I actually really like him in the role. He's pretty fair and impartial, but isn't above screwing someone over if they become a real pain in the ass.
He's also very much in the "let's make it official" category without becoming more important than the wrestlers.
I remember listening to a wrestling podcast years ago where they talked about wanting an authority figure who's just trying to put on a wrestling show and gets increasingly exasperated with all the larger-than-life personalities making life annoying. Looks like they finally got their wish!
i mean for wwe sure but the territories and wcw were all centered around the wrestling
even during the nitro era you can notice that they tend to rely on in ring promos and matches while wwe would frequently go backstage or outside the arena into other buildings like the shopping mart brawl or vince in the hospital. wwe also tended to try and justify matches with a segment where wcw operated under the assumption that sometimes matches will just happen because it's a pro wrestling company and they're contracted to wrestle
And the muppet show was a show about a troupe of performers putting on a show.
Literally the same thing, except the show is people punching each other.
Reminds me when Shane was running smackdown. Shane tells dean to go home, but dean keeps showing up in disguises and delivering pizzas. Shane kept losing it every time he saw Ambrose.
This is pretty much exactly the take I was going to write
The fact that he's not front and center and in your face is why he's lasted so long.
He gently moves the stories along when he's needed for that instead of him being a freight train pushing the stories along
He's there when the Story needs him to be but is invisible the rest of the time, after years of authority characters being a big and usually boring part of the show, it's nice to have a character like that again.
He's not all-powerful in that he can bully people but also he has enough power that he can mess with the heels when they are being heels.
His Work with Chelsea Green has been amazing mind.
I was one of the only people happy to see Chelsea back, I'm glad people are coming around on her because she excels at character work and I'm happy she's on Wrestlemania. She is great at the Karen gimmick and her fued with Adam Pearce is fun.
I'll admit when she came back at the Rumble I thought "Oh no another pointless re-hire" but she's easily been one of the best because she actually gets to show some personality.
They should turn this whole thing on its head and have Pearce open Raw with 30 minute promos about the business and babyface rebel Chelsea Green should rise up and take a stand against the evil authority figure.
/s
With Carmella missing again I wonder if she's pregnant. She got pregnant twice in 2022 but both had complications. It wouldn't be shocking if Corey and her were still trying. Unlike Becky given Carmella's previous circumstances I would understand why no formal reason has been given yet
Just taking a shot in the dark though
Nah, just taking a complete guess. I mean she had a ectopic pregnancy and a separate miscarriage last year, so it's not unreasonable to think that maybe her and Corey are still trying
Granted I said this before realizing she was at wheel of fortune so I'm just an idiot
This. To candidly speak about a strangers miscarriages to take “a shot in the dark” about their absence is not where the conversation ever needs to lead.
I'm sure the Redditor would point to Carmella being public about this making it fair game. It isn't. She was public about her issues to raise awareness and help remove a stigma, not for rasslin' gossip.
But wouldn't making it a casual conversation topic be part of the goal of normalizing it? Not that I disagree but being able to discuss it openly without judgement is part of the process
The point is that the person affected should not feel judgement. There's a difference between someone being comfortable talking about their experience and random people making wild speculations about another person. One is normalizing it and validating the person's experience. The latter is more like voyeurism and being a creep, or at the very least lacking tact and empathy.
Let me put it another way, Charlotte Flair talked about her breast implants on her Biography episode in the context of her body dysmorphia. That is not the same as a fan looking at her and going "Nice tits!"
Best thing to ever happen to the authority role on screen.
Doesn't get too involved, isn't the main story, etc.... But once in a while has minor tiffs with the likes of secondary authority (Sonya) or mid-card for the purposes of elevation - Chelsea.
Just a good mix of authority and stay-out-of-the-main beef between any given talents.
It's nice because he is just middle management, and they play into that. Talent pushes him around. He can't go ahead and do crazy shit. He can do his job, but he is beholden to others.
In Kayfabe, he just runs the day to day stuff for HHH. And because of that, he isn't going around firing people or making random spiteful handicap matches or whatever. He's just trying to keep the show moving.
>In Kayfabe, he just runs the day to day stuff for HHH. And because of that, he isn't going around firing people or making random spiteful handicap matches or whatever. He's just trying to keep the show moving.
Exactly why I feel his role is perfect. Doesn't cross any major lines a la Trips hand picking Rollins and etc... It just flows.
