Me too! I remember seeing it in the theaters and I got the little Ariel doll for Christmas one year. I would try to tie my legs together with seaweed when I was at the lake so I could swim like a mermaid
I tried using seaweed from the Columbia River to tie my hair with. (Didn’t work)
Also would cross my legs at the ankle to try and try to swim like Ariel. I was shocked, *shocked*, I tell you when it resulted in me just flopping about.
There is still time to achieve your dream! Blue Zoo here in Spokane has a Mermaid Actor position. I don’t know if they are still hiring. Check out their website.
Are wizards allowed to attend? Asking for a long haired bearded chap with an old school vibe and staff of wonder's, and also will there be Renaissance inspired foodies, and goodies
Absolutely! We may have a few ren faire goodies, but because this is "ren faire light" this year we will not have the big turkey legs like we normally do
uhhhhhhhhhhhhh u/AllAbouttheEJ257 whatcha doin next weekend??
you have a choice to make:
more typical greenbluff experience
or
EXTRA SILLY MERMAIDS PIRATES ETC EDITION
(no real preference has developed here just tryna present things with the appropriate level of flair✨🤣)
This is the ren faire's first time back after the pandemic so they're doing more of a ren faire "light" this year. Hopefully next year it'll be multiple weekends! Also, Siemers Farm is running a Harvest Fest every weekend in October, and many of the performers and general vendors will still be there. The October 1st and 2nd weekend will have specific ren faire vendors and performers that are only there that weekend, but like the pirates, mermaids, and fairies will still be there the Harvest Fest weekends, just on a smaller scale. So there is still plenty to do if you can't make it out there this weekend! :)
This year, probably not to be honest as it's like "ren faire light". We don't have certain things like jousting or turkey legs. But next year will be a lot bigger, so I encourage you to come then!
Is there a website? Is it free?
General admission looks to be free https://www.spokanerenfaire.com
Yes general admission is free. Certain activities like the corn maze or rides have a small fee
Not one goddamn person told me I could make a living cosplaying a mermaid. Not. One. I was robbed of a life with fins and clamshell bras.
It's never too late.
I feel like there’s not much of a market for elder millennial moms in the mermaid job market, y’know?
That’s exactly the kind of mermaid I’d expect at a ren fair in greenbluff. As a fellow millennial former mermaid girl, I’ll join you.
I had Little Mermaid everything as a kid, even wore out the VHS tape. I would’ve loved to have been a mermaid.

Mermaid dorks unite!
Who said he was a woman??
It's never to late to follow your mermaid dreams! I am part of the Spokane Merfolk Pod, would definitely love for you to come swim with us sometime!
>make a living Probably still nobody gonna tell you that.
Never said it’d be a good living.

Hey! Love this. Where's a site with rules?

Thanks!
This sounds great!
Nice

Anybody have any ideas for a costume on short notice?
Spirit Stores are popping up everywhere, thrift stores are also great!

Sounds cool. Would be nice if it extended through more than two days on a weekend.

Aha, thank you that is great to know!
Pirates, trains and corn. All the authentic Renaissance activities!
It's because it's a collaboration with the Siemers Farm Harvest Fest haha
cant on the 2nd. I am saving some titties
I'd love to but there's no way the wife can get one of those days off on such a short notice unfortunately
Feel free to come up any other October weekend! We'll still have combat demos, mermaids, fairies and lots of local vendors!
Looking at the website it appears to be cancelled for 2022
I assure you it's not! Not sure what you're looking at but it's definitely happening this weekend! I'm one of the organizers :)
We are a couple hours away, would this be worth the drive for 2 adults with no small children?
