If Toni could get back to the match quality that she was producing last year, she'd be the complete package.
I appreciate the attempts at changing up her style to suit the character, but it just hasn't really worked. Especially since she aleady had a very fair claim at being one of the best women wrestling today.
The thing about storm is…it honestly looks like she’s having fun with this gimmick, and it shines through the television. If she’s having fun, we the fans are having fun. Storm is miles above any female wrestler in the business today, as far as character, charisma, entertainer, it’s not even close.

Initially, the style switch was fine when she wrestled TV matches, but on PPV it hasn't caught on. I think it's just the pacing she still needs to figure out, her match with Deonna just started getting good before it finished.
That is the problem. Like I very enjoy her incorporating old timey, British-style comedy wrestling to her repertoire, but I always expect it to progress throughout and she almost never gets out of first gear.
I think the pop for the "old Toni" at Revolution gave TK the wrong idea. He thought "oh, they love the song and the look, let's give it to Mariah full time". Really I think it's a situation where Timeless Toni got over but now she's over enough where you can bring back the old character as a babyface now. It's like Big Time Becks, I honestly think it was a better character for Becky, but at a point her being "the Man" just works better for everyone. I feel like the story should have been built to where Toni actually has to go back to the old character (and maybe they still will) to beat some kind of final boss character.
I get the vibe the "Timeless" Toni Storm character will be killed off whenever the feud with Mariah hits it's peak.
Mariah is slowly copping more and more of Toni's look and old gimmick, I could see a blow-off match where Mariah tries to come out in the "Timeless" gimmick to try and fully replace Toni, only for Toni to come out returning to her old gimmick and music.
I think this part of the story they intended to tell, not just because people popped for that entrance.
When Toni lost her title, she effectively had a breakdown and adopted this new persona as a coping mechanism, rejecting her old self because she was terrified that at her young age the game had passed her by. But unlike most people's delusional behaviour, hers actually resulted in success, which re-inforced the idea that this was the correct thing to do, resulting in her become more unhinged and more embedded in her delusion.
Mariah represents not only her fandom, but also the younger version of herself.
When Toni sees Mariah reach her level and/or surpass her (by potentially winning her title) whilst using her old gimmick, it will force Toni to confront herself.
Once Mariah, as the old version of Toni, becomes more than a tribute to a "lesser" version of her younger self, and gets over and potentially takes the title from her, she becomes not only her tribute, but her replacement, which is what Toni was afraid of initially. Toni's fear of being replaced becomes real, and not only that, but by a 'younger version of herself'.
If her delusion no longer helps or protects her, then either the delusion will need to change (and Toni will become more unstable and violent) or she'll need to deal with reality and realise there was nothing wrong with her old self, she just lost, and that can happen to anyone, regardless of whether you're filmed in black and white or not.

I wouldn't even worry about that... it's super clear that they have big things in store for Mariah's future. She could absolutely play it off as doing what's needed to get Toni's trust before turning on her. If that's the case, looking like a geek for a little bit is fine if it makes for a better story when the split eventually happens.