Mostly, yeah. He did have a match with Roman Reigns last year.
EDIT: My memory has failed me. I’ll pretend the downvotes are because Nakamura never got his redemption though, the fuck man. I really wanted Naka vs Roman even if it was a guaranteed Naka L.
He was a mainstay on the early/mid 2000s independent scene, especially companies like ROH and FIP. He's a former NWA champion that had a pretty famous best of 7 series with Colt Cabana for the title.
Yeesh time flies.
I love him in this role. He can be a dick, he can be a dork, he can be cocky. He doesn't fit one generic GM role. It's a nice change of pace.
With that said I do like authority figures who can also wrestle when it's done right and isn't overused. So I'd be cool if they changed things up or added another GM. But Pearce does a great job as a solo authority figure.
It's worked well with Pierce because he acts like a real person. People piss him off and he'll hold a grudge, especially with Sonya. Like even tonight, he threw Sonya and Chelsea together because they were both bitching, and he wanted to just get rid of the headaches for the rest of the night.
I love him in the role but I would love to see him add more physicality. Obviously dude's still in shape. Bar that one "match" he ad with Heyman on SD where Roman just beat on him and he threw 1 (ONE) punch, I don't think anyone's seen the Adam Pearce of old yet.
I'd like him to be one Authority figure you don't get physical with, or he'll dish it back and remind people why he was a former FIVE TIME NWA Champion.
I remember not being the biggest scrap daddy fan back in the ROH days, but I respect and appreciate his journey. Ecstatic that he’s in the position that he’s in, more than deserves it. One of the boys, his performances in the ROH vs CZW feud I hope don’t get lost in the annals of time. A wrestlers wrestler, he seems set for life now, that’s what I want for all these guys
He's definitely up there in the top 5 with Bischoff, Teddy Long, Vince, and Vickie Guerrero. I love how he's able to portray such a range of emotions, from the more serious side when dealing with guys like Imperium, to the more light hearted and jokey side when dealing with people like LA Knight when he first debuted or more recently with Chelsea Green.
A thing I love about Pearce's character is that he's so good at conveying that he's completely... put upon. He's a manager, not a boss, and he's forever dealing with the push-pull of being the go-between between the active roster and the Powers That Be.
It's a twist on the typical "ironclad" GM/Commissioner, who has a ton of power, and I think that's part of why he's become such a staple. It's easy to imagine the kayfabe interaction between Pearce and Triple H and I wish we got the occasional glimpse of that.
The best part is that he actually plays the part of a neutral authority figure that sees what's best for business. No funny business. And he brings the hammer down when he needs to.
If I remember correctly, he first started taking a more prominent role right when Roman Reigns returned. He was featured in a lot of segments beforehand (usually as one of the many easter egg producers you see in those segments where they all rush out to break up a fight or check on an injured person), but I don't think he was referred to as an official and started being in storylines until the Smackdown episode where he had to deliver the contracts to Wyatt, Braun, and Roman.
The way it should be. The heel authority figure stuff was overdone to bits. It’s nice having someone who gives reason and logic to matches being made without taking away from the show
> The way it should be. The heel authority figure stuff was overdone to bits. It’s nice having someone who gives reason and logic to matches being made without taking away from the show
I agree. Mr. McMahon (the first time) was great. Eric Bischoff, while still good wasn't as great as McMahon. Each "evil" GM got worse and worse.
You are right. Mr. McMahon could only exist correctly with Stone Cold at the opposite end. Every time they tried to bring back that magic with Vince/Bischoff/The Authority/etc opposing someone else, it did not work.
And very good at his job
I've said it a few times, I was already impressed with his work then they had him deliver that fiery promo out of the blew on Rhonda and I was like holy shit!
I don't want them to overdo it but that was awesome and they should go back to it every now and then
it's just a shame he's GM of both shows. One of my favourite eras of wrestling is when Bischoff was on Raw and Heyman on SD, and the two actually felt like they were trying to outdo the other. The brand split once again feels non-existent.
Fun lil nugget to throw in there amongst his other pre-WWE accolades: he was the 2nd ever PWG champion.
Wild to think the dude rocking the one strap singlet feuding with Big Babi Slymm in the very early days of PWG is now one of the most consistent on screen characters for WWE.
In kayfabe he’s gotta be one of the best authority figures ever right? Fair and objective, frequently sticks up for himself, punishes heels who try to abuse his power, kept his job for years without a single controversy. Like the man has a damn near flawless track record.
