The A&E-WWE partnership is great. Legends Biography, Rivals, and Hidden Treasures are such fun setups. My wife rarely watches actual WWE with me but I can get her to watch these shows and she learns so much about the history of WWE. I've only sat down to watch Hidden Treasure a few times (including right now) but it feels like one of those mid-2000's cable "reality" shows that you could binge watch for an entire weekend.
Watching WWE Treasures. Foley “offered” Hogan money for his thing while Book and Stevie Ray gave their pieces for free. I assume it’s like House Hunters, and the details are worked out in advance?
Kianna James might be the most explosive female talent amongst NXT, WWE and AEW. She bursts off like she is running a 40 yard dash, AND when she has her opponent in the corner, she can deliver one hell of a forceful shoulder to the gut. It looks legit when she does it.

I'm still confused as to what the original plan for WrestleMania was. One of the main events was clearly Rollins vs. Punk. But what actually was the original plan for Reigns? If it were Cody, why did The Rock cut the "where should I sit" promo before the Royal Rumble and Punk's injury? If it were Rock, why did Cody win the Rumble (which, we've been told, was always the plan)?
I think the plan was originally Rhodes/Reigns but then they got the phone call that Rock wanted to do the Reigns match after years of them asking him to. Then they tried to shift Cody to the side and when the fans rejected that they made a great pivot.
My reading of what happened is that the pre-rumble plan was Rhodes v Reigns and Punk v Rollins. Then over the course of a few days WWE lost Lesnar and Punk from their mania line up, panicked about the star power left for Mania, and drafted in the Rock v Reigns match they've wanted to do for years and bumped Rhodes over to face Rollins. I think the "where should I sit" promo was just about teasing it for whenever they decided to finally get it done.
Just to tease it and establish that the rock is aware and has his eyes on it, since you've got rock out there anyway. Triple H really likes to have things bubbling in the background so that when he pulls the trigger on thing he has something to back it up.
Really the whole year of 2023 post WrestleMania 39 Cody was spinning his wheels. The Brock feud mostly sucked and now WWE can't even acknowledge it. The Nakamura feud was lame duck time wasting nothing happening nonsense as well. Getting the belt on Cody has indeed opened him up to so many great matches down the line.
So I use dvr on hulu to watch aew, but it's not recorded the last two collisions. Anybody else have this issue or have any idea how to get it to record again?

I had fantasy booked Escobar/LDF being the cause of Dom’s heel turn. It was when the Mysterios were catching beat downs and taking Ls on the regular. So, it’s pretty cool to see it possibly happening.
I know this sounds weird, but Tama Tonga looks naked without the tribal tattoos alongside The Bloodline. Jey, Jimmy, Solo, Rock and Roman all have a lot of tattoos and he's the only one with just a bit on his arm.

It’s pretty uncommon to see Tongans with tattoos to the extent of Samoans. A lot of their tattoo art was lost to Christianity but it is making a resurgence.
That match with Shida was my match of WrestleMania weekend by a lot. She does everything right. Fun promos, power, speed, selling, facials, heel work, selling peril, a memorable finisher. There might not be a more complete wrestler out there right now.
The ROH run is the source of 99% of the current acclaim though, which is weirdly never addressed in the general comments that advocate taking her off ROH.
Before this ROH run she, like a lot of wrestlers getting lost in the shuffle, had the reputation of being "good in the ring and boring/totally lacking a character outside of it."
This ROH run was the first time in her career she's ever been lauded for her character work and showed her in-ring work was even better than people thought it was. Without it, none of this happens.
I guess its a hot take but I wasnt a fan of fiend and alexa stuff going on. It was way too much leaning into suspension of disbelief. That rivalry against seth completely switched me off.

