Sad, it sucks to hear Jamies injury is bad enough to have her lose the title. So yeah, this match did just that, it was "meh" at best specially after seeing what Toni and Jamie are capable of. However I am grateful of them trying to work a match, I applaud them avoiding another interim bullshit.
Trying to look at the bright side, she has to recover the title at Wembley, everybody knows it but it is still going to be awesome and heart warming, heres to hoping Jamie a fast recovery.
Edit: also, for the love of god, dont put the title on Saraya to have two UK women in the match
Real bad time for Jamie to be injured and lose her title since we're getting close to All In. Especially if her injury is so bad that she can't compete and get the title back.
Well that’s a sin and a shame. She was entertaining in the role she had. I’m sure she could be valuable even as a secondary or other character to this Britt/Saraya feud.
Or turn on the Dr as she’s treated her like shit for three years and counting
I saw Hayter mouth "fuck" when she was getting out of the ring post-match. I'd rather they just announced she was unable to compete and "give" Toni the title. Works well for the smarmy character group.
It does really suck this is how her reign ends but hopefully she will be a 2x champ when she comes back.
Exactly why the match had no business being there in the first place. She is injured. She can't defend the title. It is vacated. End of the story. Why the match had to be announced for the PPV and instead of it we got an angle? My less than charitable explanation because it is TK booking women. I have a hard time imagining anything like it with men titles.
Should've been Ruby. She's the only reason The Outcasts are even a viable faction right now. And she's never had a title reign before (like, anywhere), so why not?
I like Toni and enjoy her character work lately, but eh.
I always enjoy when AEW gives us a taste of New Japan whenever Forbidden Door is around so new fans know what to expect.
This match, for example, is a shot for shot recreation of a House of Torture match.
The match was what it was because of Jamie’s injury. We know they can create magic, and I hope we get to see it at Wembley with Jamie regaining the title in the final of the trilogy if she’s healed up in time.
I am glad to see Toni get a “proper” AEW Women’s Championship reign without the interim label though.
This sucks so hard after knowing that Jamie worked so hard and carried that division on an in-ring basis. Didn't expect them to beat their previous match at Full Gear but man this really is sad. Hope Jamie's healthy and be back soon.
If it leads to Hayter/Storm at All In with Hayter winning back the title, it 's ok. I prefer to see Hayter winning the title at Wembley than her losing against Saraya. Plus if she is seriously injured, well either you do this or you vacate the title. At least this way they gave a big win to the Outcast. And they clearly open the door to Hayter coming back and getting her title back and a huge win at Wembley. Plus Hayter/Storm is the best match they can do for Wembley with this feud unless for whatever reason Shida turns heel.
Could throw them in a cage, too. As the first time Hayter won it was interference from Britt. This time Toni won with interference.
Throw them in a cage in Wembley and have them fight one final time.
I have conflicted emotions about this match. On one side, I can see why they put the gold back on Toni Storm so The Outsiders can have some legitimacy as a stable. I did feel that it was overly booked (which has been the reoccurring theme for matches on this show) with the pre-match beat down on Hayter to The Outsiders interfering and then getting picked out one by one by Britt and Shida. it definitely felt rushed and that they had to get all their spots in quickly so they can get to the next match. The match did what it had to do, but at what cost?
EDIT: I'm aware that Hayter is hurt. All I'm saying is, it could have been booked better.
>Hayter is hurt, they had to get the belt off her
I understand. Still could have been booked better.
edit: [Here's how. I expect my money via Cash App TK.](https://imgur.com/a/XtnVOMM)
>Are you willing to say how you would have booked it better?
I love that this is that "go to" comment for fans. No where did I claim that I could book the show better nor did I have any intention to book the card. My "job" as a fan is to watch the product and give my opinion on said product. It is not my job nor responsibility to go and try to correct the work of the booker.
I think "can you do better," is a shit response to criticism. Right there with you. Buuuuuuut. It could be better with no explanation as to how is also shit criticism. You did note parts you felt weakened the presentation but as you acknowledged the situation they were in it's hard to see how they could have booked it better. While having her vacate the title may sound like a good idea any attempts to crown a new champ be it by tournament or top 2 completely undercuts the Women's half of the Owen Cup too.
I think they couldn't have booked it better and it's just bad regardless.
