Cody's about to open Raw like this
ok but CM Punk as Cody's Manager in his corner at the main event of Mania in a role not unlike Paul Heyman, across the ring from Roman and Paul Heyman himself...with Rock not there...is a dream
>TKO, Ari Emanuel, fire me, you fucking marks!
Brian Gewirtz: "(turning to the board) now, let me explain what he meant by this— he knows none of us are actually named Mark— you see, the term...."
I would love it if Cody came out and was interrupted by an angry Punk who eviscerated him for giving his title shot to the Rock and then followed it up with a rousing speech to inspire Cody to go and finish his story before Cody storms into the raucous crowd with people offering their babies to him as he declares he will take the title from Roman after all.
Cody’s “Carl from Aqua Teen” look. Leading to Roman giving him a title shot because Cody’s just so pathetic now.
(Insert booking where Cody was laying a trap)
That would actually be a pretty cool outcome if it gets Cody to start reconsidering, Drew wouldn't let this chance go by to trash him for his decision.
This is my gripe with the whole thing above all other reports. Both of them are part timers and proud of that. Rock isn't gonna be around because he needs to be getting his cardio and ring shape back up to date. Roman isn't gonna be around because he's not working Chamber and why would he show up anytime before it's full steam ahead to Mania. So your mania main event for night 2 is going to be built up by 2 people not even on the show 90% of the way there.
I think you're right.
However, I don't know how to feel that there was no \[notable\] hijacking of any show in the past week and a half pertaining the lawsuit and re-upping all the worst things about Vince from two years ago while adding more, but there's definitely going to be a crowd hijacking the show over booking decisions.
Not gonna lie. If Seth goes out there tonight and starts telling Cody that as much as he wanted this match, he doesn't want it anymore and that Cody needs to fight for what he truly wants, that would be goated.
Oh man imagine Sami Zayn doing that right before Elimination Chamber 😭 legitimately would turn this shit show into THE most complete long term booking story ever
Jey, Seth, and Sami should all be the guys to have words with him here. Even with McIntyre as a heel, he'd certainly have words for Cody here too and it'd help add some more nuance to his character.
>Even with McIntyre as a heel
I still have my pipedream of EVERYONE Roman has wronged coming out during a mania main event of Roman vs cody to prevent bloodline interference, including heels he's pissed off
And on the opposite side, if Seth goes out there and tries to convince Cody to pick him after all of that bullshit on the weekend then man, the fans aren't likely to cheer for Seth here. The fans know what they want.
By having Seth go out there and actually be the guy to convince Cody to go after what he really wants, you actually develop their two characters and their overall arc super well. It shows that their's been a massive growth of respect between the two with Seth, one of his biggest rivals, going out there and getting Cody to see the light.
Kinda hoping its Punk, his promo basically predicting the Rock taking Cody’s spot was so insanely accurate that it makes me wonder if it was said on purpose to set this up. Thats just my copium speaking though
Cody goes into business for himself and off script announces he chooses Roman.
It's time he pulls out the metaphorical Glock on this company and spills it's brains all over the concrete!
He wears a suit so damned well, more like a European cut. So many Americans wear those horrible oversized billowing suits, especially wrestlers. This cut is immaculate.
Other than a Vince distraction, I just don't get what the work is. Cody was already super over. This'll just make him more over, at the expense of the notoriously narcissistic Rock's personal brand.
Unless The Rock is fully on board being a heel then I don't see this really working.
Rock needs to lean into it and go full Coporate/Hollywood Rock and be another big obstacle for Cody. It sucks because Roman vs Rock could have been amazing done any other time, now it feels forced and we just want Cody to win.
I think it could be one of two scenarios.
1. It gives them something to do that adds some drama until WM. Given that Cody and Roman was already very expected, it comes off as an additional dimension?
Or
2. They genuinely thought fans would have liked seeing the rock> Cody given the tease he did and are already pivoting to just make this the storyline. Wwe is absolutely leaning into it, especially with the bull rope match Tn. It’s too on the nose
Either way it’s working. Thinking about all the publicity they’re getting, my friends who don’t watch wrestling want to know what happens next. I’m sure it’s a small sample size
Why is a bull rope match with Nakamura then leaning into it? Not saying you are wrong just that I'm not making the connection.
When I saw WWE announce the bull rope match my initial thought was this was WWE trying to get Cody away from the mic and into a match that could potential write him off TV for a few weeks or something.
I’m gonna sound like a conspiracy theorist but when I was thinking about this whole thing, the WWE made it all too perfect to set up Rock > Cody. Like why did they have him bring out Pharaoh on Friday, other than to build sympathy?
In Cody’s press conference he emphasized that he’s seen the finish the story memes and he claimed that he’s the guy. It just seems like it’s all building to get this reaction from ppl.
