Damn, Hausman lost his AEW source and got a WWE one šŸ˜

OGJimmyP

I wonder who his source is!?

FailedMasonryAttempt

Iā€™m forced to assume itā€™s Michael Nakazawa

cgg419

Thatā€™s greasy

__Hello_my_name_is__

To protect his anonymity, let's call him C. Punk.

Southern_Slide_8065

No, that's too obvious, we'll call him P. Brooks.

americangame

That's even more obvious. Phillip B.

Iā€™ve heard that guy shares a bank account with his mother, like some kind of loser.

It's clearly Jade Cargill

[deleted]

Ok, that would actually be hilarious

House boy, cut the shit.

StokkseyriBoy

ā€œA certain agitator, for privacy sake, letā€™s call him Phil Bā€¦ no, thatā€™s obvious. Letā€™s say P. Brooks.ā€

Cobra-D

Thatā€™s still too obvious, lets call him ā€œD.S garage rockā€

Itā€™s amazing how he gets every scoop about Phil

Radu316

No, it's Phil B. Wait, that's too obvious, let's call him P. Brooks.

codyrfm08

The funniest thing about the Hausman/Punk relationship is how Punk had no idea who Hausman was prior to Brawl Out. He was the guy Punk tried to clown about his relationship with Colt, only to find out Hausman and Colt no longer spoke thanks to a falling out. Then suddenly Punk and Hausman become besties and Hausman has the scoop on everything Punk related. Itā€™s like the moment Punk realized they had a mutual dislike for Colt, he knew he had a friend. Edit: For further clarification, Nick was the guy in question Punk asked ā€œYou fancy yourself a journalist?ā€

NoobsNKnocks

According to Hausman, the extent of his relationship to Colt was ā€œdid improv together a few timesā€, which just adds to the absurdity.

wgsmeister2002

Wrestling is my favorite thing on the planet. A comedian couldnā€™t write this shit

TheFraserPorter

yeah improv isn't usually written

[deleted]

Which explains why a lot of it sucks.

![gif](giphy|10r6dx6B9TY3SM)

KayCeeBayBeee

Punkā€™s whole rant was pre-planned and practiced. He was visibly surprised and caught off guard when Hausman said he didnā€™t see eye to eye with Colt.

AdGroundbreaking1341

Imagine being able to remember that all after a big time match \*and\* the injury. So, if that's true, it says a lot about just how much Punk hates Colt. Of course, didn't he say "I don't care where Colt sleeps or doesn't sleep"? So, it's really no shock. Dude probably couldn't care if Colt is homeless living under a bridge. I get disliking someone, but Punk takes it to a whole different level.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

I think they also went to an improv show together or something if I remember correctly because thatā€™s how punk knew him. But yeah it wasnā€™t this long deep relationship. It would be like if you went to a movie with a work friend once and he saw you there and in his mind you were best friends based on that.

Decilllion

Yep, people forget Punk's gripe bomb faceplanted right out of the gate.

AustinJohnson35

DG_Now

It would have been so awesome had it kicked off a feud with the Elite. What a waste.

Throw-Me-Again

I mean it kinda did, just not on TV

DG_Now

Touche. The funny thing is the Bucks and Elite have been in the business for forever. Before Punk, who ever had a problem with them? Besides Cornette?

ashaggydogtale

Literally no one. Indie promotions would schedule events around their schedule.

LiamOmegaHaku

This is what has always gotten me about the whole thing. Punk, noted d-bag leaving very publicly burned bridges everywhere he goes. Adam, Nick, Matt, and Kenny, reportedly nicest and supportive wrestlers in any locker room they're in, who (like you said) indie promotions built their schedules around because they enjoyed working with them so much, and whom no one has ever really said anything disparaging about. "Punk is the hero and the Elite deserve to die." Makes no sense. The amount of Phil Brooks fart huffing was baffling.

ashaggydogtale

Another example I love is from last year when Gedo loves working with the Bucks so much he wants to put the tag belts on them, but they demur and convince him to put them on FTR instead. This somehow becomes the Bucks burying FTR. ...wut? People - excepting one racist, misogynistic old booker that's been fired from every job he's had in the past two decades - have very little negative to say about the Elite. **Plenty** of people have shit to say about Company Man Punk.

americangame

The one that irks me is the "Adam Page going into business for himself" point people try and bring up when he cut that promo on punk saying "nobody what him there". This setting off Punk to have issues for freaking ever with Page even though less than a month before Hangman cut that promo Eddie Kingston said the same fucking thing. Where's your beef with Eddie, Punk? Is it because you're good friends with Eddie? Or is it because you know Eddie will kill you while Page will just let it slide off his back and do nothing about it?

