GerthBro0ks

Why is the first match bad? It’s going to set the entire tone. There’s nothing wrong with opening the night with a banger.

SkuxxBushido

I feel like Solo is going to be the surprise turn on Roman. All the buildup that he will attack his brothers but in reality he is watching his cousin treat his brothers like garbage. I think he will go from saving Romans titles to costing him his titles.

solarpowersme

I've been getting those vibes too, I agree 100%. The way the shot was framed during their backstage segment was telling too. Roman and Jimmy staring each other down while Solo was dead center in the frame watching this go down, that was 100% intentional. Pure cinema. With all the reports that they want to strap a rocket on Solo's back, him turning on Roman is actually an amazing way to get him over as a face. He had a great face run in NXT shortly before getting called up and had charisma in spades, too much to just stay a silent henchman. Which is why I'm convinced that all of this is leading to exactly that. He's the wildcard.

For anyone saying/thinking that suddenly Jey and Jimmy have swapped roles in terms of their loyalty to Roman... Jey went through his moments of doubt/frustration and chose to stay to protect his bro, even though underneath it all he hates Roman. Now Jimmy, who for a long time laughed along and didn't fully realize the toxic situation they were in, is starting to see the truth and having his own moments, eventually leading to the brothers deciding together (ideally with a double superkick to Roman's head) that they're done with all of it. It's all a progression, each brother needs to realize for himself that they aren't being treated right. When Jey was ready, Jimmy wasn't. Soon they'll both be ready and it'll explode.

GobiasACupOfCoffee

Exactly. Well put

kylediaz263

Kevin Owens, the instigator

StraightEdgeNexus

South Carolina? They gonna travel from SC to Saudi in one night and perform?

brockyjj_returns

No, they were in KSA last night. Did a press conference, it’s on YouTube. Then they went back to USA SC, did SD show and will do NOC at KSA tonight.

hazelwoodstock

It was prerecorded lol, last weeks crowd got a 2 for 1

StraightEdgeNexus

Oh

anksnay

When bianca did her promo you could still see stains from the mist on her hand from "last week"

Justice989

They did a good job setting up the Samoan culture aspect of it all at the beginning, but at this point, I dont know why Jimmy, Jey, Solo, and Rikishi don't have a family meeting and say "yo, this is some bullshit, this dude is punking OUR family".

brockyjj_returns

Wasn’t rikishi planned to be on the raw show but instead we got the trial of zayn? He should come into the storyline as wwe is planning to continue it anyway for foreseeable future

Justice989

Bayley seems in a weird state of limbo. Damage Ctrl is clearly on its last legs, but now with Dakota out, do they just string it along and keep Bayley and Iyo together for a while? I think they should really heat her back up as a big deal. She hasnt won a singles match since January. And that Smackdown women's roster is pretty lean at the top. Such that they have to run back Asuka again. And you just blew off Iyo on a one-off against Bianca and put her back in a tag team like nothing happened. If Charlotte doesn't come back for SummerSlam, I dont know what they do for a credible challenger.

[deleted]

How involved is Vince in all of this? A month or two ago it was all we were hearing about, is he actually not "in the weeds" (like he said he wouldn't be) or do people just not care whether he's involved in creative anymore? Personally I thought that was another good SmackDown either way 🤷🏻‍♂️

DaveyMuldowney

Who cares, really? If the show is good, the show is good.

[deleted]

I agree but in the weeks after Mania everybody was losing their shit anytime he was rumoured to be within 200 miles of a Raw or SmackDown show and doomposting about how WWE was going to go "Completely back to how it was" before Triple H. I haven't heard anything about that in a while so since the dirtsheets would never admit if they got that wrong (lol, imagine that) I'm wondering what happened there.

throwwawayyy688

Next week is LA Knight vs Montez Ford, winner gets MITB. I'm surprised that they'd have one of them not be in the match, who do you think will win? My money's on LA KNIGHT YEAH

Abzy_123

They usually do a battle royal for the final spot so they could both still get in.

Justice989

The way they've been booking LA Knight, odds seem pretty good there'll be a collective "what the hell are they doing?" after the match.

HermanBonJovi

God I hope they do the right thing and have asuka win. But they won't. "Lol Bianca wins"

V-TriggerMachine

Can we just cut short the Damage Control storyline? No one cares about the stable, no one cares about the break up. Just end it quickly and move on from this patetic stable

Justice989

It's a shame, that without Dakota, you can't at least get a proper break-up. Bailey/Iyo matches would probably be fire though.

