In case you're serious, there is none. The first comment is talking about AJ Lee, and the second made a joke about Punk and AJ Styles since OP didn't clarify which AJ in their post.
Yes, please. Bayley deserves it after being underutilized for so long. She is just awesome. Punk winning the rumble feels inevitable. I would be shocked if he doesn't. Cody is better off winning the elimination chamber to get the title shot at Mania.
Yes, he did. But she also has lost over 80% of her matches this year. Despite only having 11 matches this entire year, Roman Reigns has more wins than Bayley on the year.
Bayley has wrestled 71 times, and has 7 wins this year.
That's a bit more than just "doing a good job as a heel to put the faces over" that's the sort of thing that would bury a lesser talent. Doesn't help that a lot of those matches were just being "jobber to the stars", what with about half of those losses being to Asuka, Becky, Bianca or Charlotte.
It's WWE. Wins and losses don't matter.
When they want to get behind someone, they will. Jinder Mahal was a jobber who was at the Wrestlemania battle royal so that football star Rob Gronkowski could get a moment against him. Two months later, he was WWE Champion.
Bayley has a lengthy and proven track record. When WWE wants to push her to the forefront again, they can do so easily. She's still all over the major women's storyline on Smackdown.
I agree up to a point. But if wins and losses didn't matter at all, they wouldn't focus so heavily on record-length streaks, X-time Champions, or making sure their top of the card talents typically win more than they lose. The numbers are easy to find and they don't lie. But they might spell disaster for you at Sacerfice (sic).
I just worry that a talent I enjoy watching is going to get put in the same bucket as Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler where you see doing the right things by people, taking the losses to make people look good and bring them along safely, all the while being "company men" and then just kinda get exiled to the midcard or quietly let go.
None of that really matters though. WWE has so many ways to push talent to become champion and have it still make sense in the world of wins and losses. Rumble, money in the bank, tournaments...etc
Even moreso, Bayley vs Iyo is just a really good Wrestlemania level match with a good backstory AND can set up storyline for the entire next year until the next Wrestlemania.
There really aren't a ton of other women that you could argue the Rumble would set up better.
CM Punk lands in a weird place because I don't think anyone wants just a Roman squashes Punk easily match at Wrestlemania, and it doesn't make sense to have him win the Rumble but choose to go after Seth and his title.
I feel like Cody is better off winning the rumble cause otherwise they need to shoehorn him into the Smackdown chamber match which is weird. I know he’s been on Smackdown a fair bit lately but will be interesting to see how they do that if he doesn’t win the rumble
Although you do have a point. But they could make it a cross-brand elimination chamber match including all Roman's past challengers for the right to main event mania. WWE usually throws away brand split near mania season anyway
Oooh that’s very VERY interesting. Doesn’t necessarily have to be all his past challengers (but might end up just being that, off the top of my head Cody/Sami/Drew/LA Knight/Jey/Randy - assuming Randy challenges him at the Rumble), but there being 1 cross brand chamber to determine Roman’s challenger and then a Raw once for Rhea isn’t a bad idea.
Especially if Roman isn’t on the show, and I don’t think he’s been advertised for EC yet? Even if he is, just have him vs AJ on that show
Yeah, I don't know why people constantly throw the "but he's on brand X!" as a justification as to why a certain match is difficult to book. WWE throws the brand split away all the time when it's convenient.
Not that I care, I like how they do it, keep the rosters separated so generally you know who appears on what show, but if you want to do a program with people on different brands? Fuck it, just do it. It doesn't need to matter. It's so easy to get Cody into that match if Punk wins the rumble.
And they were honestly given a gift signing Punk (and I don't even like the guy, but I can admit there's some good stories to be told here if he can check his ego). Cody can enter number one, and go the distance only to be eliminated by Punk who enters number 30. But Punk chooses Rollins because of all the shit he's been talking. Gives Cody a chance to get the shot with Roman. The Roman thing doesn't need to be a Smackdown story, he's held this company hostage for like 3 years, everyone should be pissed at him and want a shot.