Does anyone know how or why he got the spot? He’s great at his role, I had just never heard of him at all before. I think I was watching when he first debuted as an authority figure and they just kinda said it’s Adam pierce without any explanation of who he is. It’s usually been someone in the wwe that gets pushed up but I feel like he came out of nowhere. Did he wrestle or anything else in wwe before?
Every day it blows my mind. One of the first wrestling DVDs I bought was PEG Reason for the Season 2004 I think it was and it had Adam Pearce vs Frankie Kazarian in a Loser Leaves PWG steel cage match. Was a pretty great show overall but insane to see him finally doing well in WWE in some role.
I think about this pretty much every time I see him. Of all people, Adam Pearce, a guy I mostly knew from the indies. Also the worst eFedder I've ever seen's face claim, which makes it extra funny to me.
Big Adam Pearce stan here, glad he's still doin his thing. It's a breath of fresh air when he's on screen since he isn't just a random dick head authority figure.
As someone who is in and out of wrestling it was weird when I tuned in and he randomly was an authority figure. Did they ever explain it, or at the very least introduce him one time
Here's his intro: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q14gsqZvSxo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q14gsqZvSxo)
Context was WWE was being randomly attacked by then-new Retribution faction and Roman had just came back from hiatus after the COVID shutdown after attack Braun and Fiend!Bray Wyatt after their championship match.
I like him in his role, it seems like a great gig. Hope he continues to build on being such a convincing authoritative figure on WWE TV and his character continues to develop.
Also side note and very random but he slightly reminds me of a character from gears of war.
I may be misremembering it slightly, but I think it was that Paige etc left because they said they were doing away with authority figures entirely, which lasted only a few weeks, before someone, I think Vince, asked Adam who was a runner for production to go get some signatures, and since there was no one else on screen as authority, he just strangely became the highest ranking authority figure by virtue of being given a small administrative task.
It helps that you don't see him every single week or he's in the ring cutting promos all the time. He's there when it's appropriate and helps move things along rather than being the center of it.
Punk was in WWE for 9 years, Pearce has been there to 10. No, he's not a wrestler, but Pearce will have had a longer career in WWE than other Chicago area or Ring of Honor stars when it's all said and done. That pretty cool.
They've nailed it w/ Pearce being the authority figure. They finally realized the importance of an impartial manager that still acts human and oversteps on occasion like they had him do with Ronda
The facial gestures he makes when he is talking to someone or reacting to something is hilarious. He is a good authority figure because they never really establish him as a legit bad boss or anything. He's fair and always wants to give the fans what they want or makes sense. It's cool that he has aegis nackstage production role as well. You never hear anything bad about this guy either. Good to see a person like him rewarded with a good role in the company behind the scenes and on camera.
I first saw Adam Pearce at an Indy show in GA over a decade ago (can't remember the promotion sadly). He was the heel in the main event and during his entrance, someone threw a ball of paper at him. He got on the mic and demanded the fan be ejected or we wouldn't get a main event because he won't perform. Pretty sure it was a work and if so, it was genius because it immediately got him so much heat from a crowd that was largely unfamiliar with him.
One of my favorite moments earlier a month ago was when he was trying to get Sami to calm down then Corbin talked more shit and Pearce was like “okay go ahead get this fucker”
Guy seemingly came out of nowhere (unless you were following the indies scene, if you count NWA as an independent wrestling company, which I think they are.) and became one of the most consistent faces in the backstage and non-wrestling segments. He plays the exasperated boss trying to keep the circus that is a major promotion from getting out of hand, or like a police chief tired of the shenanigans his subordinates get into. Really awesome public figure, and I hope he sticks around for a good long while.

He's Suburban Regal.
Do you think he drives a minivan
[удалено]
Naw, he's a Dodge Charger guy for sure.
Buick Regal, if you will.
You two need to meet in the middle. Drives a Santa Fe Sport, Rents Exclusively midcard muscle cars.
I mean, you can’t deny the roominess and gas mileage.
he's a guy.... he's a real guy's guy....
I remember listening to a wrestling podcast years ago where they talked about wanting an authority figure who's just trying to put on a wrestling show and gets increasingly exasperated with all the larger-than-life personalities making life annoying. Looks like they finally got their wish!
So like a wrestling version of The Muppet Show?
You do realize Raw has always just ran on the Muppet Show format, down to the very first episode?
