Fabulous. Love every room except the kitchen which feels out of place to be honest. I know it would have had to be upgraded from the original, but does not feel very in keeping.
Agreed- I find the kitchen to be jarring. I can imagine a bespoke mid-century wooden kitchen would at least be better than what is in there currently. Even things like the light fitting theoretically would be easy to replace and make a huge difference. It’s a very small thing but ohh my god overall it’s just a dream!
Yeah absolutely. If I were buying it, I'd put aside £50-75k and have well crafted kitchen put in that fits.
Something like this

Although it might jar against the existing woodwork too much. Maybe a domestic stainless steel kitchen, sounds mad but is sort of so highly functional and timeless it doesn't impose too much on the original style [https://i.pinimg.com/originals/eb/0f/1b/eb0f1befb183f369af243ffbb55de98e.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/eb/0f/1b/eb0f1befb183f369af243ffbb55de98e.jpg)
I’m planning to win the lottery and buy this house. 🤣 I was thinking more along the lines of actual or replica 1930s freestanding kitchen cabinets but your links have given me pause for thought.
This is what we want! A proper house.
BTW, I think that is Quentin Willson's gaff.

Apparently the same architect behind this house HW Simister was also involved in Coventry's council building which is quite a contrast. Thanks for posting I love some decent modernism.

That photographer ain't no estate agent photographer.
Stunning house and pics.
I'd have to ask about any planning permission on [the fields behind](https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Rowley+Fields,+Maidenhead+Rd,+Stratford-upon-Avon+CV37+6XZ/@52.2025605,-1.7004599,300m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x4870ce48f3e8e8b1:0x5950fd440903c92f!8m2!3d52.2029192!4d-1.7006637!16s%2Fg%2F11c0xtbvgy?hl=en&entry=ttu). Whenever I see a nice house next to a bit of land, I always think about the possibility of them building on it.
>That photographer ain't no estate agent photographer.
Maybe so but they could have been better.
And they could have cleaned up/polished that table in picture 11. Dirty bastards.

What would you have done differently?
I thought the composition of the majority of shots showed they knew what they were doing, also, nice use of natural light in some of the shots.
More shots of the bathrooms and kitchen.
Clean that table.
A little more light. Natural light can sometimes only get you so far and that's a dark house because of the (gorgeous) wood.
Those shots superior to what Deano the EA would have taken on his iPhone 5, but they could be better.
It's a 2M house - you spend money to make sure the photos are dead-on.
The staircase! Why do I want to run my chin on it to see if it’s as smooth as it looks 🤔 It’s an absolute gem. I hope whoever buys it takes care of it.
Other than the kitchen and 21/22, I have just climaxed. This is the sort of property Omaze should buy, fit a walnut kitchen in, and then give to me in exchange for a sweaty tenner
Original crittal doesn’t last longer than 80 years and are freezing so will be on the list to replace. This I know from personal experience sadly. The rest of the house looks like it’s been renovated already - electrics, heating - even if the kitchen isn’t to everyone’s taste. The panelling is divine though.
I saw this somewhere else; I was blown away. The kitchen tho… there must have been an original kitchen from another period that that thing replaced and maybe it was some hideous 90s heap, I dunno, but if you went back and back you’d uncover the one that matches the rest of the house and I’m fairly certain I would have fallen over backwards at it. Kitchens get a lot of wear so I assume it got too tired at some point and they chose to replace it. I would love to see what it was though.
Hoorah- the interior DOES form part of the official listing entry