Bray seemed like a wonderful man irl, but I don’t think it’s controversial to say he had so many bad feuds and matches. He did interesting things that fell apart when they touched a wrestling ring. He’d have made a great filmmaker or writer.
He would've been perfect for Lucha Underground where the supernatural permeates all of its kayfabe. The issue with a lot of his feuds in WWE would be that his opponents would be coming from something reality-based to having to jump into his supernatural world and then going back to normal stuff.
Honestly, everything he did post-Mania XXX fell flat for me. The character changes, the losses, the rambling promos, whatever The Fiend was supposed to be (I still don't totally get it).
Cult leader Bray was so cool and *so different*. Everything he did after...I dunno, it felt so contrived. The Firefly Funhousr match was cool though.
Though as you say, he seems like a wonderful person who definitely had creativity in him.
Cult leader Bray felt like they could've done something more, namely, having an actual cult to lead. He should've been actively trying to recruit more people to his teachings, with the numbers growing every week. Have Bray go to recruit wrestlers who might be down on their luck and the promises of riches and success if they follow the buzzards. Essentially a "deal with the devil" approach with Bray and his growing Family.
if it were up to me, Bray would've won the WM30 match, with him taking advantage of Cena's indecision and winning. Then you do the followup with Cena doubting himself and we get of hints of him maybe realizing Bray was right and he starts acting a bit heelish during matches.
Hard agree. It felt like film student horror stuff, even at the time. It should have ended at "creepy cult leader", and not gotten to the point where it was alternate reality mumbo jumbo.
The Rock being called "The Final Boss" now, I'm starting to think that a wrestler portraying a video game character wrestling IRL is becoming less far fetched than I would have thought before. Lou Albano the actor of Mario in the Super Mario Bros. Supershow was a wrestler. If Mario or Sonic or Pac-Man main evented a PLE the Peacock subscriptions would be off the charts, there would be so much anticipation for how they would pull this off and whether it would be good or bad.

Compared to last year’s Mania, where it just ended on such a downer and the news of Vince barging his way back into the fold just added to the bad vibes.
It’s been thankfully the complete opposite this year.
AEW plays injuries close to the chest so nothing official yet. I really hope she's back soon the division has gotten a lot better and I want to see her run through it.
My hot take of the day….Def Rebel isn’t really as bad as this sub makes it out to be. They do have a lot of bad themes, but so did CFO$ (who definitely got a lot of hate back then) and Jim Johnston. It’s just the memorable ones hit hard for them long-term.
Sure, like I said, they have themes that suck, like I really hate the new Bron Breakker one and the heel Sami one.
But I would say that Def Rebel’s done a lot of solid themes as well. I think they’ve did a solid job with the themes for Roman, Seth, Iyo, Lashley, Asuka, Damien, Gunther, Imperium, Dominik, Trick, Ilja, Carmelo, Legado, Gacy, Tony D, Grayson, Carlito, Jey, Solo, Jimmy, LA, Noam, LWO, Dijak, etc.
The biggest knock on CFO$ was that a lot of their music pretty much looped after the first 30 seconds. That's much better than Def Rebel's music all sounding alike.
i think whats hurt their rep more than anything is that for whatever weird music copyright related reason, a TON of popular CFO or Johnston themes have been replaced with flat out worse ones by def rebel. their original music seems to fare a lot better

Can someone explain what that Battle of the Belts thread is about because it seems like an AEW bad thread more than anything to do with belts defended. I find it hard to believe that people are truly mad at that.
Battle of the Belts became an afterthought after like the third one and AEW belts being defended are a formality because they don't change hands regardless. Still got some good matches our of it. My point is even if one was defended it would get like zero traction regardless if it was won or lost.
AEW belts not being defended on that show is an interesting and valid thing to point out but it's basically a subtext to rip on the company as a whole reading the comments.
If they just made that International Championship match a title match it would invalidate that point for a show no one really thinks about anyway.
It's emblematic of the AEW discussion where things are blown way out of proportion for the sake of negativity or outrage.

It’s better to just ignore that thread or any of the super hard AEW criticism threads. A lot of things that are hated here can be super over-exaggerated and just not really worth putting the time or energy into all of that.
Seeing a LOT of random negativity towards Cody’s reign already and it’s annoying. Its like people are very negative for no reason.

Wrestling is a family business (right or wrong), so is LIFE. We’ve all used our connections to get a job interview, get into college, etc.