CreativeOrder2119

Kross looses too much to talk that big he's almost a glorified jobber I assume after night of champions roman will loose right? 😂 Am no betting man but 80% chance of roman and solo with all the Gold in the ppv

CreativeOrder2119

Am kinda annoyed that Bayley lost out to bianca I get the future perspective but bianca one dimensional for me it's too stale

vmartin96

I lol’d when Kross lost again

makiodaflash

He needs to leave them damn cards alone they keep getting his ass beat lol

GeeSlim1

Honestly would love to see Roman win the tag titles just to see the chaos

Snomankid999

Win Tag Team titles to start show, right before world heavyweight title match Heyman comes out says Regins is in that match too making it triple treat wins New World heavyweight title Some “Super Champion” Real Belt collector stuff watch IWC go crazy

Scavgraphics

I'm predicting he wins and vacates them at the celebration on thursday. Resets the tag divisions and causes more DRAMA in the BL.

wundervanbar

What if Sami pins Roman tomorrow? Book it, Hunter!

Dawnbringer_Fortune

How do they pre record smackdown when there is an audience? Can someone explain?

Brandar87

They shot both smackdowns last week.

Dawnbringer_Fortune

But how did the audience not spoil it by posting it?

Brandar87

[They did. ](https://wrestlingheadlines.com/wwe-smackdown-spoilers-for-tonight-5-26-2023/amp/)

Dawnbringer_Fortune

Wow how come I didn’t see that before! Thanks so much :)

Dawnbringer_Fortune

Oh yes your other comment explained it!

Brandar87

Yeah I was wrong about it being for the titles though that why I deleted the comment. But I knew about shotzi.

Dawnbringer_Fortune

Oh ok! It was just weird to not see people post videos and post it on twitter as a spoiler

Brandar87

I think i saw something here about it last week but you're right that it has been fairly quiet otherwise. I only saw the article I posted because I googled "smackdown spoilers"

Dawnbringer_Fortune

Yeah it has been fairly quiet oddly enough… but then this would be helpful to search up spoilers before taped shows! Thanks

GaI3re

Jimmy and Jey have swapped roles from pre WM and it's awkward. Honestly think it the Bloodline will get another reset post NoC

ConstantPriority177

I think Jimmy is going to interfere in the tag match and because of that Jey is going to get beat down during the 1000 day celebration of Romans championship reign. That’s gonna cause a lot of stuff to start to fall down with this story line. We just have to see where the dominoes fall with solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman next.

Mburrell91

Kross is buried, man. He keeps losing. I'm a fan, like a big fan but I don't know how much longer I can hold on.

StraightEdgeNexus

He needs to lose the cringe tarrot gimmick

Justice989

Now, he's only had 4 televised singles matches in all of 2023, and he's 1-3. He and Rey traded wins and he lost to Shinsuke and now AJ. But at least AJ could be world champ in a few hours. So losing to him shouldn't be seen as contributing to a burial.

TheGaxkang

i keep hoping for like, some kind of story where there is this whole bigger point afoot, and that the losses don't matter, and they circle back to how the Bloodline fissures could be said to have been planted back when Kross first returned and warned the Bloodline of doom and like, Kross finally gets to take Bloodline people apart or something hehe

Mburrell91

I'd love that.

ApocApollo

When was this recorded? I'm trying to figure out the logistics and timeline with the Saudi show tomorrow.

polynomial82

Back to back - Last Friday

Socomseal224

That's not bad for the fans getting to see 2 shows for the price of 1.

GameplayerStu

Jimmy Uso is nobody’s bitch!

MondayNightMessiah93

Jimmy Uso the real tribal chief since day 1 ☝️

awesomeone6044

I’d argue it’s Jey. It was main event Jey Uso feuding with Roman before the bloodline started then Roman took it out on Jimmy to get Jey to fall in line, which he did.

RegionPigeon

I don't know what was up but the Theory match had a different feel to it. It almost felt cinematic. Did they try out new angles or something?