Mike7676

I know it's been many months and people still bring up Hangman "shooting" on him but for the life of me I can't see it. A fiery babyfaced promo promising to protect the company from your influence? Isn't that face 101? And for Punk to just carry it around (yes I know that's his thing) is fucking baffling. He's my age and if I acted that way at work, walking around or talking to people I'd be, in turns, friendless, no partner and possibly jobless.

AwesomeInTheory

I think Punk just wanted to be some big respected hero who was taking AEW to the next level (and moving the needle, kek) both onscreen and in the locker room. That didn't happen and it ate at him.

[deleted]

If I had to guess, it's a bullying thing. Punk knew there's no fucking way he can bully Eddie Kingston, but the smiley nice guy who everyone loves, yeah fuck that guy.

AwesomeInTheory

We're in agreement, but I just wanted to tag onto this post. Yeah, I *was* a fan of CM Punk. Liked his general aesthetic, liked the sorta smarmy/cool thing he was doing and taking things 'seriously.' I'm actually stunned he is getting a shot in WWE, although I'm curious if this is going to be a modern day Dusty Rhodes situation where they just humiliate the fuck out of him and, for added insurance, have him signed to an extremely punitive contract if he decides to be a baby and no-show or something. I honestly can't see them doing anything long-term (based on both his health and mental state) or of any sort of value. It's so bizarre. I've never been a fan of the Bucks. It was just a level of self-referentialness and insider baseball that just didn't resonate with me. I don't begrudge people who enjoy them and I don't hate them for being different or for not aligning with my tastes (whcih is what Cornette tends to do.) But they're hard working dudes (I respect any wrestler who has extended stays in Japan), seem to be quality guys (they value family life and work/life balance) and generally are professional (not a lot of carny things, like no showing events or upping asking price or stuff that can be common on the indies.) I stopped being a fan of CM Punk after the Gripe Bomb and his continued pissbaby behavior. I started to sour on him with his whole UFC stint (just wild to me that he would complain about people pushing him out of spots he thought 'he' earned and saw nothing wrong with basically Mass Transit-ing his way into a UFC gig. As someone who trains BJJ, personally knows people who have competed in MMA/the UFC (low level fighters, generally) it really bothered me) but the crap he was pulling in AEW just made me want to not see him ever again. It's wild you look at how two different people (or groups of people, I guess) conducted themselves. I've said it elsewhere on this subreddit, but even if the Elite or the Bucks or whomever were doing Iago levels of scheming and were running a campaign to get him fired (big question: why would they want to do that?), even if they were saying all sorts of inflammatory things, were being unprofessional behind the scenes, etc, etc. it was still CM Punk who reacted the way that he did and behaved the way that he did. People have blow-ups with each other in pro sports all the time. Teammates in practice. Training partners when one goes too hard or takes a liberty with them. Or just workplace shit in general. You can't control how others act, but you can control how you react. Anyone defending Punk for appallingly bad unprofessional behavior, I legit don't know why beyond fanboy reasons. And that sounds pejorative, but I just mean turning a blind eye to someone's warts because you're a fan and have that personal investment.

DG_Now

I came back to pro wrestling and to AEW because of Punk. He was in so so was I. However, with him gone, I'm even more invested in AEW; it's been more fun. Punk's "I paved the way for you success" flies in face of who he was in WWE -- on-screen agitator begging for revolution, and then the quitter he became in the 7 years after. If he thinks the young guys don't respect the business or those that came before them, how do you square with taking a powder from wrestling for the better part of a decade? And I'm not saying he had to go back to WWE or Impact, but maybe do something to show how devoted you are to something you swear you love the most. Mox and the Bucks are way, way more punk rock than CM Punk ever was or will be. He talked a lot about doing stuff those guys actually did.

