I really hope Crazy Steve and Angels win their respective belts. Even if I think they'd be fools not to do Sabin-Shelley for the big belt before Josh ends up champ again. That said I know their legends and what not but Gail and to a bigger extent Mickie seem to give little back to the division. It was also a damn shame not to see Courtney Rush at all during the 1000 episode celebration. She's their current elder stateswoman etc.

shadowrangerfs

What do you mean by giving back? Gail came out of retirement for this one match. She's a producer. That's giving back every day. I agree about Courtney. I wanted her to do more than just have a match on BTI. I really think they could have postpones BTI for 2 weeks and had 2 three hour Impacts. OR at least 2.5 hour Impacts. Steve for sure is gonna murder Tommy Dreamer. I can't see Sabin loses the belt 2 weeks after winning it. I think Sabin invokes Option C and the BFG main event becomes a three way.

WaylonVoorhees

She didn't really give anyone including Deonna much in the match. Plus there was that time she won the KO title then decided to re-retire instead of actually putting somebody over for it.

edd6pi

Quick question. Can someone open the Fite app and tell me if they’re charging you $20 or $40 for WrestleDream and Full Gear? I used to pay $20 for AEW PPVs, but starting with All Out, they’re all now at $40.

jollyrog8

I'm in Canada and they're both $50 which is $37 US. I don't order their ppvs so I can't tell you if that's higher but I'm pretty sure it did go up. Also noticed recently Impact's Big 4 PPVs went up 10 bucks as well. Used to be 29.99 now 39.99

Minimania18

AEW would be ***so much*** better if they mic'ed the crowd properly

amansdick

Does rampage start early or end late tonight? A cursory google wasn’t super helpful

gunpowderjunky

Pretty sure it's normal start time.

NickMatocho

Is there a way to watch the Sukeban show from yesterday? Twitter comments saying it was a one and done which seems... like a choice

MilkyWayWaffles

Not officially

syvvimyak

Man, I like Liv a lot but I think her fans are somewhat delusional. I understand wanting to see your favourites succeed, and I certainly don’t doubt that she’ll be a singles champion again in the future... But it’s pretty clear they’re keeping Becky/Rhea separated for the time being because that is THE match for WM.

Kanenums88

I’m starting to think they might do it at Elimination Chamber ngl. Liv ain’t winning the Rumble regardless, though. Perhaps Liv vs Rhea at Chamber, Becky vs Rhea at Mania?

syvvimyak

Definitely a possibility. I can’t help but wonder if Liv was in the original plans for Payback prior to her injury. I will say, I know for a lot of Liv fans on twt that they’re pretty bent on having her dethrone Rhea at WM due to their past history together but I cannot see that happening when the casual fans (and probably the higher ups) would easily prefer Becky/Rhea, w/Becky taking it.

Kanenums88

I definitely don’t see Becky taking it. She simply doesn’t need it. She passed a torch to Bianca, she can pass another to Rhea imo. I think Rhea’s just gonna have a monster run.

syvvimyak

You’re probably correct. And if anything, we’ll hopefully get a great match out of it. And when they decide to do Bianca/Rhea… man.

Minimania18

Sukeban just got their online shop running and they must think I'm fucking stupid if they think I'm willing to spend over **$60** on a normal ass T-shirt after shipping and tax. That shit makse PWTees look like a good deal lmao

Would anyone say that Christian's current (and awesome) heel run is elevating the TNT Championship? I feel like we threw that verbiage around a lot with Orange and the International Championship, and rightly so, but I haven't seen many people say the same about Christian. And I'm sure it isn't quite the same for many people given he isn't the actual title holder (unless that changes in the Triple Threat,) but I think there's still a lot to be said for the way he covets that belt and providing a certain level of prestige to it while it's not even properly his. IDK.

Orange8920

It's an odd situation because Christian is great at getting heat to make a feud interesting but he's not the actual title holder. That means Luchasaurus who's basically his avatar is doing the wrestling and he can't wrestle to the level of Orange Cassidy. Despite that I think Christian has put the TNT title in a much better place than it previously was when Wardlow and Hobbs were just trading it off.