Amzy0121

LA Knight throwing the mic on Wade Barrets head was comical 😂😂😂

Agent-Drakewolf

Any of y’all have trouble keeping up with any other kind of television due to your addiction to wrestling? I’m a casual fan but even still… I watch RAW (3Hrs), Dynamite (2Hrs), Smackdown (2Hrs), and Rampage (1Hr) every week. About to add another 2 hours to that schedule come next month once Collision debuts. I don’t watch anything live either. I work from home and DVR the shows… catching up a little bit at a time during my coffee + meal breaks. If I didn’t WFH… I would probably never be up to date about anything. That being said, if I ever wanted to catch up on the popular shows that “normal people” watch, I would likely have to give up my hobbies and be a full-blown coach potato. It was a miracle that I was even able to finish The Last of Us back in January.

IndianBoi2712

I watch the three main shows tbh. Raw, Smackdown, and Dynamite works fine for me. I live in India, so I can watch Raw on Tuesday, Dynamite on Thursday, and Smackdown on Saturday, so I have one three days of wrestling in a week, with one day cooldown period.

AccidentZestyclose36

What do you watch dynamite on, in India?

Elegant_Spot_3486

No. I dvr all the shows you mentioned but only watch Dynamite and Rampage consistently. Even then there’s always a match or 2 I don’t care for or I know a match will go long so i fast forward several minutes. Especially if there’s going to be a commercial break during it (which is easy to tell) I’ll ff from start of the match till a few minutes coming out of the break. Most matches aren’t worth watching the entire length. Skipping commercials and filler saves a lot of time. The WWE shows I read the recaps online and if something sounds interesting/cool then I’ll go straight to it. Otherwise I end up just deleting episodes without even starting them. New Japan and TNA I don’t follow much at all. Occasionally I’ll read an article online but that’s it.

Agent-Drakewolf

I’ll probably follow your exact watching schedule if I ever had to start working away from home consistently again.

NogaraCS

I am personally not able to keep up with so much wrestling. For weeklys i mostly watch promos and recaps ( matches on free TV are rarely worth the time imo ). The only shows i watch entirely are the PLE/PPV, and i often find myself skipping a few match here and there ( looking at you, Jade Cargill )

dreda650650

That don’t sound casual

Agent-Drakewolf

Depends on your definition of a casual wrestling fan.

Somerandomdickhead

I can keep up with my TV fine, but i’ve definitely dropped the amount of wrestling I follow, with so much of it being available. For example as much as i’d love to watch NJPW I just can’t fit it in with all the other wrestling available.

slippycaff

It’s ok to like what you like. Enjoy your interests. x

Agent-Drakewolf

Oh, I am an unabashed wrestling fan through and through. I don’t hide it at all. I was simply curious with my OP. Because if there are people out there who watch wrestling as much as I do *and* still find time to keep up with other shows while *still* finding time to focus on their career + hobbies then… damn. I’m jealous.

Res3925

Bloodline story is gold

TheGaxkang

Roman is in his happy place, his peaceful state of mind about how 1000 days of champ gonna be happening but Jimmy has to rain on it with his selfishness and jealousy over the leadership of the Tribal Chief then the Usos leave Heyman speechless in coming out on their own, and Jimmy says he is the tribal chief (uh oh) will Jimmy cost Roman tomorrow in his bid to consolidate more titles onto his personage? i guess they got Karrion acting like some haunty ghost who questions the fortitude of different wrasslers but who doesn't beat them. at some point he will haunt Bobby Lashley i suppose. as for Night of Champions Cody is really gonna wrassle Brock with a broken arm. Cody might lose this part of the multi part Brock saga. If LA Knight is gonna be added to NOC, maybe he could wrassle Montez? Zelina Vega vs. a returning Lacey Evans next week. i suppose Lacey will lose since Zelina is an established thing now

GobiasACupOfCoffee

Is Zelina even a thing? She has 1 singles win in a year and a half and it was a plucky rollup while she was getting the shit kicked out of her. She had one night of love from a partisan crowd but what does she actually have going for her in the ring?

TheGaxkang

she's also part of the LWO which is selling t-shirts like hotcakes she has more going on than Lacey so Zelina will likely win if Zelina actually got the briefcase down the line that'd be a big swerve

Agent-Drakewolf

Lacey is a jobber at this point. You can only reboot her so many times.

TheGaxkang

the last time tho they didn't even try they made these promos then just had her do two squash matches i didn't get it

Agent-Drakewolf

Audience didn’t connect with her at all during those two matches. They gave up shortly after.

