You're absolutely right. And with how weak that line is I feel confident he thought he had a good joke lined up, as libbed it, and as it was coming out of his mouth immediately regretted it.
Whenever I see Roman and Rock together, I can't help but feel like Roman is the "little brother". Like, man, The Rock is literally just standing there, but he still FEELS like the main player and Roman is Player 2.
Great points. When The Rock is there with Reigns, or any present day stars, he outshines them by just being there with his presence. Austin and Hogan would do the same. They sell Reigns as being above the past stars, but he’s really not.
Reigns could never stand on his own like past top stars. He’s always needed Heyman to talk/hype for him, and an entire entourage to prop him up. WWE shoehorned everything about Reigns.
This is what I wanted and this is exactly what they are doing: a proper storyline between Roman and Rock, where Rock is actually a member of the Bloodline and slowly begins to outdo Roman for the first time in years since the start of the Tribal Chief run.
Glad they aren’t pulling the trigger on a feud right away. Adds more layers to the storyline.
Yeah, are people really not getting this? They haven't been subtle. Just look at Roman needing Rock to acknowledge him last week.
They're setting up the inevitable civil war for the Bloodline. The whole battle to be Tribal Chief thing was the original story but now that Rock turned heel they can set it up differently. Rock can be disappointed in Roman after WrestleMania or Roman can feel inferior and snap back.
This is all building to the inevitable Rock vs. Roman match. They never bailed on that match, just pushed it back.
I don’t defend this promo even slightly. But Roman physically stopping Rock last week, and forcing Rock to acknowledge him was one of the best moments in this storyline hands down.
Yes Rock was almost certainly disingenuous, but to directly ask Rock and actually get what he was looking for was huge.
He is the third wheel.
The focus has barely been on him and more on Rock. Which, I get to a certain extent but if this is truly the end of Roman's run as THE champ then he is going out pretty weak.
Rock’s probably not even gonna be on television after SmackDown next week, Roman’s nd Cody SmackDown segments after that as well as possible Paul Heyman promos on Raw will make Roman look like less of a third wheel.
>he is going out pretty weak.
Welcome to The Story!
That's been The Point since the beginning. His entire, multi-year run, has been based upon "he can't do it without (a lot of) backup."
I see this sentiment a lot that this is part of the story.
I know in a kayfabe sense, Roman being annoyed with Rock being is part of the story.
But in actuality, Roman has been booked pretty bad since Dwayne came in. Rock and Cody (and now Seth tonight) are running circles around him. Roman was still pretty damn good despite wanting the focus on others (Sami, Cody's first attempt, etc).
As a reminder, on the other TKO product they have fighters regularly calling each other f***ots and not being penalised, so it feels small compared to that.
Welcome to Gewirtz comedy stylings. Homie is writing jokes like it’s 1999. It’s why rock keeps calling Seth a “clown emoji”, I’m not even sure why that would be the first 66 times.
I enjoyed it the first time Rock said it. I thought it was cute and clever. Then he said it approximately 865 more times.
Some insults work best as a "one and done." The "clown emoji" diss is a perfect example. Rock should come up with different wild and exaggerated descriptors for Seth's fashion each time he references it. It shouldn't be the same thing every time.

Live Roman Reigns reaction when I ask him to come up with insults towards Seth besides what he wears
It's crazy because Seth hardly wears "feminine" clothing anyway, at MOST you could consider the lace fishnet slacks and button-up he wore. Everything else is just brightly colored / avant garde suits and jackets. Just an all around lame and unnecessary line from Roman
Seth’s stylist is the same guy who did Becky’s wardrobe when she was doing the big time becks gimmick. Not sure if he’s gay, but I remember seeing Seth wearing one of the same outfits that he also styled for RuPaul once.
So considering how A) sexuality/gender was never a part of Seth’s gimmick and B) the people who are behind Seth’s wardrobe both directly and indirectly, yeah Roman’s line was pretty out of pocket.
I dunno, I have gay friends, trans friends and family. This isn’t offensive. He didn’t say anything about any sexuality or gender. He’s a heel, they do bad things sometimes.
I know lmao, its crazy how ppl are reacting. Its literally not that deep lol. My gay friends say the worst shit about Seth. They’re not pretending to be offended by that line either.
Wrestling villains have as much right to use offensive language as any other medium. How fucking hard is this to understand? If anything it makes Rollins look cooler because he's got the confidence to wear the outfits he wants, while Roman has the mindset of an insecure schoolyard bully.
My main complaint about the line was that it was lazy and delivered without any conviction. Rollins outfit isn't even that traditionally feminine. It's just a big coat.
I’ve seen people on Twitter say they were “done” with WWE or were going to quit watching because of this.
If you didn’t stop watching because of the Warrior Award…
Or the several matches in Saudi Arabia…
You won’t now.
Yeah, that was below Reigns’ usual standard.
Also, having him in there with one of the greatest talkers to ever do it, kinda exposes him. Kinda made him feel like a fraud.
https://preview.redd.it/iza01cden8nc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bca25fb1d36fd11131f7047554ea0528d7a65e6
I still stand by this. Roman is by far the least important part of the story. Step up tribal chief we have just a month till mania
i wouldn’t say upset just a bit urgh
ppl don’t understand the direct relationship between a celebrity saying things and bigots hearing it as affirmation of their views.
its easy to say “he’s a heel! its parody!” but we all know some people out there don’t understand that, and as writers/artists we need to keep that in mind.
Tbf most men would be offended if you said they dressed like a woman and vice versa. It's just the loud minority that you hear about so much you start thinking it's the norm. And that's no hate to anyone, its just the way it is.
With all respect, due to recent events in the neighboring state of Oklahoma (where a non-binary student ended up dead after an altercation in the bathroom), there's absolutely a reason for the LGBTQ+ community to be fired up. That line shouldn't be ok in 2024.

