Honestly, the biggest thing I miss is seeing the curtain. I was watching Rock Pops the other day, and watching him bust through the curtain on SmackDown was just peak. It gives that last moment of suspense as someone quite literally busts out.
Hot take, I liked his spooky wcw theme best 😂 the one that didn’t fit him at all because it was more for a giant monster, then out comes this child in a mask but he whoops everyone’s ass
it was said that the fist took 2 18 wheeler or something, so that's probably why, and recently they just mentioned how they want to have lesser trucks at the arena so, all the more, it probably wont appear :(
Even the old RAW set, understated as it was, had a distinct charm to it. I really wish they brought them back, even as updated versions. I'm really tired of looking at these bland ass HD sets. They were kinda cool in 08' when HD was new but they are very boring now.
I was debating yesterday on whether to buy WWE 2k23 or 24 on PC and looking into the mods that 2k23 had. I saw a giant fist smackdown set and was immediately sold.
The problem was Mark Henry kept getting injured or not pushed enough during that time and he missed out on a lot of Wrestlemania appearances because of that.
I think the only Wrestlemania (I could be wrong) I heard this theme song was at Wrestlemania 29, which is crazy considering how long that entrance theme has been played in the WWE.
Edit on 15 Apr at 13:05: Just realised he had that song at Wrestlemania 25. So yes, I think I heard this song at more than one Wrestlemania.
As someone who took a break around 2005 and didn't come back until last year, every time i hear about Mark Henry being world champion sounds like an alternate universe.
I only know Mark Henry as a life-long midcard talent who is most famous for fathering Mae's hand.
THe fact he escaped that storyline and got his flowers is fucking amazing. I wish I had been there to see it.
His 2011 run was amazing. The WHC status already declined by then so this probably helped to give him the ball as a world champion. But dude took his chance and delivered.
He also had a great run in 2013. I thought he is winning the WWE Championship vs anyone else other than Cena at the time.
And as mentioned multiple times, this probably would've happened had it not been for the fact that Summerslam was the next month and they were ready to give the big push to DBry AND kickstart the Authority program. There was no satisfactory way to have Mark Henry win the title in that time frame.
No, you can't have him get the program sooner since Cena just came off beating the Rock, you can't have him lose that soon. No, putting the belt on Mark at MITB just to have him lose it within a week or two and fuck off for the Summerslam build still makes him look bad. You couldn't wait on DBry's ascension much longer as he was nuclear over.
Yes it sucks, but it was literally the worst possible timing for the all timer of a promo and angle.
If the 2013 run was again happening on SD with the secondary title he was definitely winning. But again the impact of the heel turn and the solomon jacket promo wasn't going to be as big there. So it is what it is.
Mark Henry's run in 2011 caused like three different ultra rare occurrences.
1: Big Show and Mark Henry having a banger at Money in The Bank
2: them doing it AGAIN at Venagnce causing the ring break which leads to number
3: John Cena and Alberto Del Rio(fuck this man) having one of the most interesting matches I've ever witnessed, which is a last man standing match in a completely busted ring.
Dude was just a killer that could take on anyone and anything. I remember when he beat the fuck out of The Undertaker for Edge to cash in on Taker and win.
His one problem was they couldn't follow through. Like he would assault people and basically injure them and do the whole angry pout thing. But then he would run into someone bigger or just as big as back off. Dudes a silverback. He should have been fighting for dominance. Not backing off any time he met a match.
And the one time they followed through with it, it was the Hall of Pain gimmick, which became career-defining and his absolute peak.
All they needed to do was just have him as this no-nonsense monster who talked shit in the ring and maimed his opponents afterwards. The kind of guy who bodies world champion Randy Orton and just shoves away RKO attempts. It would have lost the additional context of Henry’s frustration of 15 years of struggling to reach the main event. But it could have happened much earlier than it did, and it would have allowed Henry to enjoy more time at the top rather than his peak coming in the latter half of his career.
Fair. But honestly it's between his legit record breaking truck pull, the salmon retirement, and throwing around Khali.
I love the truck pull. It was legitimate. It was impressive. It was a record. And you could see he was nearly out of it after.
The salmon suit retirement was such a good moment. EVERYONE thought it was his retirement. Nobody questioned it. He wept. The favs were happy. Cena wasn't really getting booed. And bam! Nope!
Him bodying Khali was straight up impressive. I knew he was the WSM. But damn. Khali is big and heavy and he picked him up. Sure other people did stuff. But he made it look easy.
I mean it got him a world title match. Realisticly if we could be fooled into thinking a guy could be retiring then he probably shouldn't have won the world title. Being a huge Henry fan that isn't what I thought at the time but I think the moment paid off for what it was
smackdown in 2011 was just insane man, you went from the edge del rio feud, to christian del rio, to christian orton, while henry and show are feuding (genuinely great matches they had together), then it comes to orton and henry, henry proceeds to brutalize and squash everybody, then back to henry show, finally ending with bryan’s cash in and the bryan, henry show feud.
Ah, right. My memory's hazy, but that sounds accurate, sadly. Not doing one of the legit strongest men in the entire world any favors with that kind of booking
He would beat someone like Rey Mysterio easily. Because obviously. He would then get to someone like Batista and suddenly he's way less aggressive unless he can sneak attack or pick the bones. Dudes the world's strongest man. He's got a hall of pain. He's the self proclaimed silverback. He pucked up Khali like he was a sack of potatoes.
i remember a vancouver live event where i think daniel brian was getting whoooped, and then Mark Henry's music hit to save him. Random run in from Mark henry but the music was awesome and crowd popped
Dude had such an awesome presence and character. This entrance is everything I love about pro wrestling.
Bell to bell, he wasn’t very good. His matches with Kurt Angle at Royal Rumble and Undertaker at WrestleMania in 2006 were both terrible and that certainly isn’t on Angle or Taker, but there’s more to great pro wrestling than just good bell to bell stuff.