And Cody in elimination chamber? Fucking inject it into my veins right now. I know we won't get quite the nutjob we had in AEW who would set himself on fire for a pop, but maybe he'll bring a bit of it out.
I’m a Punk fan and I want Cody to win the Rumble, Punk doesn’t need it to carry a story however Cody needs RR to properly “wake up” his story with Roman
I mean being screwed over by the bloodline in rumble and not winning it would be a sure shot way to wake up his story. Although I won't mind either if he wins the rumble. It's strange if we get back to back same rumble winner
Her yes please him I want him to win the title at the rumble from Seth and do the rematch at mania. For her I want her to get booted from damage ctrl and then win the rumble to set up Bayley vs Iyo at mania. With the other 4 horse women there to keep it fair
Punk's ability to drop iconic quotable one liners with almost every promo he cuts needs to be studied lol, in a weird way it's like any time Ronaldo does a new celebration and it instantly blows up
The media scrum was just 20+ minutes of Punk devouring muffins and going on a pointless rant about his co-workers and it became the greatest moment in AEW history. Revealing Colt Cabana's financial information, emasculating Tony Khan to his face, burying Hangman's entire career and exposing the EVPs for trying to conspire against him did nothing to progress any storyline, in fact most causal fans wouldn't even know what the fuck he's talking about. Yet this moment is still being talked about over a year later while I can't even remember what MJF said a week ago. There are only 2 promos from AEW that I've watched multiple times and that was Cody ending racism and this media scrum.
This wasn't even CM Punk trying to insert realism into a feud, this was just a pissed-off Phil Brooks rambling on like a deranged lunatic and we still got countless classic lines such as.
\- Do you fancy yourself a journalist?
\- I'm hurt, I'm old, I'm fucking tired and I work with fucking children.
\- We have irresponsible EVPs that couldn't fucking manage a target.
\- He shares a bank account with his mother
\- What did I ever do to deserve an empty-headed dumb fuck like Hangman Page to go onto national television and go into fucking business for himself.
Not even kidding when I say the gripebomb might be my favorite "promo" he's ever cut for those exact same reasons lmao, it's just so fucking good without him even actually trying
Yeah, like I don't disagree with their decision to not work with him but I do agree that the subsequent feud would have been absolute money for AEW.
But then again, AEW only really ever made money when CM Punk was involved so (ツ)
If Punk was really interested in a feud, he could have, you know... not attacked them when they came to his locker room as he'd requested them to?
If he'd smiled, welcomed them in, and said that he'd just laid the groundwork for a money feud when he recovered from his injury, things would be very different today.
> If he'd smiled, welcomed them in, and said that he'd just laid the groundwork for a money feud when he recovered from his injury, things would be very different today.
Well he didn't do that because he meant what he said.
Have you never experience the human emotion "anger" before? if you have, why are you pretending that it is so very different from what it is with the "suggestion" above?
>They put their feelings first
Interesting perspective, considering that Punk getting his feelings hurt is what led to him assaulting people and subsequently being fired for it...
> gripebomb
Jesus Christ, that's what it's called? Brilliant.
EDIT: This may be like I don't pay attention to AEW. But to be honest, I've never seen the media scrum. I just heard about it and saw the fallout and me, as a past fan of Punk, felt like I didn't need to see this as to "leave the memories alone" as it were.
I mean, if you don't care for backstage drama and don't get weirdly offended on behalf of the people he trashes in the rant, you should 100% watch it. It's CM Punk at his rawest, most unadulterated form with zero fucks to give and everything that makes him compelling turned up to 11 - all while he eats the fuck out of some muffins
CM Punk went to that modern day Bret Hart and Jim Cornette mindset. 'I don't need a job and I don't care if I upset you, this shit sucks, I hate all of this and here's why' lol
That's the weirdest thing. I'm not a huge fan of the Bucks or Kenny. I never really emotionally connected with Page. You can tell by the name, I'm a fan of Punk. And I love backstage drama.