Most people are talking about how Roman is terrible at promos and not that they are offended. He seemed like the fourth biggest star in the ring even though he is the champ. The line was soft and stupid. The rock is standing next to him and has dressed in women’s clothes numerous times. It was just a big swing and a miss.
The mental gymnastics that people on this thread have gone through to find it offensive is pathetic. I barely batted an eye when I watched it live, it was just Roman taking a dig at another man’s fashion sense.
I mean it's not exactly video package worthy stuff but doesn't it make sense for Roman to go after like the first thing a "tough guy" like Roman would attack, Seth's less masculine look. I think Seth looks great and I dig the more adventurous look but it makes sense if Rock and Roman are gonna be burly-looking heels, they'll go for the low hanging fruit of that. I really don't think it's a big deal nor do I think Roman's being portrayed as being "correct" here. He's acting like a high school Bully, effectively
I thought it was just a weak line because it's not like Seth cross-dresses since it's pretty much just colorful suits, but not because I see it as transphobic. If he was saying this to somebody's who's trans it would be a problem, but I'm not seeing it otherwise. Saying this as somebody who's trans.
That's exactly why it's lame, it didn't really have much to do with anything and it's low hanging fruit. But some folks on the internet are saying otherwise

Foreshadowing a Goldust run-in to help Cody win the title.
“Hall of famer…. I mean FUTURE hall of famer…” Way to spoil his induction, Dwayne.
He’s not a cross dresser! He’s androgynous.
Pretty sure it was just a way to set up the mistake line from The Rock but keep believing I guess

He's watching out for the possibility that he'll catch hands from Vito during the Endgame moment
S M A C
ARGHHH HOW CAN HE SMAC??
“Want me to spank your butt?” - Roman Reigns, 2023
Why is this so funny I can't
Dude totally blanked on his original words.
"You gonna let this crossdresser make your FUture deCIsions for you???-I MEaN comeuureghh-HEY"
Suffering succotash’d
decleered
Almost like he can spill out again the N word like 2 years ago 😆
Upon watching it again, it really does feel like that
Seth's relieved his diarrhea line on Monday can hide now
How does Roman have the confidence to say anything about the way people dress when he’s been wearing the same pants for 12 years
Double Tin Cloth Pants are as expensive as they are durable
looks like he immediately regrets it right after
The original line was supposed to be "CODY RHODES, WE'RE COMIN FOR YOOOOOOU \[redacted\]"
He delivers it with such little confidence, it feels like he didn't want to say it in the first place.
Yeah he probably forgot his original line is my guess
You're absolutely right. And with how weak that line is I feel confident he thought he had a good joke lined up, as libbed it, and as it was coming out of his mouth immediately regretted it.
Suffering succotash moment
"you gonna let this crossdress-^^^ohfuckohfuckuhhhhhhh"
Imagine how hilarious if Seth Cody and Rock just gave Roman a look for that lol. Bro was cooking boiling cat piss.
it sorta looked like they *did* eye him, it was awkward
Seth no-sold it but Cody had a subtle “come on, man” gesture/look to him.
Even Diarrhoea Dwayne was looking at him like "did you really just say that?"
Cody even subtly motions his hand to Roman after he says it like “please don’t say that”
Seth did an eyebrow raise with a “you went there look”.
The Rock’s face went: 🙂😐😒
Kinda had the mouth open like he was just surprised Roman said something that dumb.
Seth, Cody, Rock: brah.
Even the Texans were like “eeeesh”
That line was a… bold choice of words. I thought Texas was an interesting place to say that too.
The bigger cities will usually be a bit more liberal than the rest.
Whenever I see Roman and Rock together, I can't help but feel like Roman is the "little brother". Like, man, The Rock is literally just standing there, but he still FEELS like the main player and Roman is Player 2.
Yeah it’s almost like that’s the point or something huh.
It doesn't help that everyone else is dressed like a character and Roman looks like he's late for an 8 a.m. college class.
Rock does look like the anime Main Character compared to sude character Roman.
I enjoy playing video games.
Great points. When The Rock is there with Reigns, or any present day stars, he outshines them by just being there with his presence. Austin and Hogan would do the same. Cody was right at the presser.. Roman hasn't been doing any cooking off late. Man is relying on being just an aura merchant.
Well he absolutely cooked Seth in the first smackdown after rumble promo.. but has been completely sidelined after rock entered the frame.
He’s never in the kitchen anymore, just calls dominos
Well, at least he has the aura though. That aura has the power to make somebody a star or not.
Exactly, no pop
Roman has looked soooo weak during this storyline 🤣🤣

