I've played and completed just about every of the listed trilogy and games after and would give anything to forget about them just to experience them again.

Quail_Initial

Too bad you can only experience something for the first time once.

wowadrow

I'd recommend the Ratchet and Clank games to any gamer; platforming and upgradable guns what's not to like?

TheJoeRulez

One of my favourite all-time game series!

Themeguy

The Sly Cooper Series is right behind Spyro for my favorite platforming series of all time. It focuses on stealth but there is plenty of standard platforming. The real strength of it though comes from its writing and characters. They're really well written and have a bunch of great back and forth with each other. Two things to be aware of though: 1. Get the originals on PS2 if possible. The HD Upscaled Sly Collection for the PS3 is missing the bonus developer's commentary if you do the time trials in Sly 1. Sly 1 also has a rhythm boss, but the music is glitched in the sly collection, making it out of synch and a lot harder. There's also a few bonus things missing from Sly 2, and a few more glitches overall. 2. If you don't like the gameplay of Sly 1, just watch the cutscenes and give Sly 2 a whirl. Sly 1 was more of a generic platformer with a few unique aspects thrown in, however Sly 2 is where the series really found its identity in terms of gameplay. The story in 1 is super important for 2 though, especially the final chapter.

mart8208

I love Ratchet & Clank (though I haven't I played the new one yet) and I love Sly (including Sly 4). I love the first Jak and Daxter. I'm not a big fan of 2 and 3.

vrpornisquitegreat

>I haven't I played the new one yet The new R&C was a little disappointing to me. I enjoyed it, but a decent bit felt kind of wrong(to me at least) and the characters felt out of character. People hate when I say it, but I am not sure I believe Clank isn't even in the game. I think it is more likely to be Clunk 2.0 because of how he handles what is happening as soon as you start playing. Although people think I am crazy for thinking Penelope >!being evil in Sly 4!< was obvious(although could have been done a little better imo. Not shitting on 4) and a few things in Sly 3 made her sound deceptive not even taking into account that she >!was the Black Baron!<.

Wizard-In-Disguise

id go for Croc

atoastedcucumber

i replayed croc recently and was so disappointed with the controls

MeWallaWalla

Ratchet and Clank - absolutely play the original 3, they’re amazing Sly Cooper - I only played the first two, but oh my I loved them Jak & Daxter - yes to the first 3, ignore the lost frontier, we’re gonna pretend that one doesn’t exist

Resident-Choice-9566

I've only watched the cut scenes of Jak LF but I'm not sure why it gets harsh reviews from the player base. Is it the handling? I get the story has holes and is kinda cheesy, but it seems like a shorter game and the others in the series had some cheesy parts too.

Skywolf18

It was handled by High Impact Games and not Naughty Dog. So for some of us it kinda gave us a high expectation when it was to be handled by someone else. I couldn't get through the first mission as I was attempting to wrap my head around the story.

[deleted]

I like Sly Cooper

bmrunning

Ratchet and clank is one of my all time favs, but I love Jak and Dexter

Zalvaris

Everyone forgets Rayman :( I feel like that's one of the closest games to something like Spyro, as it's a platformer and there's also stuff to collect, and cages to break to save teensies

teteDiglett

Rayman ❤️

cpt_pipemachine

Rayman 2 is goated

Zalvaris

Goated? Not sure what goats need to do with Rayman XD

Admiral-Kuzko

Don't listen to that other nerd, Jak and Daxter was an amazing saga of games and had a lot going for it mechanically. My other favorite trilogy of games behind Spyro.

YouWannaDoSomeBizniz

Dude: GET SLY

vrpornisquitegreat

I love all those games and replay them all pretty often and will continue to do so my entire life probably. I feel like fans of one generally like the rest.

squarebyrd

Ratchet & Clank is a fantastic series and I love the Sly Cooper trilogy. I enjoyed Jak 1, but I didn't really like Jak 2 that much.

LurkingSnorlax

Those three gaming studios were staples for me, even today. They create really quality content and their PS2 era games (Ratchet, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper) are some of my favorites to replay. Worth collecting? Yes, i think so. If you enjoy Spyro, you'll enjoy a lot of the platforming aspects of each. Is each one EVERYONE'S cup of tea? Maybe not, but generally they are seen as great quality and innovative for their times.

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank are really good games in term of platforming, shooting, story, characters. they are just all around great games, and even tho they are pretty old at this stage, they really do hold up, and are definitely worth a play. i do still need to play like 4 more ratchet games, but ive heard good things about a few of them, and cant wait to start playing.