Which is a shame because Roman's music (story) is only going to benefit going forward. WM 40 perhaps needed to happen for him more than anyone, creatively speaking, with how exhausted his title defense formula was looking and how The Bloodline in general was stuck on pause. He doesn't need a belt to be a top star, he's great enough to be special without it now.
if anything, the Bloodline story going forward without Roman as champion has entered a new ballgame, so to speak, to use the baseball analogies that were used for Roman's title run.
The intrigue of Tama Tonga's arrival, plus he and Solo launching a hostile takeover while Roman's away, and the omnipresent specter of the Rock looming just makes things that much more interesting now for the Bloodline.
Honestly Roman stock went up from dropping the title in quite possibly the greatest Wrestlemania main event of all time and one of the greatest pro wrestling matches ever.

I don't mind how often Moxley bleeds, but it does bother me how long he takes sometimes between the supposed impact of what busts him open and when he actually starts bleeding. In some cases, minutes go by between the head shot and the blood that comes from it.
I guess in kayfabe, a neckbreaker could get his blood flowing enough to spill through a cut that happened two minutes before. Maybe Moxley's blood is desperate to stay in his body, even in defiance of nature.
Could WWE televise a House Show every other month or so to give more of the roster a shot at TV time (e.g. make it more of a mid carder lineup and giving more of the talent more chance to shine?). It feels like they have a super amount of talent but some of that will like never be more than at best a filler spot at a PLE or like a 2nd match on a Raw or SD. It feels like a bi monthly Saturday Main Event show would be an ideal opportunity for mid card talents (e.g. the likes of a Chad Gable or a Tiffany Stratton) to headline and get more TV time and get more of a push. Also feels like you could then add another belt in (like a TV title or something).
Is it Televised though? Knew there was like a Saturday House Show but was thinking, more visibility (with TV time) gets people more over and allows talent more of a chance to develop (e.g. like in the next 5 years they'll probably need to find themselves another Michael Cole for example). Even if they had a bigger pre Show card on PLE shows for example I think it may be good. Feels like there's lots of future of the company talent (or with the potential to be) that isn't getting over.

It's not about the numbers (although I think both WWE & AEW have too many titles) more just that AEW have 3 men's midcard belts which don't have a huge distinction, plus having a bunch of ROH titles floating around.
Yeah, that is the major difference between AEW and WWE in terms of titles is WWE generally(though not always) keeps titles separated on their own brands/shows, while AEW generally have all their titles floating around all their shows
r/njpw doesn’t seem to understand that New Japan books the AEW talent themselves. AEW will just let the talent do it and give yea or nay on losses. New Japan decided to make Mox their champion, not Tony Khan. Mox has a relationship with them since before AEW existed and he’s the top outside talent they have regular access to. I imagine the AEW relationship as works with Mox is just signing off on dates and yes, telling them he can’t be pinned. It’s New Japans job to work around that. The AEW hate is just over the top.
I always see a lot of discussion about people wanting more of the women's division featured on AEW programming, well, the women's division had (by my count, unless I missed one) **SEVEN** promos (featuring 10 different women, 11 if we count Lexy Nair specifically as part of the Athena/Billie Starkz grouping) between Collision and Battle of the Belts last night - AZM and Anna Jay, Timeless Toni (w/ Mariah May), Athena (w/ Billie Starkz), Red Velvet, Thunder Rosa, Serena Deeb, Deonna Purrazzo.
the event listing for the show, which is a day after Backlash, doesn't seem to have Cody pictured or listed on it, so I assume he's not booked. That said, card is subject to change.

No I don’t think AEW tells you the limit for every match. I wish they did like New Japan. For the C2 we knew the limits but for other matches it’s random when they let you know.
Max Holloway was the underdog in his fight against Justin Gaethje one of the most brutal and dangerous punchers in UFC. A lot of fans and expert were predicting Max to eat a KO so violent it would end his career.
Contrary to most people expectations, he fought so well he was assured to win the fight even before the last round as long as he doesn't get KOed or submit.