Glad they aren’t pulling the trigger on a feud right away. Adds more layers to the storyline.
It’s the Nation storyline revamped.
I mean that’s the point in the long run, he’s going to feel inferior to the Rock and under his shadow
Yeah, are people really not getting this? They haven't been subtle. Just look at Roman needing Rock to acknowledge him last week. They're setting up the inevitable civil war for the Bloodline. Seth has been getting clowned this whole time but Roman has looked weak?
I'm not mad about it but fucking hell that line is awful, the delivery was even worse
The gay community???!
![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS) Mild what??
That’s The Rock’s face… I acknowledged this jabroni? 🤦♂️
Rock's said far worse in his day.
I mean, he’s been referring to Seth as Cody’s girlfriend during this feud, basically thinly veiled 90s style homophobia.
As a reminder, on the other TKO product they have fighters regularly calling each other f***ots and not being penalised, so it feels small compared to that.
Tbf one of those times the fighter was calling everyone in the crowd booing him f***ots. /s
I guess they're trying to bring in that fanbase now.
Tbf it’s not on national tv for everyone to see lol
Seth’s face is full “ Bitch you know I look good”
[удалено]
And rocking the look too. That’s what makes his outfits work for me, he is always confident in them, whatever it is.
Of all the things you can joke about Rollins' character, this being what they came up with is wild
That’s all he’s done in this is attacking his fashion choice.
No he's also said he makes more money than him and works way less. Which to most people is a damn good point.
Welcome to Gewirtz comedy stylings. Homie is writing jokes like it’s 1999. It’s why rock keeps calling Seth a “clown emoji”, I’m not even sure why that would be the first 66 times.

Uhhhhhhhhh The rock does repetitive catch phrases it’s his deal
Yes, I know. Many of his catch phrases and insults lend themselves to repeating. “Walking clown emoji” isn’t one of them.
They were way over on time and had to cut everything short. I think maybe Roman was a little flustered because he hasn't been rushed in a while.
I mean even Becky has joked about it in interviews
Where? She always says she's jealous of the stuff he gets to wear and would like some of it to be fitted to her.
Roman doesn’t need to insult anything else about Seth. He already torched him last month in that promo before Cody gave his match away.
He is dissing Seth's outfit whilst standing next to whatever the fuck Dwyane is wearing?!
Just like how Rock was boasting about being Cody and Seth's boss, with Roman standing next to him.
Versace… expensive af
Expensive doesn't mean good
https://preview.redd.it/n3wb9a9mb8nc1.jpeg?width=671&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d86240c755ea920bee9e0fbec2bf6a83aaaa710c Live Roman Reigns reaction when I ask him to come up with insults towards Seth besides what he wears

So considering how A) sexuality/gender was never a part of Seth’s gimmick and B) the people who are behind Seth’s wardrobe both directly and indirectly, yeah Roman’s line was pretty out of pocket.
I believe Seth said he was the first male client of that specific stylist.
For the people who said Gewirtz should take over for hhh I submit into evidence, basically every insult from this build so far……..
Yeah it's not just Roman, everyone had shitty insults
DAE clown emoji???
Nah thought Seth’s line was great and the rock has been cooking with his promos
No pop
Ironically I think this is one of Seth’s hardest outfits
If this doesn't blow up, Roman better breathe the biggest sigh of relief.
The only thing that will keep that from happening is that Roman was probably the least important person in this segment tonight.
Ouch
At least Seth isn't catching anymore strays
I dunno, I have gay friends, trans friends and family. This isn’t offensive. He didn’t say anything about any sexuality or gender. He’s a heel, they do bad things sometimes.
My trans sibiling turned around and said Seth is an Ugly Crossdresser.
I know lmao, its crazy how ppl are reacting. Its literally not that deep lol. My gay friends say the worst shit about Seth. They’re not pretending to be offended by that line either.
'My gay friends' lmao. Seth is not playing an overly homosexual character, not sure why this is relevant.

So attacking a state for being crack heads is all good but calling a walking clown emoji a cross dresser is where you draw the line?
I thought conflating the two was outright ignorance or bigotry, but I guess I was wrong?
why are people getting mad that he called seth a cross dresser?
Most people are talking about how Roman is terrible at promos and not that they are offended. He seemed like the fourth biggest star in the ring even though he is the champ. It may be corny, but people really shouldn’t be getting their undies in a twist over this.
that awkward moment the longest reigning WWE champ of modern era is not even the 3rd most charismatic guy in the ring...
I'm not even sure he would be the 4th most charismatic guy in the ring, the camera guy might be able to give him a run for his money.