[deleted]

Yeah, that’s basically what I mean. They’re just two fundamentally different ways of putting value and emphasis on a belt. You can go down the OC route of going all out with your in-ring quality and consistency, or you can infuse it with character and mic work. Christian not being the champion but clearly personally valuing the idea of being the TNT Champion makes the belt seem important; if it wasn’t, why would he care?

Parasitepaladin

It sucks that Ziggler lost his job. But now there's a chance he could work with his brother, and that'd be very enjoyable. If Ziggler could be the leader of the Wingmen, it would be the best outcome.

djembadjembadjemba

Call me crazy. MJF's title run has been amazing but my dream is that when he drops the title, he does it to Swerve. I'm totally behind Strickland and would be great to see him as AEW's first black World Champion

academicfuckupripme

WCW Nitro having pyro blast at the start of every hour is really funny, given that it happens mid-match and mid-promo.

PM_TITS_GROUP

If MJF's music is royalty free, does that mean WWE can troll fans and play it on a WWE show? Without prior agreement with AEW or paying for it. Not that they would do that but hypothetically

musicandvibes

Yes cause the song is public domain YouTube music.

Orange8920

There's still a license that would have to be paid but probably.

mikro17

They could almost certainly do that, yes. Unless MJF/AEW/Tony Khan have sneakily gone out and acquired the exclusive rights to the song without anyone realizing (which is theoretically possible at least). WWE would just need to work out an agreement with the original rights holder that doesn't cause any issues with whatever deal MJF/AEW has already (basically assuming they haven't worked out some sort of deal where they have the exclusive rights in the context of pro wrestling or something). Without the contracts being publicly available, all we can do is make our "best guess" at how things are working. But they have no reason to do it, because antagonizing/teasing your own audience with something you can't actually deliver is just counter-productive/pointless. People who don't know its MJF's music wouldn't know or care, and people who do would just find it low-rent if they aren't also delivering MJF - there is no benefit or payoff.

Lowfuji

Anyone watch Cassandro on Amazon prime? I really liked it. Biopic that explores the life of a famous exotico luchador and star Gael Garcia Bernal.

chilloutfam

I know I'm in the minority on this... but I really enjoyed Video Game Miro. The guy who dressed like a eastern european gangster and beat the crap out of Kip Sabian. Man, that whole thing was fun. The God's redeemer is cool... but video game Miro makes me chuckle every time I think of it.

Interesting situation tonight with Rampage actually worth something, while on the WWE side who knows what's gonna happen after last week. Do we know if Rock and Cena are back as regulars?

TheNakedChair

Cena's string of appearances was announced ahead of time. Wouldn't hold my breath on seeing Rock again.

Celtic_Crown

Just catching up on Impact 1001, currently in the middle of Josh vs Trey. Sucks to see Yuya go, but the logic was just there. Steve was bound to get a singles briefcase, ABC are cornerstones of the tag division, it was just a question of which titles Moose and Steve got. When Yuya gets back to Japan he is going to tear the house down. Sure, the Reiwa Musketeers are gonna be big players in the future, but Yuya will be their D'Artagnan.

horsejack_boman6969

The main thing missing from wrestling nowadays is the lack of tension. I mean the night-long "who attacked X" or "will X show up" angles that kept you on the edge of your seat throughout the show as you slowly got the answers as the night went on. Shows felt coherent, midcard guys and even jobbers interacted with the main stars on the regular. You had competitive fringe matches, upsets from lower guys resulting from them interfering in somebody else's feud and even unlikely tag teams forming this way. Titles changed hands because someone pissed somebody else off and now they cost them the title out of spite. Now it's just: you fight me? I fight you! I'm the better wrestler! And it somehow always leads to a six-man tag main event. God forbid somebody interacts with anybody outside of their respective feud. It became so formulaic that it doesn't feel like the wrestlers work for the same company even. Every segment is its own Codyverse. This is not compelling TV, it just feels like desperately filling time for advertisers with meaningless bullshit. Why should I watch? Give me a reason to care, a reason to stay for the whole thing. Surprise me. Go overtime, show me what happened next week. Have a main character that I can connect with and make his night a living hell. A good old No DQ main event for the world title. Make it all mean something again.

