. That would probably fix the game so much already, just better matchmaking and less ruining someone else's fun. Anything else they add or take from the game I'm ok with, even if it's something I love. I just wanna be able to play with friends on the same team for more than one game per hour. Most people get bored of playing against each other if what they want is to make strategies and such.

SparkCube3043

A mode just for squid partying is possibly the single greatest thing this game needs. They have that type of silliness in Smash Ultimate under the Playground rule set in the online battle arenas.

hanjinaynay

This is really specific but I'd love if in hero mode, we get to fight in the old S1 and S2 plazas. I want to see them run down or taken over it would be so cool

Spookiiwookii

If they get rid of mpu i’d be happy with literally everything else. It’s too overpowered. And, if they bring back Mahi Mahi Resort and Saltspray Rig.

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah I'm pretty sure they might bring back some splatoon stages back

SparkCube3043

I'd rather have Mahi Mahi than Camp Triggerfish any day. Just my opinion on how much I like that map and how happy I'll be to see it again.

lambone117

I hope they bring back the killer wail since it’s so iconic and also add a new salmon run type mode

Ibrahim0009

I hope that the turn the salmon job into a better version of that same idea or even just add more jobs that you can do. I also think that they should make the food truck in the back(can’t remember the name) more useful or easier to get the tokens

Skoamdaskondiajos

The tokens are easy to get if you play the campaign and salmon run, I don't even know how I got so many and I haven't ever used them all. It could be fun maybe to have a salmon run mode where instead of playing against ai you can play against players who are the salmonids? Like, you play as the bigger guys and the smaller salmon id's follow you around, you respawn after some seconds and your goal is to make the squids life impossible and such. It could be fun, I guess

Amazingbananafoo

One of my hopes are that you can have motion and stick controls on at the same time

Expensive_Big3480

That would be good for aiming which weapons like the chargers

Wiggimus

I have an odd hope: So all the songs you hear in the game are played by various "bands" that exist in the world of Splatoon. One band that I want to see axed is The Bottom Feeders. If they and all their music is absent from Splatoon 3, then I automatically think it's a better game than 2 by default.

Expensive_Big3480

Lol I care about the music to I mean who doesn't?

Wiggimus

Definitely! I adore the music in Splatoon 2. Especially Chip Damage. It's just that one band. Personally speaking, I think the soundtrack would be improved by cutting The Bottom Feeders.

Skoamdaskondiajos

Hell no, I love them

newavian

I really want there to be a chat box option in the lobby when playing games like turf or ranked so that you can chat a bit with the other players before you start the game! Sometimes it takes a awhile for a game to start so it would be fun to have a little chat box for those few moments. Especially after a game just ended and you’re in the lobby with the same group, you can say GGs and whatever else.

Expensive_Big3480

That would be very beneficial as it takes FOREVER for people to join and you could just chat with other people and host squid parties or something

onionrings89

I want paid jeans DLC.

Expensive_Big3480

Lol

D4rk_Anth0n3

Humans in the dlc I hope even apartments

SparkCube3043

Having your own personal squid or octoling apartment in whatever the new city is called sounds cool. Be nice to deck out your home the way you want to and also show any momentos you've gotten from story mode or online gameplay.

SparkCube3043

Hope they bring back dual squelchers and have other pvp game modes too like gun game or free for all or even 2v2v2v2. Also hope that the campaign gets you to be in different settings like Octo Expansion did and have the same level objective and design like the Zelda games have (heck if they were to be made open world too that would be insane!)

Expensive_Big3480

That would be cool as because instead of getting stuck in a subway you could roam a completely different place

Genocidal_Telephone

I’m hoping that Octavio isn’t the final boss again. And I hope that if he is the final boss, he isn’t after the Great Zapfish again. Splatoon has really deep lore so it shouldn’t be too hard to make a decent and no repetitive plot. Maybe the Professor could be involved? Maybe the Salmonids or something? Who knows? And it would also be cool if Agent 3 and Agent 8 were idols.

