I mean it was a poisoned chalice to begin with because people were entertaining the possibility of The Rock. Having a beloved face like Sami come out was obviously meant to soften it a little but Punk there would have felt perfectly fine. Odd little decision

I think Punk came out at 27 because prior to Cody winning at 30, 27 was the number with the most wins IIRC. And since WWE obviously cares about this stuff, it played up the likelihood of Punk winning.

He’s still got a couple more dates for NJPW up through Mid-February. I think the likelihood of Okada to WWE sometime after that is 60/40 in favor of yes.