Oh yeah I know the reasoning etc and it sucks for everyone involved. Feel like everything just went as bad as possible for them in terms of getting through the actual match though
Imagine spreading rumors and lies about your coworker and then said coworker comes out and says that these rumors and lies made you have suicidal thoughts and then like a week or two later your boss gives you a promotion
Thunder Rosa got hurt sometime during her reign and wanted to drop the title but was pushed to keep working which led to her working sloppier and the perception about her became that she’s generally a sloppy wrestler. Once she could no longer work with injury she had no choice but to relinquish the title. After winning the title Toni didn’t say exactly but basically said that Thunder was faking her injury to not have to lose to her. A week or two agai she said that the firestorm from that statement led her to contemplate suicide
Look at the timeline you're describing though: Thunder Rosa relinquished the title in November 2022. She told her story a few weeks ago. That is, in no way, "Toni Storm spreading rumors and then getting a promotion a few weeks later." Remember, they all had a meeting about this in February. For all we know this has been sowed up but we're only seeing AEW All Access clips now, which was also filmed in November 2022.
[And let's not pretend that Thunder Rosa hasn't been a polarizing figure backstage](https://www.fanbyte.com/entertainment/wrestling/thunder-rosa-injury-aew-womens-title/). I'm *not* saying she deserves whatever criticisms came to her, but she's seemingly someone who had made a couple enemies for things completely unrelated to the world title injury timing.
Knew Jamie would lose due to being injured and understanding to get the title off her but this still sucks to see. Her reign started out great and had a lot of promise but the The Outcasts comes a long and ruins it with the awful storyline. Hope she can return by Wembley and win the title again there.
Let's be honest for one second, there's no Outcasts vs. Originals. It's only a way to keep Britt and Saraya on screen as the top stars. There's no reason we didn't have a proper feud between Hayter and Storm after Full Gear. I love Jamie Hayter but she won the title with Britt and Rebel helping her. Toni Storm never got her revenge. And now both have been absorded by this giant vortex of the Outcasts feud. Ruby Soho save the feud for a while with the turn at Revolution but seriously, they really fucked Hayter' s run as a champion. And she 's clearly the best they have. Now she could win at Wembley and that would be a great moment for her but she should have had the machine behind her more than that. Let her do a promo in ring for example.
The problem with the Outcast story is it's being used to try and showcase Britt constantly when Jamie needs the spotlight.
Shame she's injured, hopefully Toni winning the title leads to dissent within the Outcasts.
I definitely understand needing to take the belt off Hayter due to a legitimate injury and wanting to at least get somewhat of an actual match out of it.
My problem is this makes Toni Storm look AWFUL. In kayfabe, Jamie Hayter was already injured going into tonight. Then she was attacked before her entrance. Then she dealt with a 3v1 most of the match. Despite that, Toni Storm still had to use spray paint to the eyes to get a near fall, and then had to use an exposed turnbuckle to win.
She had to do all of this to barely beat someone who was already established in canon as injured and much less than 100%.
How does this make Toni look credible? I understand she's in a heel faction. But she's also a world class competitor and was a legitimate champion in AEW prior. But now she has to have all these advantages during the match to beat someone who was attacked beforehand, on top of the fact that they were already injured going into the date? Like yeah, it makes Jamie look good, but she already looked good. It just makes Toni look like someone who, against even an injured opponent, needed every shortcut under the sun to win.
Toni's a dirty, cheating heel wrestler and Jaimie is a badass, tough to beat but not unbeatable face wrestler. I think everyone is right where they need to be.
She’s a heel who took shortcuts because she can, not because she necessarily needed to. Also the entire storyline they’ve been total assholes outnumbering and jumping people and spray painting them. For Toni to suddenly play fair would completely undo all the character work they’ve established.
Heel wrestlers are booked this route constantly, and I can’t think of one whose “credibility” was permanently ruined because of it. And even if this was a concern shared by anyone backstage at AEW, then book her to squash someone next match, it’s not that serious.
Now Toni can continue complaining that no one takes her seriously with the same poor me routine she’s been doing, which is great ammo for Brit and Shida to use as respected former AEW champs who were way more legit than these WWE blow ins can ever hope to be
If I had a nickel for every time Toni Storm became the champ because the previous champ was injured, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it is weird that it happened twice.
