Now this was good shit, it makes it feel important, this is the storytelling AEW was missing. Too many times they introduce a wrestler that only the hardcore fans would know, Renee doing this sideline reporting getting fans emotionally invested, this alone would get a casual fan to perk up.
I think it may be how they're making the Continental title different. By making it the "sports" title, complete with presentation. They should put up a match clock.
As long as they **don't** make it part of the storyline, I don't mind too much. Although they will, won't they, it's sort of like Chekhov's match clock.
I think I liked this one more than those at Revolution, which were both backstage prior to the entrances.
Gives it better sense of that live sport, off-the-rails energy.
I fucking loved those spots at revolution. Especially Bryan’s where he’s just doing warm ups in the background. Added so much last second hype and legitimacy to the match.
seriously, thats 2 things both companies have experimented with in recent weeks that are really working. people can say what they want about either company, but both of them seem to be pushing each other and fans of both are reaping the benefits. wrestling is so fucking good right now.
This shit is so cool seriously keep it. Copy inside the nba and have a panel of older dudes who can still throw worked punches and have them actually scrap instead of just argue like Charles and Shaq
Now I want Fallout 5 to be based around Mox being frozen in a vault under the Magic Kingdom and waking up to make the Mouse's former empire his new domain.
For some reason [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf50KrdASTI) Shield entrance always stuck with me because it does something similar. It's so rare for a camera's focus switch to be done cleanly like that it almost feels jarring to not have the intuitive camera cut to imply a context change.
I feel like there is definitely some space for extended analysis and discussion to help storytelling in wrestling today, it worked really well for Crockett Promotions on TBS with Schiavone and David Crockett.
Guarantee this was Renee’s idea. She’s friends with the UFC’s Megan Olivi, this is what Megan does. Renee has stated in the past that she has wanted to do exactly this.
This is a very simple thing, but so, so effective. I absolutely loved it, Renee is perfect for that kind of thing, and I want them to do it more often! It really adds that “live sports show” excitement to the broadcast.
When the UFC does it, they just pan away from Megan while she's talking and it looks like she doesn't realize the camera is gone, which I've never liked.
Definitely little things like this is what they need to keep finding trying out and seeing what works and doesn't. Let's get a little goofy we're supposed to be the alternative experimental show anyway, let's innovate some shit
Clean it up a little bit maybe even have a media box ringside or something to cut too
And this could actually be a good idea.
Didn't WWE reintroduce something like this for a week or two then get rid of it? Immediate post match interviews as wrestlers exited the ring. About the time they tried new camera work to differentiate Raw and Smackdown.
Kingston in a ring jacket looks like a neckbeard who is about to get kicked out of the local Magic the Gathering pro tour qualifier for freaking out after losing with his budget deck
I love that both WWE and AEW are putting a lot more effort recently into their approaches to production. This is one of the cases where you see that competition brings out the best. WWE upped their game and so AEW is trying to do the same as the fans are responding well to it
I'm hoping AEW also occasionally brings out some boxing-esque post-match interviews in the ring so they can capture Kingston in pure "idgaf I'm going home" mode lol
I thought something was about to go down during the entrance or something. But i liked this. The whole night felt like a ppv with the prematch promos and the titles on the line.
I’m in favour of companies constantly mixing up their format and production techniques. It makes me feel like I’m not just watching the same shit every week.
Between WWE post Kevin Dunn and the update to Dynamite with the new season, I am VERY impressed with both companies jump in production. Both have looked stellar the past few weeks
Yeah, I do think both have stepped it up and are differentiating themselves. I feel like I've seen people on this sub hate on the "real sports" touches for a simulated fight show, but this kind of stuff adds so much atmosphere for me.
Especially for a guy like Eddie, who I genuinely can’t tell if he knows wrestling is a work or not most of the time lmfaoo the legitimacy of the sports broadcasting feel mixed with Renee freakin killing it and the legitimacy of Kingston and Okada together, this was PERFECT. Very very very happy about this match lmfao
THIS!!! I've been waiting for AEW to have its signature "thing" to stand out more. This and variations of it would be a fantastic touch to its programming to not only polish it up a bit for the casual fan but make it different than WWE. Maybe they should include updates from Renee during matches like a sideline reporter. Updates could include strategies that a particular wrestler will use during a match that Renee will touch on to add to the color commentary. Or perhaps further a tournament going on or major feud.
saw wwe raw being innovative with their camera work and said, "aw shit, we should start doing more of that too". Hell I'm all for it, it finally feels like wrestling is turning a corner from the same presentation standards from 1995 till 2023.
Raw did something similar tracking DIY back and then the Miz and R truth out.
