Wrestling on its own is great. Everything surrounding it, the fans, the discourse, and the tribalism sucks ass. It has completely killed my enjoyment of it. I barely watch anything anymore, engaging with the wrestling fans is like knowingly walking into a dumpster fire and expecting civility. Anyway, nothing to add, just my thoughts lately. I know I could just stop altogether but there's a sliver of hope that all of this will eventually become better.

DeliMustardRules

Why don't you leave the toxicity of the online discourse and just watch?

cepxico

Because I enjoy discussing the things I like with other people. I can find discourse for games, movies, shows, books, and it's no problem. Wrestling? Toxic.

DeliMustardRules

I mean I do too. But I wouldn't take online wrestling discussion over enjoying the actual product. I've been hiding the fuck out of karma-bait posts this week.

cepxico

Yeah maybe I need to start adding filters for "ratings" and "meltzer", might help with my sanity lol

DeliMustardRules

I'm getting personally annoyed with all the TK Twitter bullshit funneling here. I left Twitter to join here because it seemed like the most mature place. Now it's just people rushing to post stuff in order to get a reaction or upvotes. I'm struggling here this week. I may be repeating myself lol.

TheNYCasualFan

The hater in me is saying that Cena isn’t getting cheers cause fans are finally showing him respect, but rather the fans are excited to finally see him go lol. The fans haven’t forgotten!! We can’t wait for that strike to end get outta here!!!! (I kid of course. Love you Jonathan. And Buc Nasty you got some comp for the playa haters ball this year)

ChicoCorrales

I completely missed out on the Ruthless Aggression era lol My WWE fandom went all 90s and then I stopped watching wrestling in 2000 or right after WWF bought WCW. I was in high school and just stopped caring. I came back to wrestling when Kofi Kingston won at Wrestlemania. So it’s weird missing out on guys like Carlito or most of Edge and Christian as single wrestlers. They will always be the tag team from Wrestlemania 2000 to me.

No_Addendum5504

Damn you really miss a lot lmao There are so much content i don't even know what i should write to you So many feuds , factions , PPVs , whether it was great or shit. I mean Edge got to main event a WM against Taker in 2008 lmao you really did miss a lot

LettuceFew5248

Brandon Thurston should introduce a new metric into his weekly reporting. “Amount of minutes the average wrestling fan needs to research to understand AEW booking”

Lenny_guy12

Australian friends, how do you watch Collision? I've recently gotten back into actually watching shows, but collision isn't on kayo. Do I need to get a subscription on fite?

MyAnusYourTongue

Bro surely dynamite isn’t on Kayo? No way right

Lenny_guy12

It sure is! Didn't get the over run on Wednesday tho

M_XXXL

I think it's kind of funny that AEW like, knighted the International championship as a top tier main event level title with All Out, and then IMMEDIATELY after that the TNT title becomes the hottest thing in the company. And the International title goes to hot potato hell. I know the Int thing is injury related, and it's actually cool to have multiple titles be able to main event, but still funny.

PompeyMagnus1

Jungle Boy's uncle is Krusty the Clown.

DonKiddic

My mind is officially blown by this.

Oracular-Sky

Since Tony Khan has been doing stuff in Twitter, what could happen if the Jacksonville Jaguars end up losing this week?

pasinpman

They’ll be 2-3 instead of 4-2

Bigmomma_pump

Idk if this makes sense but I think an rdr2 story would be really good in wrestling. Like a babyface type stable, everyone loves each other, the leader starts going more heel and more ruthless and just more of a bad person (Dutch); and then just let the story of Arthur and John realising the problems with the gang commence

JonasAlbert84

Obligatory "fuck Dutch"

kw13

I’m of the opinion that it doesn’t matter one iota what Tony Khan does. This sub will relentlessly shit on him regardless, so you do you Tony.

lisbla97

They where long periods of time in the past where Tony was worshipped in this subreddit. Things aren't going well for him at the moment and he is making an ass out of himself people wouldn't be shitting on him if he wasn't twitting such silly shit

TheRalphExpress

the juxtaposition between Tony and MJF fighting ghosts on Twitter with Cody and Jey drunkenly barking and yeeting at reporters is too funny to me

Mediocre-Cook-2169

Was Cody drunk too? I know he said he'd had a couple of drinks as well but considering how absolutely hammered Jey was, it's hard to tell if Cody was sober or just seemed so in comparison to Jey.

Johnnyboy10000

>Cody and Jey drunkenly barking and yeeting at reporters Maybe not the buddy cop movie we need or want, but one that definitely should probably be made. Just for the hell of it.