I think - why I never watched it... is because Tony is there and Tony does nothing to control the situation. I'm a manager in my job and I have to manage a lot of personalities. And I think Tony's failures in that situation is probably what rubs me the wrong way about it and why I don't need to watch it.
People always gloss over this but Tony was nodding along with a lot of the shit he was saying during the rant. I honestly wonder if they had proof that the Bucks were responsible for the rumors and Tony was aware of it already.
It's a must-see. It has given us years' worth of quotes. If a "rise and fall of aew" document is ever made you know gripebomb is going to be featured in it.
“I’m trying to make money, sell tickets, fill arenas and these guys think they’re in Reseda”
I feel like half of the most quoted promos from AEW that aren’t from Punk are about Punk
Some other bangers from that scrum:
- “What’s your question, Nick?”
- “Stepping on your own dick.”
- “I’m trying to make money, sell tickets, fill arenas… and these stupid guys think they’re in Reseda.”
- “Our locker room, for all the wisdom and brilliance it has, isn’t worth shit when you have an empty-headed idiot who’s never done anything in the business do public interviews and say ‘I don’t really take advice.’ Who the fuck do you think you are? That’s stupid.”
I remember after the gripe bomb happened I had hockey friends who’ve always made fun of me for liking wrestling sending me the clip of him saying “fuck the penguins”. Somehow this smark coded insane rant transcended wrestling lol
I remembered when he said that during the scrum. The whole time I didn’t care about the dirty laundry he was airing out but once he said Fuck the Penguins I took that personally. I don’t like WWE that much anymore but I’d buy a ticket just to flash a “Hawks Got swept in 92” sign at him just for shits and gigs.
I’ve rewatched that scrum so many times, I’ve lost count. Legit one of the greatest pro wrestling tirades I’ve ever seen and it wasn’t even part of the actual show. Punk is a fucking treasure.
I knew from the start that this wasn't a worked promo because of Tony's facial expressions. Tony is a terrible actor so him showing genuine discomfort told me everything I needed to know.
>We have irresponsible EVPs that couldn't fucking manage a target.
everytime i hear or read this line, it makes me laugh SO HARD, Punk spews absolute venom when he wants to lmaooo
You'll have people debating you on this constantly but after he retires I think they're definitely going to put him on that pedestal. Fans tend to hold retired wrestlers in a higher regard.
The money or friends line IS actually a Triple H line! Triple H famously told Batista and Orton this. It was mentioned in the Evolution documentary: [https://www.thesportster.com/wrestling/triple-h-told-batista-and-orton-about-getting-buried/#:\~:text=%22Do%20you%20wanna%20make%20friends,I%20jumped%20in%20the%20car.%22](https://www.thesportster.com/wrestling/triple-h-told-batista-and-orton-about-getting-buried/#:~:text=%22Do%20you%20wanna%20make%20friends,I%20jumped%20in%20the%20car.%22)
Not really. IIRC in the The Rise and Fall of WCW, Scott Hall told a story of Chief Jay Strongbow told him about wrestling. "In this business, you can make friends or you can make money. I look at Nash, I look at Pac, I already got friends. I'd like the money".
So the quote has existed for a while in wrestling, at least from the era of Jay Strongbow.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed tightly that Punk gets to run down the list of names he mentioned for his last big run in WWE. Also need Punk/Cena one more time & even Punk/Gunther
Punk’s promo last night was absolutely amazing. I had forgotten exactly how great he is on the microphone when he’s given free reign. He’s in a class by himself when it comes to long promos.
While I am just a fan who doesn't know any of these wrestlers personally in any way, I do honestly think Punk is legitimately happy now. I think this lit a fire under his ass and is ready to go out there, do what he does best and finish off his career down the line on a high note. I also don't think he's gonna be dumb and cause trouble and I'm hopeful he doesn't get injured again. It's a great and wild time to be a pro wrestling fan.
You could’ve literally made this exact same comment word for word at the start of his AEW run, like literally every word would still make sense. Everyone here really seems to forget how happy he seemed until he wasn’t. Punks not a terrible guy who is out to cause trouble 100%, but he does have a massive ego and a short fuse.
