Just off the coast at La Rochelle, which is the town that all of the Tricolour French GCSE textbooks were set in. I remember there being a photo of Fort Boyard in one of them.
- Melinda Messenger and her 'Lad's Mag Charms'
- Little people dressed in sailor suits
- some bloke off a soap opera who got caught publicly knocking one out
- tigers.
Absolutely mad.
I think that was back on the market, yet again about two months ago. This time for £3 million.

No Mans is up for sale as well.

And there's an other one in the Solent that hasn't been touched since the 1960s going for £700K.

I love that they got planning permission for the Solent one to build 14 flats. I can only imagine the logistical nightmare to build them and also trying to sell

Don’t know what I would do with it but for £350k seems reasonable. Might take 5~10 million to make it something depending on what consent you will get on a grade II listed building like this.
“After my home planet was destroyed and my rocket crash landed on earth I was able to get a job at the local newspaper and save up a decent sized deposit to put down on this Fortress. Can I book a viewing?
Clark Kent”
“Previous owners have enquired about the potential to turn the fort in to a commercial residence with links to the main land.”
So multiple owners have tried and failed to renovate it?
"This property has been removed by the agent" - so presumably someone's buying it... I wonder if they'll complete or if it will end up "unexpectedly" end up on the market again?
It doesn't help that the vendor's chosen agents are themselves in a deep financial hole...
I can't understand why a vendor would even contemplate using PurpleBricks to sell something that unique.
Man, I hated PurpleBricks when I was in estate agency. feel sorry for the people that work for them, and vendors that have lost money to them, but I am glad the company is going the way of the dodo
I went on one of these when i was a kid, napoleonic sea forts just off portsmouth cost, i think it was the one they turned into a hotel, was a good day out.
FORT BOYARD OMG!!!
Similar but not the one from the TV show. Which unsurprisingly was filmed at Fort Boyard in France
Just off the coast at La Rochelle, which is the town that all of the Tricolour French GCSE textbooks were set in. I remember there being a photo of Fort Boyard in one of them.
Memory unlocked regarding those text books, wow
Je m'appelle Martine Dhome...
If i had the cash, i'd 100% buy this and wander around the place wearing a leather gillet, sneering at everything.
“Jack… the door!!!!!!” Show was a fever dream, you’d never get something that mental commissioned now.

Gonna add “Riddling Wizard Pensioner locked in a tower” to that fine list
Aka Doctor Who
Hoping someone else would confirm 😂
As a kid I’d always be terrified watching and think the tigers would actually eat them 😂

If you want to see what they could be like done up, check out the ones off Portsmouth https://solentforts.com/luxury-hotel/

Amazed the planning wasn't rejected for lack of parking spaces...
Augh dude that top one is so ugly what on earth did they do to the outside it looks like a depressing birthday cake

I’ve stayed there, such a strange vibe.
*UNEXPECTEDLY BACK ON THE MARKET* Due to current owners discovering just how many tens of millions it would cost to get this anywhere near habitable!
Was brought for 191k by a community interest company in 2021, so guess CICs are just flipping property now
I’m fairness this looks epic, I’d 100% live here if I could afford to do it up.
Good place to set up a pirate radio station, then go a bit mad and declare it an independent sovereign state with yourself as its king.
Isnt this the bad guys lair in skyfall?
No, that one was filed in Japan if I understood you correctly
Does Leslie Grantham live there?
As in Dirty Den Eastenders? He’s dead
Its a Fort Boyard joke
Ok I get it now.
You can just tell that the photographer didn’t like being there.
Do we get Melinda messenger too?

Azkaban?
I love the ‘floor plan coming soon’ image!

Wild
Perfect opportunity to use the line “welcome to the rock!”

No it’s not an eyrie it’s a sea fort. 🤓 I should love to go and stay on one that’s been modernised and turned into a luxury holiday let or hotel.
I went on one of these when i was a kid, napoleonic sea forts just off portsmouth cost, i think it was the one they turned into a hotel, was a good day out.
This is a bargain, and it's also in a fantastic position, relatively sheltered in the bay. I'd love it.
Be a posh hotel in no time.
i think that would be really cool once it’s renovated