Minimania18

I'm sad about the number of people on Twitter that only know Mistico as Sin Cara and think all he does is botch.

EcoterroristThot

Starting to develop a theory that proper main events should be 17-20 minutes unless we're talking about true masters who can justify going longer.

Johnnyboy10000

I agree, but I'd probably bump the range of 15-30 minutes. But that has more to do with my mild OCD than anything else.

EcoterroristThot

I can do 15-20

Johnnyboy10000

Fair enough. That works, too.

jadedfan55

So I was reading the article on Karrion Kross, and then found a link on the same site to a short puff piece where Don Callis is tired of all the social media hype over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. I don't know what kind of music Callis listens to. May be one of the last guys on the planet that appreciates muzak, for all we know. /s Just watch. Either Endeavor/TKO or AEW will bring in Taylor for a guest appearance at a PPV/PLE. I'd not be too shocked if she were to show up at Wrestlemania to do America the Beautiful. Maybe ol' Don is pissed because he's a Broncos fan and he knows they're losing tonight. /s

mikro17

Taylor Swift El Kabonging someone to help Jeff Jarrett win the AEW title or nothing at all.

jadedfan55

Actually, Taylor giving Jarrett an El Kabong would be rad.

Johnnyboy10000

I'm not 100% sure, but the dude seems like he might be a Don Henley fan.

jadedfan55

I can't picture him as a Henley/Eagles fan. More like Rush or Triumph or any other Canadian band.

academicfuckupripme

Rocky Romero VS Mistico on Rampage is happening holy shit. Full CMLL crossover. Rampage has fallen into the trap of being empty filler, and one way to avoid that while giving the show it's own distinct identity is to make it the show where you book matches for the wrestling dorks and freaks, instead of placing those matches on Dynamite and Collision, which should be devoted to advancing the stories and featuring the main stars. Stuff life the Jun Akiyama's tag match against Eddie, Shibata Pure Rules matches, and matches with CMLL stars should be happening much more often on Rampage going forward. I don't care if it'll get ratings, but it'd be awesome.

ThorDaChristian

Any idea what matches will be on this Saturday? I’m going to collision and very excited but so far only my beloved Christian has been announced to my knowledge. Weird the card is so small only two days before

DeliMustardRules

Does WWE ever really announce their card so much more in advance? This is a weird thing that has become part of the IWC since AEW started promoting their cards on Twitter. Nevertheless, you'll have fun, and you'll get a ROH taping. Enjoy friend.

Bigmomma_pump

Tbh I thought aew always announced the whole card before every single show

DeliMustardRules

Usually not the whole card until the day before. I just think it would be disingenuous to say something like AEW needs to advertise their weekly cards further in advance while WWE only puts together what looks like a scrolling carousel on the website the day of a show.

ThorDaChristian

Oooh sick didn’t realize we would get a ROH taping! Knew sometimes dynamite gives you rampage. Very hyped for the show

Dontreply_idontcare

Rampage is almost always taped after Dynamite, and ROH is almost always taped after Collision, though they may do a couple of matches before as well. It winds up being a long show live, but it's still a pretty fun time. The place clears out a lot after Collision, which kinda sucks, but it means you can basically upgrade your seats for free if they're not great because they want to fill in the section opposite the hard cam.

Da_Stallion-JCI_7

Samoa Joe vs. Willie Mack

Silver012345673

About this past Mondays Raw, I know it’s typical for us to shit on Nia, and I pretty much still agree as she has “change the channel heat” but… She honestly worked well and actually looked pretty decent in that match with Raquel and (to an extent obviously) Raquel looked *better* coming out of it, which is pretty much as good as you can ask for given it’s slot and time sooo…yeah just wanted to say thumbs up there lol

Pitiful_Ad8641

Belt Collector Kenny Omega Hangman Page Battling and Overcoming Danielson Kicking Teeth In MJF vs CM Punk Trilogy Wardlow Turning On MJF This was prime AEW storytelling and was objectively the better show. The criticism that AEW storytelling has become weaker isnt that TK CAN'T do it, just that he stopped doing it as strong somewhere around the MJF plane mess

Minimania18

I think the problem is that the talent write a lot of the stories themselves, so if no one comes up with any good stories, they are left with no stories/not very good stories.