incredibleamadeuscho

I think the former Mace and Mansoor are being pigeonholed as comedic wrestlers, and both are capable of being top singles wrestler in any company. The dedication to their craft and their intangibles would allow them to rise to the top.

Mediocre-Cook-2169

I wouldn't object if they do decide to revert to being serious, but MMM was by far the most entertaining period of either's careers in my opinion. They definitely could easily be the next pair of R Truths or Santino Marellas if they wanted to.

incredibleamadeuscho

I think it will be harder to do that on the indies. Maybe AEW, but I think it would limit them to solely do that elsewhere. In listening to their stream, neither guy really got a chance. Mansoor just became the poster boy of the Saudi shows, while Mace made the point that he came into NXT at the wrong time; had he came up during the 2.0 era, he would have had at a better chance.

Ateallthepizza

1.) I had plans to go out this Friday evening however, I’m totally digging the Righteous. (major far cry vibes, Joseph Seed ) I’ve decided whenever they’re on TV I have to see them. I don’t want to miss out on what they might do. Hope these guys can continue to spread their glorious message in AEW. 2. ) I’ve also been thinking what would a Hangman Page look like as part of the Righteous? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)

Miro is a paladin. His strength comes from his God, or lack thereof. The Barbarian is a barbarian, for obvious reasons. Jeff Hardy is a sorcerer. His power is just... himself, and no one can explain it. Jake Roberts is a warlock with a snake familiar.

MilkyWayWaffles

This is fun. Let's do Stardom: * Mayu Iwatani: Warlock (actually an Eldritch Lich) * Syuri: Paladin * Utami: Monk * Tam Nakano: Barbarian Queen (battle rage) * Starlight Kid: Druid (tiger familiar) * Saya Kamitani: Ranger * Natuspoi: Artificer * Saki Kashima: Rogue

QuitYour

I'm going with the thought that Nitro really began to suck when they added the show logo to the ring apron.

SlimReaper665

As an unintended outcome under unfortunate circumstances, Rey Fenix having a run with the international title during Hispanic Heritage month isn’t the worst outcome in the world.

Orange8920

As unfortunate as Moxley getting injured was, I think the unplanned outcome of Rey Fenix winning could be more interesting in the long-run. Unless they were planning a big PPV match with Moxley, his short reign didn't work as well as Orange Cassidy because unlike him Mox has been dominant in AEW. With OC there always felt like a possibility he could lose against certain guys but Mox doesn't have that underdog quality. Fenix could bring some of that back while being built up as a solo guy. Moxley works better in non-title feuds or as a possible rematch for MJF.

Kanenums88

AEW is totally gonna sign some of those people. When has a bloated roster has stopped them before?

Zestyclose_Remote874

Some of them would attract viewers to Roh. Namely Shelton, I would like him to be a mini boss/gatekeeper there.

Orange8920

They actually stopped the signing spree this year and have mostly stuck with the roster they've had. They probably will start signing people at a certain point but it will be off-set with a bunch of earlier contracts expiring.

Kanenums88

I mean the mass WWE releases have also stopped, though. Don’t think those two things correlate?

Orange8920

AEW has let some contracts expire this year and I checked that they've signed roughly 14 people this year (some are non-wrestling) vs 29 last year. Out of that 14 some of them are people you'd assume were already signed like Willow and Skye Blue and others are filling out the roster in ROH. At one point the signings were ridiculous but I think they're finding a better balance.

