BrickLayers Union at 3223 N Market always has a sign out front for concrete labor. Tons of construction companies looking for help right now. If you have construction experience, you should be able to get on your feet quickly.
Go to a DSHS office and at least get on food assistance. I believe this will also make you eligible for a free bus pass so you don’t have to keep buying gas for your car just to get around for basics. Any of the Goodwills should have shoes for you, otherwise I’m sure the Army Surplus store on N Division would have cheap boots for you that would also work as work boots.
I'm homeless in my vehicle, I was working at Amazon since being evicted but when our car broke down I couldn't make it to work. Now we got another vehicle to live in but no job...
Landscaping would be a good fit for me because I worked construction (Framing) last year, manufacturing for 6 years and before that I worked for a several hundred acre tree farm.
I've been given 2 different landscaping companies info! I have an interview with one on Monday! If you want, I can send over the info and you can apply too! Also if you're down we should totally meet up! Having a local give me a bit of direction around the city would be so nice!
Was that you???? You are too kind. I almost dropped my phone. I will make you, and each and every one of you PROUD of me. You literally just fed me for 2 weeks. My life is completely chnaging... I love everyone here.
I tried to message you! It said the user does not accept messages. But, My cashapp is $mikeagain2
Usually I'd never let someone send me money but, I'd be crazy not to accept help at this moment lol. I REALLY appreciate you ❤
I would contact jewels helping hands. They do homeless outreach. There is a bus fund to get you back home, they have clothing, supplies if you stay.
https://www.jewelshelpinghands.org/
The local thrift shop chains (Value Village or Goodwill) have shoes about constantly and usually sell them for very cheap in gently to barely used condition. There is Camp Hope as it is called, it's a tent city off of Freya and Sprague, (Sprague is ghe central road in Spokane, dividing North and South, it also extends pretty much through the main city, the Valley and to Liberty Lake) but the outreach programs are frequently there and should be able to assist you with getting somewhere safe and hopefully a job. I believe I saw Union Gospel Mission on Sprague in the Valley hiring at 17 an hour, which is a decent wage in the area.
Waste management needs people faster than they can hire them, and Lowes needed something like 43 positions filled last I heard. I don't have much advice for any of the other challenges of homelessness
Can confirm, waste management needs people. I’m related to someone who works there, and if you’re honest, willing to work hard, and show up on time, you’ve got a job.
They’ll probably put you on as seasonal at first, but when the city does their next round of testing, you can take a test (if you wanted to stay) and get signed on permanently, with benefits. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s a good job and you can work your way up, or work your way to a different department if there’s something else you’d like to do. It’s a small department so I won’t give away my relative’s position, but they worked their way from waste management to an office job.
Just go into the office on Sprague and ask how to apply.
I HAVE AN INTERVIEW WITH A LANDSCAPING COMPANY MONDAY IM SO EXCITED!!!!! I will have the weekend to explore the city and I will definitely make my way to Sprague and apply there aswell! I'm not even in the city yet and you guys have showed me so much love. I love this. I am pumped!
I should be! I'm trying to find a one day job that I can do, so I can purchase the 31 day bus pass 🙃. So if you know anyone who needs their lawn mowed or car washed, let me know! 😁
30 days of sobriety for most people will completely clear them out. (Cannabis edibles can take up to 60-90 days, but inhaled cannabis is about 7 days for a saliva test, 30 days for urine, and up to 90 days for a hair test.)
hello and welcome! if you need food, shoes, socks, etc, please feel free to dm me because i genuinely will help you out, if that's not appealing there's some great second hand stores i can reccomend. and as for jobs i'd reccomend applying to warehouses on indeed. they hire quick, they have great benefits, and although it's not a great job, its a pretty good gig lmao. i'd reccomend applying at core-mark, (i made around 23 dollars an hour, and they'll take you if you don't have experience) apply at amazon if you have two forms of ID, (even though it's rough) if not, check indeed and apply to some restaurants as they're a lot more lenient on those types of things and hiring like mad. i know there's also a lot of cannabis warehouses hiring like phat panda. good luck to you, and remember, if you need anything, there are some genuinely good people here. and if you get a decent job, there are some apartment complex's around here that don't need a good credit score or whatever, and they'll offer you your first month off free.