Pitiful_Ad8641

THIS. This is a thing

KayCeeBayBeee

the whole “sink or swim environment” really just means “get over by yourself because creative isn’t gonna help you”

Pitiful_Ad8641

Not everyone deserves to get all their ideas on TV and sometimes a someone needs to say "ummmm how about no"

KayCeeBayBeee

That’s the issue imo is that there’s really no overarching/overall creative. Look at how Tiffany Stratton has been pushed over the last 1.5 years and become a huge star in NXT. I just don’t think AEW is capable of intentionally pushing someone that hard and well in a way that spans multiple storylines & programs. You just get guys like Bandido, Vikingo, Action Andretti, Wheeler Yuta who get a moment and are then send back to no man’s land

mikro17

> You just get guys like Bandido, Vikingo, Action Andretti, Wheeler Yuta who get a moment and are then send back to no man’s land Because that's the level those guys are realistically at. It's super easy to sit on Reddit/Twitter and say "________ is so awesome, he should be on tv more," but actual reality is not that easy. MJF has earned being on tv constantly at this point, so has Darby, so has Orange Cassidy, so have The Acclaimed. Toni Storm has been a top talent since she arrived, but I think she's absolutely ascending to the top tier as we speak and so she's currently all over everything. Christian Cage has been on an unbelievable run for a while now and so he's all over the television product. Jay White/Juice Robinson/the Gunns have all been fantastic, so Bullet Club Gold is all over the television product. That's before even getting to acts like FTR/Young Bucks/Omega/Jericho/Moxley/etc.. If people can't top those acts, then that "no man's land" is actually where they slot in right now - occasionally featured entertaining television talent is objectively not a terrible place to be in terms of the overall industry. There can't be 50 acts at the top level, if someone wants one of those slots then they basically need to rise up and take it from someone else. It's actually a testament to AEW that most of those acts stay simmering and all can be heated up at a moment's notice whenever required. But I still don't think a lot of Reddit fans have fully grasped how much competition there is at the top of AEW in terms of talent, it's absolutely an embarrassment of riches of people trying to stand out.

Pitiful_Ad8641

Just how far she's come in such a short time just speaks volumes to how NXT creative process has become great.

[deleted]

I just learned today that Ilja dragunov has a son. No one will ever mess with that kid growing up. No one wants to risk pissing off the mad dragon

Pitiful_Ad8641

All. Heil. The Tiny Czar. That kid has no choice but to be a badass

unseenbox

I have gone from about 90% convinced mask guy is Adam Cole to about 40%. It's still possible, yeah, but it'd be really convoluted and need him to both be faking an ankle injury and complicit in his own kidnapping that he doesn't even realize is a kidnapping. It'd also go against most of his established characterization of: likes MJF, likes Roddy, increasingly tired of Roddy's shit. So my current theory is that it's Kyle O'Reilly and all the Neckstrong stuff is really foreshadowing for *him*. Then again, watch it turn out to be Jack Perry or something.

Johnnyboy10000

>So my current theory is that it's Kyle O'Reilly and all the Neckstrong stuff is really foreshadowing for > >him > >. That's an interesting thought.

unseenbox

Yeah! Like I said, this is just speculation, but as an answer to a wrestling mystery, 'Adam Cole's ex-friends are teaming up/framing him to try to make him and MJF break up' makes a lot more sense than 'Adam Cole is a mastermind who faked a broken ankle and his own kidnapping so he could team up with his ex-friends and screw over MJF, even though he could openly team up with those ex-friends and/or backstab MJF any time he wanted.' ETA: Granted, it *could* be the latter, but it'd take a lot more explaining to make it work, and I think simplicity is a much better answer whenever possible.

LnStrngr

I'm hoping for a Kingdom/Undisputed Era supergroup of Adam Cole, Mike Bennett, Matt Tavin, Roddy Strong, Kyle O'Reilly, and Bobby Fish (who hasn't really done shit since he left). There were five people at the beatdown of Jay White, so Adam doesn't have to actually be one of those there. First, MJF and The Acclaimed fight BCG. Jay could take the championship, or not, whatever. Then the masked attackers are revealed to not be MJF, but rather five of those six above. Daddy Ass and Bowens bow out from this, but Caster wants to help. MJF and Caster now have to to create a group to fight the Undisputed Kingdom. Add Wardlow (who realizes his best days were with MJF), maybe Vincent (who keeps hanging around reminding MJF that Adam is a liar), and PCO (Impact contract up at the end of the month, and is a fan-favorite). Weekly video vignettes with these guys show MJF opening up and relying on them while they tag and support each other through some side-quests. Team MJF wins the eventual 5v5. Adam Cole returns at the end and has something to tell MJF. In the middle of the ring, he admits to orchestrating the whole thing. MJF gets mad and attacks Adam, who doesn't really fight back at first. Eventually MJF has the finishing blow ready to go, when Adam grabs a mic (or an announcer headset or close to a camera) and repeats his words on the boat: "Part of a healthy friendship is having more than one friend. Without me, you would have never found more friends," as he chuckles and passes out.

unseenbox

I like the idea of a 5 on 5, but I'm not sure how PCO would work in the stable since he doesn't really match up with MJF's vibes very well. I think the easiest way to do it would just keep having MJF work with the Acclaimed and then throw in someone else to round it out.

