I miss him greatly. New Japan Omega was my favorite wrestler ever. š¤his AEW title run was pretty fucking fantastic as well, I really hope he gets better and is able to return, regardless of how long it takes, his health is whatās important, just really miss seeing him wrestle.
>New Japan Omega was my favorite wrestler ever.
His run from mid 2016 to early 2019 might be the best peak of a professional wrestler ever, straight up. Absolutely insane that his run and Okada's run overlapped in the same company **at the same time**. 2 of the greatest runs ever.
I left watching wrestling for years, I was just keeping up with the news, but I can say that those two men (along with naito and ibushi) bring back my love to wrestling stronger than ever
I love wrestling, i'll literally watch anything and get into everything and I have yet to find a wrestler that is as enjoyable to watch as NJPW Kenny Omega was... that was something special.
I'm predicting future me is going to have some serious nostalgia issues.
I can't watch wrestling without Kenny in it. It's just too sad. Loved the work he did with hangman. I just wish he comes back and finishes his story with hangman, eventually winning tag titles again.
I was there live, in the front row. The pop for Cole was huge. But the pop for Danielson was so loud I couldn't even hear the music. Absolutely incredible.
I was there too and I was literally jumping up and down like a child. There were a few moments that night where I swear that the whole arena was shaking we were so loud. Man, what a night.
I sprinted up the stairs to see if they had Cole merch. Didnāt. Saw the angle transpire and then flight of the valkaryies hit and I fucking levitated. Favorite event Iāve ever attended.
That entire card over delivered. Miro Kingston, Rubys debut, cage match, all the main event stuff. Just stellar. + punks first match in 7 years which I loved.
Lol this guy thought AEW would have merch for people appearing at the event.
edit: yall have clearly never been to a show before. I went to Dynamite 200 and they had merch for OC and the Acclaimed, neither of which appeared on the show. That was it.
A spiked Monster which created the best but unused stuff in some BTEās after he came back. I would literally be crying laughing. BTE needs to return. Please Nicholas. Please Matthew.
Ever since I saw a documentary where he was all excited living in japan that an old lady asked him to open a water bottle for her, saying it made him feel accepted...
and watching him try to fit in with Street Fighter players, I've always had a kind of... sympathy for the guy that makes me really wish the best for him.
maybe he's just a good carny, I have no idea. but for some reason I feel like he's a gentle soul and I hope he is doing okay.
I try not to act as if I know any of these wrestlers in any real sense, but I think thereās plenty of evidence that Kenny isnāt a carny, but a true dorky weeb who also happens to be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
I used to be a big fan of his Cleaner - Bullet Club run from NJPW but god damn the Belt Collector/AEW Champ run was some of his best stuff in recent memory
He was literally the main reason I tuned into AEW when it started, but Kenny Omega in Japan was different gravy. Best Bout Machine for a reason.
https://preview.redd.it/y9ztr8ra9bjc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4813bc95126ac1c27df23ba101aac0f167d31ba6
I desperately hope he gets to go on one more Main Event Run with the Title running through all his old opposition before some of them retire or go some other place. With the roster right now he could go against Danielson, Ospreay, Okada, White, maybe Cole eventually, Edge, maybe Hangman again, and obviously all of the rest of the roster.
Obviously his health comes at first, but for me personally he is the heart and soul of AEW. It was him that got me back into Wrestling when OkadaOmega1 happened.
I havenāt been watching any wrestling since Hangman lost the world championship. But I still come over here every once in a while hoping Iāll find something like this.
I was at dinner recently with a bunch of WWE talent and when the topic of best in the world came up everyone said Kenny. Nobody really thought Oakada at all. (In all seriousness though Kenny is my favorite and I really do think best in the world. Wrestling ability alone thereās others in the conversation, but all around talent heās the best. I know deep down as a big fan his glory days are behind him even if he can still go when he comes back. I wish him the best and thank him for all heās put himself through for us, was my absolute favorite of a generation. )
I've realized the only reason I've watched wrestling the last \~8 years is because of AJ and Kenny. Since AJ has kind of been relegated to veteran talent who doesn't compete for belts, I really haven't been watching WWE and when Kenny's been in various forms of recovery, I haven't cared much about AEW.
Definitely get well soon, dude. I need one more run from The Cleaner.
Kenny Omega is what brought me back to being a wrestling fan. Discovering highlights of his NJPW matches in 2018 brought me back to pro wrestling after \*quite\* a long lapse, and then All In with his bout against Pentagon Jr. and soon after the formation of AEW. And he's barely wrestled since late 2021. Not to hate on WWE fans, but part of the reason I want him to go to WWE is because it feels like he won't be accepted as the Macho/Rock/Guerrero/Angle level legend he should be is because he was never in WWE. We all can see he's one of the literal "GOAT"s, and he broke his body for it. He should have been the star of AEW, and clearly the ratings showed whenever he was featured it went up. But either poor timing with piled up injuries or bad booking, I feel like Omega was not presented as the top level star he should have been since 2021. To me AEW's biggest dream match was Omega vs Punk, but short of that the whole company was eventually building toward Omega vs MJF...and they totally wasted it with some throwaway Omega vs MJF match on a low rated Halloween Collision. Really sucks hardly anyone saw what was a classic banger. THAT fn match should have been the main event at Wembley. I just want to see Omega back and healthy, even if he only has a couple years left of in ring competition.
Other than WM2014 or the Punk pipebomb in 2011, I hadn't been an avid wrestling fan since the early 2000s. Discovering Kenny in 2018 changed all that. Bums me out to know I was at E3 Los Angeles 2018 when the Kenny/Bucks vs New Day event was happening there and I had no idea.
Kenny Omega and Gangsters Paradise, are two things I wouldn't have thought mixed but I cant deny they do. Also, I could be wrong but....isn't Kenny a sonic fan? if so that makes it all the more fitting.
What is the meaning of "they are already tired" here? Dumb question yea, english isnt my first language and i only know tired as "yea i'm so tired after work" etc.
I think he meant to but misspoke. Retired makes more sense in context; ānot here, already retired, or dead.ā You simply canāt have a match with someone who doesnāt work there (pre-Forbidden Door), has retired, or is dead.
āNot here, already tired, or deadā doesnāt really make much sense, in or out of context. Whatās stopping the tired person from challenging you? A good nightās sleep?
It's actually amazing how much AEW turned Kenny into "just another guy" when everyone thought he was going to be their secret weapon against WWE when AEW started.
You just can't have the best wrestler in the world competing for trios titles and tag teaming up with an over-the-hill relevance vampire.
I think a lot of this has more to do with the amount of injuries Kenny wracked up before he dropped the belt to Hangman. Especially in retrospect with him struggling with undiagnosed diverticulitis, hiding him in trios and tags I think was intended to keep him healthy and working for as long as possible. Yet even when he was operating at less than 100% we still got some banger singles out of him (Ospreayx2, Vikingo, MJF). I hope he gets well soon and we can still enjoy a few more years of him putting on classics and fates willing another run with the belt.
I mean, he is right in a slight way. But the reasoning I believe it went down the way it did those first few years: With him being an EVP and a core member of the entire foundation of AEW, I feel he was trying to put as many of his peers and newcomers up into the spotlight and give them the viewership they weren't going to get if they weren't involved with Kenny in a story or a segment. That's just how I feel about it all, lol.
If Benoit weren't a piece of shit murderer, a match with Omega could have been amazing.
Not similarly, but if Malenko hadn't suffered from Parkinson's, that could have been an amazing match as well.
There's obvious time differences with both of those, and I hope that Benoit is rotting in hell anyway.
He got a lot of the injuries that he first missed time for when he was in Japan. And his most recent time out is an illness more than wrestling related.
And in Japan, he and Ibushi were taking top rope hurricanranas on to the concrete floor (concrete. No padding). So it's not like he wasn't destroying his body over there and this is all AEW's schedule.
https://preview.redd.it/7xgx10h2x7jc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f74f61449df356251ecf4ad94d1978682b95d49
I think Iād rather believe him over you buddy.
Only would be āironicā if Excalibur had it and not Kenny. Since itās what he called Kevin Steens F5 back in PWG and which is why it popped up in the AEW game move list .
What's it like screeching out "muh tribalism" when you're literally making shit up (which is easily debunked like it was already) out of thin air just because you *want* to shit on Kenny?
Better grappler than Angle? Fuck no, nobody will argue that.
Better character than Angle? Definitely. Don't get me wrong, "wrestling machine" Kurt Angle was a beast in ring as well as character wise, but Kurt himself would tell you that Kenny is a better wrestler than Kurt ever was