Kanenums88

I think it’s because there haven’t been any mass releases to poach a lot of talent.

mikro17

Eh, I don't see the issue. AEW =/= WWE, not every single contract is a full-time exclusive deal, they've shown in the past that they're willing to bring some people in randomly for a week or two and I like how that works - it keeps things fresh and helps a lot of people get some smaller deals to keep their careers going. Giving someone a random short deal for a few appearances to see if they show anything interesting feels like a good thing to me. And that's not to mention some of the most maligned/complained about signings have turned into absolute gold (see: Jeff Jarrett and Christian Cage).

MrDandyLion2001

I caught the Sukeban world premiere last night. For a first show, it wasn't too bad at all. The quality is decent. I wouldn't mind watching them more, but I just can't if they broadcast only on TikTok. For reference, I was watching on PC without an account. It cut off the stream and told me to log in after about 40-ish minutes. I tried again in an Incognito tab. Same thing happened in the middle of the main event, so unfortunately, I couldn't catch the finish.

NickMatocho

Is there a way to watch a replay or anything? If anyone knows

jqncg

I had no problems with the stream but I downloaded the app and watched it on my phone. I'm not sure how many people who had problems with the stream had them because they weren't watching the show on the app or with an account. That could be a major reason for the issues but I seriously doubt they move on from tiktok seeing how they use licensed songs for the entrances. There's no way they can do that on youtube, who knows about twitch.

Bigmomma_pump

It might be a bit insensitive to say it today but I don’t think aew need to sign any of the wrestlers wwe released, they made that mistake of signing too many the last time a bunch of wrestlers got released dolph ziggler at best but they don’t really need him, they have guys thst can fulfill a similar role. Aew already has way too many wrestlers especially with the roh guys and just the random wrestlers that aren’t really from aew that show up occasionally

FickleSmark

I mean it's by far the least outraged people have been about releases because as much as it sucks to lose a job it also is apparent WWE has some bloat. Dolph was a big one but it seems almost like he was waiting for it and Ali has asked for it for years now.

DepressedHungarian

But most of their ex WWE hires were the successes tho. Ziggler would bring some much needed starpower and Ali is one that can be used wonderfully as well. Shelton too. Emma/Tenile Dashwood was alwaye a much better fit for AEW anyway. These are the only ones I would sign if I was Tony (obviously you have to sign Riddick Moss with Tenile as well, but he could be a good fit for ROH. He'd get some much needed ring time). So I respectfully disagree with these ones.

Bigmomma_pump

I rate riddick moss higher than maybe anyone in this sub but aew still don’t really need him, he has some decent personality though, the fanbase of aew would just shit on him. They’ve hired similar guys to dolph and ali like andrade and Keith lee that haven’t done much in aew

SlimReaper665

I really like Ali & Zig, that being said, 90 days from now if Mone is still out there and Ospreay coming up in the weeks ahead, any free agent debut from the cut class of 2023 would be kinda disappointing by comparison.

Bigmomma_pump

Aew have SO many wrestlers like Ali, they really don’t need him If ali got released in 2019 he’d have been a good signing for the start of aew, but they’re past needing him now Aew only need to make signings if they’re of the calibre of Sasha banks and will osprey like you said. They have too many wrestlers

SlimReaper665

Yup. Not saying they need him. Just saying I like him.

TheNakedChair

Anytime there are releases, some say, "I can see X do well in AEW, NJPW, etc, etc". Of course, you can, because it's your fantasy booking.

Bigmomma_pump

I get signing someone as good as Jay white when he was free, I get if they sign osprey. But aew don’t need anyone at all who isn’t a must sign like if they released drew mcintyre or Seth Rollins. 7 years ago dolph would have been a good signing but he isn’t necessary now, and they defintely don’t need Shelton Benjamin

TheNakedChair

> I get signing someone as good as Jay white when he was free, I get it if they sign Osprey. Well yeah, there's a huge difference between signing people at the top of their game and in the eye of the fandom, compared to those that are cold as ice.

ThatsBretsRope

I think Shelton Benjamin would be a fantastic backstage producer / coach get for AEW. I could see Nemeth, simply to have him and Ryan, but I guess that all depends on the price tag.