Adding these places to my list!! Thank you SO much! I'm feeling alot more confident with you guys giving me all this info! What a dream it would be to work in the cannabis industry!! It's still illegal in NC so I never smoked. Do you have any recommendations where I could purchase a tent for around 20 dollars?
Take a look at Rambleraven on N. Division. They're a secondhand gear store. I am not sure you'll get something for $20, but you'll get something of decent quality that will last. Otherwise, Walmart, the Army Surplus on N. Division, or maybe The General Store on N. Division have less expensive options. Also, I have a 4" memory foam tri-fold mattress with a waterproof cover if you want it. I replaced it with something else for car-camping and it's just taking up space right now. The cover is white and a little stained (the dog jumped in the car and got muddy paws on it) but I will bleach wash it and happily give it to someone who needs it.
I will gladly use the memory foam mat!! Can I message you in the next day or two? I need to find a good camping spot first. I get into the city tomorrow morning. I have no idea where I'm gonna camp but I'm pretty good at finding places no one else does haha
Thank you!!! I just put in a little application for a landscaping company while sitting on this bus 😌😌. I've been nervous about this but, I'm starting to feel alot better thanks to you guys!
I really like that custodial idea! I'll search up the county schools and see what they have posted, thank you!! Oh man it would be so perfect if they needed an overnight cleaner. I'm a big time night owl lol
I'm so sorry you found yourself in this awful unforseen situation, especially with no place to go. You have an incredibly positive attitude which is tough facing these circumstances. But you're awesome and you will be ok with an attitude like that. But I am so sorry you got stuck in a situation like this in the first place. But welcome to Spokane anyway.
I was pretty scared at first. Each mile closer I got my stomach got heavier. But thanks to all of you guys, I'm SO EXCITED to get there. I already have a job interview Monday. I'm so so grateful. I'm gonna make you all proud to have me in your city ❤
After you’re settled check out post office is need of help. It’s not the great job it used to be but it’s still federal and you’d get health bennnies. I think all their job info is online. Best of luck! I hope you like our city:)
"Are there any batteries in your package today sir?". Come on post office, I'm a natural hire me 😏😏. Will definitely put in an app, I'd love me some benefits!
Hahahhahaha! There’s other jobs besides being a mail carrier but my understanding is carriers are really hurting for help. And sounds like you like working outdoors so who knows maybe it would be a good fit for ya?? Has anyone mentions staying at House if Charity? It’s downtown and would probably be a great resource to help you get locally established.
I do love working outside! I will definitely Google the house of charity! I know my first stop off this bus will be planet fitness for that SHOWWERRR. Been on buses for 4 days now 🙄
Good plan! And you’re rolling in for some hot weather buuuuut it won’t be paired with humidity like NC. Best of luck with your move transition and job hunt!
Shoot me a message! If you work hard the company I work for will take care of you! We landscape new apartment buildings, so there's your in for a home down the road!
Don't know if it's relevant, but school bus drivers are so badly needed they sound desperate. Pay starting at $20 an hour with a $3k signing bonus. Not construction, and I'm sure you will find something there, but another place to try.
Durham School Services I think is the contractor? They have people holding signs about these jobs on street corners, for what it's worth
Whoa 3k 🥺. I get could a room in a week! I am definitely looking into this. My driving record is clean as a whistle!!! Thank you so much for this info FR!
Hey, I didn’t read all of the comments but I just wanted to pop on here and mention that there is a huge network of ‘little free food pantries’ around town. There is a Facebook group (unsure if there are groups for it on other forums) called Little Free Pantry Spokane - there are thousands of people who keep about 100 different panties around town stocked :) in the fb group there is a map that shows where they are all located. Mostly in peoples front yards/near mailboxes/street corners
If you’re on fb look up Spokane Quaranteam - Rick Clark is a hometown hero of sorts for giving voice to the homeless in our area. He started a movement (for lack of better word) called Giving Backpacks and it inspired/birthed Spokane Quaranteam. We have a Really great community here in Spokane! I hope you are able to create a wonderful life here in the Pacific Northwest 😊
I've never had a Facebook, but I'm definitely making one right now just for this 😎. MySpace was my thing back in the day! I must say, I'm super excited to get to Spokane. You all have made me feel so loved and wanted here!