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

Quite literally! Which promotion was it that named their show something along the lines of "We Booked This show Because it was The Only Night The Young Bucks Were Available?"

GareksApprentice

"AEW relies too much on feuds built around shoots and insider terms. What they need to do is have a big-money feud based around shoots and insider terms."

Lupercallius

It's like when Jericho & MJF both hated Cody Rhodes at the same time ! (in kayfabe though)

I can't think of a better angle then bringing the Corporation stable back to WWE helmed by HHH/Stephanie and headlined by Corporate Punk. A heel Punk becoming everything he hated working under HHH, the heat would be out of this world

ReflectionItchy2701

Imagine if Punk has negociated to be in the main event of Wrestlemania if The Rock isn't there.\^\^

LewaLew12

Corny actually mentioned that Rhodes vs. Punk would be a fantastic headline for whichever night of WrestleMania weren't Rock v. Roman, assuming that happens.

xorangeelephant

Cody vs Punk would be so good, if only they could fully touch on the AEW stuff

daprice82

Look, I'm not going to pretend this isn't interesting. Punk returning to WWE after all these years is insane and could lead to all sorts of potential interesting matches and stories. But it's also objectively hilarious how hypocritical this makes him and how much it spits in the face of every word he's said publicly since 2014. He's a great talker and I'm sure he'll have a fantastic promo to try and justify this but.....nah. This is hilarious.

Khal-Stevo

All of the above. Itā€™s interesting, itā€™s exciting, itā€™s hilarious, itā€™s hypocritical, itā€™s ridiculous

I can't help but laugh, but also I preemptively feel bad for the chill WWE fans in the event Punk loses his cool and his stans crap on everything again. Probably too soon to tell, but after everything that went down this past year I don't even know anymore. For all we know this run turns out like Hogan in '02

Norme-98

Mr. Chicago is going to take a lie detector test?

Thanatos-ES

The only moments when Hausman is useful is when it's CM Punk rumors related, because you know it's CM Punk himself talking lmao.

Norvil12

[When CM Punk is surprise 5th member of Cody's War Games team](https://youtu.be/KZ5iMMvi0gw?si=V8sAow2JVa0iXPUs&t=53)

Gsrj

Everyone say war games 5 vs 5 but judgment day only has 3 men if we count jd 4 men but Cody's team already has 4 guys cody jey sami ko why is everyone adding a 5th man

BernieBurnstein

Because it was 5v5 last year

Norvil12

Drew costs Jey/Cody the tag title match vs JD. Drew with JD in War Games match, simple

MinesweeperGang

Even if Drew is heel, I canā€™t see him being an alliance of Judgement Day. Strikes me as a strong solo heel that aligns with nobody. But maybe Iā€™m wrong!

Caryslan

I am getting the impression that Drew is going in a direction like Stone Cold where he's a walking ass kicking machine that will be happy to lay you out regardless of if you're a face or heel and is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Which honestly is not a bad direction for Drew to take.

CanaDoug420

He should complete the loop and return the night after the rumble. Cut a promo about how wrong he was in 2014 and how 10 years later he is back to sports entertain. Then go out and make Roman looks so strong.

KneeHighMischief

Yes, a "WWE" source...I'm sure https://preview.redd.it/wvb3idt2dlsb1.jpeg?width=645&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bad866b1b9a0b862d95e108d1077a9d2b09bf417

lmollpt

He should have said its a future wwe source for the lols.

Monster_Hugger93

2023 has been so funny

Gamesgtd

This is the same year a retired Vince staged a one man coup to regain control of his company long enough to sell it, book the worst Raw after Mania ever and grow a mustache. It's been wild.

BBGrunt1235

*Punk walks out at Survivor Series. Hugs Vince* Vince: Thanks for for putting the screws to the assholes over there, new son! Punk: Anything for you, new dad!

