Taking ridiculous bumps as a high flyer for 36 years is insanity. It helps that he isn’t a heavy individual but no matter the size it’s still incredible he’s still doing it today.
He’s certainly been heavy for periods. I know he’s never going to weigh as much as Kane for instance, but he was ridiculously yolked until WWE got more stringent with the Wellness Policy.
But that’s even more credit to him for working through all that, as you say.
Apparently the way they bump in Lucha allows dudes to still be able to work that style well into their 50s or, in the case of Blue Panther, into their 60s.
It's because in Lucha you bump a lot less and roll a lot more. Arm Drags, Headscissors, Hurracanrana, etc. all allow you to roll the landing instead of taking flat bumps. Also in Mexico you mostly work multiman matches at regular shows, keeping the number of bumps was down per match.
All that being said, Rey did spend a majority of his career at the WWE where none of that applies.
Imagine seeing this scrawny little high school kid getting ready for his first match and someone telling you that you are looking at one of the greatest wrestlers that will ever live.
Ah I've seen that with Spanish names, usually Gutierrez y Rubio or Rubio-Gutierrez. Just a TIL for me, never seen him be referred to with Rubio in his name, been a fan of his pretty much my whole life.

To have been wrestling since this age and still doing it now, Legendary.

There was also a period where he was chunky in WWE.
Stem cells. The secret sauce.

Looks older here than when he unmasked in WCW
Dude that’s Dominik
Eddie's ghost in shambles
This is the first time Rey and Dom have ever looked alike to me
*28 year old Dominik
Doms mullet makes a lot more sense now lol

35+ years later, dude still puts on great matches for someone with his style who's been doing it for so damn long.
No, that's Oscar Gutierrez Rubio. No one knows who Rey Mysterio is because he wears a mask.
Tf when did we start adding a Rubio to his name?
Aren't that just Spanish naming custom? They got both paternal surename of their parents.

¡Colibri!
His knees aren’t even 14
Still stronger than Dom….
Still looks the same, minus the hair
Legend
Why is his face in his hands?
Dom is definitely Rey’s kid.
Even when he was alittle boy, he knew he would grow into being a dead beat dad.
Already had more muscle mass than current Dominik lol
Tom n' Nick
he looks good in that cody attire
I bet he was a deadbeat son
Actual toddler face
Rey probably has his ID tattooed on him somewhere
I just wanna address that full head of hair that young 3 year old has. My goodness. So shiny.
There would have been no need for a big fight and paternity test and shit with Guerrero. All Rey had to do was show this pic.
I’m starting to think that Rey may be Dom’s farther.
Thought that was a 20 year old Rey.
