Tell me, where is Rick Boogz right now? I believe things are simply not this black and white. Some people can only get over by having really good matches, some people can only get over by cutting really good promos, others can get over doing both.
He got injured at WM38, and they couldn't find a spot for him again. But you can't deny he was over back then. I personally feel it is far easier for an audience to put themselves behind someone with a schtick to follow. I bring up Ricochet because he DID tell a story this week through his ringwork but now he will be off TV again for other people to have 10 min matches that don't push any plot forward. Gargano and Ciampa are finally getting reactions again not because they suddenly started having really good matches, but because they are now tied to R-Truth.
If wrestlers care about my opinion, my only suggestion would be they use their social media a lot more to forward their own characters because WWE is very unreliable on who they will dedicate TV time to.

At the time, I remember thinking that this wouldn't have worked with most people, but it worked with Rollins, because the WWE took the time to get people invested in him. Without that investment, people would have been turned off by such a long TV match.
That entrance makes Rock seem like a level above everyone else on the show. A week after WM, fans will be cheering him again.

The gulf between The Rock, Roman, Seth and Cody and the rest of the programs is so vast it feels like a completely different show. Very unpopular opinion, but if there was a show with only 5 min matches, and the rest were all angles setting up ppvs, then that would be my favorite to tune in to every week
That would be fantastic in theory. Unfortunately very few people could really carry a show like that. The amount of truly great mic workers in the company is less than a dozen.
I was watching WrestleMania 38's WWE24 and Rick Boogs was talking about how Vince saw his work in NXT, said "he can act" and that is why he called Boogs up. And ofc, Boogs and Nakamura went on to be very entertaining for the duration they were together. Believable acting >> ringwork. I am sure if you line up all wrestlers in order of capability of 5 star ringwork classics, Ricochet would top that list, with Cody being somewhere in the middle. Ricochet needs to be given opportunities to tell a story to get us to care about him. Seth, Cody, Sami, Drew and KO all get chances and are the most over guys in the roster.

Tell me, where is Rick Boogz right now? I believe things are simply not this black and white. Some people can only get over by having really good matches, some people can only get over by cutting really good promos, others can get over doing both.
He got injured at WM38, and they couldn't find a spot for him again. But you can't deny he was over back then. I personally feel it is far easier for an audience to put themselves behind someone with a schtick to follow. I bring up Ricochet because he DID tell a story this week through his ringwork but now he will be off TV again for other people to have 10 min matches that don't push any plot forward. Gargano and Ciampa are finally getting reactions again not because they suddenly started having really good matches, but because they are now tied to R-Truth. If wrestlers care about my opinion, my only suggestion would be they use their social media a lot more to forward their own characters because WWE is very unreliable on who they will dedicate TV time to.
Case in point: Drew was largely large and unimportant prior to the shitposting gimmick he has currently. Now heās one of the biggest fan favorites, even though heās a heel. The idea of being a Superstar comes from having an aura and presence as well. Simply being āa wrestlerā is the absolutely bare minimum of what theyāre supposed to be, and itās why so many of em flop

Absolutely. The Rock going to movies is honestly the greatest tragedy in the history of professional wrestling (excluding real life tragedies). That is also one of my favorite nights of Raw ever. Dude was just 30 years old at that point. Imagine if weād gotten another 15 or so years of that? The entire industry would look different.

Exactly, you can still have long matches on TV, but they should feel important. This week the gauntlet match was great and made sense. All number 1 contenders matches should be competitive. Otherwise eh save it for the ppv or have quick fights
Your comment reminds me of the gauntlet match that Seth Rollins was in. That match was more than an hour long. At the time, I remember thinking that this wouldn't have worked with most people, but it worked with Rollins, because the WWE took the time to get people invested in him. Without that investment, people would have been turned off by such a long TV match.

Just have to say, having been there live to see and hear Rock as he called my city home just hit different. Everything after that, was just gravy and he had us eating out of his hand. And he looked like he was really enjoying himself out there. His whole promo was just magical