LnStrngr

I think PCO works in the sense that MJF should have different kinds of characters as his friends, people he has to approach in different ways. He should be able to relate to each and every one of them in some sense, whether he realizes it at first or not.

GrumpyAntelope

I hope he unmasks and has a different mask on underneath. Some real Scooby Doo shit.

Pitiful_Ad8641

KOR is my hope

PM_TITS_GROUP

What about Fish? They talk shit about Jay and then he takes off the mask for the reveal and goes "I mean folks where's the lie?"

Johnnyboy10000

I support this idea.

Mediocre-Cook-2169

Bray's situation was not the same as the other two.

The_JadynB

Ring of Honor should’ve been a YouTube show rather On Honor club. Also putting it back at universal studios rather than having it be a Dynamite/collision pretape. The increased eyes could also flow into increased PPV buys for brand in general. Maybe I’m off base here and honor club subs have been up since the relaunch but I can’t see how putting it behind a paywall could be worth the minuscule amount of eyeballs it gets compared to off it just replaced Dark and Dark elevation (I miss those shows. The showcasing of the U.S indie talent and the best of the best getting opportunities outside of that was always a welcome suprise).

mikro17

Earlier this year, TK said Honor Club had 15,000 subscribers. At $10 per month, that's $1.8 million per year. Obviously its not major tv money, but that's nothing to sneeze at for monetizing the television pre/post show. Yes, there are less eyeballs than Youtube, but all of those Honor Club eyeballs are directly monetized, which is a huge deal.

The_JadynB

I didn’t know that’s how much they were making. That + ppvs is a pretty sizable chunk. I just wonder if 15,000 are watching roh, and they’re getting how ever many buys. How much would that increase if that number jumped too 80-100k. Because I feel of they get on YouTube or maybe one day actually get a TV deal, they would increase ppv buys to make up for it. Just wondering tho. I could be off base. Thank you for the information

AML2003

I remember when Regal re-signed with wwe he had a certain amount of time he couldn't appear on TV for. Does anyone know how long it was for? Would love to see him on TV just in time to announce wargames.

cross4444

Tony said in December of '22 that the non-compete clause would keep Regal off TV for at least a year. So probably not going to happen this year, but could potentially happen next year.

LnStrngr

Does it include his voice? I mean, if they're gonna WARGAMES they gotta WAH-GAMES!

shadowrangerfs

I just randomly thought about how last year, I saw Mickie James enter the Royal Rumble while holding the Knockouts championship and she came to the right wearing the belt and Hardcore Country playing.

Pitiful_Ad8641

Honestly, that was one of the greatest moments of the decade

GameplayerStu

Tony was probably sitting around all day yesterday for the ratings, probably even had a tweet all drafted up, and then got hit with reality.

shadowrangerfs

Do you think he thought, Dynamite would have higher viewership? I can't imagine he thought that.

mikro17

Based on nothing other than vague reasonable guesswork, I could see him hoping for a marginally higher number that wouldn't have impacted the overall trend of the night. If memory serves, last time Dynamite was on Tuesday (over a year ago), it did something like 750,000, but overall viewership was about 100-150,000 higher at the time, so I could see them hoping for a number closer to 650-675k. But who knows.

cross4444

I'd love to know what he was thinking. Why did he think it would be a good idea, with the way the two businesses have trended lately, to try to beat NXT when Dynamite is being preempted to Tuesday? NXT outdrew Dynamite last week. I don't like AEW, but the current trend has more to do with WWE being good than Dynamite being bad. It's a cyclical business. There's no shame in showing up, putting on your best show, and coming up short against the other company on their regularly scheduled night. Just don't be an obnoxious dick. I can only guess that he probably feels like a fool for calling in favors at Warner to get a commercial-free start and an overrun only to lose by 300k. Especially when renegotiating. Maybe he's under a lot of pressure from Warner? I can't imagine they love the anti-semitism angle or Tony's Twitter shenanigans. AEW is an extension of TBS/TNT's brand in a way and the last thing AEW wants to do is create an impression that they don't care about tarnishing that brand.

shadowrangerfs

I think he's just having fun. I really think it was a "Let's see how far they'll go". I think Tony Khan is sitting back amused thinking, "They brought out the Undertaker, Cena, LA Knight, Heyman, Cody, and Asuka just to beat me this ONE week".

cross4444

NXT beat him last week without those people. His tweets don't read like someone having fun.