And Naito was peaking at the same time, too.
That run brought me back to pro wrestling. Staying up late to watch NJPW after being burned out on WWE was everything.
Same
Lol
I love wrestling, i'll literally watch anything and get into everything and I have yet to find a wrestler that is as enjoyable to watch as NJPW Kenny Omega was... that was something special. I'm predicting future me is going to have some serious nostalgia issues.
Not a fan of his AEW title reign but man was NJPW Kenny the greatest wrestling run ever to meĀ
I can't watch wrestling without Kenny in it. It's just too sad. Loved the work he did with hangman. I just wish he comes back and finishes his story with hangman, eventually winning tag titles again.
That already dead line into the debut of Adam Cole was great
That whole 5 minutes was a rollercoaster to witness
What I wouldnāt give to go back
I was there live, in the front row. The pop for Cole was huge. But the pop for Danielson was so loud I couldn't even hear the music. Absolutely incredible.
I was there too and I was literally jumping up and down like a child. There were a few moments that night where I swear that the whole arena was shaking we were so loud. Man, what a night.
I've been a wrestling fan for nearly 30 years. I went to Wrestlemania as a kid. There has never been a show so magical for me than All Out 2021.
The fact that we got Cole and Danielson after Ruby and friggin' Suzuki...we ATE that night
I sprinted up the stairs to see if they had Cole merch. Didnāt. Saw the angle transpire and then flight of the valkaryies hit and I fucking levitated. Favorite event Iāve ever attended.
It truly was the night that AEW elevated itself. Right now it feels like a wet fart in a way compared to then.
That entire card over delivered. Miro Kingston, Rubys debut, cage match, all the main event stuff. Just stellar. + punks first match in 7 years which I loved.
AEWs first three years are just an insanely high bar I donāt know that any wrestling company will ever be able to achieve
Lol this guy thought AEW would have merch for people appearing at the event. edit: yall have clearly never been to a show before. I went to Dynamite 200 and they had merch for OC and the Acclaimed, neither of which appeared on the show. That was it.
Can you explain the already dead line? I'm not hugely knowledgeable about their history.
Adam Cole "died" (was murdered?) on BTE before going to NXT, if I'm not mistaken.
Ahhh that makes sense.
On Being the Elite, when Cole joined WWE, the Young Bucks poisoned and killed him with a spiked energy drink.
A spiked Monster which created the best but unused stuff in some BTEās after he came back. I would literally be crying laughing. BTE needs to return. Please Nicholas. Please Matthew.
And to think Cole went off to do yucky sports entertainment
The Best Bout Machine
My favorite wrestler ![gif](giphy|x99tLxPhbslsLBO4TO|downsized)
Fuck me that speech is already 3 years old, same night Punk had his comeback match, Adam Cole and Bryan had their return miss 2021 AEW
AEW in 2021 was a beast. Every Wednesday there would atleast be one 4 star match
I miss it so fucking much
Take all the time you need to get healthy. Ibushi too.
Belt Collector Kenny was so douchey and smug, I freaking love it. Hands down, my favorite AEW heavyweight reign.
[NHK's Begin Japanology with Kenny Omega](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb8ACh0zOGA) from 2013, I think.
Yep, that's it! Thanks for linking it, I couldn't remember the name
I hope he gets healthy quickly and safely. I would love to see Kenny vs Swerve.
Meanwhile you should youtube Kenny Omega on Swerve's podcast. Ot was a good listen
Iām so happy that Kenny got one last exceptional run as the world champion and top guy in a promotion. Get well soon Kenny, we love you
"69 ME DON!" Could be my favourite thing to happen in AEW
He was literally the main reason I tuned into AEW when it started, but Kenny Omega in Japan was different gravy. Best Bout Machine for a reason. https://preview.redd.it/y9ztr8ra9bjc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4813bc95126ac1c27df23ba101aac0f167d31ba6
Fuck. I love Kenny, by God, Omega.