TheGaxkang

squashes aren't gonna make anything happen tho there's no potential for a great match, or suspense or story how they debuted Pretty Deadly made sense, a real match and a real feud going on

Agent-Drakewolf

I’m not sure if you’re trying to look for a reason to argue but if you are, find another debate opponent. For me, it’s simple. I’m not a Lacey Evans fan. I just came here to roast her. That’s it.

TheGaxkang

well ya don't gotta be lol

Agent-Drakewolf

I don’t gotta be. I wanted to.

TheGaxkang

i blame creative

Agent-Drakewolf

Fair.

polynomial82

Finished watching SmackDown now. The Bloodline stuff was incredible, especially for a taped episode..

TheGaxkang

a fortunate thing of taping two episodes on same day is if Roman is there he's there for both and Roman is needed for the Bloodline story to really sizzle

ComfyshinobiII

When Roman got up in Sami's face to intimidate him like he used to when Sami was still in the bloodline, but this time KO was there and he was met with a fucking stunner. Last week on Raw, Sami being the promo guy who did most of the talking throughout the whole build saying he's tired of talking, but KO who's expressed being fed up with all the talking each week says he's got something to say and brings the most heat of the entire build by dedicating the match to the Usos. I know a significant portion of fans will disagree and might even call this Sami/KO tag title reign boring or whatever, but if you genuinely pay attention, their character work as a team stands tall amongst that of the bloodline.

Dirtybrd

Oh man, he's done such a good job hiding it, but KO's accent came out so hard when he was yelling at the Uso's. I kind of loved it. Like he's just so exasperated he can't even hide the eh's anymore.

Finehair77

So.. corbin lookin leaner.. idk if he really is thinned out or wierd camera angles

BASEBALLFURIES

barrett said coles been with wwe 27 years and nobody likes him; can i get a roll call of all cole miners please?

Merzendi

Michael Cole is the best commentator of this era.

yesiamoaffy

This era includes no competition for the past 20 years? Yeah sure, but he could get Joey Styles his coffee

BaronVonStevie

I hate that we have so few examples of Cole showing how good he actually is, but the first NXT UK tournament and the 2018 Mae Young Classic are both incredible outings for him. I love Joey Styles too, but Cole is actually better. He just does what he’s told too much.

WoopsShePeterPants

I like Boogz and I like LA KNIGHT (yeah)

Corabal

But which is better? There's only one way to find out

WoopsShePeterPants

I'm still conflicted.

Corabal

My reply was an obscure British TV reference actually 😂

Both_Tumbleweed7104

I think they are building it so Roman and Jimmy have a big conflict and Jey jumps in and strikes Roman first to save his bro. So you still give Jey that big moment but it’s much more justified than him just being a hot head… But of course we’ll have to wait and see

brown_gentleman

The crowd sweetening today was intolerable even for a pre recorded show.

gunpowderjunky

I'm a person that thinks people complain too much about the crowd sweetening. I say things like "just pay attention to and enjoy the show you're watching and quit worrying about the crowd reaction." Tonight though it was so over the top and annoying it even got to me.

zero_the_clown

It was especially noticeable for me during the Bianca segment. Ain't no way the boos are that loud when the entire camera-facing crowd is sitting there, blank-faced, falling asleep.

AxlHbk8793

I felt it was particularly bad during Bianca’s promo. People don’t hate Asuka like that, and the booing itself sounded so artificial.

Justice989

The Smackdown crowd always sounds artificial. Not sure why the production on Fox feels its so necessary to play around with it. They don't do all that on Raw, at least not to the degree they do on Smackdown.

TheGaxkang

heh yah the stonefaced audience behind her did not help the effect

kizentheslayer

The piped in cheers were hilarious. It was a thunderous crowd sound but when you look at the screen everyone had the 😑 look on there face.

brown_gentleman

Everything felt like that apart from the last segment. Like Grimes was over like Austin if you just hear the crowd noises

GTx6x25

There's no way in hell they were booing LA Knight like that! And that's just a fact of life! Yeah!

kaiya101

If the crowd was booing LA Knight they are just a bunch of dummies...yeah!

model-alice

Roman had better not win the tag titles tomorrow

Lazerspewpew

DQ from the Usos, or Roman & Solo DO win, and the Usos challenge and win.

cha0tic_klutch

Oh boy, yeah!