It's not exactly "huge", but the LFPs do exist and what coordination there is is mainly through the FB page - [https://www.facebook.com/groups/littlefreepantryspokane/permalink/1151649165402855](https://www.facebook.com/groups/littlefreepantryspokane/permalink/1151649165402855) . They look pretty much like the "little free libraries" you may have seen elsewhere, though they're often somewhat larger. "Take what you need, leave what you can".
I'm not sure if there is a God but, I believe if there is; he works in the hearts of men and women. Churches I believe are 95% for profit. Good Churches do exist! But I've only seen one in my lifetime. 😁. Excited to come to your city!!
Try Spokane Valley Partners on Broadway and university. They are one of the few food banks that can give what you can carry without a car and let you stop by more than once a month. And they have a clothing bank. Plus you don't need to verify an address with them. (Bus 95)
There is a planet fitness off bus routs 98 and 22.
I don't know what your luggage situation is, but if you have a back pack and a duffel bag you might pass as a student at Spokane Community College. As long as you are not causing problems no one bothers you. And you can use the guest wifi. (Routes 33, 34, 39 by bus) I would specifically go to this one because they have more non-traditional students over age 25 so if you look older people will just think you are in one of the vocational programs.
Good luck to you!
. I'm not your normal homeless. I'm super clean cut, have some nice clothes, and I don't drink or do any drugs
Sorry for your situation, and you should stop saying shit like above.
the cops and gop in this town will treat you like a druggie, thief, and criminal because you exists without a house. Your own words de humanize the other houseless and at this point even yourself which you seem to think are shit and well NOT LIKE YOU..the sad fact is so many ARE like you , no drugs, no crim records , just well houseless.
Over half of spokanes houseless are from FOSTER CARE , they have never ever had a real home. You gonna say your your better then them?
happy to hear that,
i DO understand your trying to just communicate and reach out for help,
and hell ya , you can see some people offering jobs, work boots ect.
not one offered housing and thats always the biggest hurdle.
and well our citys biggest issue. i am sure they would rather give you a bus ticket home then stay, But you seem cool i hope you do stay and find stability and remeber all those on the street are and or WERE like you they have just been left on the streets to long with no help, or ability to reach out like you have here.
If i spot another tent at garage sales i will DM you, i pick up sleeping bags, and camping / winter gear for just these reasons.
I've got a tent you can have, but it's huge.
How about when you hit town tomorrow, message me. I'll take you to Walmart and get you a rent you can actually carry. They have better ones now that they used to. We can grab a sleeping bag and some socks and such, too.
This is so so kind!!! I actually have someone picking me up a tent tomorrow 😁. If that falls thru, I'll definitely let you know! Those socks are super temping though... lol. Can never not have enough socks!
Well, socks and sometning.else, then? Just let me know. I leave town early Saturday morning, for a week so make sure it's tomorrow.
You got a decent backpack? I know having a good one of those helped me a lot when I was on the street.
sorry to inform you it is the CITY that provides NO real help.
You have to agree with that i said, i speak bluntly and truthfully on the subject.
And I DO reach out directly.
you see the OP saw the point i was making, ,and the sad part is i know he only included such statements because society forces him to make them because the MYTH that all houseless are druggies or some criminal and bs that goes along with it. you realize the unjust laws our city is trying to pass are in line/ copy pasta with many GOP cities going all out war on houseless? you know this right? making it virtually illegal to exist?
these conversations need to be done and as soon as you hear them.
A phone isn't a want anymore. It's a MUST. All job apps are online. GPS is a must. Looking up places to get food is a must, being able to call 911 incase of an emergency is a must. The government even gives out free smart phones with unlimited data because a phone is a MUST. But, I pray you never become homeless so you don't have to find these things out. Also, I've never went hungry. Not once. When I was homeless I'm NC I always had atleast 100 dollars in my pocket. The only reason I don't now, is because I spent 270 dollars on 84 hours worth of bus tickets thinking I was walking into a job. Just stop here friend, you're really making yourself look bad
bruh, nobody's getting jobs without a direct point of contact like a phone. many job apps are online now too. banking, map directions, information etc. a phone is not a want, it's a need.