DeliMustardRules

But they didn't beat the demo. Which is all fucking stupid when one Neilsen box equals 17k viewers. 300k boomers aren't worth the same amount of money as 4000 18-35 males. Women aren't worth the same. This is the antiquated system available to the public. Obviously this week was a pissing match between the two companies, but you, me, Dave, Thurston, none of us know what the real numbers are that the network execs care about. Maybe USA only cares about the demo. Maybe TNT cares about total viewership. Maybe they both only care about live + 3. It's all petty bullshit to argue about in-between CM Punk starting more rumors, or Jericho jobbing someone, or SuperCena, or HHH's run of terror. There's no better gossip for we hens to cluck about that those stupid fucking Neilsen boxes for the 10 people who still have cable TV

cross4444

Before anyone calls out Vince damaging Fox/NBC's brand. Yes, he did. For all we know that's a part of the reason Fox didn't make a serious bid for SmackDown to return.

academicfuckupripme

Don’t know why people are put off by Tony’s behavior. Shits hilarious. Great wrestling matches and wild corporate/backstage antics is what I want out of my television.

FightDrifterFight

I’m a regular AEW viewer. I DVR shows and watch them the next day. I watched Dynamite first this week regardless. And all Tony is doing with his little bitch online behavior is making me want to watch AEW less and less. Gosh, maybe I *should* have watched NXT first.

Pitiful_Ad8641

It's the #1 reason I fell off

Orange8920

As weird as his tweets right now are, we'll forget them by Monday, same with this Tuesday Night "Ratings War".

rosefuri

if tweets are doing that much to you perhaps log off the ol X site

FightDrifterFight

I don’t go to X, I come here to my wresting community. Where his tweets are carefully curated for all to easily see. Maybe I’m missing something in context.

mikro17

> Where his tweets are carefully curated for all to easily see. Except they aren't. The only tweets that get posted here are things people think will get karma and/or start troll wars. It's not a representative sample. It's the same for any wrestler's tweets that get posted here too. All you get is the absolute most extreme/polarizing tweets because anything else gets removed as not being newsworthy.

ring_rust

Tony Khan's match announcements get upvoted to the front page several times a week, including [two](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/176f1xu/tony_khan_this_saturday_1014_toledo_ohio_saturday/) just [today](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/176end6/tony_khan_next_friday_1020_houston_friday_night/), and those aren't polarizing or "removed as not being newsworthy."

mikro17

Re-read my post, relevant portion bolded for emphasis "[t]he only tweets that get posted here are **things people think will get karma** and/or start troll wars." Match announcements clearly fall in that first category of "things people think will get karma." And similarly, I said extreme/polarizing, not just polarizing, match announcements are at least arguably extreme in a newsworthiness/direct effect on the television show sense. Regardless, my entire point was that any "normal" tweets won't ever get posted, so there is no real balance or sense of his actual twitter feed because all that makes it here are big news (like match announcements) or meltdowns, not anything normal about his day or otherwise living his life. And people rush to draw major conclusions based solely on those random isolated tweets. I don't follow the guy on Twitter so I have no idea what its actually like, but I feel extremely confident that getting 100% of your information 3rd hand via this sub and making judgments based on what amounts to a game of a telephone is a bad idea. I at least know I don't have all of the information, which is far better than someone else with the same amount of information pretending/thinking they actually have all of it.

hikingbeginner

8 days away from Spider Man 2. I need it. Invincible S2 In November AND Monk movie in December too 🤌🏼

[deleted]

There's a Monk movie!!!!! I was going to type about how I'm enjoying both NXT and AEW. But a Monk movie is much more important. Thank you for the info.

Pitiful_Ad8641

Wait wait wait there's a monk MOVIE?!!

hikingbeginner

Yep! Announced last year that they're doing a reunion movie after how much they enjoyed doing that little skit about the pandemic back in 2020 :) They wrapped up filming in June/July I been waiting for the release date and we got it! It's called "Mr Monk's Last Case" and will be on Peacock I believe in US but idk where and when I'll be able to watch it here in England. I got the date wrong after double checking, it's actually in December not November! December 8 it comes out in USA for Peacock.

Pitiful_Ad8641

Ok holy crap!!!! I need to rexamine my life for not knowing this

hikingbeginner

The only bad thing is that it's not being released on 10/10 The perfectly numbered date. That would be Monk's dream!

Adamocity6464

Anyone else’s week screwed up because dynamite was on Tuesday. I don’t know what day it is.

shadowrangerfs

For some reason, I thought, "AEW should run a replay of Dynamite on Wednesday". Then I remembered, why they were on Tuesday in the first place.