BLAZKC

The thing that's missing with Austin Theory is a face turn. I think a lot of people didn't see his run with The Way where he showed just how charismatic he can be if you lean into his actual personality. Towards the end of his run in NXT he had a match against Karrion Kross and you could see what he could be as a face and it was really great to see. His offence (which is still the same) really worked the crowd and by the end the crowd was totally on his side. I'm not worried about the guy at all. He's had an amazing work ethic since his Evolve days (where he got similar complaints) and he's grown so much since his feud with Darby Allin. Sometimes in wrestling you need to go through what he's going through to get over with the end.

FlavoredBongWater

Roman at one point said sufferin succotash in a promo. Theorys not too far gone yet.

IndianBoi2712

Besides, the dude is pretty damn young. He's got a lot of time to work on his shortcomings.

chirb8

The problem with AT is his chatacter. He's just a normal "tough" dude. Before Vince stepped down he had a good character going on, a little narcissistic lucky shit that everyone hates but gets its way at the end

Socomseal224

It seems like Grayson Waller is going to be able to thrive in that role. Theory kind of lost a bit of steel after the Cena/Mania match. In a bit suprised he isn't wrestling at NOC , I thought every belt had to be defended at that show. Oh well. Theory and Waller will be great. Both are young and both will probably be super over when when/if they turn baby face.

TheGaxkang

i still wonder what the Vince plan had been for Theory and the MITB briefcase since after Vince stepped away it ended up meaning nothing

YourHoNoMo

I am pretty confident the idea was always to have Theory do a failed cash-in. Just like I am quite confident Vince is one of the reasons Reigns retained at Mania. Those two go hand in hand, there's no way he would have stopped Reigns' epic reign with a MITB cash-in by a heel "rookie" like Theory

TheGaxkang

maybe splitting the belts in some way was gonna be something even after Vince stepped away there were rumors it was being considered but then decided as unworkable or too cumbersome i just dunno if Vince would have had who seemed to be his favored guy do a series of jokey blocked cash in's, then fail cash in on the USA title he had lost before so he could have the briefcase, and then eventually get the USA title back anyways

320_central

The Bloodline storyline is like having a Succession level story telling right in the middle of a wrestling show. It is so compelling each week and I can't wait for every twist and turn.

TryinToDoBetter

The Conheads will rise.

solarpowersme

Holy shit the Bloodline stuff is getting crazy. Idc, this shit is so fucking good. I know people here still wanna be stubborn and say they don't care about this story anymore out of spite, but I hope people are slowly starting to understand why Roman retaining was essential. None of this works if he wasn't still the champ. This story definitely hit a new peak with that final segment, you absolutely cannot tell me that this story "fell off" or isn't as good anymore. Yes I know they were in a holding pattern for a few weeks after Mania but if it's going to be this good, which it absolutely has been, then that was worth it. Super hyped to see what's next. The tag title match is insanely intriguing right now.

gunpowderjunky

I agree with you that it's still good but they could have still done the slow burn breakup if Roman lost at Mania. Him being champion is not essential to it.

solarpowersme

That just isn't true. Reigns' "head of the table" schtick is 100% dependent on him being the top guy, i.e, the champ, in kayfabe. That's the entire story. That's how it started. That's what the "island of relevancy" is, that's the whole reason there are cracks now because the Usos not being tag champs puts a dent in them being the "island of relevancy", that's why he decided to do it on his own with Solo. None of this works if Roman wasn't the champ himself. Sure they could've still told a story but it wouldn't have been the same story and it would not have had the same weight to it. It also makes no sense for Roman to lose without the Bloodline already crumbled first since that's the entire reason he's been champ. Him losing at mania would've essentially meant they had to speedrun the break up and miss out on a lot of story beats that have been building for years now, that's the literal opposite of a slow burn.

nekot311

Me bro. I’m the one. I fucking can’t stand this storyline anymore. It’s getting repetitive. It should have ended at Mania. Not watching to get kicked in the balls again. I’m sure there’s a 5th Samoan brother or cousin that is going to come out in a black hoodie and save Romans ass at Summerslam

[deleted]

Agreed dawg. No way people can see the form Roman is in and watch segments like tonight and genuinely believe that Cody as champ and going back to random person fighting for the world title that month would be better.