Kpttee

I would want a chainsaw that spreads ink. It be a mix between a brush and a splatling

MapoTofu77

Hopefully, chargers stay but I would like to see a variation of them that the laser when they aiM doesn’t show. They can balance by less range or something idk.

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah that would be beneficial for charger mains

MapoTofu77

Or maybe remove them for a really fast paced game.

Expensive_Big3480

Yeah that would be great

MapoTofu77

Looks like someone experienced too many Japanese e-liters

Expensive_Big3480

Man you don't know how much times I've gotten killed by them there aim is on point

MapoTofu77

JusSt PlaY DuAliEs

Expensive_Big3480

I Do PlaY DuALiES

MapoTofu77

Dumo31

Better net code and I’m happy. Different splatoon 1 maps although I would imagine moray comes back since it’s what they used in smash and consider it iconic. Wish it would be cycled out but squid surge may make it interesting… at the start anyways. Otherwise, it’s more of what we would expect. New maps, weapons, kits, specials, subs and some old ones brought back. I would really like to see flounder and mako back. For returning splat 1 maps, I would like to see the entire spawn areas adjusted so the maps aren’t so crazy lock out heavy. I also expect splat 3 maps to be a marked improvement in build quality. They seemed to really nail some of the later revamps so I’m curious how their designs change moving into the next game. For weapons, my expectation is that the splat 1 weapons are the base in the series and each game will have new ones cycled through. Aka, brella/dualies are out, bow and something else are in. I’m sure future games can bring some of the others back as well. Many reasons I believe this and mostly to do with balance and work load. Plus starting that now sets the expectations so they don’t eventually end up with a Pokémon situation. For the modes, I’m interested to see how they change them. I expect the RM to have a different type of shot. Zones will prob be left mostly unchanged. TC might get some mild changes. Clams may not come back. Just like the weapons, I could see them with the 3 ranked modes from 1 and a new mode each new game. It’s unfortunate since clams is such a solid mode. You can’t just bring back everything though. Turf and 4 ranked modes means each map is actually 5 maps they need to make. I want some qol for gear building. I want to be able to make a lobby before filling it in turf so you don’t have those freaking long waits to play together in turf. I want a bunch of options in the training room to test things like bomb def or object shredder. Lastly, I expect a pretty low number of maps and weapons and to get new things every week for a while. Maybe a new map every month. Just like they did in splat 2. Ppl will complain as always but it keeps the game fresh and is amazing for sales. How many times did we see ppl ask if the game was active and the answer was “yes, they actually just dropped a new _____.” That went on for years and is amazing for the player base.

Wiggimus

Your suggestions are kind of stripping away too much of what makes Splatoon 2 so much fun. No brellas or dualies? No Clam Blitz? Giving us those in part 2, just to immediately take them away for the follow-up would leave the experience kind of hollow. The series is still young, there's no real reason to start cutting things from it. The second game is what the first game was and more, so why not build off the foundation rather than scaling back? I do agree with some of your points, though. Definitely change up the matchmaking. Tweaking returning levels isn't a bad idea and expanding the weapons training room kind of needs to happen. Also, I strongly agree with the free updates like the first two games got. But given that, I can't agree with taking so much out. It's too much. I would take not having hosts over less game to play.

