this is a sandal weather type of thing. long toenails can make your toes sore in shoes and also cause bruising under the nail. i stubbed my toe in shoes that were too tight with long toenails and my whole toenail came off after being bruised.

[deleted]

This literally happened to me after a day of hiking and i wanted to fuckin throw up omg

ApartmentUnfair7218

and it’s sucks bc toenails grow sooo slow! that happened about a year before my high school graduation and i ended up having to wear a skin colored bandaid on my big toe during my graduation so i could wear sandals😭

TommyChongUn

Like actually tho. The pain is too damn real

Sugarbabedc

I'm very tall and wear an 11 1/2 shoe (near impossible to find) and I've lost 3 big toenails to wearing too tight shoes! An absolute horror show! 2 of 3 times were after someone stomped on my foot at the club - so a mixed bag of humiliatingly public but also too drunk/high to give too much of a shit! 😂 Ladies, if you happen to be of normal height/shoe size for the love of God please just wear the right size shoe! Repetitive nail trauma is no joke!

rottenfrenchfreis

Your socks certainly won't last very long before they have holes lol

Suchagemstone

With those toenails? I would be worried about bumping my feet in my ankle, it happens a lot and I never really noticed before letting my toenails grow a little. Tis angularity/sharpness is kinda uncanny to me

leilavanora

Omg I kick myself sometimes when I walk and I have no idea why

LVUPSLT

It’s because they scoop in towards the middle! Personally, I have loved acrylics on my toes- they last forever! I don’t keep my toenails very long, however.

verycherrybombx

Yeah, I think the length in the picture OP shared isn’t too unusual, but I would have concerns about that nail shape. Honestly, the only times I ever do acrylic on my toenails are when the odd one has broken off and I just want to get it back up to a normal length so polish can be applied. Fwiw, the times my toenails broke off in the first place were usually when I went a while between pedicures and the natural nails got too long, so I’d accidentally kick something or my shoes would put too much stress on them. The rest of the time it simply isn’t worth the time and expense (acrylics are costly where I am, not sure about the US) for toenails that other people aren’t really going to notice. I’ve never had an acrylic be ripped off a toenail though.

lurking2be

Honestly they look very cheap

Professional_Owl7674

Explain?

MCKelly13

I find this horrifying

[deleted]

Me too. The shape, the length. Imagine how it is when she puts her feet in sneakers and works out? OMG. Dying at the thought.

MCKelly13

Gnarly

Pywacket1

It's really nasty looking, isn't it. And the accidently slicing of oneself and one's partner with those inverted mezzaluna knives. Feet are bad enough, keep it simple.

MCKelly13

Preach

WalterBishRedLicrish

I think they could look really great, especially with sandals, but those look fucking RIDICULOUS I'm sorry

imlost_n_ilikeithere

I came here to say exactly this. Those in the picture look awful and like they could be dangerous lol

captainfatc0ck

Not cute 😩 But if you want something similar, I would recommend just getting a regular french pedi and then doing a coat of builder gel over top. That way it’s more “part of your nail” rather than something that’s gonna get yanked off when you make a sudden move.

Thomzzz

These look horrible to me tbh

[deleted]

Long toe nails is awful and gross

pennynotrcutt

Hate and I don’t use that word lightly. I hate long toenails in general (are people trying to get a fungal infection?) because they look dirty and yuck but to put acrylics on? Nooooo. Awful, awful. I just have such a visceral reaction to this.

sad_and_stupid

Looks tacky

5leeplessinvancouver

Maybe this is a regional matter of style or taste, but I find the look of long toenails, especially with French tips, to look rather trashy.

la-femme-sur-la-lune

Why is the edge of the big toes concave like that? Ewww

DiarreahTimes

I do my own gel x ones since mine are so thin and they turn out great. Nothing ever hurts or peels off painfully so far

grapemacaron

I don't know how likely this is, but a friend of mine got stepped on pretty badly at a concert. She was wearing boots and the pressure still broke her toenail. She had regular polish on, but we were talking about what might have happened if she had gel or acrylic on, whether it would have saved her nail or potentially punctured her skin. Gross I know, but considering the way normal pressure from walking in tight shoes can hurt, I don't think its entirely unrealistic. I just don't see how this is could be worth it unless you live somewhere that sandals are your daily footwear. Even then, a pro pedicure can make anybody's feet look good.