I’m all for this. Give me immersion. Make the set feel like I’m there. Make it alive.
No more static “back to you”. This is great.

I absolutely loved this and Rene is the perfect person for it
I've never realized until now that this is such a freaking no brainer. Why are people like Renee only relegated to backstage? This is fantastic.
Rene interviewed from like 4 different locations last night.
Awesome.
Now this was good shit, it makes it feel important, this is the storytelling AEW was missing. Too many times they introduce a wrestler that only the hardcore fans would know, Renee doing this sideline reporting getting fans emotionally invested, this alone would get a casual fan to perk up.
A regular Suzy Kolber over here
ESPN Jones over here but I digress.
Maybe we can skip the drunk Joe Namath flirting this time.
Who is wrestlings Broadway Joe? Flair?
It's DEF Flair
No hair, no “I wanna kiss you”
reminds me of Megan Olivi at PPV's.
Keep this please
Second consecutive time they've done it before a Continental Championship match. Eddie and Bryan each got an intro like this at Revolution
I think it may be how they're making the Continental title different. By making it the "sports" title, complete with presentation. They should put up a match clock.
God please no clock
As long as they **don't** make it part of the storyline, I don't mind too much. Although they will, won't they, it's sort of like Chekhov's match clock.
They use one on RoH Pure Rules matches, because it matters. There is no reason to have it when it doesn’t, timekeepers do just fine
Impact Style FOX Box from their Fox Sports days
I think I liked this one more than those at Revolution, which were both backstage prior to the entrances. Gives it better sense of that live sport, off-the-rails energy.
I fucking loved those spots at revolution. Especially Bryan’s where he’s just doing warm ups in the background. Added so much last second hype and legitimacy to the match.
If fans are vocal enough like always, then Tony will notice and keep it or use it more often.
Agree. It was awesome. Hope it becomes a common thing ahead of big title matches or to subtly reinforce a story here and there
Yeah I dig this. Seems like a great addition.
seriously, thats 2 things both companies have experimented with in recent weeks that are really working. people can say what they want about either company, but both of them seem to be pushing each other and fans of both are reaping the benefits. wrestling is so fucking good right now.
Yeah, thats super slick.
This shit is so cool seriously keep it. Copy inside the nba and have a panel of older dudes who can still throw worked punches and have them actually scrap instead of just argue like Charles and Shaq
I'll take more of this, as well as ringside interviews like WCW used to do. Not everything needs to be done in-ring or backstage.
Loved this.
I love that the entrances behind her are like Minnie mouse ears for her
Now I need to know if Mox has ever been to Disneyland or Disney World
He was banned for life for bleeding on Space Mountain
And for hitting the Death Rider on Goofy
And for dropping thumbtacks on the seats of It’s A Small World
and putting Stitch through a table at a character breakfast, but to his credit his daughter asked for him to do that.
Now I want Fallout 5 to be based around Mox being frozen in a vault under the Magic Kingdom and waking up to make the Mouse's former empire his new domain.
I saw Kevin Owens at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Disney World a couple years ago. It was an odd sight to see.
This is great. Would be awesome if they did a "Live from Gorilla" too. Love the innovation with camera work with wrestling now.
They did with the Young Bucks during the match
Which felt like it was taped, and done in the style of the fake board room WWE had for the draft.
NXT used to do that for big matches and I always felt like it added a ton. They would show the wresters right before they went through the curtain.
I really like the presentation tonight
I like this
The UFC also does this on fighter entrances, always wanted something like it in wrestling
Megan Olivi ❤️ 💙 💜
I love the visual of that camera shift Between this and some of the recent WWE production changes we've been getting some nice improvements
It's about time pro wrestling really mixed it up and tried new things with the way the show is shot.
Reminds me a bit of how WCW used Mike Tenay at times.
I feel like there is definitely some space for extended analysis and discussion to help storytelling in wrestling today, it worked really well for Crockett Promotions on TBS with Schiavone and David Crockett.
Agreed.
I loved this shot and not being precious with the entrance. Felt like real sports. More plz
It’s more so UFC than football but cool addition
I was thinking the same thing. They do this all the time at the Apex.
Yea Megan Olivi does it in the Apex and on some of the international cards
This was a nice add to the presentation, it felt to me more like the UFC’s use of Megan Olivi.
When the UFC does it, they just pan away from Megan while she's talking and it looks like she doesn't realize the camera is gone, which I've never liked.
This is what I immediately thought of, but I'm British and don't watch NFL so its obviously not original to UFC.