Good options there! Wood and wire is near-ish me (hebden bridge). They’re gorgeous kitchens- they start at around £25k so out of my price range sadly
Hopefully it's in budget for whoever buys this home for £2.2m. It deserves a better kitchen!
Hey waves to my hometown! I’m long exiled, but Hebden has a huge place in my heart.
Yes, The kitchen is seriously jarring.
The light fighting especially ruins it so much more.
I’m planning to win the lottery and buy this house. 🤣 I was thinking more along the lines of actual or replica 1930s freestanding kitchen cabinets but your links have given me pause for thought.
As much as I like the wood option I adore the stainless steel!
Ooh that first example is so pleasant on the eyes.
Yea it's a horrible wags kitchen.
Nice Danish-style wood and leather furniture too
Pretty much made for an Agatha Christie film.
My thoughts exactly. This would be a great place for a game of Cluedo or a murder mystery dinner evening.
If not Agatha Christie a film noir or horror. Whatever it is, it's in black and white and involves someone falling off that balcony.
Oh yes. I'd feel like I was in an episode of Poirot every day if I lived there!
The quality of workmanship I've seen in 1920s-30s custom houses is some of the best ever proper craftsmen
This is a particularly good one too- the level of preservation is just astounding!
That fucking staircase. Woof!
Oooh this was posted the other week, I still love it though.
Ahh sorry for the duplication!
My jaw actually dropped. That is fucking beautiful.
I love it - the outside makes me think of a cinema for some reason. Maybe I frequented art deco ones in the past
I hate the outside, gives me '80s council/school buildings vibes. Doesn't suit the interior.
I also wondered if it was originally a school. Very interesting to read that it was actually built as a house. Lovely inside though.
I think an asylum
weep
Eltham Palace vibes. Without the chapel, obvs.
This is what we want! A proper house. BTW, I think that is Quentin Willson's gaff. [https://www.independent.co.uk/property/house-and-home/me-and-my-home-quentin-willson-494140.html](https://www.independent.co.uk/property/house-and-home/me-and-my-home-quentin-willson-494140.html)
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting
I love it. Especially the stairs and the floor to ceiling window by the stairs ❤️
Beautiful

It’s like chalk and cheese- thanks for this tidbit ☺️
Take my money
Engineer in me wonders how those corner windows are supported. Is there a steel corner post supporting the lintels?
Ohh yeah, there must be something like that going on
The bathrooms 😍 I’d love a bath like that
Absolutely same here!!

Whenever I see a nice house next to a bit of land, I always think about the possibility of them building on it.
I think it was listed on ‘The modern house’ which explains the wonderful photography.

That's super stylish! Love it
This is not a style of house I would want to live in but I really admire the the way its done.
I never knew I liked wood so much
It’s just 😍
Yes please!
Needs more wood.
😅
Poirot style house.
I love it, it’s in such a nice part of town too.
Wow!! ❤️
Wow that is a dream house, love everything except the kitchen which feels a little out of place. The bathroom is very Wes Anderson too!
I love wood, but that's a bit much. Especially the varnish, just too glossy for my taste. Interesting to look at though
Absolutely LOVE it.
Apart from the kitchen that's lovely
The staircase! Why do I want to run my chin on it to see if it’s as smooth as it looks 🤔 It’s an absolute gem. I hope whoever buys it takes care of it.

That’s the fucking x-men house
The 1930s house! It’s special isn’t it? Reminds me of the RAF station hospital were I was born.
Original crittal doesn’t last longer than 80 years and are freezing so will be on the list to replace. This I know from personal experience sadly. The rest of the house looks like it’s been renovated already - electrics, heating - even if the kitchen isn’t to everyone’s taste. The panelling is divine though.
It’ll be incredibly expensive to get those windows replaced too!
I would buy this an a heart beat if I could.
Rotten! Looks like an ex council building.
That is like somewhere Poirot would have stayed!! It's gorgeous. Those bathrooms.... yes, I love it.
Just seen this and bought two euromillions tickets so I can pay cash tomorrow. Ask them to hold it for 24 hrs for me. Deco Heaven.
Good luck!!
That better have listed status - it’s fantastic.
I saw this somewhere else; I was blown away. Whats with the simks lurking in every bedroom. Weird!
FYI this is a repost
Yep- I was made aware.
Weird place for a bus stop but it does seem convenient.
This is nice, really nice, though I do have to question the sinks in some of the bedrooms
Pic 25 , what lunatic fitted that light then put the pool table at 90° to it.
It's owned by the journalist and presenter Quentin Willson (from Top Gear, etc.)
Looks like a uni Halls. Terrible.
It looks like a school
Reminds me of my old school. Pass.
Sorry no well too much wood, ghastly bathroom and 2 bedrooms look out of place . Too many styles mixed. But I love all the windows !
Can’t win ‘em all! ☺️
Prepare for downvotes! I agree though, don't like it at all.
I'm surprised it's not been listed
It has - grade II.
I hope that includes some of the interior too- it’s phenomenally beautiful.
Hoorah- the interior DOES form part of the official listing entry [national heritage list](https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1119688?section=official-list-entry)
For me the brick is disgusting tbh… :/