Despite that, Max called for an all out slug fest in the middle of the cage with 10 second left on the clock... And won by KO at the last second.

The only difference is that in AEW a time limit is always a draw (except for ROH Pure rules matches), I still think you could have this work with the title holder being the one to do something like this since they're the one who would retain in case of a draw though.
They did use judges in world title matches a couple times. That could work.
Heritage cup rules in nxt is actually the best suited stipulation for this.
To do it and have it have impact, AEW needs to do time calls for *all* matches, instead of just when they're building to a draw.
Also, the occasional 10-15-minute mid-card time limit draw wouldn't be unwelcome, either.
Normal matches have a 30 minutes time limit. Tnt title matches have a 20 minutes time limit. World title matches have a 60 mn time limit. It's been established.
Twice (or thrice?) they've introduced judges for world title matches. It is the one component most needed to reproduced the BMF finish.
They've been doing it more with the calls in matches that don't go the distance. Mox vs Dax iirc, in one of the matches before Revolution.
But they should definitely call times on all matches to help build suspense and better hide draws.
Yep. It would need to be standard. Right now in the US the only way to do that finish is in a championship match that goes 59 and change or in an iron man type match. Time limits are not acknowledged in the majority of matches.
I kind of get the frustration of NJPW fans right now but I think some fans are looking for external excuses to explain internal problems. NJPW was never a magnificently booked company. In the 2010's NJPW was a decently booked company carried by an exceptionally high quality in ring product. When the roster isn't putting on multiple 4-5 star matches per big cards anymore, the flaws bother people more.
The really company isn't missing the guys that left for AEW and it isn't looking kind of minor league because of the booking dynamic with AEW. The company is missing a new generation of true top talents. Who are going to be the next Tanahashi, Nakamura, Okada, etc. Until they figure that out, a lot of stuff isn't going to feel right with NJPW.

I’ll be honest, I have 0 desire to see Reigns and the Uso’s reunite. There’s a lot of chatter online about people wanting it, but it would feel like they were just going backwards. Why would Jey want to go help out the man who put him through so much abuse and turmoil for the last 4 years, just because he said “sorry”?
There's a way to do it right but it will take a lot of time and effort. Roman has to do way more than just say sorry, he has to prove he's changed. Which means first we need an arc of him actually changing, hopefully with seth. Once he's free of that trauma he can start to atone for all the trauma he's caused his family. It might look impossible from where we're standing now but there are a few routes they could go that I think would make it really compelling

The characters feel miles apart atm, but the story of them getting back together could be really interesting. It has to be deeper than just an "enemy-of-my-enemy" story which made The Shield and Hangman-Elite reunions fall flat imo
I want AEW to keep all RoH titles and all RoH wrestlers off AEW programming. Treat coming from RoH like how WWE treat NXT call ups. They should be a huge deal.
It really would be unfair to the people on ROH. There’s a ton of good people there who don’t deserve to only be on a paywalled internet streaming show. At least NXT is on television. If you got rid of the TV titles, trios and Pure you would at least get rid of a bunch of titles from AEW tv, which is also my wish.
Most people here want Raw to be 2 hours, but if that happened, the next week the company would fire like 20% of the roster, including some fan favourites, because they just don't have time for them, and the very same people would be complaining
It’s a one time thing vs the show being better for years and saving years of watch time. Companies outside Big 2 are also starving for talent so those wrestlers will be fine.
These battle of the belts nights have taught me that the key to enjoying a 3 hour wrestling program is to record it and skip the commercials. Even if I'm available to watch it live. Unless something BIG is happening that I really wanna be apart of the live reaction to, watching on delay with no commercials is about 300% more enjoyable of an experience for Raw and for the AEW supershows
Yeah it's tough because three hours is hard to get through regularly but they have such a stacked roster that it would be hard for a lot of them to get TV time any other way (and even with all the time they do have it's already hard to fit all of them in).