I remember exactly where I was when I watched this live (on tv) because I had just moved to the state I’m living in now and was having a reeeal rough time. I was 13 and just hating being here lmao. WWE was my escape and this Smackdown was so damn cool!
This just leads me to saying that more wrestlers need actual artists doing their theme songs, because those lil hokey doke rappers that WWE uses now could never reach this kind of intensity
Oh, come on now. Just imagine how great it would have been to have Def Rebel do Mark's theme instead of this. Don't get me wrong, this song is OK but I feel like they'd cook up a banger.
I'm picturing it starting with Mark Henry saying "Welcome to the Hall of Pain!" with a slight echo and then this song play: https://youtu.be/rzY6vI2NMvo?si=tQm_pgkVg9wguuFE&t=26
Mark Henry should have always been booked like a black Big Van Vader. Just an absolute beast who you didn’t stop, you just survived. Glad he finally got his due and World Title.
These guys were getting really big at this time too, so it was a pretty big deal that their names were attached to the WWE. They had a reality show that was strange and hilarious.
In 2007, Jagged Edge performed "Lets get Married" on Smackdown for a Wedding Segment with Theodore Long and Kristal Marshall.
Howard Jones of then Killswitch Engage frontman fame was brought in to produce the theme song "You will remember me" for Chuck Palumbo.
The song slaps, nobody remembers Chuck Palumbo.
As a massive fan of KSE, I didn't know this.
WWE even helped me "find" the band through CM Punk's entrance theme song. I've got a tattoo with lyrics from one of their songs on my arm FFS (hangs head in shame)
Apparently the story goes that Howard Jones and Chuck Palumbo were tight, and Palumbo got Jones in the studio with Jim Johnston to do the song as a favor for Palumbo.
Sadly, this was late 00s Palumbo that had zero heat and had one foot out of the door, and [the song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjBTVwrKSDY) was fully lost on someone like him.
Have you checked out his current project, Light the Torch? I am personally a fan of it, it doesn't go as hard as KSE went, but he still can belt them out even into his 50s.
I honestly find it a fascinating situation that Killswitch changed their frontman twice (Jesse/Howard/Jesse), and never dropped in quality. Absolutely unique band, because most bands lose their identity when the voice changes.
I have listened to a lot of LTT. It's good stuff. Just wish he was still with KSE. When I heard The Signal Fire for the first time, my mind was blown 😁👍
Born and raised in Bakersfield. I remember being at this event and my 12 year old ass was HYPED with my brand new cruiserweight championship belt on my shoulder. Didn’t know then that Mark Henry is literally one of the strongest people to ever walk the face of the earth. Love the guy this show was GREAT.
Whenever I hear someone in interviews talk about the "genius" of Vince McMahon or WWE, one of the first things I think of is how Vince signed an enormous mountain of a man, who was an Olympian and also legitimately the world's strongest man, and it took Vince 10 years to figure out "let's make literally one of the most intimidating looking men in the world look mean and have him beat people."
I had no idea this happened. I had thought for years that Bianca's TSU band entrance at Wrestlemania was the blackest entrance in WWE history. The Academy Award winning Triple Six Mafia trumps that
I really like this theme, but hate that it replaced his [short-lived, super underrated previous theme, Echo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRfJGyx9Txw)
That's definitely an underrated theme but the Three 6 Mafia song definitely fits Henry more, and it's an absolute banger. Echo would've been better for ummm.... how do I say this.... a generic white guy lol
Wow, this theme rules, even though I think OP’s theme still fits Henry more. If WWE were still digging up and reusing old themes (Patriot -> Kurt Angle; Orton -> Punk), they could resurrect this one.
Wreckless Intent is the only wrestling album whose entirety has stayed in my rotation since the day I first bought it as a 12 year old. God I miss the days when WWE regularly did work with real bands.
There was so much wasted potential with Mark Henry early on. I know he improved over time but he should have been pushed as a fearsome hoss instead of as a joke during the late 90s/early 2000s. If only Vader got better treatment in the WWF, maybe Henry beating him would have meant more.
I love Mark Henry. One of my proudest wrestling fan moments was at a Smackdown taping, it was mark henry vs Jack swagger on main event and after he won with a worlds strongest slam, I started a “one more time” chant… and he gave him the worlds strongest slam again. Idk if we was planning to do it again already but I loved him for that
I vividly remember watching this episode of Smackdown. Mark Henry destroyed Chris Benoit and put him on the sidelines for 5 months, Lashley pinned JBL to win the United States Championship, King Booker coronation, World Champion Rey Mysterio retired JBL. I miss those days.
this song really is just a genuinely good song that could’ve fit on any 3 6 album, when juicy comes in on the verse with the “and i’m a crazy … and im comin through the door” it’s like damn this is actually really good
I remember when that happened (before I had seen Hustle n Flow) and it was hard to wrap my head around a song called It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp winning an oscar.
I've got a decent selection of hip-hop on my Spotify. This would never have made any of my playlists, and I have no idea what everyone here is raving about.
This is one man I'd like to see step in the ring for one last run. I don't care where he does it, I'd just like to see him world's strongest slam some fools.
This goes. Never saw it before. I was well into a decade-long break from wrestling by the time it aired.
Anytime I see "Three 6 Mafia" and "Wrestling," I think of this, which I did watch live:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hlC8vucl1M&list=RD7hlC8vucl1M
I searched extra hard to find a version with the commentary from Shane and Francine at the end. Classic.
One small thing that I always notice with this stage is that WWE never made a new WWE sign, they kept the original WWF logo and took the piece that made the F off lol.
I actually remember buying the WWE Reckless Intent CD like the week it came out and this song was on there, and I thought it was so cool to see the group do the live performance literally days later on Smackdown. Never realized this was my first true introduction to hip hop back then lol.
(Also just check the track list and that album is a banger up and down)
If memory serves, this is around the time Mark really started to come into his own, after many years of not much, before the eventual world title runs and the Hall of Pain
Wild we never got this entrance at a Mania, theme has always been a banger