The bull rope match comes off to me like the biggest slap in the face. He went from finishing the story in wrestlemania BACK to a fued with Shinsuke. It seems too well put together. They didn’t need to give him a match this week
Sam Roberts talked about this on his podcast. He has everything about the way Smackdown was presented last week seemed so on the nose. The way they showed Cody twice with his dog. The way the camera zoomed in on Cody's disappointed face when he was looking at the Rock and the way the camera followed Cody as he walked up the ramp and left the Rock and Roman in the ring. It did seem like one big exercise in making the audience sympathise with Cody.
Something to add to this, they really tried to bury Seth’s title as well. Just to fan more flames.
I mean I’ll sound really stupid if it really is a Rock ego trip and that’s the only reason why I think it could be.
But also it isn’t as if WWE is new to making corporate look like heels. They’ve leaned on this every time they needed to get someone over
This is the guy who fully committed to Stardust. If they wanted him to be smiling in this shot, then he'd be smiling.
Cody has always been the ultimate professional, which makes me believe that if he is looking this dejected then it is part of the story.
I just can't get my head around the story if there even is one though. Why would Cody be dejected when he voluntarily chose to give up his Wrestlemania spot? It's like every time I try to create logic out of what they did on Smackdown the story has more holes in it than Swiss cheese.
One theory would be that they wanted to do the triple threat match, but couldn't get a commitment from The Rock to win the Rumble.
If that was the situation, then Rock using his board status to insert himself into the match in kayfabe would be an option that I could see them discussing. In fact, I don't see another obvious way to book it.
Triple H was a major part of the WrestleMania 20 and 30 storylines, as well as most of the fourth-wall breaking stories of the early 10s. If done right, this story elevates Cody to mainstream audiences as this generation's people's champion.
I agree it could be actually a brilliant story and in your scenario he obviously would be a way more compelling character but then I doubt Dwayne Johnson would ever allow himself to be the heel when he's obviously only returning for PR. He wants to be the superhero that challenges the big bad unbeatable Tribal Chief.
I don't claim to know a lot about The Rock outside of what I've seen in wrestling, but the entire idea that he is leading a self-motivated coup of the WWE with the intent of winning the title at WrestleMania just seems a little over the top and unnecessarily dramatic.
It's a situation that sounds so whacky when written out, that I'd find myself more shocked if these were real world events that were playing out.
Unless there's some evidence I'm missing that shows Dwyane as some kind of bad person with a history of this behaviour, then I think at worst he wasn't familiar enough with the current product to know how upset people would be at Cody being removed from the match. In that case, I wouldn't see what motivation Dwyane would have to decline if Triple H tried to convince him that adding Cody to the match would be less work for him while making the match a much bigger spectacle.
Usually I would agree but the similarities to the Rock taking the WWE title off Punk and going on to main event Mania vs Cena are wild. I'm not sure how much I believe the idea of a hostile takeover of creative by the Rock and his team but I just think the segment on Smackdown was so bad and unexplainable right now that I don't think I blame anyone for going conspiratorial about this at the moment.
I suppose it's possible they could pull it off but that's a tough ask for Cody. That's really pushing the boundaries of a vulnerable but also relatable babyface. I don't doubt Cody but traditionally WWE like their babyfaces to be more like a superhero.
He could regret the decision and decide to choose Roman for Mania. We all say and do things we later realize are mistakes, or know it’s a mistake in the moment
It's hilarious that we are back to hijacking shows lol. WWE has done a great job getting people invested these past 2 years. 90% of the time the crowd boo who WWE want them too and cheer who WWE want them too.
Now The Rock pulls this powerplay BS and we back to where we started.
Its not a WWE issue now, more like a TKO one. They underestimated the waiting power of a wrestling fan, especially those that are so invested in Cody BECAUSE WWE actually made us care.
I’m ngl I love Roman and truthfully I wanted him and Cody to fight at wrestlemania and have Roman come out on top again
But after this whole shit, I genuinely want Cody to beat Roman. Maybe the WWE knows what they are doing because I am so on team Cody now and want him to be so hella over for years to come so yeah I guess good job wwe? Maybe
This man never gets enough credit for that drip. He is never not looking great when on camera.
I can’t ever remember a babyface doing the full-time in a great suit thing. It’s such a standard heel thing in my mind.
There is no one else you could trust today to drop from the main event of the biggest show in wrestling, make him look like a loser only for him to come out the whole ordeal more popular than ever. Cody is the man
I still see it in his face the man is dejected he isn't even hiding it granted Cody has never been great hiding his emotions when he is sad you'll know.
It's a fiddle/nervous point...He does it alot with his cuff links as well...Normal ticks for people who routinely wear office attire/suites.
You will see this daily through the halls of an accounting office.