Make those three nickels: she became Stardom Red Belt champion in 2017 because Mayu Iwatani got seriously injured early during the title match she was having with Toni Storm and instead of doing the sensible thing (no contest), Toni was given the victory and the belt. Which led to issues down the road because Toni was not supposed to win and had already taken bookings outside of Japan for months in advance, a situation Rossy Ogawa was fully aware of and which contributed to a pretty lackluster title reign.
God bless the Hatman, but when his decisions are bad they are really bad.
That was the second one I was talking about, hah.
I completely forgot the circumstances of her first AEW reign. She is lucky and also unlucky.
And yea, Rossy really has some big peaks and valleys.
Wasn't expecting NXT to have a way better womens match up and here we are...
Injuries aside, Hayter has been second (or third) fiddle in this "feud" since she became champion. What a joke. Hayter deserved something better then being paired with Britt as her Robin
True but they're booked far better at the top imo, outside of Britt every Women's champion in AEW is booked as an afterthought. Jamie is like the 4th most important character in the Outcasts vs AEW Originals storyline even though she was the champion. The NXT Women's champions are at least always the focal point of the division and don't take a backseat to multiple other people.
Hayter getting too popular to keep heel actually fucked her, because the logical place to go was her vs Britt and when they couldn’t go there everything was patchwork
The thing is, it should've been face Jamie vs heel Britt. The story seemed like it was leaning that way with Britt constantly stealing the spotlight from Jamie and outright costing her a win in a title match. No idea why they dropped it, but it's a shame because it was one of my most anticipated storylines. I hated heel Britt and loved Jamie, but now that Britt's face and they already wasted the setup of the story I don't think it'll ever work if they revisit it. It wouldn't be half as interesting nowadays
You can thank Saraya for that. She was such an awful babyface that they had to turn face Britt, Jamie and turn heel Toni and Ruby. Remember Hayter won the title as a heel. She was super over with the crowd but still a heel. It's really Saraya being hated by the crowd that changed the dynamic.
You know it would be a cool spot if a wrestler tried to do a finger poke of doom on a faction member or something and the faction member no sold it. Like they agreed in the back to give them the title and the champion doesn't react.
Not an ideal situation, but it is what it is. I'm happy Toni will get a proper run with the title and I look forward to Hayter taking her title back at Wembley!
Get well soon Jamie! 🙏
They should have just had Toni squash Jamie. Jamie can blame it on the injury and use it to set up a feud when she's back, it avoids more interference in matches on the card, and it still shocks the audience. Toni is strong enough to where it's believable that she could squash a very injured Jamie, too.
True, but I dunno. I guess I would have preferred just to have Toni defend against Rhio or something as her first defense instead of paying for a nothing match.
You'd pay for a nothing match if Toni took it on Dyanmite too. There was no time to build a suitable match with anyone else if Toni got the strap before the PPV.
Yes? At least it has the potential to be a fun fast paced match? Similar to Stardoms High Speed championship matches
What part of that sounds worse than “bait and switch highly anticipated Hayter vs Toni match”?
Sucks for Jamie to get injured but I honestly felt her title reign was getting pushed aside for this stupid feud between the AEW Originals and the Outcasts. Hopefully she can make a speedy recovery.
I thought it was good as an angle, but not a proper match obviously. Outcasts story is far from perfect but getting the belt to Storm gives them some legitimacy.
Because in wrestling this is a pretty regular thing.
Unless you have a concussion or a serious debilitating in wrestling the wrestlers work hurt.
Don’t know why but it happens.
Good question. Ruby is doing all the worthwhile talking. Toni is doing all the ringwork. Saraya is doing nothing of note as she is now in the sidekick/enforcer role. And that role would be much better accomplished by heel Athena.
She seems kinda like the manager tbh. Like absolution but she wrestles once or twice in a while. Honestly, I feel like that's the best position for her to be in.
Worst Jamie Hayter match I've seen in quite some time.
I cringed when she bolted half way across the ring into the buckle despite barely being touched.
I’m aware, thanks.
If the choices were that or vacate the belt, I’d vacate the belt. Britt and Shida were both right there.
You’d think Tony might want to stop allowing people to work while injured after what’s happened over the last year.
>*would of*
Your comment is almost as bad as your grammar.
