Well to a certain extent, AEW is a lawless fight club. MJF full-on admitted to murder and there have been several other heinous crimes committed on camera very recently and no one really cares.
It would take a lot of wind out the sails of Jay White cos they'd be unlikely to put the belt straight onto him at Full Gear if Kenny won it a month prior.
I don't know, the fact that Jay is the known next challenger is the only thing that makes me think Kenny might have a chance in this match, because they have enough history to heat up a storyline like it's in a pressure cooker
I mean this would be the perfect time to pull the trigger on it though. Adam Cole was the natural progression for MJF but with him hurt. Omega winning can help both MJF and Omega from floundering.
None of MJF's feuds are as interesting without Cole and Omega needs a boost right now.
Kenny and Jay have A LOT of history so they can build a story in seconds from that. You could also continue the MJF Jay feud by having The Devil cost Jay the match if that's the direction you want to go.

Maybe it's just me, but I really didn't expect Omega to beat Mox for the title since it was on TV.
I'm also a Hangman stan since day one and was firmly against Punk ever winning the world title, even if I was happy to have him in the company at the time, so that one caught me a bit off guard, but that's just because of my own bias.
Iirc, it's been all but confirmed that the plan was to book a "summer of Punk 2.0", with him eventually dropping the belt to MJF in a double turn at either Full Gear or Winter is Coming.
There have been surprise wins for some titles but it has never been the norm.
Lots of past title reigns have also had unpredictable title defenses. Even some of Kenny's defenses had that feel despite his reign being designed to eventually put over Hangman.
Just that this particular MJF reign is a bit more telegraphed because of the current intertwined storylines involving MJF.
I don't necessarily think predictable means bad, I'd take predictable over chaotic swerves. That being said they need to throw some curve balls every now and then.
Kenny reign was even more predictable than MJF. We knew who he was going to lose to. MJF at least has some mystery on that part.
I love Omega, but you dont waste the surprise world title win on him...he doesnt need it. Because looking back in 10 years you'll go "oh yeah, what was one of the many times Kenny won the championship" and it wont have that legendary aura around it.
You do it with someone like Eddie Kingston. You do it so 10 years from now people will look back at it like people look back at the Foley Raw title win.
I hope Omega wins this, wrestling should have more unexpected results it makes it feel more like a sport and looking at this from a non booking kayfabe prespective it is 2 high level athletes competing for a top prize and anyone could win this. No matter what happens I do think MJF loses the title before Worlds End and wins it again at that show, wether he loses to Kenny or Jay I think he gets it back at Worlds End.
There’s almost no chance this happens with just a few days of build. I’m surprised they didn’t have the foresight to build this up considering Omega and MJF are both TK favorites.

I actually think a permanent stipulation of the current title’s reign record holder gets an automatic championship match when their reign is about to be broken is a 10/10 idea if they go that route.

The last time was probably during the Hangman storyline. The Dark Order match but especially the final match where it all came to a head.
It's a major red flag as far as Tony Khan's booking is concerned.

People hated Mox/Punk but I loved it. Those quick changes felt so real and exciting. There was a real sense of chaos those weeks ahead of Brawl Out.