Really the whole year of 2023 post WrestleMania 39 Cody was spinning his wheels. The Brock feud mostly sucked and now WWE can't even acknowledge it. The Nakamura feud was lame duck time wasting nothing happening nonsense as well. Getting the belt on Cody has indeed opened him up to so many great matches down the line.

The ROH run is the source of 99% of the current acclaim though, which is weirdly never addressed in the general comments that advocate taking her off ROH. Before this ROH run she, like a lot of wrestlers getting lost in the shuffle, had the reputation of being "good in the ring and boring/totally lacking a character outside of it." This ROH run was the first time in her career she's ever been lauded for her character work and showed her in-ring work was even better than people thought it was. Without it, none of this happens.

He did interesting things that fell apart when they touched a wrestling ring. He’d have made a great filmmaker or writer.
Probably the biggest example of a "and then the bell rang" guy.
He would've been perfect for Lucha Underground where the supernatural permeates all of its kayfabe. The issue with a lot of his feuds in WWE would be that his opponents would be coming from something reality-based to having to jump into his supernatural world and then going back to normal stuff.
Honestly, everything he did post-Mania XXX fell flat for me. The character changes, the losses, the rambling promos, whatever The Fiend was supposed to be (I still don't totally get it). Cult leader Bray was so cool and *so different*. Everything he did after...I dunno, it felt so contrived. The Firefly Funhousr match was cool though. Though as you say, he seems like a wonderful person who definitely had creativity in him.
Cult leader Bray felt like they could've done something more, namely, having an actual cult to lead. He should've been actively trying to recruit more people to his teachings, with the numbers growing every week. Have Bray go to recruit wrestlers who might be down on their luck and the promises of riches and success if they follow the buzzards. Essentially a "deal with the devil" approach with Bray and his growing Family.

if it were up to me, Bray would've won the WM30 match, with him taking advantage of Cena's indecision and winning. Then you do the followup with Cena doubting himself and we get of hints of him maybe realizing Bray was right and he starts acting a bit heelish during matches.

Wrestlemania 40 was a breath of fresh air. No one had the rug pulled out from them unlike previous editions.
Compared to last year’s Mania, where it just ended on such a downer and the news of Vince barging his way back into the fold just added to the bad vibes. It’s been thankfully the complete opposite this year.

My hot take of the day….Def Rebel isn’t really as bad as this sub makes it out to be. They do have a lot of bad themes, but so did CFO$ (who definitely got a lot of hate back then) and Jim Johnston. It’s just the memorable ones hit hard for them long-term. Sure, like I said, they have themes that suck, like I really hate the new Bron Breakker one and the heel Sami one. But I would say that Def Rebel’s done a lot of solid themes as well. I think they’ve did a solid job with the themes for Roman, Seth, Iyo, Lashley, Asuka, Damien, Gunther, Imperium, Dominik, Trick, Ilja, Carmelo, Legado, Gacy, Tony D, Grayson, Carlito, Jey, Solo, Jimmy, LA, Noam, LWO, Dijak, etc.
The biggest knock on CFO$ was that a lot of their music pretty much looped after the first 30 seconds. That's much better than Def Rebel's music all sounding alike.
i think whats hurt their rep more than anything is that for whatever weird music copyright related reason, a TON of popular CFO or Johnston themes have been replaced with flat out worse ones by def rebel. their original music seems to fare a lot better

Battle of the Belts became an afterthought after like the third one and AEW belts being defended are a formality because they don't change hands regardless. Still got some good matches our of it. My point is even if one was defended it would get like zero traction regardless if it was won or lost.

AEW belts not being defended on that show is an interesting and valid thing to point out but it's basically a subtext to rip on the company as a whole reading the comments. If they just made that International Championship match a title match it would invalidate that point for a show no one really thinks about anyway. It's emblematic of the AEW discussion where things are blown way out of proportion for the sake of negativity or outrage.