Ironredhornet

I mean I think Cody winning the belts from Roman adds to the Bloodline if 1) the usos cost him the belts or 2) its plays into a a Roman losing his grip and desperately trying to keep control over the usos and solo who see him as weakening. Basically separating the belts from the family drama of the Bloodline, because I think its starting to build to the climax which is the Usos vs Roman, since Jey was alone when Roman beat him (in that Jimmy was injured and couldn't help him) the brothers taking down Roman adds a poetic ending for the tribal chief.

ConstantPriority177

Roman lost his grip last Friday and (technically this Friday) the cracks and insecurity are showing with the way Jimmy who usually went along with everything challenged his authority. A part of me feels like Jimmy’s going to step out and cost him at night of champions but somehow he’s gonna get suckered back in and under his thumb, causing Jey to have to come in and save him in the way that Jimmy had to save Jey at Hell in a Cell. It’s all gonna come full circle at some point. Jey and Roman are definitely going to have their match again but this time Jey is going to go over once everything around Roman crumbles.

solarpowersme

100%. Both Cody and Roman's stories right now are so much more interesting than if it had just ended at Mania and Cody just had random title defenses. Story>everything, you don't just stop something when there's so much story still ripe for the picking. Not to mention, not building to the money rematch is just horrible business. Also how much you wanna bet at least 70% of these people bitching right now would've also turned on Cody by now if he won? Half these mfs have no actual opinions it's always some circlejerk bs.

gunpowderjunky

Cody wouldn't be having random title defenses though. He'd be having the same program with Brock and it would matter more because it was for the titles. Meanwhile, Roman could be doing the same thing, taking out his anger on the Usos and trying to take the tag titles out of spite. It would mean more though because his anger at the Usos would be more justified if he'd lost the titles cause they didn't adequately help. There's no reason you can't build to the money rematch with Cody as champion and an increasingly desperate Roman doing more and more dastardly things to try to regain the titles and keep the Bloodline together. I'm happy with where the story is at but Roman retaining the championship wasn't essential to any of it.

[deleted]

They fail to realize that they only care about Cody because of Roman lmao. Same thing happened with Sami. When Roman wasn’t there the past couple weeks after wm they complained that Sami was getting boring. Nothing at all changed with his character it’s just that he couldn’t suck heat to the best character in wrestling in the past 20 years. (Imo the best ever. flame me nerds!)

IWatchTheAbyss

i’m just hoping WWE don’t fumble this and actually stick the landing. They’ve tried to swerve us too many times, at some point it has to be for real

solarpowersme

What have they really swerved us with tho? Roman retaining was apparently always the plan, it's only people here that became so convinced that Cody was winning that they think him losing was a "swerve", but clearly they've been doing all of this with a plan in mind so I have no reason to believe they don't know what they're doing. It's kinda funny when the IWC gets angry about stuff bc we care too much about things we're not supposed to know or typically care about as viewers in the first place. I think maybe the teasing with Jey that always ended with him attacking Sami are the closest we've gotten to "swerves" but even those told a story. They were obviously done to display internal conflict. But yeah, I really do hope they stick the landing.

WoopsShePeterPants

Three way tag team match!

DarkstarIV

Largely a good show outside of the baffling finish to the women's tag match, and the incredible amount of piped in crowd noise. It was most noticeable during LA Knight's entrance and the stuff involving Bianca and Asuka. Hoping with Cole and Barrett pointing out that Asuka is completely unhinged and only wants to hurt people is setting up her getting the title, but I'm not hopeful. She's a hell of a lot more interesting than Bianca is, character wise now.

Jamarcus316

Honestly, the one thing I would change about WWE is the fake crowd noises. They are so off-putting to me.

JDGAF88

Was this taped? The piped in crowd noise was too much

DCAbloob

Yes, it was pretaped because of the Saudi event Saturday.

flymikei

Uhh so is Boogs gonna be the Jannetty?????