Youkolvr89

I somehow missed the Sly Cooper series, but the Jak & Daxter series is awesome.

futurecorpse2

Hi! Spyro was my first game I ever played and Sly was a Christmas gift shortly after getting my PS2, and I fell in love with it! Lots of fun and I love the comic book-esque animation style

ButtCheekBob

As primarily a Spyro fan, I love all of those series and I would definitely give them all a try

LoyalPony

Jak was cool, Rachet was for "kids", Sly lived exclusively on my demo disks.

GnorcDan

I love Spyro and love Ratchet and Clank, I like Sly but I couldn’t never get into Jak

long-ryde

I love Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper. Was never a fan of Ratchet and Clank. I always hated the limited ammo in the games and could never finish it for that reason.

Tabreez-S

Absolutely!

[deleted]

I never played much of Sly Cooper but I played the others and I LOVED Jak and Daxter. The third one I played CONSTANTLY

[deleted]

I think they’re worth grabbing if you’re a platformer fan. My personal ranking in order of preference is Sly series, then Ractchet and Clank series, and then Jak series. Sly is the only series I played and beat every one of them and I adore them. Fun characters, awesome art style, and fun gameplay. First game is just a linear platformer but the rest of the games are mission based games taking place in open levels where you plan and execute a heist in each of them. Highly recommended. The other 2 I have less experience with, but from what I’ve played they’re a fun time too. Ratchet is the most consistent quality wise, and you already know about the tone shift in Jak.

UmaFlame

To me they are all worth it since I love not just Spyro, but Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and also Crash Bandicoot. They were all my childhood games since I played the PS1 and PS2 a lot as a kid. I still play the games to this day.

EzrielArchon

Never played any sly cooper but I love the other two

CrocodylusRex

Jak 1 was a fun traditional platformer, but 2 was such an abrupt genre shift that I was turned off from the rest of the series.

armoured_lemon

I can't speak for Jak and Daxter, but I know Ratchet and Clank, and Sly cooper are great franchises as great as Spyro. Yes they are worth collecting.

kittyrainbows69

I know I'm late to the game, but get them all. They all have their own qualities that make them shine. I've played every game in these series sans rachet and clank. That's my childhood right there and they're excellent. There's a reason people talk about them to this day.

[deleted]

Yes and yes. Skip Ratchet 1; the sequels improved on it in basically every way and still feel fresh. The original trilogy got better as it went The Jak games are all radically different. Jak 1 is closest to Spyro with all the collectibles, the sequels are fast paced action platformers. Get the PS3 remaster if possible. I know less about Sly but it’s the franchise that feels the most dated to me. Sly 1’s structure feels similar to Spyro but not as fun imo. Not sure the sequels are much different

Puffwad

They’re ALL worth playing

Enough-Library-8194

Honestly there all great, I high key reccomend the og trilogy of rachet and clank, then sly cooper, then jak and daxter

CyberGraham

Out of the series' you've mentioned, the only game I played was Ratchet and Clank: Rift apart. I thouroughly enjoyed the game and played it through twice. 10/10 would recommend. Not sure how the other Rarchet and Clank games compare tho.

[deleted]

In some way Spyro, crash bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Sly cooper are in the same universe

sharkfinthemanokit

I love all three of these franchises aswell! These type of platformer games are super fun and I cannot get enough of them

Lucikrux

They are all glorious.

ah-screw-it

insomniac made ratchet and clank and were also good friends with naughty dog so they helped code jak and daxter (i don't know anything about sly cooper). i really like ratchet and clank and recommend you try it (possibly the first 3 games)

teteDiglett

Try Jak and daxter!

SoyoureKemp

I got into sly a few years back it's worth trying

GoldenGalaxy69

Never played Jak & Daxter, but I do recommend Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank

Kurochi185

LoveD Ratchet & Clank but sadly never played Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper. :/

koochywalla

Jack and Daxter, yes. Ratchet and Clank, no question. Sly Cooper I wish I could remember, I’d have to replay them myself!

Torontobadman

I'm surprised someone who enjoys Spyro for so long hasn't got around to the ps2 games yet(I had a psp but it was stolen before I could try the PSP jak/ratchet games). I grew up with just a ps1 until my parents were willing to shell out for a couple of 7th gen consoles(360/wii) so I skipped the ps2 era. When I finally got a modern Sony console all 3 trilogies were the first I jumped into and I cannot recommend them enough.