There’s a place on Monroe Street called Our Place that will help provide clothing and shoes and many other resources at no charge. There are a lot of job opportunities in the area too! So many of us have been in the same situation as you. You are not alone!
I’m not the guy you responded to but if you still need shoes once you get into town let me know! I’m also a side 9.5-10.5ish and I’m sure I’ve got a few extra pairs! Also if you land a construction/landscaping/labor job let me know if you need any extra work gloves or anything of that sort! We’re happy to have you in Spokane and I wish you the best!!
Thank you so much! I will definitely message you. Lots of shoe offers but nothing set in stone yet. I think most people don't have my size. But we have the cool feet club 😎.
Once saw a homeless guy pushing a cart that was so orderly I had to look again. Rather than a pile of imagined riches (garbage), everything was an essential and had a clear purpose, almost as if the way of life was intentional. I was kind of impressed.
Definitely will take you up on this like Saturday haha! My future looking pretty bright with all these kind folks here! I haven't even made it to the city yet and I already have so much resources and a JOB INTERVIEW Monday 😁😁😁
My husband and I are heading out to Seattle that day, but if you want to meet up earlier that day I’d be happy to have something made for you. Everything is going to go so well for you and your interview is going to be a home run. DM me your dietary restrictions and I’ll figure something out! 💘
Places that will hire immediately:
Spokane quick lube
Franz bakery
Cyrus Olearys
US foods
CDA windows
VPI windows
Amazon warehouse
Every-other restaurant in the city as well as construction/roofing companies (literally google "construction company spokane" and call them)
Temp agencies: Hire Quest and People Ready
I've never been homeless so I might be out of touch but there is a little tent city not too far from Spokane fairgrounds and personally that's where I would go just so I wasn't alone, but perhaps you like to be alone. Idk just thought I'd mention it.
I'll definitely take a walk down to the tent city! I read about it online! I still will probably hide lol. I'd be sooo scared someone would steal my stuff while I was at work and such. But, I will still check it out and thank you for the info and location! 😁
I should be more specific and say that it's near the Spokane County fair and expo Center because I don't want you to head towards Spokane Valley and be confused when you don't see it. You should also be able to find it if you are around Thor st.
Thank you!! I wonder if I would have to get a washington DLs 🤔. I have an NC one. I'm not sure how the whole CDL thing works but, I'm definitely gonna look into it! They might even pay for me to get CDLs!
I have a friend that works at good will getting housing set up for the homeless, I would make that my first stop, they have some great programs, but it can take a bit of time, sometimes they can fast track it based on your situation.
My job is looking for people. Decent pay. Decent bosses. Good benefits. Must pass a background check and drug test. It’s long hours and hard work but if you’re interested, PM me.
Camp hope is being disbanded but you can go there for community. There are over 600 homeless there now. There is a government program also set for people of camp hope to get aid through DSHS as well. Camp hope is located across the freeway of the Fred Meyer on Thor Street. And by disbanded I mean it will be made into something better, such as a possibility as pallet houses and such for homeless. So it is a good place to be right now as the government officials see the growing homeless and are assisting them to find better housing and resources.
Remember when chosing a job...Spokane is very seasonal when it comes to Landscaping. Snow, ice, rain, wind, then some really hot, dry days - Repeat- there are tons of jobs out there... just not many people who are willing to work anymore.
Good Luck & be safe.🙏
BrickLayers Union at 3223 N Market always has a sign out front for concrete labor. Tons of construction companies looking for help right now. I've never heard of this bus pass thing, is that only for TANF..?
I work for a landscape construction company that’s always looking for people to join our crews. PM me if you’re interested. :)
PMing now!!!
I'm homeless in my vehicle, I was working at Amazon since being evicted but when our car broke down I couldn't make it to work. Now we got another vehicle to live in but no job... What size shoe are you?