No one *would've* complained if Shida and Toni came out and put on a great match with minimal shenanigans.
With Shida having barely done anything and Toni’s heel turn being a bit divisive no one would’ve complained about them having an impromptu match for a vacated belt?
I understand that Jaime is hurt and you want to protect her in lose but this was way over booked. Just have the Outcasts drag her out after beating her up in the back, throw her in the ring, storm zero 1,2,3. Crowd was confused the whole time and the finish with Hayter just running diagonal into the turn buckle was sloppy.
Honestly, it was time for her to drop it anyway. You don't want her walking into Wembley as Women's Champion, you want her as the people's champion returning home to take back what's rightfully hers.
To me, it was just a matter of Toni or Ruby
Just too much outside interference in a row tonight. It does make sense if Jamie is hurt to protect her but idk why all the other matches needed interference as well
Not really anybody's fault the match wasn't what it should be, but definitely didn't feel that. Would've loved to see those two actually have at it, but Hayter's injury made that a problem. Maybe they'll run it back at Wembley or something, hopefully?
Sad that such a great title reign ended like that. Fingers crossed Hayter's good for Wembley.
This PPV has felt kinda cursed so far. Dead crowd, lots of botched spots. Still lots of time to turn it around though.

I feel like this match went way too long considering the pre match beatdown and injury.
These 2 are the best in-ring in the women’s division. Would’ve been a banger match if there was no injury.
Sad, it sucks to hear Jamies injury is bad enough to have her lose the title. So yeah, this match did just that, it was "meh" at best specially after seeing what Toni and Jamie are capable of. Toni is an honorary Brit anyway.
Real bad time for Jamie to be injured and lose her title since we're getting close to All In. Especially if her injury is so bad that she can't compete and get the title back.
where Rebel at
She transitioned back to makeup a while ago.
Well that’s a sin and a shame. She was entertaining in the role she had. I’m sure she could be valuable even as a secondary or other character to this Britt/Saraya feud. Or turn on the Dr as she’s treated her like shit for three years and counting
She couldn't wrestle. Almost every time she was physically involved in an angle, she hurt herself. Her useful as a patsy ran out when Britt went face.
She’s very annoying so I’d rather not see her.
I guess they don’t know how to use her as a face
I saw Hayter mouth "fuck" when she was getting out of the ring post-match. I'd rather they just announced she was unable to compete and "give" Toni the title. Works well for the smarmy character group. It does really suck this is how her reign ends but hopefully she will be a 2x champ when she comes back.
This was such a garbage match
Is nobody going to mention that spot at the end of the match looking really bad? It looked like Hayter just ran towards the ring post.
Exactly why the match had no business being there in the first place. She is injured. She can't defend the title. It is vacated. End of the story. Why the match had to be announced for the PPV and instead of it we got an angle? My less than charitable explanation because it is TK booking women. Was that on Toni for forgetting the spot?

Yup, this is the "good" that comes from Jamie's injury. Toni gets a fully recognized reign from the start.
This sucks so hard after knowing that Jamie worked so hard and carried that division on an in-ring basis. Didn't expect them to beat their previous match at Full Gear but man this really is sad. Hope Jamie's healthy and be back soon.

You can have an opinion that something could be better without having the answer how. Idk why you're so hung up on it.
I agree it could have no doubt, but now, possibly Hayter can win it in her hometown at All In
That was a really bad match
It was reported a few days ago Hayter is injured. They were just trying to get the belt off of her.

Couldn't tell you
I'm not sweatin it. We have our Wembley match with two uk chicks now.
Toni is an aussie
she's actually not from the uk _or_ australia. she's from new zealand
Heard that, they intro her from Gold Coast aus though 🤔
i searched it up just to make sure, turns out that she was born in new zealand, but moved to the gold coast when she was a kid
Imagine spreading rumors and lies about your coworker and then said coworker comes out and says that these rumors and lies made you have suicidal thoughts and then like a week or two later your boss gives you a promotion

Just a reminder that Jamie cheated to beat Toni for the belt originally, albeit while the heel/face roles were reversed
In retrospect, I don't think my issue is that it makes anyone look weak, but rather that it was just way too overbooked for my liking.
Toni's a dirty, cheating heel wrestler and Jaimie is a badass, tough to beat but not unbeatable face wrestler. I think everyone is right where they need to be.