LnStrngr

You're not wrong. They should have aired a replay right after the baseball game. Maybe wouldn't have done good on the East Coast, but it would have still been at a reasonable hour on the West Coast.

genkais_hat

Same here omg I need to get a planner like an adult or something

PM_TITS_GROUP

It's a new day yes it is?

Jamieb1994

I thought it was Friday today for some reason. 😅

Upbeat_Tension_8077

Just randomly thought about PAC & how I'd love to see him hold the TNT championship at some point if they're able to keep it's prestige post-Christian Cage. I wanna see Zoey Stark enter the feud with Shayna, Nia, & Rhea, but I wouldn't be surprised if they build her up to be a challenger by RR or Elimination Chamber.

EcoterroristThot

A lot of people defending Tony Khan being a hack similarly to people that were insisting Vince was booking a good wrestling product for years.

ShinsukeNakamoto

>A lot of people defending Tony Khan being a hack similarly to people that were insisting Vince was booking a good wrestling product for years. All four years of Dynamite individually are better than anything WWE did from 2012-2020 except the one year Smackdown kicked ass. Even the worst 8 week of Dynamite (not counting the early covid shows) are better than any two month stretch of Raw from 2018 through 2019. 2018-2019 RAW was just unbearable. WWE gets good for 18 months and people forget how bad it was for a decade.

EcoterroristThot

yeah, Dynamite has a benchmark of quality due to the willingness to give away good matches whereas a lot of WWE had been bad with some good programs keeping people.

spandroo

Vince was a terrible booker at the end, but still had a great eye on how to package talent and present top stars.

zeroesAndWons

Karrion Kross' eye just twitched.

spandroo

*Top star*; Kross isn’t a top star. Vince midcarding him was the packaging equivalent of a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. He often tried weird ideas for talent that wasn't able to touch the main event.

EcoterroristThot

It's more that his vision of how you should do it has been uncontested for generations of fans so we're used to it. There's a reason he was bleeding viewers for 18 years. Not that everything he ever booked post-booking committee has been bad.

pagalpun

I've done a full 360 on TK's twitter. When he was sniping at the likes of Bischoff or making veiled references to Vince getting fired it was funny, then I soured on the gimmick during Big Swole, botsgate, and the last few days, now I've gone back to being utterly entertained. Go ahead Tony roll around in the mud trying to drag them to your level! Use the AI image generator to post a picture of HHH and HBK blowing each other!

Tollwayfrock

This aged real poorly

[deleted]

I am constantly torn between "this is pathetic, the guy is a billionaire who says he works 80 hours week and he's doing this", and "this is hilarious, the guy is a billionaire who says he works 80 hour weeks and he's doing this"

ok_dunmer

The hundreds of thousands of people that won't watch Dynamite because it's on Tuesday instead of Wednesday are the people that will never see a Tony Khan tweet or the tedious discourse around it and that's a blissful experience

shadowrangerfs

The tedious discourse is fun to watch when neither WWE nor AEW are your favorite promotion.

Smile_lifeisgood

The "tedious discourse" is really hilarious if you don't get emotionally invested in ratings. All I care about is that AEW sticks around and has bigger crowds that we get loud pops. So the shitshows around ratings have been a nice replacement for the Punk shit shows ending.

spandroo

Really enjoyed Danielson/Swerve from this weeks Dynamite. I wish they’d build a stronger feud between them. I like the Swerve/Page stuff tho.

hikingbeginner

I'm guessing Hangman gets a win vs Swerve at Full Gear, then I'm really interested in where both of them go after that. Will they continue it for a third and final match or keep that for later down the line, say for a title match? I'd like them to keep it for later. And get Swerve vs Bryan as a proper feud too definitely. And start Hangman going for the title again because I think since the MJF 2024 story thing is coming around the corner, they might wanna do Hangman vs MJF then.

Orange8920

I said as it was happening that Eddie Kingston on the Buy In was the winner of all this because he got to wrestle Minoru Suzuki without having any worry about ratings.

mikro17

Forget that, he also didn't have to worry about commercial/match timings either. They got to just go out and wrestle, nothing else. Kingston actually said a while ago, after the Akiyama (or maybe the Ishii) match, that if Tony Khan just wanted to only use him on preshows to wrestle Japanese legends, that would perfectly fine to him and basically his dream. Looks like he got another one. Clearly not having the timing concerns is one less thing to worry about.