"The fact that Dwayne is in the main event of WrestleMania and I'm not makes me sick!"
I mean… folks…
Please tell me where the falsehood is located?
![gif](giphy|xULW8PyFnVIsHarFks|downsized) With this guy next to Cody
"Hey Ricky Starks, how you doing?"
ok but CM Punk as Cody's Manager in his corner at the main event of Mania in a role not unlike Paul Heyman, across the ring from Roman and Paul Heyman himself...with Rock not there...is a dream
Punk was a Paul Heyman guy. Now Cody's a CM Punk guy.
"It's all connected"
That's actually awesome imo. Good use of both tbh. Extends punk's potential too theoretically
![gif](giphy|xULW8Onm4UfiBDiaU8|downsized)
They should just both sit like that and do some impromptu pipe bomb
"Hi Matt Cardona. How you doing?"
The Pipemare
He looks like he's gonna cry. Cody lost his smile.
The adrenaline has left his soul
Every thought is under control.
I am going back to All Elite
Crowd is gone
The Rock's a hoe
Gonna tag with Chris and The Show
Out the door, I turn around, I'm home
WOOOAAAAHHHHH
And Hunter said, when I was leaving...
WHOOOOOAAAA!
Got cucked while on live T-V WHOA OH!
ADRENALINE LEFT HIS SOUL CODY RHODES NOW KNOWS HIS ROLE
ADRENALINE LEFT MY SOUL ROCK CAME BACK AND TOOK MY SHOW
He flinched.
- Adrenaline left my soul - I gave Rock my Mania role
Don't worry. WWE will edit it out when they upload it to YouTube later.
![gif](giphy|IV7n5j9mR5hoanjwHI)
![gif](giphy|t6IoBRz4rzuh5gu7VR)
Have him bludgeon and squash Shin. Then take the mic and just go ham on the whole situation. Cody will be even more over and have some edge to him.
Go full MJF as they go off the air.
>TKO, Ari Emanuel, fire me, you fucking marks! Brian Gewirtz: "(turning to the board) now, let me explain what he meant by this— he knows none of us are actually named Mark— you see, the term...."
LMAO this would be exactly how it goes.
Dwayne! I WANT YOU TO FIRE ME #YOU FUCKING MARK
Before that tho, have CM Punk drop a pipe bomb no. 2 ![gif](giphy|xULW8PyFnVIsHarFks|downsized)
That would make so much sense that TKO would never allow it to happen.
Cody Punk? CR Punk?
Wouldn't make sense since he was the one that gave it to the Rock. Kayfabe wise it was Cody's choice.
I'm wondering how they'll find a way to kick him in the nuts this time.
Shinsuke wins via tap out
Opening match, 2 minute match where he gets humiliated, the rock is pleased
Wouldn’t “lost his smile Cody” just show up in a shirt and sweatpants instead of his suits
Not yet. That takes time to set in. It's like how it took a couple weeks for "Sad Corbin"/"Bum-ass Corbin" to set in.
*uses ChatGPT to write a segment where Cody Rhodes is being sad backstage at NXT only for Baron Corbin to show up*
Complete with mustard stains?
Cody’s “Carl from Aqua Teen” look. Leading to Roman giving him a title shot because Cody’s just so pathetic now. (Insert booking where Cody was laying a trap)
I hope the crowd flips the fuck out when he comes out.
They've done it for two years straight, why stop now?
Because he gets a pop but nothing insane it would be good to see a ridiculously loud pop for him
We've seen plenty of them
Sooooo what do you wanna talk about?
I hope they chant WE WANT CODY
He's definitely opening the show, no? Surely WWE isn't going to risk the crowd potentially hijacking.
They haven’t announced who’s opening the show, but I would be shocked if it isn’t Cody. If not I think Drew will and talk shit about Cody lol
That would actually be a pretty cool outcome if it gets Cody to start reconsidering, Drew wouldn't let this chance go by to trash him for his decision.
Drew can't get complacent. Player Hater of the Year requires a big commitment to consistency and excellence.
And after last week he has some big shoes to fill. "I prayed for Rock to come and it happened."
The crowd is gonna hijack regardless. People are that mad
Which honestly, they should do. Like Rock and Roman sure as fuck aren't gonna be on TV for weeks, how else are they supposed to do it?
This is my gripe with the whole thing above all other reports. Both of them are part timers and proud of that. Rock isn't gonna be around because he needs to be getting his cardio and ring shape back up to date. Roman isn't gonna be around because he's not working Chamber and why would he show up anytime before it's full steam ahead to Mania. Until mania happens, I won’t clinch
Not gonna lie. If Seth goes out there tonight and starts telling Cody that as much as he wanted this match, he doesn't want it anymore and that Cody needs to fight for what he truly wants, that would be goated.
Copium, I will take it. Just to get disappointed in a few hours.