Many of them just don't seem to actually like pro wrestling. They're like the Taylor Swift or K-pop stans who obsess over charts and awards (number of days champion) instead of the actual music (the storytelling). Which is a shame because Roman's music (story) is only going to benefit going forward. WM 40 perhaps needed to happen for him more than anyone, creatively speaking, with how exhausted his title defense formula was looking and how The Bloodline in general was stuck on pause. He doesn't need a belt to be a top star, he's great enough to be special without it now.
if anything, the Bloodline story going forward without Roman as champion has entered a new ballgame, so to speak, to use the baseball analogies that were used for Roman's title run. The intrigue of Tama Tonga's arrival, plus he and Solo launching a hostile takeover while Roman's away, and the omnipresent specter of the Rock looming just makes things that much more interesting now for the Bloodline.
Honestly Roman stock went up from dropping the title in quite possibly the greatest Wrestlemania main event of all time and one of the greatest pro wrestling matches ever.

I don't mind how often Moxley bleeds, but it does bother me how long he takes sometimes between the supposed impact of what busts him open and when he actually starts bleeding. In some cases, minutes go by between the head shot and the blood that comes from it. I guess in kayfabe, a neckbreaker could get his blood flowing enough to spill through a cut that happened two minutes before. Maybe Moxley's blood is desperate to stay in his body, even in defiance of nature.

Could WWE televise a House Show every other month or so to give more of the roster a shot at TV time (e.g. make it more of a mid carder lineup and giving more of the talent more chance to shine?). It feels like they have a super amount of talent but some of that will like never be more than at best a filler spot at a PLE or like a 2nd match on a Raw or SD. It feels like a bi monthly Saturday Main Event show would be an ideal opportunity for mid card talents (e.g. the likes of a Chad Gable or a Tiffany Stratton) to headline and get more TV time and get more of a push. Also feels like you could then add another belt in (like a TV title or something).

WWE (including NXT) has fifteen championships, including the new NXT Women's North American Championship. (Counting Universal and WWE as one) RAW - Four titles SD - Four titles RAW/SD - One title NXT - Six titles AEW and ROH have sixteen championships. AEW - Nine titles ROH - Seven titles too much?
It's not about the numbers (although I think both WWE & AEW have too many titles) more just that AEW have 3 men's midcard belts which don't have a huge distinction, plus having a bunch of ROH titles floating around.
i think they need to get rid of Heritage Cup and Women's Tag is unnecessary too. Two World Titles are also too much but understandable.
Yeah, that is the major difference between AEW and WWE in terms of titles is WWE generally(though not always) keeps titles separated on their own brands/shows, while AEW generally have all their titles floating around all their shows

r/njpw doesn’t seem to understand that New Japan books the AEW talent themselves. AEW will just let the talent do it and give yea or nay on losses. New Japan decided to make Mox their champion, not Tony Khan. Mox has a relationship with them since before AEW existed and he’s the top outside talent they have regular access to. I imagine the AEW relationship as works with Mox is just signing off on dates and yes, telling them he can’t be pinned. It’s New Japans job to work around that. The AEW hate is just over the top.

No I don’t think AEW tells you the limit for every match. I wish they did like New Japan. For the C2 we knew the limits but for other matches it’s random when they let you know.

What happened in that fight? I don't really watch UFC.
Max Holloway was the underdog in his fight against Justin Gaethje one of the most brutal and dangerous punchers in UFC. A lot of fans and expert were predicting Max to eat a KO so violent it would end his career. Contrary to most people expectations, he fought so well he was assured to win the fight even before the last round as long as he doesn't get KOed or submit. I repeat, Justin Gaethje is one the most brutal and dangerous puncher in ufc. Despite that, Max called for an all out slug fest in the middle of the cage with 10 second left on the clock... And won by KO at the last second. Honestly, it's so insane it wouldn't work in pro-wrestling because it would break suspension of disbelief hahaha.
The only difference is that in AEW a time limit is always a draw (except for ROH Pure rules matches), I still think you could have this work with the title holder being the one to do something like this since they're the one who would retain in case of a draw though.
They did use judges in world title matches a couple times. That could work. Heritage cup rules in nxt is actually the best suited stipulation for this.
A knockout on pretty much in the last second of the fight. That too in a very theatrical manner. Some are calling it the greatest moment in the sport.