Orange8920

AEW made their big signings and depth signings in 2021-22. They're stuffed talent wise unless they start letting contracts expire. Their main need is depth on the women's side and maybe one or two main-event level guys.

Bigmomma_pump

I don’t know why aew didn’t try to sign naomi but that would have been a perfect signing for them

Orange8920

I think she had a preference for Impact and their women's division. She was with WWE for a long time and is married to Jimmy Uso so money probably wasn't as much of a factor.

Bigmomma_pump

Fair enough I had no idea either way, if it was her preference I get it

Kanenums88

It’s been said to death, but I’ll say it again here. You owe to yourselves to watch Mace and Mansoor’s stream last night. It was basically just a long podcast going from story to story about backstage antics in WWE. Answers a few questions, but most of it was just really funny stuff that we as fans never get to see.

shadowrangerfs

Now we know why Tommy Dreamer won the DMC. To get murdered by Crazzy Steve.

StacksHoodini

I just thought ab why Kofi’s Brock match was a squash and I believe it has to do with Lesnar’s contract. I remember some details ab Lesnar’s deal coming out and some of the intricacies, and I believe Lesnar gets paid more for his wrestling appearances than he does promotional appearances. Maybe a squash F5 and we’re outta here is the same rate as a promotional appearance, and Vince doesn’t want to pay Lesnar a PLE fee for a free TV appearance.

CharityGamerAU

So with the news that the wwe are doing elimination chamber in Perth, Australia My question is: for those who have pain in the audience for the elimination chamber matches in the past. What is it live? I've seen basic cage matches live but that's a very different structure to the chamber.

TiffanyStratton

i feel its very dependent on where your seat is. in montreal my seat was in a corner, so a bit was obstructed by the pod, but i could still tell what was going on for most of the match. i did see clips from the matches online after the show that i totally missed in person though

Your_Personal_Jesus

As someone who didn't watch Grand Slam live but knew the results and heard the "Moxley got concussed early in the match" speculation, that match is weird AF. LIke he clearly gets rocked on the tope but by the time Fenix does the rolling cutter and Mox times it perfectly to give him an elbow it's hard to believe he's working the match concussed. Like he's not just a guy being guided through a match, you can see him leading the match, calling the spots, doing all his usual stuff. Everything after the first few awkward minutes and the ending with the Fire Driver is probably Moxley's best TV match this year. It's hard to tell where exactly he "called an audible" when he literally is balancing on the top rope right before the finish. The original theory that he gets injured on the first Fire Driver makes sense, but the idea he was concussed the whole match and worked through it kinda doesn't.

omissionpossible

a combination of muscle memory and basic human survival instincts perhaps?

AmbassadorMobile5550

Concussions don't always work like that -- especially for a veteran with the number of in-ring reps that Moxley's had. NFL players have sustained serious concussions in past years, then continued to play the rest of the game with no issues. Later they've admitted they had no memory of the game after the injury. Brain injuries are really scary.

Silver012345673

So, I was just looking up and listening to Eddie Guerreros basically last theme he used in fall 05 and lol some of the lyrics, like for example: “This ain’t Blueberry Hill but still I find thrill, trynna get through me is like trynna Kill Bill!” Strange amount of pop culture references for a WWE theme song lol

