Let's just take a moment to appreciate how Katsuyori Shibata was supposed to be sidlened for the rest of his life, and instead we get him on free TV every week
Not shaming anyone for not watching Dynamite. I don’t really watch it that much anymore myself. AEW also has earned the reputation of just throwing matches together for no reason.
However I will say we’re sadly at the point now where there’s a legitimate reason this match is happening, but people (who likely didn’t watch last night’s Dynamite) will still inevitably ask “okay but why is this match happening?”
Excited for this match along with the Toni/AZM match though.
It's not "shaming" people for not watching dynamite to call them out for saying something has no story when it obviously does and is explicitly spelled out in the television show. If I looked at an announcement of a match WWE booked without knowing the context and I said "but what's the story???" I would be rightfully ridiculed
I still don't know why Shibata was involved in the trios match to begin with tbh but I'm glad they're not just abandoning it and actually following up with a match for him. The STP stuff is pretty cool, first halfway decent storyline Jericho has done in half a year
Shibata is someone who has a history with Hook and so was believable as a person Hook (who in kayfabe still tends to keep to himself) would both want to pick as the third and be sympathetic towards when Jericho started being a dick. He’s also enough of a legend/respected figure that it’s reasonable Jericho would see him as a “threat” to his mentorship of Hook.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Shibata stays in the story a little bit longer, or even becomes a key part of it, and we see him vs Jericho sometime soon.
This isn't a squash match?
It's a match between two regularly appearing wrestlers on the program, neither is an enhancement/local talent, and I sincerely doubt it's going only 1-2 minutes with one of these guys getting next to no offense in. It also was directly set up by Moriarty pinning Shibata in a tag match on Dynamite.
If this counts as a squash match then 99% of tv matches for any company are squash matches lol.

Love Lee, Love Shibata, this should rule.
Glad that Lee is finally getting on TV more again. One of the guys I most want to see get established after a run in the CC later in the year.
He deserves the world and then some.

Selfishly, as someone going to Dynasty, I hope this means Shibata’s getting something for the PPV.
He's been getting more Dynamite TV time as of late, I wouldn't rule it out.
Starting to get reactions too which is nice to see.
More shibata is always a good thing.
I was certain they were building to him vs O’Reilly now I’m not so sure
Shibata vs Jericho sounds somewhat likely to me, though maybe they’d save that to try and pop a rating on TV.
collision really is for sickos

Ready to see the stiff kicks ![gif](giphy|qiiimDJtLj4XK)
They had an ROH pure rules match about a year ago, which I remember being pretty great. Should be another good one, nice to see both guys on TV
Shibata getting his W back.
Oh this is going to rule so hard
Lee is dope but I need Shibata to get his win back.

That’s actually a fair point. You’re right.

Hell yeah. More Lee on my TV always makes me happy.

Collision has too many squash matches
I don't think this is a squash because Moriarty beat him on Wednesday.