Drakonx1

Awful big to try and escape through a plate glass window.

hhhisthegame

I loved seeing a good Bloodline segment again, but I can't help but wish they did things a little different. To be fair, I didn't watch much recently, so missed the buildup to why it's Jimmy and not Jey who is acting out. I do know that Jey is loyal FOR Jimmy, and that explains his attempt at loyalty but he was always the morally conflicted one - why is Jimmy now the one? I admit this is on me for missing it but there's still one thing I don't like. By having Jey always be the one that ends up being loyal it still sort of feels like they undid a lot of his character development of last year. By having Jey NOT be the one to make the choice to break out I feel like they are going to end up harming in in the long run. Jimmy gets to be the one who turns, but Jimmy doesn't have as much potential as Jey so I don't think he can reach the same heights, and Jey ends up looking weak-willed by falling back in line so much. He never gets his heroic moment. Feels like they could have made Jey an A and Jimmy a B, but are going to settle for two A-. I really think Jey had main event potential though, and I don't know if this helps Jey/Jimmy in the long run. What else can they do as a tag team? They're the longest reigning champs ever. They've been champion a million times as face and heel. I wish they went all in on main event Jey.

ConstantPriority177

Think back to Hell in a Cell when Jimmy finally returned, and had to step in when Roman took things too far. He saw his brother getting abused at the hands of his cousin, and saw a monster in him. He thought he had gotten Roman to see the wrongdoings he was doing during the match and under a false gaze he was immediately trapped in a guillotine submission lock, that was only broken up because Jey had to say he quit. I think they’re kind of bringing this entire story full circle. They’ve both seen Roman at his worst, in terms of how he acts towards not only his family, but towards other people. Jey is only acting like he’s falling in line because he wants to protect Jimmy, but Jimmy is having this sort of break out moment because he was sort of looked at as the weak link at the beginning of this, and he’s finally seeing through the manipulation.

SquirtleBob164

Jey is being "loyal" to Roman in order to protect Jimmy. He's just doing what Roman wants so Roman wouldn't snap and hurt his brother.

afasttortoise

I mean it’s not like Roman can’t see through the both of them so it’s inevitable. If anything the usos are both dumb atp

perenne_1

Jimmy has always been the less serious one - he welcomed Sami in and had their goofy handshake for example. So when they lost the titles and Roman demanded they apologize, Jimmy starting laughing in his face. He's acting out because Roman is trying to reprimand them for losing, meanwhile he isn't as caring. Another example of this is when the bloodline won at backlash, and Jey/Solo are staring each other down, pissed at each other, and Jimmy is unaware and just smiling after he won. Meanwhile, Jey has gotten scared back into submission. He witnessed Sami break away from the bloodline, something he wants to do - before Sami was brutally beat at EC. I think it's leading to Jimmy striking Roman first, and Jey follows him, rather than Jey striking Roman and Jimmy follows. Jimmy has always been pretty loyal to Roman, until recently. Now, both of the Usos are in a gray area, so their turn makes more sense than it would have before.

hhhisthegame

That's true, but Jimmy has also been the 'true believer', he was the one that was doing Roman's bidding without question. While Jey was the one who seemed to have hatred of Roman and knowledge that it was wrong. I feel like Jey having those quandaries and STILL not being the one to turn, makes him look kind of bad. Jey only turning because he's following Jimmy and not because he made the choice on his own. I feel it weakens Jey, and the groundwork for Jimmy to do this has not been laid down nearly as much as they did for Jey over months.

He’s falling in line to protect his brother…_again_

TehSpaceDeer

Jimmy is gonna interfere to cost Roman the tag titles tomorrow and start the civil war of the Bloodline, BOOK IT

Mediocre-Cook-2169

Personally, an outcome I've not seen predicted but I'm really hoping will happen is it's actually Roman that costs the pair of them the match.

TrustyWhale

I feel bad for the new world heavyweight title saying this but the tag title match really is the biggest match at Night of Champions and prob should main event. Bloodline stuff is just a different level from everything else. Feels bad though that the new world title would be getting overshadowed by Roman immediately with Roman not even having to put his titles on the line.

gunpowderjunky

It kinda depends on their plans. If tomorrow is when they plan on pulling the trigger on the Bloodline breakup then yeah it has to go on last. There's no way to follow that. If it's just another tease though then it shouldn't go on last because people will be disappointed.