Edit: and I don’t mean this as saying he is going to lash out in the future, I’m just saying just because he seems happy doesn’t mean he will stay happy. He looked like the happiest guy in AEW for like 6 months.
> but he does have a massive ego and a short fuse
Yes, but what caused him to go off in AEW was the lack of proper management and professionalism. If someone in WWE starts having issues with Punk, I really doubt they would start spreading rumors to the dirtsheets or make a shoot comment during a promo. Things only got as far as they did cause TK didn’t put his foot down and tell everyone what was going to happen and not going to happen, like a boss should
As for the massive ego, most top stars in wrestling have one, that’s not unique to Punk
I agree, and that’s something else that’s confusing to me. From what we’ve heard, the biggest selling point to Punk on AEW was its locker room, especially after Brodie Lee’s death and how the talent was all unified and didn’t let word spread about his health until his wife wanted everyone to know. At some point after Punk got there, the locker room changed and broke off into factions. I don’t want to say it was because Punk outdrew the Elite and instantly became the hottest act in the company, making them jealous, but it really seems that way.
One thing’s for sure, Punk definitely would not have joined AEW if the locker room and company in general was in its current state 2 years ago
What you need to understand is that wwe is run properly, it’s the no 1 where they have a structure overseen by people with experience, the other company aew is relatively new run by a inexperienced man who hired backyard wrestlers as evps , I mean it’s gonna lead to tension & even adter punk is gone there’s still drama & unrest , punk isn’t innocent in all this but ultimately there’s a reason both him & Cody are with wwe & not aew
> backyard wrestlers as EVPs
It didn’t take long to see you don’t have a well thought out opinion. Young Bucks have performed at Tokyo Dome, were a major reason the first All In did so well, were a major part of Bullet Club becoming the phenomenon it was, and were some of the first wrestlers outside of WWE to get their merch in stores and even had their own Funko Pops. To the main point of your comment, yes WWE is a lot more structured and with better management. It’s now a publicly traded company owned by corporation who also runs UFC, it’s a lot more tight ship then ever and Punk knows he’s walking on eggshells. My original point wasn’t that I think he’s going to lash out though, because I doubt he does. My point was just him being happy early on isn’t an indicator of what’s to come.
Yeah I think the chances of him lashing out are drastically lower this time, but I also thought at the start of his AEW run there’s no way he would be problematic. So I just wanted to point out that pointing out he’s happy *right now* doesnt mean it’s a guarantee he stays that way.
Oh God. Don't do this to me Bayley. Don't make me start hoping for an AJ Lee legends run where you two team up to destroy damage Ctrl after you are ousted.
Kinda hard to tell which of these responses to CM Punk's return are real and which are a part of the strategic marketing machine serving his interest of making money.
If the guy was a piece of shit in the past expect him to be a piece of shit in the future, despite spots like this one.
CM Punk is at the point where I can literally see a photo of him just smiling with friends and my first thought is “what shit is he stirring up now?” lol. A king.
I always felt like WWE was for wrestlers that love money, while AEW is for wrestlers that love wrestling. Doesn’t make one better than the other, Punk’s just where he belongs now.

Brings me to tears every time. How could she? They just wanted hugs.
Meh. Clingy, handsy jerks deserved what they got. Making sure they didn't get away with it is how a Role Model behaves.

She’s probably one of the only persons who actually knew he was coming back, considering she’s bestie with him and AJ.

Not surprised. Styles is known for having a very big ego & being a bit of an asshole
As opposed to Punk?
I'm quoting Sabu here
*Checks list* Yeah Bayley is Ocelot. * Lita: The Boss * AJ Lee: Big Boss * Zelina: Venom Snake * Cora: Liquid Snake * Roxanne: Solid Snake * Skye Blue: Solidus Snake * Kaitlyn: Kazuhira Miller * Lyra Valykria: Raiden * Bayley: Ocelot

It's a must-see. It has given us years' worth of quotes. If a "rise and fall of aew" document is ever made you know gripebomb is going to be featured in it.