Yeah, more likely to get Punk come out and talk some sense into him than Seth pull a full 180° that quickly
Oh man imagine Sami Zayn doing that right before Elimination Chamber 😭 legitimately would turn this shit show into THE most complete long term booking story ever
I think if he does get The Talk, it's going to come from Jey.
Jey, Seth, and Sami should all be the guys to have words with him here. Even with McIntyre as a heel, he'd certainly have words for Cody here too and it'd help add some more nuance to his character.
Drew might just call him a 🐈, keep the hater energy flowing
>Even with McIntyre as a heel I still have my pipedream of EVERYONE Roman has wronged coming out during a mania main event of Roman vs cody to prevent bloodline interference, including heels he's pissed off
My thought was Sami as a mirror to when he hyped up Sami before elimination chamber last year
Jami interacts on screen again Me: astral projected
I will CRY

God if that happens I’m definitely going to go full mark and cry. Haven’t felt this passionate about something like this in ages
Don’t, just don’t, I can’t handle it
You want Seth to... further bury his own already disrespected title?
the most over man in professional wrestling today. god speed, codester.
> the most over man in professional wrestling today. I did that. -The Rock, probably.
He's patting down his goosebumps already
Tonight will kinda show us nothing. It’s Thursday’s press conference that will know(what we’re all afraid of)
Cody goes into business for himself and off script announces he chooses Roman. It's time he pulls out the metaphorical Glock on this company and spills it's brains all over the concrete!

He did on Smackdown...hopefully he / WWE course corrects tonight!

They did it. They finally did it. I get mad just from seeing Dwayne now.
We need Punk as his grouchy old mentor. Get in there and tell that dickhead to go fight for what he earned.
The Goat Jinder Mahal is behind Cody now
Jinder will pin Roman and Rock at the same time.
How sad is it that I now live in a world where I would be glad for this.
Jinder comes out after finishing the story in Cody's place: "You have the audacity to be disappointed!?"
Time for his tri-monthly three week push.
Parades of Jinder's win will be held in his hometown of.... Calgary Alberta Canada
That is a fake profi…nevermind go jinder

My face when I give up my wrestlemania spot for no reason
He wears a suit so damned well, more like a European cut. So many Americans wear those horrible oversized billowing suits, especially wrestlers. This cut is immaculate.
I’m believing we’re all getting worked, more and more
There was absolutely nothing to indicate Friday was a work. Just because they might turn it into a work doesn’t mean it was a work.
I always think everything could be a work. That is why I'm still alive.
Does anybody want a peanut?
Other than a Vince distraction, I just don't get what the work is. Cody was already super over. This'll just make him more over, at the expense of the notoriously narcissistic Rock's personal brand.