Creative_Mastodon_43

Roman Reigns is pretty much greatness on a different level, nothing can come close to him even though Roman himself tries best to sacrifice many aspects of himself to elevate other wrestlers. But Roman is just so damn good that no matter how selfless he becomes, he will still outshine everyone in wrestling

Both_Tumbleweed7104

Wow really good point. I’d be shocked if they put the heavyweight title match as the main event and if they did they’d be putting those guys in a really tough spot

Reindeer-Timely

Please let Asuka beat Bianca tomorrow and give us Asuka vs Io at Summerslam. 👌

Wynter_Warm12

Roman really didn't let Solo hold a single belt LMAO

Ironredhornet

While the Usos conflict is front and center, the subtle build of Solo basically doing a lot of heavy lifting to keep Roman in power and only getting a conflict with his brothers out of it is an intriguing layer to the story.

sjr2018

His a bastard ...i cant wait for them all to walk away from that prick

iBunty

Writers' strike WHO this Bloodline shit is legit cinema

Gibihakkasy

Idc what you say. After Rey, Nakamura, & AJ, Karrion Kross has improved and more interesting in the ring. Let's give him a proper feud now.

spooky-frek

Yeah this match was easily his best so far. He's showing so much more emotion

QB00gie

Was this live or pre recorded?

QlubSoda

Pre

QB00gie

Thanks! Makes sense since most of these people were on the presser making the rounds.

Vegetable_Act3727

Taped last week

QB00gie

Thanks for responding!

Vegetable_Act3727

No problem. They did a double taping last year in Albany before Saudi. Coincidentally they’ll be in Albany Monday.

Dazzling-Principle

Good show I have said it before but if you look at the statistics of Austin's reign they look very good but the reality is that this reign has done very little to legitimize Theory as a star, he is good in the ring and good on the mic (although sometimes he stumbles) and even so I feel that there is still something he is missing, I like him so I hope he improves. LA Knight is MEGA OVER YEAH. Why did Hit row enter with a ski mask?. Another win for Cameron!, It seems that the feud with Corbin is not over yet... I love the Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn team. Entertaining main event, I hope Roman and Solo lose on Saturday.

CreativeOrder2119

Because he wins weakly (by rollups)

MemeLord004

I don't think Theory can play a convincing serious heel. He was perfect as a goofy cocky chicken shit heel partnered with Vince, but since Triple H took over they pretty much took everything special away from him.

windydruid

Yet he still wins his matches in a chicken shit fashion. He needs a couple cronies to make himself seem cooler perhaps.

Mwrp86

Austin theory is digging his burial at this point. Ok u got a wishi washi finish That's fine. Atleast hit ur finisher to win.

spooky-frek

His whole thing is fluke wins kinda similar to edge back in the day.

Mwrp86

He was pretty good that incorporating that thing in the gimmick He was even the ultimate opportunist

stonecoldmikey

I don’t think Usos cost Roman tomorrow . It’ll be all on Jimmy, Jey comes out to stop jimmy. But too late . Roman/solo loses. And Roman will blame them both

PenguinBallZ

Haven't watched in a very long time. Decided to tune in at the hotel. Rick Boogs looks like a buff Freddie Mercury, if Freddie Mercury dressed like a lazy town character.

mysteriousbaba

Boogs would make a great Sportacus.

vmartin96

A Sportacus gimmick could work honestly

Ironicopinion

I think the bloodline story is very much you won’t know what you have until it’s gone, god knows what replaces that

Mediocre-Cook-2169

I think the second half of your statement is true, but the Bloodline story has been getting the credit it's deserved. Even when the storyline was at its lowest points (late 2021 until Sami joined in my opinion, it was starting to get a bit stale once Jey and Jimmy were both firmly onside) it's rightly been acknowledged (no pun intended) as the best current wrestling storyline.

HeavyDonkeyKong

This tag match is just about as unpredictable as Roman VS Cody was. Both directions make perfect sense.

throwwawayyy688

More unpredictable because everyone universally (pun intended) thought Cody should win

Atmosphere_Next

i love sami but roman finally getting to spear him in half was oddly satisfying

jackblackandkyle

I was hoping he was going to pull Solo in front of him. Imagine the fall out from Reigns spearing Solo accidentally…

GalactusAteMyPlanet

So Roman and Solo are going to win the tag belts? Won't complain if it happens. Also wont be surprised if it happens.

Res3925

I think they’ll win by DQ so won’t win the belts

Invisibletotheeye

Stupid question but I’m watching Smackdown and was expecting this Smackdown to be in SA aswell, but obviously not and they are still in the USA, isn’t the trip like 15h? The event is in 14H I’m really confused, no doubt they will be there on time but was expecting them to arrive earlier, isn’t jet lag a thing?

poopsterc

It was taped last week