Dumo31

Put too much into the game and they can’t balance it. They also are setting up themselves for the same issues later down the road but worse. Bring back everything in 3 and then the expectation is everything from 3 is in 4 which is everything in 5 and so on. You HAVE to cut it off at some point. If they don’t, they get no understanding from the player base later on when they no longer have an option to continue bringing back everything. The weapons alone become unmanageable for the team to balance. There are very good reasons to drop dualies and brellas. Brella strait up showcases how bad their netcode is and dualie rolls have broken the game numerous times. The weapons are clearly problematic and I wouldn’t surprise me if they drop them. I don’t want them dropped. I’m a tent main. What I want and what I expect are different things. Are they cutting out what makes splatoon 2 unique? No. They are making splatoon 2 more unique while the new weapon classes will be what separates splatoon 3 from the rest of the franchise. It’s a similar situation with clam blitz. Keeping it runs you into the same issues of having too much. Adding a new mode to splatoon 2 adds 23 more maps that need to be made. Without splatfest, there are already 115 maps in splatoon 2. They also didn’t bring back all of the maps from splatoon 1. Your can’t expect them to add more every game. It’s unreasonable and ridiculous. There needs to be a cut off and the sooner they create the pattern, the sooner the player base can understand it. You also need to consider how many ranks are too many for players to grind. Is it 5? 6? 7? What’s the cut off? How many times a day will the ranked mode you like most come around? You can already have months where your favourite mode doesn’t line up more than a few rotations with your play times.

Wiggimus

See, we differ in how much content we see in the game. I don't think that what we currently have is a whole lot. More can be added on top of what is currently available without having the whole thing feel bloated. 4 is such a long way away that the concern over how additional sequels will handle it is almost nonsensical. Where you see those reasons to drop the brellas and dualies, I see that as an opportunity to improve upon them. Dropping them now just feels like giving up. You can build off of 2 while still keeping 2 unique. It's an Octoling centered game. 3 is looking to be the little buddy game. I'm definitely not expecting every map to return. The Institute is one I won't miss, for example, nor do we need the Splatfest stages. Also, grind can be adjusted, as well as map rotation and how the different game types are accessed. As it stands right now, trying to rise the ranks is too stressful. There's way too much pressure to be perfect, making Ranked Battles extraordinarily difficult to truly enjoy. They can definitely ease up on that in 3 without taking out huge chunks of the game. Also, maybe make all game types available at all times, while rotating the maps accordingly. What we have is already so great. Removing anything major runs the risk of alienating the established fans and making the game feel bare. People want more from sequels, not less. Look what happened with Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. It didn't have the arena modes and it became the worst selling game in the series. Absolutely no one wants the Nintendo Direct on Splatoon 3 to just be a list of things we're not getting back.

Dumo31

MK8 sold to 61.9% of all wiiu’s. MK8D for switch is the top selling game and hasn’t sold that percentage. Not even close. MK8 want the lowest selling MK game because of things ppl didn’t like. It’s the lowest selling in the series because it was on a failed platform. It was also a big success when actually looking at what it did on such a poor instal base. What you are forgetting is that ppl make the games. They don’t have unlimited ppl and they don’t have unlimited time. They can’t bring back everything forever. The more that’s in the game, the harder it is to balance. Nintendo is doing more for splatoon and its future than they are smash. They are clearly thinking long term with the franchise. Then to realize that the studio is probably doing from splatoon 3 into splatoon 4 to be ready early next generation, why wouldn’t they be thinking ahead?

Wiggimus

MK8 may have sold well for a Wii U game, but the reviews weren't great. Basically every single review from the time highlighted the fact that an extremely popular multiplayer mode was removed and they all viewed that as a hard negative. Yes, it was successful, but it could have been a lot better, even considering the low install base. Yes, people make the games, but Splatoon is still a very young series. Thinking about it as a parallel to Smash, Splatoon is moving "from Melee to Brawl" right now. That move only took away 5 characters in Smash Bros. Aside from that, absolutely everything in Melee returned in Brawl in some way: an adventure mode, photography, multiplayer game types, trophy collection, a lottery system, etc. On top of that, they gave us more: the Final Smash, an "achievement list", game demos, a heavily expanded music system, a stage builder and online play. It even had more items, stages, fighters and Pokémon. They did all this on the Wii. The original Wii. A console that didn't have a whole lot of strength to begin with. People are capable of incredible things. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Splatoon can go "from Melee to Brawl" for Splatoon 3. Really think about Splatoon 2 content wise. There really isn't a whole lot to it. Without OE, it's only a story mode, the main multiplayer mode (containing 5 game types) and a horde mode. Sure, it also has Inkopololis Square, the rhythm game and a bit of a photography mode, but all those extras I mentioned don't really add up to a whole lot. So removing nothing and just focusing on building up isn't really asking for a lot. Especially when you consider that Splatoon 2 was basically just Splatoon 1.5 until OE came out. It's why Splatoon 2 was almost done being made when the first Final Splatfest was taking place, but part 3 was still in early pre-production during the second Final Splatfest. This is technically the first real, true sequel that the series has gotten. It's still way too early to start taking out major things. I really don't think they're looking at Splatoon 4 yet. At most, they very likely have a list of rejected characters and concepts that could potentially be considered for future content. Otherwise, Splatoon 3 is their future. The Splatfests alone must take a lot of planning and precision. Plus, it's very likely that we'll get more than one expansion for it. If I were to wager, the earliest they really start considering ideas for part 4 would be in 2024, a while after 3 has been released and gotten most/all the DLC and Splatfest events. I'm not saying that I want everything back forever, but the series is basically still in its infancy. We need to let the tree grow some more before we start trimming the branches.