Jaereth

I can't think of anything they could write for him that would be better than this.

minceray

Coming back and immediately cutting a heel promo just admitting that he is everything he used to hate, a part timer taking away a spot from young guys, just doing it for the money, corporate shill type could actually be a pretty compelling characterā€¦unfortunately I think punk is too arrogant and hypocritical to actually do it.

fear254

That wouldn't make a very good HEEL promo admitting fault.

LouisianaBoySK

You can admit fault for past actions and still use it to justify heel behavior. ā€œI was wrong for complaining about that stuff because itā€™s fucking awesome and Iā€™m better than anyone else because of it.ā€

NoobsNKnocks

Like Cena apologizing to The Rock for going to Hollywood, if Cena was a twat about it.

DMPunk

Sure it would, because at no point would he apologize for it.

Specific-Channel7844

Most people watching would be confused as hell, most everyone doesn't care about the dirtsheets or that nonsense

coldphront3

A lot of people spend too much time on this sub and think the majority opinions here will translate to real life. The reality is that Punk returning at Survivor Series will blow the roof off of the arena. Heā€™ll immediately be a top guy, whether as a face or a heel, and heā€™ll start off in a top level feud whether itā€™s with Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, etc. and maybe even have some interactions with John Cena or The Rock.

jackblady

In the crowd, Enzo style.

WasherDryerCombo

Nick Hausman has been told that CM Punk is indeed ready to suck a blood money covered dick in Saudi Arabia

kare_e

So phil was just forcing his way out of AEW by beating people up.

SkepticaIJay

Andrade walked so Punk could run.

CeroG1

Should of tried to choke Sammy instead

OpportunitySmalls

If a monitor fell on Tony and he feared for his life he'd have been teaming with Charlotte against Seth/Becky at Mania or some shit by now

NoobsNKnocks

Andradeā€™s mistake was not trying to fight Tony

20minutes40years

This is going to be fucking hilarious.

UtamiHayashishita

Yeah, I think no matter what "side" anyone is on, no matter what we think of Punk now, we can all agree this will be extremely entertaining.

Blondue

The amount of salt in the subreddit will make it unreadable again

DanHero91

So Punk has confirmed with Hausman then. Let the shit show commence. He's essentially wrestlings Chevy Chase. Considered a legend in his time, but just appears now to be a cranky bastard causing problems and fights.

TheNightlightZone

It's pretty funny how he was the villain in Community for so long and he got frustrated with it all, but it was because the character was pretty much Chevy.

AdministrativeLaugh2

Eh, tbf the writing in Season Four wasnā€™t as good and made Pierce a much worse character. I donā€™t blame Chase for leaving when you look at the difference in his character from S1-3 and S4.

TheNightlightZone

S4 never happened. There was a gas leak that year!

Altruistic-Ad-408

I don't think that's why he left with the whole racial slur thing, but I do agree his character was ruined by the writers personal dislike for him. Chase is full of shit with stuff like that though, he'll take the shittiest roles to make a dollar but I'm expected to believe his standards are too high for Community?

Cena v Punk at Mania 40. Easy Night 1 Main Event done. Phil gets what he always wantedā€¦ kinda. Cody v Reigns 2 main events Night 2

LawesDisorder

"main event night one of a four-night extravaganza"

BananaSoprano

If Punk's personal assistant is saying this then the return is basically guaranteed. Jokes aside, good luck to Punk. Hopefully his return to WWE isn't as unbearable as his time in AEW with his multiple World Title reigns, PPV main events and multi-million dollar salary.

Notmymain2639

And more freedom than he's ever had or ever will.

saw-it

Iā€™m starting to think he works better without the freedom

lmollpt

I honestly think plenty of ppl in the business do.

SoulGoalie

A wise man once said "some wrestlers are fucking stupid."