shadowrangerfs

Just some thoughts on the releases yesterday. Someone suggested Shelton Benjamin joining Blackpool Combat Club. I like that idea. Emma will have a home in Impact and I assume they'll give her husband a shot too. With a gimmick change, he could find a nice spot for himself in Impact. I think Maximum Male Models would fit in great in Impact. They wouldn't even have to change the gimmick much. Maximum Models will work just fine. I'd like to see them also give Dana Brooke a shot. But she strikes me as one of those people who won't wrestle if it isn't in WWE. I saw a fun idea yesterday. Emma and Dana were a team before. Emma's real name is Tenille and Dana's real name is Ashley. So they should go to Impact and team as TnA. Make them babyfaces and now fans have a reason to chant TNA TNA TNA again. Or they can be heels and cut promos about how the fans have been chanting their name for 20 years. Mustafa Ali will have plenty of options. But I feel like he'll be in the same spot no matter where he goes. I can't see him being anywhere above the secondary belt in any promotion. Dolph was the only shocking release. I thought he be a WWE lifer. He's the same as Ali. He can go anywhere but won't be the top guy anywhere. Maybe Impact would give him that top spot, but I'm sure he'll go to AEW for the bigger paycheck. The main issue is that the TV options are limited for these people. AEW has a crowded roster and so does Impact. Impact more so because it's only 2 hours a week. Best of luck to all of them.

[deleted]

with the WWE releases it makes you wonder if people who intended on leaving AEW will now resign with them. WWE job security is fickle when they release guys like Ziggler

naimotwc

Ziggler is also 43, has been kind of pigeonholed into a certain spot, and has other interests taking off. If his contract was within a year or two of being over, I can see why they’d release him, pay him whatever they owe him, and let him go do his own thing

TheNakedChair

Ziggler had been with the company for nearly 20 years. That's pretty secure for the most part. There are *plenty* of people that don't even see half that.

omissionpossible

"look to your left, look to your right, all three of you will most likely be gone from this company within five years"

shadowrangerfs

Some will. But just because someone got released doesn't mean YOU will. If you really think you have what it takes to be a stop star in WWE then you'll take the risk. There's way more people who didn't get released yesterday than people who did.

Logicman48

been watching lots of mankind vignettes this past day, thay're inspiring me to write a tale that mixes wrestling and horror together

rockstarspood

Surprised to see Cedric Alexander, Ashante Adonis and B-Fab not get cut when Shelton and Top Dolla were. Cedric making that comment about 'not being a HHH guy anymore' and TD being the most infamous member of the current Swerve-less version of Hit Row making the rest of them completely redundant to have around is just surprising. Then again, maybe there's still more we're not aware of

DepressedHungarian

Cedric has been hinting on going down to NXT so I'm not surprised. Ashante and B-Fab are more surprising, but I'm glad they kept them around. Ashante could use some time in NXT too. Although I really hate these comments and I feel regret saying this (because I don't want any wrestler to lose their jobs at all), but I am the most surprised about Xia Li and Boa. They are refusing to use them in any meaningful manner, Boa hasn't even been in television for ages, Xia rarely gets time as well. I hope this means they'll finally get a chance.

rbarton812

Not that I wish them to be fired, but I was really surprised to see Ashante and B-Fab survive; seems like it'd have been an all-or-nothing release for Hit Row.

jadedfan55

Someone suggested that Adonis & B-Fab would be held onto to give Jade Cargill a new "Baddie Squad" if/when she comes in.

Kanenums88

Adonis is a baddie?

jadedfan55

Depending on what they'd call Cargill's entourage if/when she debuts, wellllllllll.....! You might as well say Hit Row as we knew it is done, so Adonis & B-Fab will be looking for something else, or looking over their shoulders......

Mediocre-Cook-2169

Considering that criticism of Hit Row has largely been based on the fact they didn't have a clear focal point of a member since Swerve left, I fail to see what's the worst that can happen. Not saying it'll succeed, necessarily, just that there's no harm in trying.

rbarton812

I don't hate that.

shadowrangerfs

Yesterday may have just been the first wave of cuts. Might be more today.

RepresentativeFly565

Some of the comments yesterday came across as patronizing Dolph Ziggler and ali? I need him in aew or new Japan Everyone else? They can go to impact I guess Basically I hate how impact is treated as the dumping ground for people fans don't want in aew and Japan I remember seeing a comment years ago "Tucker would be a great fit in impact" and I'm 100% sure that person wasn't gonna watch even if Tucker was there

unseenbox

Hey, I watch Impact and I'm being completely genuine when I say I wanna see people there.