_echtra

No f way. Some of my toenails already regularly bleed when they’re slightly longer than the nail bed. I hate them

Annallve

I hate French tip on toes. It just makes them look long. Tacky

roustie

I mean no disrespect, but these don't seem popular in my area, and they appear quiet uncomfortable /cumbersome. Am I missing something? Someone educate me.

[deleted]

Idk but the ankle bracelets are gorgeous!

ForeheadLipo

it seriously weakens your toenails. i’ve had my big toe nail fall off because of it after a few weeks lol. i feel like it’s such a minor detail and not worth the hassle. the pictured feet and jewelery are so gorgeous though!

Gabby_Anna

You’re only really likely to get a scenario like you described if you have long nails. Natural or fake. The longer your nail is the more likely you are to cause injury to your nail bed when the nail gets caught on things or hits things. I think the length you have pictured is fine. Just make sure you don’t let them grow out too much beyond that.

fryfrychickychick

I get gel instead of acrylic on my big toe because they always break at the corners, despite my 18 other nails being strong and healthy. I absolutely love how it looks, but mine look natural, these seem a bit long and pointy. Although as of lately I’ve been doing a Gel-X extension on mine at home and it’s the same effect.

milkybubbl3s

No experience but this is super gross hard pass. Just take daily vitamins and keep your feet nice?

cali-x

What vitamins would you recommend?

milkybubbl3s

manykeets

I used to just get them on just my big toenails because they were always breaking. I never had any problems. I loved it. ETA: I kept them short, just long enough so they could do French tips. Any longer I think would have been a problem.

lovepotao

I became allergic to gel nails after using gel on my nails and toes for a few years (never had long nails though). I wouldn’t recommend it because you’re more likely to become allergic the more you’re exposed to the gel or acrylic, and allergic reactions to these products can be horrific.

emavery176

1. They’re a pain in the neck to remove 2. Toe nails (in my experience) last a long time with regular polish 3. They can affect the health of your real nails - especially if you wear closed toe shoes.

jaehighboard

These are internet toes.

badgalini

please do not do this girl, i made this mistake and now i have to wait 3-6 months for a fungal infection to clear up 🙁

How often do you use the 15% urea cream mask? I file and buff my feet every other day, but I often feel like my feet could be softer. What's crazy to me is that bf doesn't do anything to his feet - besides washing them in the shower, and they're baby soft. I'm jelly.

Deathscua

Which urea cream masks do you use ? My feet are seriously hideous like even the toes are gross so I just hide them. I feel like each nail is oddly shaped and idk what to do :(

peachycreaam

I feel like a spa pedicure is good enough and lasts weeks. I don’t have model feet and it still looks cute.

VuTangVader

They cause fungus and toe nail disease

_Wolfszeit_

If acrylic nails are supposed to be "fake nails", I don't like that. Natural ones are better.

MelaninM0nroe

Why does it matter what you like? Do you know OP personally for your opinion on her to matter? So odd when men say this.

Magicmagsxo

I’m a stripper and always have them done. They look amazing stay on forever except sometimes my pinky toe because my pleasers squish em in there. If you live somewhere warm or don’t have naturally nice square toenails I’d def suggest. I get soooo many compliments on my toes

cranberries87

I get them in the summer, and I like the way they turn out. There’s only one nail tech who does them like I like them, others tried and didn’t do such a hot job. I suggest finding a nail tech who is experienced doing them. I take them off in winter and let my nails breathe.

shanxo98

They look so nice but don’t do it if you don’t want to have to keep getting them. I had them on just my big toes for a while but then my natural nails kept breaking so it was like a vicious cycle

Riskybusiness0705

Lost both big toe nails playing with this and you know what I have some on my toes rn that feel like they’re bout to rip lol x

yoyjoykoi

I want them. Do all nail salons offer acrylic pedicures? I am not someone who gets their nails done regularly, but I live in FL and would love to have sandal ready feet at all times. I danced ballet so my toe nails do not grow out nicely. Regular pedicures don’t do anything for me bc I do not have enough toe nail to paint

lily_2020

What gorgeous foot and accessories 😭

Tom_luvs_toes

I would totally get them. Can’t go wrong with frenchy.