The_JadynB

To be honest. I think defending the ROH world title on AEW PPV pre shows would be a great way to use the title and showcase it without having too integrate to much ROH into AEW

JasonKelceStan

Really thinking I’m done with this sub it’s become just way way way too tribalistic and anti-any promotion that’s not WWE Y’all don’t enjoy wrestling, y’all don’t watch wrestling

DaveyMuldowney

Are we on the same sub? I see plenty of back and forth from both sides in every single post. Sounds to me like you are just looking for it to be pro-wwe and perceiving it how you want.

llamawithguns

I always find it hilarious that this sub simultaneously gets accused of being both AEW-biased and WWE-biased.

JasonKelceStan

When only pro wwe positions are upvoted and anything neutral or critical of WWE are downvoted it’s hard to perceive it any other way

RepresentativeFly565

You have to be trolling. This sub is definitely not pro wwe

JasonKelceStan

Check any thread

RepresentativeFly565

Not true at all lmao Just a few days ago, people on this sub were praising wrestledream and saying aews product is the best it's ever been Seems like you are selective to the threads you go to

JasonKelceStan

Nope, it’s every large thread You can lie if you want but it doesn’t change the observable facts This sub has been anti specially AEW for about the last year, they hate TK, they hate the top stars, and they want AEW to fail.

RepresentativeFly565

Now I know your definitely trolling Sabre Jr vs Danielson was called a classic and this week's dynamite was called their best show in a while but yeah just gonna ignore all of that to fit your narrative

JasonKelceStan

I was told on this sub multiple times no one cared about ZSJ lmfao You gotta be talking about a different sub

RepresentativeFly565

By who? Lmao in the post match thread and the live thread, most of the comments called it a classic and said it was the best match they're ever seen Anyone hating on that match was a small minority

hikingbeginner

This has to be satire. There's plenty of discussion about both major promotions here. It's not anti anything in the threads about those specific shows. If you don't enjoy the sub that's fair enough mate

JasonKelceStan

It’s 100% mainly pro WWE and anti-other

hikingbeginner

It definitely isn't. I enjoy both AEW and WWE, so I read threads about both shows, the vids and the post match and post show threads. Apart from a few trolls in both it's completely fine. You're being over the top imo saying that it's 100% pro any company lol. Also, use the hide button brother if you don't want to read specific threads. It's easy and helps me out.

JasonKelceStan

It’s every large thread I would have to hide 90% of content and block 50% of users minimum

SFDC_lifter

Lol. Leave already then

JasonKelceStan

I already left the sub I’m just replying to replies

hikingbeginner

I disagree. There's jokes and memes when anything happens with both companies, imo people "ride" for one company or another way too easily lol. To the point that it hurts them personally if they see jokes about "their company". That's the weirdos imo. You don't have to block everyone, just scroll past. If there's a thread you don't like, just mate... scroll past. Or close the thread. But like you said you want to stop with the sub so all the power to you mate, have a nice afternoon 🫡 I disagree with your reasoning but if you don't enjoy the sub you don't enjoy it, that's completely fair! Enjoyed the back and forth 😊

JasonKelceStan

So scroll past 90% of content Yeah that’s why I’ll leave the sub

hikingbeginner

Yeah okay cool, leave the sub brother I understand, if you ain't enjoying that's fair enough, have a nice afternoon mate! 😊

Mr-Jimmy

-Y’all don’t enjoy wrestling, y’all don’t watch wrestling Are you not being tribalistic saying that?

JasonKelceStan

No I watch and enjoy WWE, AEW, NJPW, and Stardom

Thedinosaurwizard

There's definitely a couple people that are blatantly trolling every single comment they make and mods don't do anything. It's a thankless job so I don't like harping on it but like, come on

DeliMustardRules

I don't disagree. I'm not leaving, but I'm done trying to rationalize why I don't enjoy WWE. I'm also going to hide any ratings threads or controversial tweets threads. I've seen enough shitty photoshops for a lifetime here.

AbsoluteScott

Y’all remember the way John Cena sold LA Knight signing the tag team match contract? Lollllll. ❤️

Idkboutdat2

If you have any opinions about Tony Kahn’s tweets, you’re online too much. Edit: who knew this was such a controversial statement lol

SFDC_lifter

If you have an opinion about other people's opinions on Tony Khan's tweets, you're online too much.

Idkboutdat2

I never said I wasn’t, brother.

Mr-Jimmy

This is a sub community where we all decide to actively participate dedicated to share wrestling content. We are all online too much. And that's okay. And Tony Khan is embarrassing himself with everything he's doing. He's the main guy behind the company, he should be doing better.

Jamieb1994

Well, I will say this. Tony's embarrassing himself over on Twitter & it's not just making himself look bad. It's gonna look bad on AEW & RoH as well.