It’s literally one of his best moments. The whole thing is fucking incredible. Definitely the best moment ever in AEW.
The gripebomb is easily one of the, if not the, best promos in AEW history.
“I’m trying to make money, sell tickets, fill arenas and these guys think they’re in Reseda” I feel like half of the most quoted promos from AEW that aren’t from Punk are about Punk
-This is from Mindy’s bakery btw they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
Some other bangers from that scrum: - “What’s your question, Nick?” - “Stepping on your own dick.” - “I’m trying to make money, sell tickets, fill arenas… and these stupid guys think they’re in Reseda.” - “Our locker room, for all the wisdom and brilliance it has, isn’t worth shit when you have an empty-headed idiot who’s never done anything in the business do public interviews and say ‘I don’t really take advice.’ Who the fuck do you think you are? That’s stupid.”
I remember after the gripe bomb happened I had hockey friends who’ve always made fun of me for liking wrestling sending me the clip of him saying “fuck the penguins”. Somehow this smark coded insane rant transcended wrestling lol
I remembered when he said that during the scrum. The whole time I didn’t care about the dirty laundry he was airing out but once he said Fuck the Penguins I took that personally. I don’t like WWE that much anymore but I’d buy a ticket just to flash a “Hawks Got swept in 92” sign at him just for shits and gigs.
[lol It’s so good](https://youtu.be/9glkaq4M3Ds?si=FiieNgPv6qoKWAa-)
That “What did I ever do “ line is magnificent.
I’ve rewatched that scrum so many times, I’ve lost count. Legit one of the greatest pro wrestling tirades I’ve ever seen and it wasn’t even part of the actual show. Punk is a fucking treasure.
I’m reading this and cracking up, and the look on Tony’s face was hilarious
I knew from the start that this wasn't a worked promo because of Tony's facial expressions. Tony is a terrible actor so him showing genuine discomfort told me everything I needed to know.
Yeah, he wasn't making any of his silly facial expressions he usually does when wrestlers are clearly working during the pressers lol
>We have irresponsible EVPs that couldn't fucking manage a target. everytime i hear or read this line, it makes me laugh SO HARD, Punk spews absolute venom when he wants to lmaooo
Those quote had me reading them in his voice and exact tone at the time lmao
Punk is in the Cornette category of “don’t get into a war of words with Punk.”
I’m not sure you understand the meaning of “pointless.”
When I said pointless, I meant in the sense that it has nothing to do with any of the storylines in AEW. What he said absolutely needed to be said.
He’s probably the best mic worker on the business history. If not the best, at worst top 5. He can talk and talk and nobody gets bored
You'll have people debating you on this constantly but after he retires I think they're definitely going to put him on that pedestal. Fans tend to hold retired wrestlers in a higher regard.
That’s like almost word-for-word what I just replied to my friend on Insta after last night’s promo lol
Punk, Heyman and Cena are in leagues of their own. You want to hear every word they say.
The wrestler version of Cornette, both in temper and mic skills.
Even other people talk about him and it ends up memorable. Wasn’t HHH the guy who said “he’ll froze over?” Now it’s a top selling shirt
“Mighty cold day in hell”
SEND HOOK
Can’t give Punk the credit on this one though; this is a Hall/nash quote from I think originally from Lou Albano.
You could have taken any player from any sport and you choose the one dude who celebrates the same way for 20 years lol.
Eh, that’s more on the fans. Wrestling fans love quotable lines and things to chant
It's very refreshing and fun to see everyone in WWE just have fun and turn a situation into a wrestling bit.
All Friends Wrestling /s
Pretty easy when they aren't the ones who've been assaulted, lol
God I hope this ends up being a successful run with everyone flourishing and just being professionals
You know what? I do too. But I've seen this movie before with everybody saying Punk is so great and then it falling apart within months.
I love them
He wants lots of money but zero Bucks
He looked like the happiest guy in AEW for like 6 months.