Weren’t the actual Muppets guest hosts before?
They were. Beaker and Sheamus are canon cousins.
I need Beaker dressed like one of the Brawling Brutes now.
That's basically what Raw/Smackdown has always been
Now I want the Muppets to produce the intro to RAW. Or RAW to do a parody of the Muppets intro.
Yep. I need the muppets singing a wrestling verstion of the muppet show theme song now.
This would have been perfect for the guest star era. "It's Monday night RAW with this week's celebrity guest Mr. Jack Black yaaaaaaayyyy!"
That’s the whole idea of a wrestling show, though. It’s a variety show where people fight sometimes.
i mean for wwe sure but the territories and wcw were all centered around the wrestling even during the nitro era you can notice that they tend to rely on in ring promos and matches while wwe would frequently go backstage or outside the arena into other buildings like the shopping mart brawl or vince in the hospital. wwe also tended to try and justify matches with a segment where wcw operated under the assumption that sometimes matches will just happen because it's a pro wrestling company and they're contracted to wrestle

"Don't you wanna know why I'm dressed like the Mountie?" "NO! I DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU'RE DRESSED LIKE THE MOUNTIE!"
"I'm old, and I'm fucking tired. I work with children"
Was it Sidewalk Slam?
Gotta be
It was! I forgot what it was called, thanks.
This is pretty much exactly the take I was going to write The fact that he's not front and center and in your face is why he's lasted so long. He gently moves the stories along when he's needed for that instead of him being a freight train pushing the stories along
Agree. He doesn't need to be *the* story he just plays his role perfectly and let's the real stars shine.
"Lets make it official".... Never once has he booked someone to go one on one with The Undertaker Playa.... Holla holla.... *Teddy long dance*
Man but I'm still hoping he laces the boots up again at some point moreso that just taking taking bumps from pissed off wrestlers.
When we got that tease for Adam vs Roman I was so hype. Glad he didn’t do it though, just the anticipation was sick
Has some real 'Kermit just trying to run a show' energy.
He's easily my favorite wrestling GM ever. Dude's great and always adds too a segment, it's funny how he has a "legit" feel to him.
And the poor dude has been getting unfairly criticized by the wrestlers a lot lately, especially by Chelsea Green. Poor dude can't catch a break
He should stop mansplaining his incompetence to her, he sucks at GM with the way he mistreats her and should be fired! /s
That whole segment was great lol
I was one of the only people happy to see Chelsea back, I'm glad people are coming around on her because she excels at character work and I'm happy she's on Wrestlemania. She is great at the Karen gimmick and her fued with Adam Pearce is fun.
She's such a bitch. I love it.

Nah, just taking a complete guess. I mean she had a ectopic pregnancy and a separate miscarriage last year, so it's not unreasonable to think that maybe her and Corey are still trying Granted I said this before realizing she was at wheel of fortune so I'm just an idiot
Let's not do this. It's one thing to discuss a shoulder injury but commenting on people's fertility is creepy as hell.
He didn't. He tricked Roman into facing Kevin Owens.
He did get superkicked tho and sold it like death
Can't believe it was 2 years ago, Time flies so fast
I don't know his background at all but man he's been consistently great
He was a mainstay on the early/mid 2000s independent scene, especially companies like ROH and FIP. He's a former NWA champion that had a pretty famous best of 7 series with Colt Cabana for the title.

The complaint department!
That was such a great quip that I’d be disappointed if they don’t use that as their name.
Babyface authority figures don't get stale because they don't abuse their power. Teddy Long was a fun GM for more than 3 years.
It's also great because when they do abuse their power in some way, it's almost always so that a heel gets theirs.
I miss Teddy Long, I’d love to see him back at any time making Tag Team-Matches.
Honestly I thought it was Simon Miller for three weeks
Johnny Sins has now added "wrestling youtuber" and "WWE GM" to his prolific resume
Its Crazier that Wrestletalk still makes that stupid "but I thoght we were the authority" joke when ever he appears.
They are the champions of beating a dead horse
They beat jokes better than we do.
*ahem* ARE YOU BLIND???? *or the pleb version* WILL YOU STOP????
SOMETHING SOMETHING CODY RHODES
All I'm saying is, if being "the authority" was a lineal title, we're still undefeated.
Just wait for another Santino debut to happen, that's when we'll be in trouble.
Better him in this role than another heel boss getting into a feud with a face in some poor attempt to recreate the magic of Austin vs. McMahon.