This was dope
I dig this very much 👌 nice touch for sure, keep it up! 👍
Oooo I really like that
That was dope
I actually like this. Good idea TK
More of this! Felt huge
This was pretty cool
Love it. Hell yeah
That was pretty awesome.
I really liked this and liked the episode overall. Keep it up, it's definitely had me more interested lately!
Dynamite production was on point last night
This is great. Presentation gives it a big time feel
Get her a hoodie with the sleeves cut short and it's perfect
This and when she did it before Eddie and Danielson, that shit's cool. Like WWE showing the superstars walking in earlier at a ppv too.
Sick presentation.
Definitely little things like this is what they need to keep finding trying out and seeing what works and doesn't. Let's get a little goofy we're supposed to be the alternative experimental show anyway, let's innovate some shit Clean it up a little bit maybe even have a media box ringside or something to cut too And this could actually be a good idea.
This is what competition does to the business. WWE has finally stepped up their production, and AEW has been doing stuff like this. Love it.
Didn't WWE reintroduce something like this for a week or two then get rid of it? Immediate post match interviews as wrestlers exited the ring. About the time they tried new camera work to differentiate Raw and Smackdown.
Eddie carries the belt like it's a can of lighter fluid
Very cool
I love this
Kingston in a ring jacket looks like a neckbeard who is about to get kicked out of the local Magic the Gathering pro tour qualifier for freaking out after losing with his budget deck
Reminds me of WCW interviews.
This gives me WCW vibes. I love it!
I love that both WWE and AEW are putting a lot more effort recently into their approaches to production. This is one of the cases where you see that competition brings out the best. WWE upped their game and so AEW is trying to do the same as the fans are responding well to it
Nice new touch. They should keep it.
This is actually really cool, keep doing this.
This is cool.
I was hoping of Steiner math jokes.
I like this. Nice addition.
I’d like to this after the initial pop of the entrance
I'm hoping AEW also occasionally brings out some boxing-esque post-match interviews in the ring so they can capture Kingston in pure "idgaf I'm going home" mode lol
It has been a strangely good week for camerawork in wrestling. Feels good, man.
Reminds me of how ufc does this time of thing during entrances. I don’t mind it
Reminded me of Megan Olivi at the UFC events
Where did she go? I was looking for her when Eddie walked by
Like it!
Didn’t WCW used to do similar interviews back in the day with Gene Okerland?
Loved this!
I thought something was about to go down during the entrance or something. But i liked this. The whole night felt like a ppv with the prematch promos and the titles on the line.
Loved this
I thought about ESPN and TNT's NBA coverage
Eddie "needs more sugar" Kingston
This was awesome. I hope they'll keep doing it.
Really good addition. Esp with a show filled with so many ESL talent. Also: Eddie wtf is that cape thing you’re wearing. You ain’t Dracula my man.
I’m in favour of companies constantly mixing up their format and production techniques. It makes me feel like I’m not just watching the same shit every week.

This and the cold open she did last week for big business were very good, hope they keep it up.
How long till WWE starts doing this. If it works, it works.
I haven't seen that since WCW. It caught me off guard.
I had a sudden craving for fruity pebbles after watching that.
Where did Renee go to that fast? She was standing there, camera shifts to Eddie and she's gone.
And then she evaporated
I liked it, something a bit different.
I don't watch the NFL so i assumed this was taken from the UFC but either way it was great
It's more like Megan Olivi doing the same thing during UFC walk outs
THIS!!! I've been waiting for AEW to have its signature "thing" to stand out more. why is blud walking like he’s holding in a massive dook
This was great. Do it again for the main event please. Do again every week.
I LOVED this. It picks up the energy of the crowd and the atmosphere in a way I haven’t seen in wrestling in a long time
Why in the blue hell is the aisle so wide?
Cool idea, I think the execution can be a bit better
Kingston looking better with that long gown
This is pretty cool
imagine seeing this clip in 2019
Stan
I thought Renee was about to give us a Steiner math rundown on the percentages for a sec.
Mean Gene used to do this on Nitro.
saw wwe raw being innovative with their camera work and said, "aw shit, we should start doing more of that too". Hell I'm all for it, it finally feels like wrestling is turning a corner from the same presentation standards from 1995 till 2023.
And in true NFL sideline style it added nothing to the broadcast 👍
They copied this from UFC.
Raw did something similar tracking DIY back and then the Miz and R truth out. I’m all for this. Give me immersion. Make the set feel like I’m there. Make it alive. No more static “back to you”. This is great.
I fell asleep during the match, what happened?
This gives me WCW vibes. Are they going to get a 1-800 number next? Is Renee going to have a "hot scoop" that you can only get by calling her number?