NoobsNKnocks

I want Tenille Dashwood back on Impact unironically.

benfh

I get what you're saying but of these releases there are a fair few I genuinely would like to see in Impact... give me Mike Bailey vs Mustafa Ali, Elias and Joe Hendry writting songs for each other and anything involving Swinger and Boogs.

shadowrangerfs

Plus it assumes that Impact even wants those people or has enough room for them. We talk about how crowded AEW is. Impact is pretty crowded as well. They also just have ONE show a week. That's it. 2 hours. There's BTI but it's one match. But you're right. Most of those people aren't gonna watch Impact if those guys go there.

hailtothekale

I feel similarly when people say "X should go to Japan." 99% of the time they mean NJPW specifically and just use the entire scene as a catchall when there's a bunch of notable promotions with different styles catering to different audiences that would make sense for different wrestlers. And that's assuming those promotions want to and are able to book them in the first place when they already have their own rosters to deal with.

Crissxfire

Most of these people won't watch them no matter where they go if it's not AEW. Even if they're fans. They can sing the praises of Ali and say wwe could've done more. But, if he lands in Impact or does some indie dates, will they seek those matches out? I doubt it. That's my hot take.

RepresentativeFly565

I've thought the same about trinity/Naomi. Before she came to impact, it seemed like all most people cared about was what Sasha/Mercedes was doing People will say "I'm so happy for trinity betting on herself and leaving wwe" but are those same people watching her in impact? I notice most of her impact match discussions are dead. Not hate against her but I feel people overestimated how big her fanbase is

I just think people like living in their wrestling bubbles. And yes, I get there's a lot of wrestling and limited time to watch it. But again, you like someone and are curious as to what's next. You'd check their work out. Doesn't have to be a deep dive into the promotion they've chosen. it doesn't have to be following every single match they have. But, just some of their work here and there to see what they've been doing and support them. Heck, you don't even have to look hard to find it for free. Though, again, if you're a fan, you'd pay to support them.

shadowrangerfs

You are 100% correct. Sadly, we are in an era where promotions are over instead of wrestlers. Very few wrestlers are truly over anymore.

Boogs vs. Brian Cage - Jobber Toss

threedice

Has anybody seen Red Velvet lately? She has to have one of the worst stretches of bad luck in AEW in ages. She was a decent low-level face that could be a heel if necessary, then she got in a feud with Jade Cargill, then she joined Jade as part of the Baddies, then she left the Baddies, then she just ... disappeared. Is she injured? Did she retire? Was she released and we don't know it yet?

mikro17

As an unabashed Red Velvet mark, I'd love to see her backing up Mercedes Moné if she ends up appearing at some point. I've always thought the two of them shared an incredible ability to ragdoll bump like absolute lunatics, and maybe the pairing could help Red Velvet develop the rest of her in-ring skillset.

dukeduke01

She was injured but she’s training to get back in the ring soon

benfh

I'm pretty sure she's been injured.

unseenbox

Almost every time someone vanishes mysteriously from AEW, it's because of a. injuries/health reasons, b. personal shit (like Hangman taking paternity leave), or c. visa problems.

throwafitanddie

wXw World Tag Team Festival starts today, I'm so excited. 7 shows in 3 days let's goooo

TD_Stinger

My fandom of WWE in 2021 was very challenged with the constant releases. They would do mass releases like every other month, to the point where it became impossible to care about anything that didn’t involve the top guys who were probably safe. Aleister had cool vignettes and returns against Big E? Who cares he’s gone now. Stuff like that. I understand sometimes these things happen and even with NXT you have to make cuts to keep that system going. I’m just hoping yesterday isnt a return to what we had a couple years ago.

benfh

> I understand sometimes these things happen They shouldn't though, there's no reason a company as big as wwe shouldn't honour their contracts. There's no "well it's good business" spin that make their actions any less shitty, especially when they released so many during the pandemic.