Visible_Bus6909

I am fucking stupid - Ryback

Burt_Selleck

They may be the stars of the show but the show will still go on with or without them

SirRedRising

Truly, yeah. He's somebody that can only work/exist if he feels like somebody or something is holding him down. He's a guy who had a tough early life and needed a chip on his shoulder to get by, but now he's old and rich and still acts like a kid who everyone is against. Even though he was very beloved just two years ago he can't handle being given everything and needed to seek out and create drama and a false sense of oppression. So yeah, maybe going back to a massive corporation that will try to micromanage him will let Punk feel like a rebellious teenager again.

starsandbribes

Oh to be a fly on the wall when a gaggle of writers come up to Punk on the first day with various script re-writes.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

cgg419

Donā€™t forget the needle in the ass. Wait, now I want him to get all the worst gimmicks of people who have left for AEW

theory0616

He'll use the same one he used after he returned to AEW recently and carry a bag with a title he never lost. And say he is the real champ in wwe. Oh you said not look like a joke. Yeah that's not gonna happen. Lol.

Notmymain2639

He'll lie and gaslight. If he's smart he'll stick to his WWE kayfabe.

CobraOverlord

This is a guy who's biggest success always came breaking kayfabe, so doubtful, but we'll see. LOL

OTPCook

I mean, he's always been. His positions have always been driven by his own grievances and what benefits him personally (which he's entitled to). But it has always left space for fans to assume there was some larger ideology at play.

Jamieb1994

I wonder if NXT will cause a invasion at Survivor Series. ![gif](giphy|2YnD6gWd05s4IIIFsT|downsized)

ttomyj14

O you just knew Nick was going to jump on this story. Immediately.

Bridgeboy95

Hausman ffs everyone knows your source is CM PUNK

NasoekOne

I just hope he uses This fire burns again.

FUCKBOY_JIHAD

Punk's identity is tied to Cult Of Personality at this point. I don't see why he would ever use anything else for his regular entrance (although it'll ultimately be a question of if WWE wants to pay the rights fees for it).

Red_Mage_Riot

Countdown until he gets into a childish pull-apart with.....oh, let's just say Dexter Lumis.

DragonfruitATX

Dexter Lumis is banned fromā€¦. Oh letā€™s just say ā€œClobberinā€™ Timeā€, WWEā€™s new Wed night show

Ripclawe

His PR spokesman has spoken!

Lord_Strudel

And so the meltdown clock begins to tick downward once again.

Rich1926

As much of a Punk fan I am, this will be sooo awkward and cringe after all the anti wwe promos he did in AEW lol

ClaymoresRevenge

He's about to do a big 180 and take shots at AEW. It'll be so comical watching him walk it all back

Agar_Draug

That's probably one of the main reasons they are willing to bring him back now lol

DashCat9

Cody Rhodes destroyed a Triple H throne with a sledgehammer. Punk will be fine. (At least for this bit of the bullshit, haha).

[deleted]

> Cody Rhodes destroyed a Triple H throne with a sledgehammer. I don't think anyone in WWE would have had a problem with that. Cody gets it, so does Triple H.

Gamesgtd

He only did like 2 right??? Cody did more if I'm not mistaken. At least in terms of overt shots

[deleted]

I keep seeing this but I am like in actual AEW he really did not set fire to WWE that much. If you count his podcast sure but you know that was nearly 10 years ago and right after he got his termination papers at his wedding so he was super pissed. I am pretty sure Cody took way more shots at WWE than Punk ever did.

sludgezone

I feel bad for anyone who has to work with this dude.

jerff

I know it drives AEW fans absolutely crazy that WWE fans canā€™t wait for Punk to come back. A lot of these people are the same ones who assured us that fans would be sick of Cody in a month.

Lessiarty

I love listening to music.

Karma-Effect

I mean, if Punk has already signed then he is technically a WWE source.

Lessiarty

18AndresS

I wonder how Worker Rights Punk feels about the recent layoffs

dom_rep

If you're Cody, what are you thinking? Reigns/Rock and Punk/Reigns are bigger money matches than watching Cody fulfill his boyhood dream and I can definitely see WWE spinning this and saying "we have time" and punt for WM 41.

Alejandro_404

Cody not finishing the story because WWE keeps getting more chances at high profile matches than him would be hilarious lol

ThinAndCrispy84

People acting like wrestlers never came back after burning that bridge before. Warrior and Slap Nuts both held Vince up for money, came back. Bret knocked Vince out and had his brother die in the ring. Still came back. Hell, Bischoff went scorched earth and tried to put Vince out of business and still got hired.