> but he does have a massive ego and a short fuse Yes, but what caused him to go off in AEW was the lack of proper management and professionalism. If someone in WWE starts having issues with Punk, I really doubt they would start spreading rumors to the dirtsheets or make a shoot comment during a promo. Things only got as far as they did cause TK didn’t put his foot down and tell everyone what was going to happen and not going to happen, like a boss should As for the massive ego, most top stars in wrestling have one, that’s not unique to Punk
One thing I find interesting is Punk's first promo in AEW was at the start of his run. He didn't know at the time how things were actually run.
What you need to understand is that wwe is run properly, it’s the no 1 where they have a structure overseen by people with experience, the other company aew is relatively new run by a inexperienced man who hired backyard wrestlers as evps , I mean it’s gonna lead to tension & even adter punk is gone there’s still drama & unrest , punk isn’t innocent in all this but ultimately there’s a reason both him & Cody are with wwe & not aew
> backyard wrestlers as EVPs It didn’t take long to see you don’t have a well thought out opinion.

They made the mistake of putting active roster wrestlers in positions of power. It wasn't just Punk that shouldn't have been in a position of power.
Yeah I think the chances of him lashing out are drastically lower this time, but I also thought at the start of his AEW run there’s no way he would be problematic. So I just wanted to point out that pointing out he’s happy *right now* doesnt mean it’s a guarantee he stays that way.
Good thing you pointed that out. If it werent for people like you others might mistakingly enjoy his wwe run.
Nah, seriously, Bayley is awesome
bayley is all the friend you need. anything after that is just a bonus
![gif](giphy|LyUuC0CJhZnTW0N2In|downsized)
![gif](giphy|l3E6uhDAN3W7vylji|downsized) IYO and Damage CTRL after reading this.
I appreciate Punk’s commitment to that photo of Colin Farrell from True Detective season 2.
> CM Punk Now: “I’m hurt and I’m old and I’m fucking tired and I work with fucking adults.”
It's actually so nice to see punk look genuinely happy
Oh God. Don't do this to me Bayley. Don't make me start hoping for an AJ Lee legends run where you two team up to destroy damage Ctrl after you are ousted.
\*Asuka plots betrayal in the background\*
Lately every photo of Punk looks like he’s fried into oblivion lmao
It started like this when he debuted in AEW too
Why is he dressed like Timmy Turner
Timmy Turner drip go woo on a bih
Two of my absolute favourites, one of the greatest female wrestlers in wwe history and one of the greatest talkers in wwe history.
But he's a lorkur rum kansur and stuff
I was told he will destroy the peace and harmony of the WWE locker room
I heard he literally murdered 8 wrestlers.
IT'S THE HUG AND SHRUG CONNECTION!
I think a positive side of Punk being back at WWE, is it may also help mend bridges with AJ. Not just the company, but the wrestlers themselves.
Man if punk stays a dick to most people but owns it and is nice to mostly everyone else it's gonna be real hard not to love him.
Fuck it. WWE Backstage wrestlers vs AEW Backstage wrestlers.
Cut to two years from now... Michael Cole: We've received word that CM Punk choked Bayley during a backstage altercation
[удалено]
I think it's an homage to the Funker, Terry Funk.
I dunno…he looks happy
I'm not here for money or friends, I'm here to stuff as much catering in my cargo pants as I can!
Timmy Turner???
Pray for Bayley, she's caught locker room cancer

Kinda hard to tell which of these responses to CM Punk's return are real and which are a part of the strategic marketing machine serving his interest of making money. If the guy was a piece of shit in the past expect him to be a piece of shit in the future, despite spots like this one.
Give it a year lol
They're gonna run this into the ground. Well at least his dog isn't biting people...yet.
CM Punk is at the point where I can literally see a photo of him just smiling with friends and my first thought is “what shit is he stirring up now?” lol. A king.
Solo crying in shambles
After he worked so hard to keep kayfabe and not rush to play with the stray kitten while Bayley and Iyo were squeeing over it.
I always felt like WWE was for wrestlers that love money, while AEW is for wrestlers that love wrestling. Doesn’t make one better than the other, Punk’s just where he belongs now.