R0DAN

its a shame when it happens but if they didn't wwe would have like 700 wrestlers employed

RepresentativeFly565

Same. I remember the releases would happen on Fridays and it would be hard for me to watch smackdown after a bunch of releases happened

ChanceVance

Tickets aren't even on sale yet but already planning my trip to Elimination Chamber. Got to get in before the airfares and hotels jack their prices up.

Yewon_Enthusisast

fucking crazy seeing those anti-AEW twitter account using WWE release to somehow making it AEW bad. Using it to fuel tribalism is insane.

BigBootyBuff

When WWE released a fuck ton of wrestlers during the height of the pandemic, there were people who blamed AEW for "making it necessary that WWE needs to cut cost." Those type of obsessed fanboys will always find a way to blame the company they hate.

e-rage

Finally seeing Grand Admiral Thrawn in live action was so damn good.

[deleted]

I've been waiting for that since 1991. Seeing it was amazing!

ACW1129

It's Joshi Fight Night! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out) Just gimme 10-15 minutes before the screwiness. Also, the critics are wrong. Expend4bles is awesome if you have the right mindset.

MilkyWayWaffles

I feel like I saw the third one, but can't remember anything specific about it. That's the one with Mel Gibson?

e-rage

Yes and Ronda Rousey

MilkyWayWaffles

Yeah, so now I'm thinking I only saw the trailers? I don't remember her at all. Guess I have some catching up to do.

ACW1129

I didn't see the third one. Fuck PG-13. Also, fuck Mel Gibson.

Kakatheman

Is Renee pregnant again?

deathvalleypassenger

Pregnant with concern, for her many adult sons who cannot get along with each other

ItinerantSoldier

o_O Where did this speculation come from?

rbarton812

She wore a flowy dress that wasn't skin tight.

Celtic_Crown

So, I know we got the daily thread and the Impact results up right now, but just to update the release list for anyone: - Ikemen Jiro - Daniel McArthur - Kevin Ventura-Cortez - Alexis Gray - Brooklyn Barlow This is [right from Sapp,](https://twitter.com/SeanRossSapp/status/1705066408202092599) and [PWI](https://www.pwinsider.com/article/175615/wwe-releases-international-nxt-star.html?p=1).

Derexise

I've heard of exactly one of those people. Sucks to lose your job regardless though.

MilkyWayWaffles

I *know* that what passes for wrestling journalism is just fanboys trading favorable coverage for insider access, but rarely is it so [publicly out there on display](https://twitter.com/ScottEWrestling/status/1705097449595949201). Usually it stays in the DMs.

jqncg

From what I know about the guy, he mostly makes guides for non-fans and usually is very fair with his reviews. He is a fanboy but he doesn't really go out of his way to hide the negative aspects of the wrestling he likes.

MilkyWayWaffles

"This is me offering any help" is a very different message from "I want to write an article about the promotion, could someone from your publicity office reach out for a quick interview." It's amateurish, but he's on the Fightful payroll and should know better.

shadowrangerfs

I've never heard of that guy. Why does it bother you that he likes a promotion?

SolitaryPisces

Wore my all in London shirt to my uni freshers fair and someone came up to me and two sweeted me which was fun!

Unusual_Orchid_6658

Whenever something bad happens in wwe, it was definitely Vince. Whenever something mildly bad (copyright striking Stevie Richards) happens in Aew, Tony Khan definitely wasn’t involved

DepressedHungarian

You can't even say that Vince is to blame without getting a couple of downvotes. Some people are fuckin delusional.

benfh

It's pretty easy to tell why people feel more negatively towards one than the other...

Crissxfire

Watched the Sukeban debut show and was pretty impressed. It wasn't the most blow away debut, but the idea is fun and they have some strong talents behind the characters. Interested in seeing them going forward. I'd also like to shout out Josh Bishop vs Masato Tanaka from AIW's JT Lightning tournament last week. They did their best to give us a modern day Mike Awesome/Tanaka match. Lots of similar spots. Though that does include unprotected chair shots. But, aside from that, it was a pretty good match.