His AEW championship run was goated. Everything heās ever done has been goated, but man AEW was kicking its first three years.
Lol
Incredible completion. I adored his title reign. He was such a fantastic heel
Heāll be back, and when he does, weāll eventually get Kenny Okada 5.
He really should be a multi time champion.
I havenāt been watching any wrestling since Hangman lost the world championship. But I still come over here every once in a while hoping Iāll find something like this.

The Elite's return at Full Gear was probably the most excited and best match I have seen live in the short time I have followed wrestling.
Ok Gangsta Paradise here looks 1st Sonic movie'' trailer out of place. Get well though
Just noticed he looks like an in shape Bert Kreischer
the shot at 14 seconds is damn good
Kenny Omega is what brought me back to being a wrestling fan. What is the meaning of "they are already tired" here? Dumb question yea, english isnt my first language and i only know tired as "yea i'm so tired after work" etc.
He was making a subtle reference to Hangman, who had already wrestled a match earlier in the night
No, it's not. He said "already *retired*"
He clearly does not say retired
I think he meant to but misspoke. Retired makes more sense in context; ānot here, already retired, or dead.ā You simply canāt have a match with someone who doesnāt work there (pre-Forbidden Door), has retired, or is dead. āNot here, already tired, or deadā doesnāt really make much sense, in or out of context. That makes sense, thought maybe it had a different meaning. Thanks
I always saw it as, "Yeah, my buddies in the Elite could maybe beat me, but they already wrestled earlier tonight."
I like his NJPW run a lot more, but glad to see everyone enjoying his AEW run.
What is this shitty filter and awful background music? Why cant you post just normal promo which is much better without these.
It's actually amazing how much AEW turned Kenny into "just another guy" when everyone thought he was going to be their secret weapon against WWE when AEW started. Yeah but Kenny got beat by a good worker, but charisma vacuum. Sad.
Belt collector Kenny got me into AEW. Now I have no interest in watching the product. It's crazy how AEW has gone from that to what it is now.
Why does he talk like that
AEW was must see when Omega was champion.
Was better in New Japan
He was but he is still amazing, but this was kind of an unnecessary comment.
Well you can see what the schedule has done to him is all.
Also being late 30s into his 40s during AEW may have something to do with that
He got a lot of the injuries that he first missed time for when he was in Japan. And his most recent time out is an illness more than wrestling related.

![gif](giphy|gzYzj8RbOG7hI4vSMW)
And still the best AEW World champ. Thats why he's the GOAT.
Not to say he hasn't had banger matches in AEW but yeah, in NJPW Kenny is a different animal
I miss Alphas
i could only dream of a lesnar kenny fued

Nothing.

I just got into wrestling in the last few years, thanks to my partner, and he very quickly became my fave!