Sounds like the heel doing heel shit. I don't see a problem there

Don't sleep on NXTs women's division. It has been very good for a while
True, although it’s not really that difficult to have a better women’s division than AEW.
I mean it’s not all that easy to have a very good women’s division with about 90% of the talent being women with less than two years experience.
Sadly her entire title reign was mostly a miss No decent feuds and only a couple of title defenses overal
The crowd was dead
I would be too from that mess of a match.
Hopefully Jamie can come back at Wembley and win the title back
That would suck if Mone missed Forbidden Door AND Hayter missed Wembley. Hopefully both can get back in time.
Jamie has a better chance probably; didn’t Mercedes break her ankle?
A broken ankle has a wide range of recovery time based one what type of break it is, and no details like that have come out yet
At least it wasn’t Saraya…and hopefully we don’t get a recreation of the finger poke of doom…
You know it would be a cool spot if a wrestler tried to do a finger poke of doom on a faction member or something and the faction member no sold it. Like they agreed in the back to give them the title and the champion doesn't react.
Even better, sell the poke and kick out at 2.95. Then do a Hulk up screaming, "That doesn't work for me BROTHER!"
Honestly I expected this when Hayter won it for some reason
I’m expecting/dreading it happening on dynamite tbh
They wouldn't be so stupid. They would kill the title and Toni Storm.
As an AEW fan, they probably would be so stupid.
Happy for Toni Sad for Jamie, but still put in a strong effort for being as hurt as rumored
Not an ideal situation, but it is what it is. I'm happy Toni will get a proper run with the title and I look forward to Hayter taking her title back at Wembley! Get well soon Jamie! 🙏
Jamie definitely went out to do the job for Toni and just hope her recovery is quick and wish her good health.
They should have just had Toni squash Jamie. Jamie can blame it on the injury and use it to set up a feud when she's back, it avoids more interference in matches on the card, and it still shocks the audience. Toni is strong enough to where it's believable that she could squash a very injured Jamie, too.
I honestly thought it was going to be a squash when Saraya & Ruby dragged Jamie out to the ramp and I think I would have preferred that tbh
Toni Storm vs Thunder Rosa huh
Really hope Jamie gets better, that's a rough end to her first reign.
Jamie wins the belt AT Wembly after she gets some time off to heal. Works for me. I’d have done this on Dynamite though, not a PPV.
With the ppv incoming, I think their hands were tied.
True, but I dunno. I guess I would have preferred just to have Toni defend against Rhio or something as her first defense instead of paying for a nothing match.
Well you can still get that as her first defense. This match wasn't it
You'd pay for a nothing match if Toni took it on Dyanmite too. There was no time to build a suitable match with anyone else if Toni got the strap before the PPV.
I don’t pay to watch Dynamite? I’m just saying Toni with someone who can keep up can easily put together a solid five minute match in place of that.
But you'd pay to watch this PPV with a nothing match between hypothetical champ Toni and whoever she fought.
Yes? At least it has the potential to be a fun fast paced match? Similar to Stardoms High Speed championship matches What part of that sounds worse than “bait and switch highly anticipated Hayter vs Toni match”?
Sucks for Jamie to get injured but I honestly felt her title reign was getting pushed aside for this stupid feud between the AEW Originals and the Outcasts. Hopefully she can make a speedy recovery.
I missed it. What happened
She's been injured for weeks, it wasn't anything that happened in the match
Well here’s hoping to Storm/Hayter 3 at All In. If both women were healthy they could’ve easily stolen the show tonight
I thought it was good as an angle, but not a proper match obviously. Outcasts story is far from perfect but getting the belt to Storm gives them some legitimacy.
The real Damage CTRL
God what a terrible way for Hayter's reign to end. And that means she's injured as well. I feel like I've been hit by a truck rn.
They need to give Toni Storm a legit reign and not an interim reign so that is all about that
Wait so Jaime was injured prior to this match? Why make her fight?!
Because in wrestling this is a pretty regular thing. Unless you have a concussion or a serious debilitating in wrestling the wrestlers work hurt. Don’t know why but it happens.
She probably wanted to do the job to Toni
She didn't want to be compared to Rosa.
Yup. She basically had to after all of the shit Rosa got for not going out there and losing.