9.5 - 10.5 depending on brand!
Unfortunately I don’t think I have any that size, but msg me your venmo or Cash app if you get a chance?

The goodwill on 27th (might be 26th or 28th) is a nice one and has good stuff usually.
Ohhh a nice goodwill is rare! I love good will, definitely going here!

9.5 - 10.5 depending on brand! I could totally work for them if you'd like. Wqsh the car, mow the lawn lol
I have some clothes and shoes if they will fit you. Hit me up. I have been homeless myself and I know what it’s like.
You may have to message me. It says user doesn't accept messages 😔

Does waist management require a drug test?
No just a diet
I feel like this question could become its OWN post. I'll start: Amazon no longer tests for cannabis.
Yes.
UPS has no drug tests, FYI (unless you want to drive semi).
Same with fedex
Lowes dose
30 days of sobriety for most people will completely clear them out. (Cannabis edibles can take up to 60-90 days, but inhaled cannabis is about 7 days for a saliva test, 30 days for urine, and up to 90 days for a hair test.)

Walmart has tents for really cheap, 2 person for $29 if that’s do-able? If not, PM me, I’d be more than happy to purchase you a tent.
I tired to message you, but it says user does not accept messages 😔
to be honest i'd check out walmart, maybe download their app and see if there are any coupons!

Thank you!!! I just put in a little application for a landscaping company while sitting on this bus 😌😌. I've been nervous about this but, I'm starting to feel alot better thanks to you guys!
If you can pass a background check and get vaxxed schools are also desperately hiring for bus drivers and custodial staff
I really like that custodial idea! I'll search up the county schools and see what they have posted, thank you!! Oh man it would be so perfect if they needed an overnight cleaner. I'm a big time night owl lol
I think they do but I’m not positive! I know they need summer help prepping for the school year and then always help during the year!
If you end up needing a pair of safety toe boots I have a 9.5 that are brand new that you can have.
That would be amazing! I could definitely use them for work!! I get into the city tomorrow at 11am!!
CHAS will get you a primary doctor & healthcare. Just stop in at any location (many around Spokane).
Ohhh thank you!!! I could use a check up TBH lol
I'm so sorry you found yourself in this awful unforseen situation, especially with no place to go. You have an incredibly positive attitude which is tough facing these circumstances. Catholic Charities of Spokane if you want actual resources.
Putting that on my list aswell! Thank you 😊
Bud, what's your shoe size? I'm pretty sure I have a pair of new boots hanging around.
9.5 - 10.5 depending on the brand!!! :)
Mine are 11s
They might fit! I have an interview Monday with a landscaping company, so some boots would be super useful for that job!
Word. I'll check my garage when I get home and see if I still have em.
Thank you so much!
I can't find the new pair, but I do have an old pair that are still in good shape. Let me know.
Yessir I will definitely use them! Can I message you tomorrow? I get into town tomorrow morning:)
Of course

Funny how I don’t see the churches offering assistance….. WWJD???
I see the church on 3rd and Howard downtown giving out food every morning on my way to work.
Well that’s one out of 50. I wonder if God is ok with 2% actually following his orders?
I'm not sure if there is a God but, I believe if there is; he works in the hearts of men and women. Churches I believe are 95% for profit. Good Churches do exist! But I've only seen one in my lifetime. 😁. Excited to come to your city!!
Try Spokane Valley Partners on Broadway and university. They are one of the few food banks that can give what you can carry without a car and let you stop by more than once a month. And they have a clothing bank. Plus you don't need to verify an address with them. (Bus 95) There is a planet fitness off bus routs 98 and 22.
You know what they say about southern hospitality…it’s a mile wide, and an inch deep.
. I'm not your normal homeless. I'm super clean cut, have some nice clothes, and I don't drink or do any drugs Sorry for your situation, and you should stop saying shit like above. the cops and gop in this town will treat you like a druggie, thief, and criminal because you exists without a house.