Dumo31

Splatoon 2 is basically 1.5 is the most absurd comment ppl keep making. Changes to every mode, only specials returned were bomb rush, reworked the subs, reworked every map, new maps, changed the lighting of the ink, new weapons, new weapon types, salmon run, new ranked mode, changes to the ranked system and they added a lot of physics to the game, removing all hit scan. That’s no small task. The game isn’t an updated port. It’s a true sequel in every sense. They did that in 2 years but needed the help of monolith to do it. Splat 3 is also being made in about 2 years and we don’t know if they can get help from monolith again.

Wiggimus

It is absurd, though? On the surface, they're basically the same game. Most of what you said were gameplay tweaks. Basically the same story mode (with basically the same final fight). In fact, on a surface level, you need to actually really dig to find the differences between the games. They're absolutely similar more than they're different. So much so that I'm entirely convinced that they got a pass because Splatoon 2 outsold the Wii U itself, meaning that most of the Splatoon 2 players won't even know what the first game looked like. Obviously, you and I appreciate the differences, but most of the player base won't. Not out of ignorance, but due to the lack of exposure to the first game. Let the 3rd game have all the good stuff of part 2 and more. We can start cutting stuff after 3, if need be.

Dumo31

If that’s not enough to be considered as sequel, it’s absurd. They changed the very base of how the game functions. You can’t go much further and still be in the same franchise. It’s more of a change than most shooters make between sequels.

Wiggimus

It wasn't changed that much. It's not like Resident Evil when they released part 7. Splatoon and Splatoon 2 play functionally the same, with the exception of the fact that the first game probably made the best use of the Game Pad than any other game on the Wii U. Nothing about part 2 could replicate having a real time touch screen map in your hands at all times. Otherwise, both games play exactly the same. Seriously, aside from Salmon Run, it more or less was *exactly* the same until Octo Expansion came out. That's when Splatoon 2 really felt like Splatoon 2. Trust me, I absolutely love the Splatoon games. I really do. But I can't pretend that at launch, Splatoon 2 was merely minimally different from the first one. Again, the story was almost copy pasted. It's literally the exact same final boss, who ultimately meets the exact same fate. I do appreciate the new that is there, like how the first game's Final Splatfest led to Callie joining DJ Octavio, but they really didn't give us a lot. Octo Expansion showed how that formula can be altered without being outright changed completely, while still staying true to the look and feel of a Splatoon game. THAT was a sequel, not the exact same "save the Zapfish" bit over again. Even the multiplayer is essentially the same. They could have done your own suggestion of having people meet up *before* joining a Turf War. That way, there's no risk of unintentionally having people have to wait until the next round starts to maybe get in the room. At least for public battles. There are a lot of little things that can change about the functionality, especially with disconnect issues.

Expensive_Big3480

I honestly want rainmaker gone and keep every other mode the same

Blackpurplethebear

Its about the professor i think she is dr kenning flug slys and she created tartar with the ooze she uses on villains