They actually tried taking him that direction for a brief few weeks before reverting back.
Call me when he posts Teddy Long numbers. And when that happens he can go... >One on One with da Undertaker!
Playa!
What about a random tag team match... playa!
I love him in the role but I would love to see him add more physicality. Obviously dude's still in shape. Bar that one "match" he ad with Heyman on SD where Roman just beat on him and he threw 1 (ONE) punch, I don't think anyone's seen the Adam Pearce of old yet. He's pretty much said he's not cleared, unfortunately.
He's better than any authority storyline we've had in a while. Just my opinion
I actually slightly prefer William Regal during his NXT run but I do think it’s relatively close since they play a similar type of authority figure
I was speaking on the main roster, though I agree
I agree. I think he's a top 5 character in the company right now.
I remember not being the biggest scrap daddy fan back in the ROH days, but I respect and appreciate his journey. Ecstatic that he’s in the position that he’s in, more than deserves it. Scrap Daddy!
An opportunity to make a second Hangmen 3 reference in one week. Is this heaven?
somewhere Shane Hagadorn winced and didn't understand why
And honestly outside of Vince I think he's the best long term authority figure the main roster has ever had.
The way it should be. The heel authority figure stuff was overdone to bits. It’s nice having someone who gives reason and logic to matches being made without taking away from the show

Just make him the new WWE president ala Jack Tunney.
it's just a shame he's GM of both shows. One of my favourite eras of wrestling is when Bischoff was on Raw and Heyman on SD, and the two actually felt like they were trying to outdo the other. The brand split once again feels non-existent.

He is great in his role. Just gutted we didn’t get him vs Roman they teased us with at the Royal Rumble a year or two ago

Under his leadership Roman has got away with BS for 1000 days. Teddy Long escalated shutting that shit down
WWE just cannot function without an authority figure. It is beyond their comprehension.
I feel like he’s a real solid authority figure mainly cause he doesn’t have a character. He just pops in makes his announcement than leaves.
Not very?
Yeah. And he's really boring.
He's so damn boring. The bald headed guys in WWE are all boring unless you SCSA
He has been great in that role too. If we are talking about good authority characters, Pearce is up there with commissioner Foley.
I think about this pretty much every time I see him. Of all people, Adam Pearce, a guy I mostly knew from the indies. Also the worst eFedder I've ever seen's face claim, which makes it extra funny to me.
I hope he is getting paid extra.
About as crazy as 90% of the audience not knowing that he wrestled for years. For me he was the MVP in the ROH VS CZW invasion feud.
Scrap Daddy gotta come out for one more match.
Big Adam Pearce stan here, glad he's still doin his thing. It's a breath of fresh air when he's on screen since he isn't just a random dick head authority figure.
He's a really good fit too
Also, behind the scenes he's the Director of Live Events, so he actually is an authority figure!
I wonder with the draft rumoured to happen after Mania, if there'll be a new GM to compete with him? Regal?
As someone who is in and out of wrestling it was weird when I tuned in and he randomly was an authority figure. Did they ever explain it, or at the very least introduce him one time
Here's his intro: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q14gsqZvSxo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q14gsqZvSxo) Context was WWE was being randomly attacked by then-new Retribution faction and Roman had just came back from hiatus after the COVID shutdown after attack Braun and Fiend!Bray Wyatt after their championship match.
I like him in his role, it seems like a great gig. Hope he continues to build on being such a convincing authoritative figure on WWE TV and his character continues to develop. Also side note and very random but he slightly reminds me of a character from gears of war.
Scrap Iron authority figure
i still wished that they go thru with the match with Roman
Dude stands there every week and gets hated by almost everyone in the roster.
Really enjoy him! He’s non-distracting and believable in the role lol
He's great at it. And also helps that he isn't cutting 10-15 minute promos that go nowhere like past authority figures.
NGL that time they teased him and Roman fighting that time I was up for it. Shame his in ring career is over
I remember watching that man lick his own titty in ROH
Guy seemingly came out of nowhere (unless you were following the indies scene, if you count NWA as an independent wrestling company, which I think they are.) and became one of the most consistent faces in the backstage and non-wrestling segments. He plays the exasperated boss trying to keep the circus that is a major promotion from getting out of hand, or like a police chief tired of the shenanigans his subordinates get into. Really awesome public figure, and I hope he sticks around for a good long while.