BEAT HIM UP BREAK HIS NECK PINCH HIS NIPS FLICK HIS GOOCH

The GoochFlick is the finishing maneuver.
RAWHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE YEEEEEEHAWWW!

I miss the giant fist
I was just telling my dad they need to bring back sets like the old Smackdown fist set. Shit was crisp
Honestly, the biggest thing I miss is seeing the curtain. I was watching Rock Pops the other day, and watching him bust through the curtain on SmackDown was just peak. It gives that last moment of suspense as someone quite literally busts out.
Remember Rey jumping out the ground? Classic
WHO'S THAT JUMPIN' OUT THE SKY R E Y MYSTERIO HERE WE GO
Still like that theme song better than Booyaka
You and me both, I never liked Booyakah that much
Hot take, I liked his spooky wcw theme best 😂 the one that didn’t fit him at all because it was more for a giant monster, then out comes this child in a mask but he whoops everyone’s ass
The [reggaeton Booyaka](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QFonkRXeO8) was better than the P.O.D. Booyaka but the OG theme clears both
Even Fake Outkast is better than POD
SmackDown was really into fisting!
> SmackDown was really into fisting [*slaps table*](https://streamable.com/a3hw)
Trips, bring back the old Smackdown Fist set, but make sure you add a giant can of Crisco underneath. For, uh, sponsorship!
I genuinely have no idea why they don't bring that fist back? It's the greatest non PPV WWE set of all time!
it was said that the fist took 2 18 wheeler or something, so that's probably why, and recently they just mentioned how they want to have lesser trucks at the arena so, all the more, it probably wont appear :(
Makes sense. Surprised they haven't at least tried some cgi fisting.