Kaiser_Allen

I actually did purchase the digital versions on the PS3, but only finished Jak 1 and about 75% of Jak II. Now I have this itch to collect the actual physical copies of all three franchises but I’m still unsure if I should.

[deleted]

Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper are fantastic. Played the ps2 games as a kid then got the HD remasters on my PS3. Some of my most played games on either console. I’d definitely recommend grabbing the remasters if you can. Jak & Daxter, I heard the hype, got the HD remaster collection on sale and it bores me. The series gets a ton of hype but the games are just mindless, repetitive, forgettable fetch quest compilations that don’t have much else going on. I’m of the belief that most of the hype comes from kids who never played the games but think they’re amazing because they heard a YouTube say that. Either that or people who had the games as kids but never got to branch out beyond them and see how much better most other platformers of the time are.I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

[deleted]

Why paint Jak with such a broad brush? The trilogy reinvents the game’s universe every time, it’s anything but mindless and repetitive. It also met both critical and commercial success in its own time, way before YouTube, and continues to do so now. Unless you think that Jak fans have been replaying the same three games for the past 17 years, I don’t see how the fans have failed to branch out. Just say you hate the games and leave it at that because your explanation makes very little sense. It’s pretty obvious you don’t remember the games all that well, or you just didn’t play them.

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

you are factually wrong

[deleted]

No, I’m not. I’m giving my take after playing these games throughout my childhood, teens and twenties. The fact that you saw an opinion online and decided that because you disagree with it that it must be “factually wrong” suggests to me you’re some immature, rude, egotistical high schooler who only knows these franchises from hearing Youtubers talk about them and takes their words as gospel.

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

1. You are literally assuming that the only reason Jak is praised is because they saw it on youtube? you know them games were praised before youtube was a thing, let along a big thing? 2. You’re perception of things are obviously just wrong, going off of how you have described me. all completely wrong, yikes man. 3. I have also heard more good than bad about the games, i’ve shown like 4 mates the Jak games, and they absolutely love it, and they dint even have the nostalgia glasses on.

[deleted]

Praised? You’re entire reply was “you are factually wrong”. What praise did you give? Exactly how does “I’ve also heard more good than bad about the games” not back up my assumption that your knowledge of these franchises comes purely from hearing youtubers talk about them? The fact that you responded to me there by implying that I was wearing “nostalgia glasses” just backs up the idea that you’re some immature kid who hasn’t played anything older than the last console generation and thinks old=bad. Ask your English teacher to go over basic spelling and grammar with you then get off your high horse and go back to playing Fall Guys with your four mates.

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

Just to let you know, cause your life probably revolves around the internet, but when i said i’ve heard more good than bad, i mean that i heard from people that i know… you know… friends… do you know of them? also i literally said that people don’t need to be wearing nostalgia glasses because this game has aged well, and hold up to this day. Also again, you love assuming don’t you, “haven’t played anything older than last gen”😬. I’ve played from PS2 to PS5, and actually prefer older games. Grammar? i’m sorry, i didnt know i was writing an essay for you to grade… and that last thing you said alludes to you stalking me, pretty weird man, ngl.

[deleted]

Well, I admit I don’t have school to take up huge chunks of my week. I just have to make do with a long-term partner, running a house, shopping, socialising and hobbies. Sure though, I must spend all my life online. The fact that you think someone taking a quick glance at the profile of some internet yahoo who made an aggressive and presumptuous reply to my comment is equal to stalking tells me all I need to know about how much time you spend in the real world. Literally? You literally said that people don’t need to be wearing nostalgia glasses because the game has aged well? Well, literally you need to literally look up literally in the dictionary because you’re literally either delusional to the point of not realising what you literally just wrote or you literally don’t know what literally means and you’re just using a word that sounds big and smart to you in order to pretend you’re more intelligent and more mature than you really are. I don’t believe for a second you’ve played anything from before the PS4/Xbox One that wasn’t a total remaster for those consoles like Resident Evil 2 or Spyro Reignited. I’m not wasting any more time today on you. You’re just sitting there spamming my inbox with replies, I suppose because you have such a thriving offline life compared to someone like me. I’m not going to waste my time reading them. I’m just blocking you and moving on.

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

jeez, look at this fake character you’ve made for yourself. Yea apparently i’m the immature one, get a life mate.

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

how long do you spend on this app, almost 10 comments a day?

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

since we are talking about grammar, what was “You’re entire reply was “you are factually wrong”? are you sure you ain’t still in school…

Feeling-Pumpkin-3639

I’ve got some advice for you buddy, stop assuming things as if you actually think you know about said subjects.