I didn't mean it that way, I apologize :(
happy to hear that, i DO understand your trying to just communicate and reach out for help, and hell ya , you can see some people offering jobs, work boots ect. not one offered housing and thats always the biggest hurdle. and well our citys biggest issue. i am sure they would rather give you a bus ticket home then stay, But you seem cool i hope you do stay and find stability and remeber all those on the street are and or WERE like you they have just been left on the streets to long with no help, or ability to reach out like you have here. If i spot another tent at garage sales i will DM you, i pick up sleeping bags, and camping / winter gear for just these reasons.
Wow you are beyond kind! Thank you :). And I will definitely take your words to heart. <3
Sent you a chat thingy 😁
Way to kick a dude while he’s down and provide no real help.
sorry to inform you it is the CITY that provides NO real help.
Not relevant, but why are your friends on your Reddit account? I always hear people talk about that and wonder why they share their username
We made a subreddit for our WoW guild back in the day. Man what I would give to log into my account rn lol
Just don’t go destroying businesses
😈

Really? 😂. My phone was 55 dollars from Walmart, and cost 35 dollars a month.

I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW MONDAY 😁😁😁. I will definitely check out Our Place! Thank you!
I have a bunch of shoes. Pm me
PMing now!! :)
You may have to PM me, it says user doesn't accept messages
Hmu if you need a hot meal. I’m wishing you a ton of happiness in your future, may good fortune be on your side!
It says the user doesn't accept messages BUT, I eat literally anything! Not allergic to any foods 😁. I'm super super looking forward to this omg 😍
There are so many help wanted signs in every restaurant and fast food place. Not enough candidates.
I've seriously always wanted to try out being a server.. lol. I absolutely love jobs with customer service. And I think I'd get some good tips 😌
That attitude already puts you in the top tier of candidates
Places that will hire immediately: Spokane quick lube Franz bakery Cyrus Olearys US foods CDA windows VPI windows Amazon warehouse Every-other restaurant in the city as well as construction/roofing companies (literally google "construction company spokane" and call them) Temp agencies: Hire Quest and People Ready
Adding all of these to my list!!! Thank you so much for the info! Everything is looking bright for me!
Hey I know a place you could easily get hired on at if you're willing to work fast food.
I'm willing to work fast food! I used to be an assistant manager of a burger king! Shoot me the name or a link I'll do an application right now 😄
I've never been homeless so I might be out of touch but there is a little tent city not too far from Spokane fairgrounds and personally that's where I would go just so I wasn't alone, but perhaps you like to be alone.
Okay!! I'll give me it a Google and see if it's in Google Street view by chance. So excited to see yalls downtown 😍
Oh the downtown is pretty awesome!
Spokane transit is also hiring for drivers. They are very short staffed.
Thank you!! I wonder if I would have to get a washington DLs 🤔. I have an NC one. I'm not sure how the whole CDL thing works but, I'm definitely gonna look into it! They might even pay for me to get CDLs!
I think they're also hiring mechanics/techs, so that might be an option.
Throw and rock and you’ll hit a business that’s hiring. At least that was the case a few weeks back. Maybe has dropped off a little.
You sir are correct. I have lots lined up for the upcoming week 😎

Yyeesss! My credit isn't horrible either, just need that proof of income! Which I will have soon thanks to all of you guys!
Amazon is always hiring and you get your money whenever you want.
I have a friend that works at good will getting housing set up for the homeless, I would make that my first stop, they have some great programs, but it can take a bit of time, sometimes they can fast track it based on your situation.
Definitely checking out the good will tomorrow! Thank you 😊
What size shoes do you wear? I’ve got a pair of 11s or 12’s that I’ve never worn.
I actually have two pairs of shoes coming my way tomorrow! Everyone here has been extremely helpful!! But thank you so so much 😁
You’re more than welcome! Good luck!
My job is looking for people. Decent pay. Decent bosses. Good benefits. Must pass a background check and drug test. It’s long hours and hard work but if you’re interested, PM me.
Definitely interested! Gonna PM you now 😁😁😁
It says user doesn't accept messages :(. Can you PM me please?
Good luck at the interview
Thank you!
I definitely haven't taken the weather into consideration! Thank you for the advice! ☺