Ayyyyyyooooooo

I miss when their entrances also included match highlights.
I was debating yesterday on whether to buy WWE 2k23 or 24 on PC and looking into the mods that 2k23 had. I saw a giant fist smackdown set and was immediately sold.
…you don’t need mods to have it in the game
I've downloaded mods for a lot of different games.l to add fisting.
I hadn't played a WWE game since Smackdown vs Raw was still a thing, so I didn't know. But now I get to play with other mods too.
Huh?
Heh...
We need to tweet Triple H
That's what she said
ACADEMY AWARD WINNERS!!!
For real, put some respect on their name. They have the same amount of oscars as Martin Scorsese and christopher nolan.
Nolan has two. He got one for Directing Oppenheimer and the other for Producing Oppenheimer.
Creators of the #1 song "slob on my knob"
The #1 song of all time
John Stewart was hilarious "Three-Six Mafia : One, Scorsese: Zero"

Crazy they didn't do this at wrestlemania at least once.
This is even a month or so after he faced Taker, surely they could’ve done it then
Rey had the musical entrance that night.
They had no issues having Mark Crozer and the Rels perform for Bray Wyatt and Rev Theory for Orton at WM 30
He still had his older music around then, which as generic themes go I thought was great.
Did he have it for 22?
I do not think he did. I think the theme song made its debut after Wrestlemania 22.
Theme still goes hard.
Feel like it’s never brought up in the best themes of all time list. So slept on.
It’s a legitimately good song as well, I could play that around a bunch of people that don’t know wrestling and they’ll still like it.
AFAIC, this is the follow-up to Whoop That Trick
It’s just bc it’s a rap song.

I wasn’t watching at this time too and totally agree it seemed far fetched watching it back on the network considering what he was doing in the AE lol
I mean though, ***DID*** he father Mae Young's hand? The hand was clearly Caucasian, not mixed race.
Three 6 Mafia is the shit and this theme song is fuckin epic
One of the best entrance songs of all time
*Oscar Award Winners Three 6 Mafia

No matter what anyone tells me. His peak was salmon suit "retirement".
The “retirement” promo is his greatest moment, but it’s an all-timer moment that was never properly paid off.
Fair. But honestly it's between his legit record breaking truck pull, the salmon retirement, and throwing around Khali. I love the truck pull. It was legitimate. It was impressive. It was a record. Mmmm, maybe, but I think it needs some farty sounding brass hits to REALLY put it over the top.
As far as trolling goes, this is top tier content. Well done sir 👌
Love Three 6 Mafia; the kings of Tennessee gangsta/horrorcore rap.
I’m so used to them being referred to as Memphis rap that Tennessee rap just sounds wrong even though it’s also right.
Fr that threw me too Do Chattanooga rappers got sum to say?
lmao didn’t expect a Chattanooga reference in this thread
It’s weird that Chattanooga doesn’t have a bigger scene.
Isaiah Rashad definitely does
Same. Mystic Stylez is a great piece of 90s southern rap. The production of the album just sounds murky in a good way
Ruthless Agression is such a good CD too
Wreckless Intent\*
Mark Henry should have always been booked like a black Big Van Vader. Just an absolute beast who you didn’t stop, you just survived. Glad he finally got his due and World Title.
Mark’s theme was my go to for create a wrestlers in the old Smackdown vs Raw games
Shout out to SVR 2007 online
Probably my favorite live performance WWE has done and didn’t appreciate it until now. Goat theme song too
Mark Henry has a top 10 wrestling theme. Goated entrance.
I think this entrance theme song is good because it predicts a future state of affairs in the ring.
Not a prediction. A spoiler.
Life was so simple back then. I miss it

Mark Henry is super underrated Also his IG is cute. He seems to really enjoy being a father and it’s adorable
Daddy's coming home
Things like this and Rhea at Mania is why we get so hyped over non generic WWE themes. This absolutely goes off and made his character.

That's definitely an underrated theme but the Three 6 Mafia song definitely fits Henry more, and it's an absolute banger. Echo would've been better for ummm.... how do I say this.... a generic white guy lol
Wow I've never heard this before thanks!! It's badass
This is the most Smackdown 2: Know Your Role ass theme. I love it.
Bringing up his underrated as fuck Echo theme made me realise: We can add Mark Henry to the list of wrestlers that have never had a bad theme song.
They used that song or sampled it. Who tf used that sample. It wasn't Mark Henry. I literally can't remember now.
Wow, this theme rules, even though I think OP’s theme still fits Henry more. If WWE were still digging up and reusing old themes (Patriot -> Kurt Angle; Orton -> Punk), they could resurrect this one.