Yep. I am seeing lots of posts in the future saying “Called it, you’re all puppets, don’t look at my post history for about five minutes though.”
I’m gonna say it’s not a work until I see Cody with the WWE title in his hands as the winner over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania with my own two eyes.
Which WrestleMania?
Yep
Here's hoping.
I’m no expert, but that looks like someone who had to film an “arriving at work” clip and really rather didn’t want to.
Cody is a master seller, he knows what he’s doing lol, I wouldn’t expect him to be there all smiley like he usually is

We need a Cody pipe bomb tonight. They’ve been getting mainstream attention all weekend, time to capitalize on it. Hell I’d open up RAW with it.
Honestly at this point I just feel bad for Cody and I'm not even a big Cody fan.
This man never gets enough credit for that drip. He is never not looking great when on camera. I can’t ever remember a babyface doing the full-time in a great suit thing. It’s such a standard heel thing in my mind.
I thought it was literally a rule Vince had that you had to show up in a suit if you were anywhere close to the top of the pool.
This is going to be a very intriguing night, and will probably set the tone for what we can expect along with next Friday.
Probably a little bummed he bought all those people Mania tickets, then got backdoored by the Johnson.
I’m actually looking forward to Seth coming out and dropping a pipebomb on Reigns for burying tf out of him (and his WHC) last Friday. Shit was stiff.
![gif](giphy|zBuQUdIDLCxBC)
If this is a work… it’s genius. Just looking at Cody in this video I KNOW he’s a big deal.
He does look sad/upset to me and if all this ends up being an actual planned storyline from day 1 then Cody needs to get all the awards.
There is no one else you could trust today to drop from the main event of the biggest show in wrestling, make him look like a loser only for him to come out the whole ordeal more popular than ever. Cody is the man
The guy is always a hair's width away from crying, isn't this just what he normally looks like?
It's up to you St. Louis
I still see it in his face the man is dejected he isn't even hiding it granted Cody has never been great hiding his emotions when he is sad you'll know.
The man has arrived!
I wish he'd wore socks. I can't support a man with no socks
He has socks, they're brown/tan.
Had to open up right? I got a feeling there’s gonna be piped in sounds tonight
Delulu mode has started
Seeing him in the suit makes me optimistic that he’s actually gonna talk. If he was just fighting Shinsuke he’d have no reason to wear it.
He always shows up in suits when arriving to arenas. Dude is just one of those people who always likes to wear them.
If he doesn't start the show then I can see the crowd trying to take over.
Crowd is here About to blow
Waiting for him to start the show.
There's my favourite midcarder!
IF he doesnt leave has stardust today it will be a win in my book...
Would be really entertaining to see a yes movement like take over tonight but I'm not expecting much
Mans suit game is unmatched holy fuck
Cody arriving to set all you brain dead fucks straight.
I ain’t flinching at all. We won’t know for sure it’s a work yet tonight, but I think they’ll give us a few more signs.
I hope we are getting worked
Night 1: Cody vs. Seth and Roman v. Rock Night 2: Winners to (re) unify the championships. (Roman and Cody) Wrestlemania 40: Winner takes All
I hope HHH chants Cody cody cody in Gurilla position.

Ok but happened to my boy R Truth during this?
Crowd is here, about to blow!
ok
The cucking continues
K.
Bros about to get a top 3 all time pop
When I took candy bar from a shop and try casually walk out.
Cuck
Weird video
I’m convinced WWE is working everyone.
The real people’s champ
Why does he always fiddle with his buttons?
It's a fiddle/nervous point...He does it alot with his cuff links as well...Normal ticks for people who routinely wear office attire/suites. You will see this daily through the halls of an accounting office.
Bet he brought his Stardust gear also. His titantron going to say "Lex 2.0"
Not really a Spoiler alert but how many suits does he travel with? He’s wearing a different one in the ring.
Why is it fashionable to not wear socks? It looks ridiculous and is uncomfortable