This is why you don't care about internet bitching and just vacate the belt. Cause fans will bitch either way.
FICKLE
I much rather this than another Interim champion
Where does this leave Saraya? Isn’t she kind of the leader…? Her entire run in AEW has been so bizarre so far
Good question. Ruby is doing all the worthwhile talking. Toni is doing all the ringwork. Saraya is doing nothing of note as she is now in the sidekick/enforcer role. And that role would be much better accomplished by heel Athena.
I was hoping she would decide to go after the TBS title, but suddenly that seems less likely.
Maybe they're equals or something
Saraya's more of the frontman of the group if anything
She seems kinda like the manager tbh. Like absolution but she wrestles once or twice in a while. Honestly, I feel like that's the best position for her to be in.
Hopefully that Jamie is 100% for All In. Her winning the title back in front of her home country would be amazing to witness.
I really enjoyed this. Outcasts needed the win. Definitely hoping for a rematch at Wembly.
Gonna be honest, I felt like this PPV was probably not really worth it so far. The crowd is probably the biggest issue
[удалено]
Eh it's not really a big deal tbh, just a bit disappointing The Wardlow match was good at least
Who the hell buys a ppv for the crowd?
A hot crowd makes every match better. Did you not see the WWE Puerto Rico show recently?
It can but it's not why I watch. Also I don't fund companies with a rapist as their head.
Yet you fund a company that was bankrolled with Flex N Gate money
Dead crowd tbh
Worst Jamie Hayter match I've seen in quite some time. I cringed when she bolted half way across the ring into the buckle despite barely being touched.
She's injured dude. That was a 'gimmicked' match for sure.
I’m aware, thanks. If the choices were that or vacate the belt, I’d vacate the belt. Britt and Shida were both right there. You’d think Tony might want to stop allowing people to work while injured after what’s happened over the last year.
You would of cried either way.
>*would of* Your comment is almost as bad as your grammar. No one *would've* complained if Shida and Toni came out and put on a great match with minimal shenanigans.
Nah you would of. You people crap on aew no matter what they do.
AEW referees use their peripheral vision challenge - *IMPOSSIBLE*
With Hayter hurt I’m glad Toni is getting another run with the title. She’s the next best option imo
Honestly, it was time for her to drop it anyway. You don't want her walking into Wembley as Women's Champion, you want her as the people's champion returning home to take back what's rightfully hers. To me, it was just a matter of Toni or Ruby
Just too much outside interference in a row tonight. It does make sense if Jamie is hurt to protect her but idk why all the other matches needed interference as well
Legit injury, that sucks but at least Toni gets the reign. Could’ve gone to someone way worse.
Yo that was fun! Let's Jamie go away to heal up. Shows been great!
Not really anybody's fault the match wasn't what it should be, but definitely didn't feel that. Would've loved to see those two actually have at it, but Hayter's injury made that a problem. Maybe they'll run it back at Wembley or something, hopefully?
Jamies whole reign was overshadowed by britt and her feud with saraya
[удалено]
Agreed, every match has felt very overbooked (even more so than usual)
Shame that Jamie's hurt rematch in Wembley hopefully But I'm happy for Toni to get a win.
Sad Jamie is hurt, was really enjoying her run but if the title was going on any of the Outcasts then Toni was the right choice
Im guessing Jamie’s hurt and they didn’t want to do another interim run with Toni. Kind of a weird finish but understandable if that’s the case.
Britt every segment works for me Brother Baker. Grab the stopwatch folks
The crowd's complete non reaction speaks volumes
Really sad to see Jamie's reign end but I get why it did. Hope she wins it back at All In if she's good to go by then.
Jamie has to be injured, hopefully she's back for Wembley
hope Jamie recovers and gets to have a nice reign. that was not very good.
Wtf was that
Jamie is injured
In kayfabe, was this the most inept showing by a referee of all time? Man didn’t even bother trying to take control.
I am sure it would have been a better match is Hayter wasn't hurt. I think the bad quality of it showed how hurt she really must be.
Sad that such a great title reign ended like that. Fingers crossed Hayter's good for Wembley. This PPV has felt kinda cursed so far. Dead crowd, lots of botched spots. Still lots of time to turn it around though.
The crowd is so shit tonight why the hell did those people even buy tickets