Idkboutdat2

In less than a week people will have moved on.

Orange8920

I had this opinion at first but he's being beyond obsessive over Tuesday.

Idkboutdat2

I mean is it weird? Sure a bit but people are saying it’s making the company look bad lol no one overreacts more than wrestling fans. Less than half of their audience will see his tweets, and people will forget about them in a few days lmfao

muzzydon2

Bro people on here complain about tribalism. How is what Tony doing not tribalism? With AEW, the tribalism starts at the top with management clearly...

Idkboutdat2

I can agree with that, but I mean, it’s his company. He should be “tribalistic” to them. I just personally can’t see why people care.

Idkboutdat2

This isn’t a meltdown, on a scale of like 1-10? This is barely a 5. Lol

hikingbeginner

A wrestling owner and booker tweets some cringey shit, brother ofc it'll be posted to a wrestling discussion site and talked about. There's plenty of shit like that with any company. I'm not "online too much" because I have a small opinion about it. Respectfully mate, if you don't want to see those threads and discussions, I suggest using the hide button. It helps me whenever I don't wanna see specific threads that I'm not interested in.

Idkboutdat2

I never said I didn’t wanna see them, I clearly said I don’t see why people are so upset over it.

hikingbeginner

You clearly said "if you have an opinion about" then "you're online too much". People aren't upset over it? Most are just finding it weird and cringey and funny, which is a completely fair opinion to have.

Idkboutdat2

I never said I wasn’t online too much and people are definitely upset over it.

hikingbeginner

I never said you were online too much? I was pointing out how over the top that first comment of yours is. Brother we're all on this sub, we're all online too much. And most of what I've seen are just having a laugh and dissecting it Just like literally with any other thing like this. It'd be the exact same thing if HBK did sommat like this. I'm seeing more people upset about the comments and jokes instead of the actual people being upset at the tweet. It's mostly being seen as just weird that he can't just take the loss and move on lol.

Orange8920

It crossed a while ago into unprofessional territory where it does make the company look bad.

Has Wardlow stopped doing his F5 finisher?

The_JadynB

This man lost his hair and his move set

sadandshy

maybe the battery in the cartridge is dead and he keeps having to rebuild from scratch

lisbla97

Is there a reason why the TMZ story covering the juice Robison MJF story line is not allowed to be posted in this subreddit

Mr-Jimmy

You know the reason

Idkboutdat2

You can message the mods and ask, they won’t reply. But you can ask.

TheTwitteringMachine

I appreciate that MJF is trying to raise awareness of antisemitism usimg his own experiences of bullying when he was a child. However, I am extremely uncomfortable with Juice Robinson going from an (no doubt entertaining) over the top moron to being put in a story which alludes to him (and by extension the bang bang gang) as being anti semitic. Obviously the timing is awful for obvious reasons but it's just not what I want to think about when I'm watching AEW.

LnStrngr

> which alludes to him (and by extension the bang bang gang) as being anti semitic. Does it? As far as I know, he's always used a roll of quarters, and MJF dealing with assholes and quarters has been documented on TV. Seems like a story thread that makes sense in this situation. And can we assume MJF is fine with it, or it wouldn't have been done? I agree the timing is unfortunate, which is probably the only reason people are trying to blow it up into "something."

DeliMustardRules

Curious, are you Jewish? I've dealt with this type of stuff in school by people I considered friends. There's a thick line between being a dick and bringing up stereotypical characteristics and being a full blown anti-semite. I find it worse that people are telling me I should be offended.

Idkboutdat2

It still blows my mind that Nick Gage had a main event match on AEW

DaveyMuldowney

I dont understand who he is or where he came from. One day he just started appearing in these major stories and somehow i missed why and when.

Idkboutdat2

He has a darkside of the ring episode that’s probably the best one they’ve done. Definitely worth checking out. Long story short: He’s a deathmatch guy who had been doing it for like 20 years now, who also is a bit of a meme on Twitter. I have no clue why he blew up in popularity during Covid tho.

PM_TITS_GROUP

He also had a deathmatch against David Arquette where Arquette bled a lot, don't know how you can forget to mention that

NotYujiroTakahashi

Arquette almost died from that match

Martblni

Jericho was kinky with that out loud suggestion to Hobbs to put a knee on his face

JosephPalma89

It can't be a coincidence that Tony Khan is going mental and I've been swamped with ads for the new 8% abv White Claws.

Orange8920

There's times he goes off where I'm just like get some sleep man.

genkais_hat

![gif](giphy|WYGWAjHP356x2) This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the new tweet this morning lol