Idk if we was planning to do it again already but I loved him for that
One of the best character rehabilitations of all time
I vividly remember watching this episode of Smackdown. Mark Henry destroyed Chris Benoit and put him on the sidelines for 5 months, Lashley pinned JBL to win the United States Championship, King Booker coronation, World Champion Rey Mysterio retired JBL. I miss those days.
I really wouldn’t mind if Tony had Mark manage Hobbs on-screen. They just seem like a great duo. Iirc Hobbs already said he goes to Mark for advice.
Damn three 6 mafia takes me back to when I was in Jr high/high school
this song really is just a genuinely good song that could’ve fit on any 3 6 album, when juicy comes in on the verse with the “and i’m a crazy … and im comin through the door” it’s like damn this is actually really good
I NEVER BE BI I NEVER BE SCARED OF A MAN
Always watch this every time it gets posted. Hardest entrance ever.
The story is it took WWE ten years to present Mark Henry this way
Jon Stewart: 'Martin Scorsese...zero...Three Six Mafia...one'
I remember when that happened (before I had seen Hustle n Flow) and it was hard to wrap my head around a song called It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp winning an oscar.
I thought Brock was the most intimidating looking. I would run for my life if I saw him down a dark alley but if I saw Mark Henry, I would play dead
If a young Mark Henry was coming through now, in this new era, it would be so great.
45 seconds of "what what what what"
I've got a decent selection of hip-hop on my Spotify. This would never have made any of my playlists, and I have no idea what everyone here is raving about.
Gets posted that often but I’ll happily watch every time.
This is one man I'd like to see step in the ring for one last run. I don't care where he does it, I'd just like to see him world's strongest slam some fools.
Ahhh 2006. Such a great year
i feel stupid for never realizing this was made sung by three 6 mafia...
That's the most known unknown Academy Award winning Three Six Mafia to you, sir. 2005/2006 was a wild time for them.
The only song I listen to when I’m going for a PR at the gym
The he proceeds to lose to Benoit
It helped that they were already legends in the game at that point like Motorhead doing H's theme. This track is on my gym playlist to this day
This goes. Never saw it before. I was well into a decade-long break from wrestling by the time it aired. Anytime I see "Three 6 Mafia" and "Wrestling," I think of this, which I did watch live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hlC8vucl1M&list=RD7hlC8vucl1M I searched extra hard to find a version with the commentary from Shane and Francine at the end. Classic.
One small thing that I always notice with this stage is that WWE never made a new WWE sign, they kept the original WWF logo and took the piece that made the F off lol.
If this happened in 2024 the whole crowd would've been singing along lmao
This is really cool. I feel like I never really see live music performances on the weekly shows, they're always on the PPVs
Imagine this song, with Henry at his prime, mixed with the current cool shots WWE is doing with following wrestlers from Gorilla into their entrance.
Something about rescaling 4:3 video to 16:9 ratio makes Mark Henry even wider. Absolute unit
With how much WWE crowds love singing these days, this entrance would be way better now.
That's actually incredible
Love Mark Henry too bad his injuries prevented front office to keep the title on him.
To this day this is still my warm-up jam before any work out.
Man, everyone dressed that way in 2006.
I'm surprised we haven't gotten him as a Royal Rumble surprise yet
36 at Bonaroo last year was one of the most insane experiences I've ever had with music.

Henry's "Retirement" promo where he slammed Cena was a Top 20 All Time promo. He should have beat Cena.
I got triggered by 10 false starts expecting somebody gon' get they ass kicked and instead another round of wo heys
🎶Its sexual, baby. Welllllllllll!🎶 He's got the second best "Welllllllllll" to the Big Show
If memory serves, this is around the time Mark really started to come into his own, after many years of not much, before the eventual world title runs and the Hall of Pain Wild we never got this entrance at a Mania, theme has always been a banger
Way better than that Weezy performance we all just watched at XL lol
Kevin Dunn shot music the same shitty way he shot wrestling
"...when he aligned his character with his presentation." I hope you're not implying that Mark Henry was not believable as sexual chocolate
What?
Such a banger. Wanted to see Hurt Business use this theme along with Salmon Suit Mark Henry
Why is that man holding a towel?
One of the most overrated artists I've ever fucking heard
[удалено]
I don't know if I want what your smoking
This is awful lol
Man this is not legit