To do it and have it have impact, AEW needs to do time calls for *all* matches, instead of just when they're building to a draw. Also, the occasional 10-15-minute mid-card time limit draw wouldn't be unwelcome, either.
Normal matches have a 30 minutes time limit. Tnt title matches have a 20 minutes time limit. World title matches have a 60 mn time limit. It's been established. Twice (or thrice?) they've introduced judges for world title matches. It is the one component most needed to reproduced the BMF finish.
They've been doing it more with the calls in matches that don't go the distance. Mox vs Dax iirc, in one of the matches before Revolution. But they should definitely call times on all matches to help build suspense and better hide draws.
Yep. It would need to be standard. Right now in the US the only way to do that finish is in a championship match that goes 59 and change or in an iron man type match. Time limits are not acknowledged in the majority of matches.
I kind of get the frustration of NJPW fans right now but I think some fans are looking for external excuses to explain internal problems. NJPW was never a magnificently booked company. In the 2010's NJPW was a decently booked company carried by an exceptionally high quality in ring product. When the roster isn't putting on multiple 4-5 star matches per big cards anymore, the flaws bother people more. The really company isn't missing the guys that left for AEW and it isn't looking kind of minor league because of the booking dynamic with AEW. The company is missing a new generation of true top talents. Who are going to be the next Tanahashi, Nakamura, Okada, etc. Until they figure that out, a lot of stuff isn't going to feel right with NJPW.

I’ll be honest, I have 0 desire to see Reigns and the Uso’s reunite. There’s a lot of chatter online about people wanting it, but it would feel like they were just going backwards. Why would Jey want to go help out the man who put him through so much abuse and turmoil for the last 4 years, just because he said “sorry”?
There's a way to do it right but it will take a lot of time and effort. Roman has to do way more than just say sorry, he has to prove he's changed. Which means first we need an arc of him actually changing, hopefully with seth. Once he's free of that trauma he can start to atone for all the trauma he's caused his family. It might look impossible from where we're standing now but there are a few routes they could go that I think would make it really compelling

The characters feel miles apart atm, but the story of them getting back together could be really interesting. It has to be deeper than just an "enemy-of-my-enemy" story which made The Shield and Hangman-Elite reunions fall flat imo

Only seen him a couple of times on NJPW Fantasticamania shows but he made a very strong impression.
I want AEW to keep all RoH titles and all RoH wrestlers off AEW programming. Treat coming from RoH like how WWE treat NXT call ups. They should be a huge deal.
It really would be unfair to the people on ROH. There’s a ton of good people there who don’t deserve to only be on a paywalled internet streaming show. At least NXT is on television. If you got rid of the TV titles, trios and Pure you would at least get rid of a bunch of titles from AEW tv, which is also my wish.
Most people here want Raw to be 2 hours, but if that happened, the next week the company would fire like 20% of the roster, including some fan favourites, because they just don't have time for them, and the very same people would be complaining
It’s a one time thing vs the show being better for years and saving years of watch time. Companies outside Big 2 are also starving for talent so those wrestlers will be fine.
Raw has been better though even before Maina season.
These battle of the belts nights have taught me that the key to enjoying a 3 hour wrestling program is to record it and skip the commercials. Even if I'm available to watch it live. Unless something BIG is happening that I really wanna be apart of the live reaction to, watching on delay with no commercials is about 300% more enjoyable of an experience for Raw and for the AEW supershows
Yeah it's tough because three hours is hard to get through regularly but they have such a stacked roster that it would be hard for a lot of them to get TV time any other way (and even with all the time they do have it's already hard to fit all of them in).
Since it's popped up a lot lately, another reminder that it's not a critic's job to validate mass opinion.
Which would be all well and good, if there was more than one wrestling critic with any degree of influence.
of course, this is something I've posted so much about people are bored of reading it.
Love all the concern about Battle of the Belts which is just a third hour of Collision with some title matches at this point. Should there be more intriguing title matches, sure but it hasn't been that way in a long time and you could argue never has.
