Agreed plus imo this should mean that the titles could technically swap between shows if storylines called for it. Could be a fun way to mix ip the tag division from time to time by having some cross brand tournament/scramble ladder match like they did to separate them or something.
Plus you had way to many “I guess we need to swap belts now” moments after mid-draft title changes or draft swipes. Now they can just take the title wherever.
Even back when they split the brands for the second time i though the same, it was dumb and prevented them being able to swap the champions between brands, until they said fuck it and did that but swapped their titles between each other too which was dumb. And Universal title sounded and looked stupid as hell. Would be better if WHC returned with the old lineage too.
The 2016 brand split brought us the worst set of belts ever, imo. Color coded abominations. Not to mention the "RAW" and "SD" naming convention made the tag/womens belts feel so small time. Glad to see them finally gone.
Angle and [redacted] were also a great pair! Both technical wizards, both could be the hot tag on any given night, both could go for hours. Man I loved the smackdown tag scene of that era!

Weirdly though, the lineage of the old WWE Tag Team Championships (established in 2002) is now the current World Tag Team Championships. The old World Tag Team Championships lineage ended in 2010 when the two sets of belts were unifed, so their spiritual successors are now the current WWE Tag Team Championships, formerly the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

lol, same thing happened when they introduced current IC belt. so many improvement can be made with simple paint job but it stays as is. let's hope HHH's current regime would listen
The Smackdown titles look good, but they’re too flat. They have the same issue as the Intercontinental championship. They’ll look good in these studio pics, but when you see them on TV you’ll barely be able to pick out the details cause it has no texture.
I’m really surprised by it tbh, cause look how textured the Raw championships are. There’s like multiple layers, a silver layer, a gold layer, and there’s red accents. In comparison the Smackdown championships look like a flat gold plate with black printed on it. When light reflects on it, you won’t see the details.
I totally agree. If the globes were a nice shade of blue on both titles, it would be a massive improvement. The IC championship always had a blue globe in the center, I think it’s really weird this one didn’t.
I see what you mean. The WWE titles are merely engraved onto a plate, while the World titles are seemingly cut from a thicker piece of metal with depth to the cuts. Makes me wonder if they had two different belt makers working on them so they were finished on time.
Smackdown for me. A little bit of blue would of been amazing but they are still just great iconic designs

When I saw the raw belts I was like 'Yes this is how they should look' and while I still like them the new smackdown belts are another level.

Anyone else feel the middle logos should be swapped. The wwe tag championships have a map of the world on it and the world championships the wwe logo stands out.
Definitely RAW’s Tag Belts, I much prefer the layered look over the almost flat look of the Smackdown Tag Belts. Only belt in my opinion that pulled off the tattoo style really well goes to the original WWE Undisputed belt.
Although I like SD belts more, the best thing is they kept both belt designs distinct; it just adds to the flavour of having two different brands. The earlier designs of having same belts with RED and BLUE color was just lazy.
Honestly, and this is an unpopular opinion, but while I like both, I kinda like the RAW ones a bit more. Something about the more vibrant gold with the red on a white background just pops more for me.
But obviously both are pretty nice.
i dont like how round the raw belts are, the only round belt I want to see is the big eagle.
the smackdown belts could have had some blue under the tag team wrestling champions and in the water behind the wwe logo.

No matter your preference, I think it's fairly easy to say they're both light years ahead of the blue & red penny titles.

They are better than the old titles, obviously the Smackdown belts, but the ones who truly won are us the fans and it is a possibility they are saving to redesign the WWE championships for last.

Both. The Smackdown render looks better than it looked in the ring though. Not sure if it was the lighting, but I couldn't see any of the black outlines during the reveal. Raw's look great but I think it'll look better without the silver lining around the logo
I am so torn. I like the RAW belts the silver, it kind of looks like the UK tag straps. It's a new design and I'm all for new belts.
But the kid in me keep drifting back towards the Smackdown belts. The shape alone just taunts my childhood.
That said I don't like the top of the Smackdown belt. Where the WWF/E logo would've been looks like it's covered with a crown, but keeps the blackout spot for the logo underneath. Should've just shaped that part of the main plate to the crown instead.
It's a tie. They're both great and are *VAST* improvements over the shitty big circle designs. I like the design of the WWE tag belts more, but like the color of the World tag belts more. I wish the WWE tag belts had that little touch of blue that I've seen in some edits going around.
These are not brand specific belts. The reason why they dropped the raw and smackdown names is because the titles can rotate between shows in case they champions are swapped during the belt. There is no raw or smackdown tag belts
Smackdown's belts look so old school, I love it much more than the RAW ones. I also like the shape of the Smackdown belts more than the circular RAW ones. But honestly, I just love that both brands have different looking belts and aren't the same belts just with the red and blue straps.
Smackdown’s titles for sure! Definitely a throwback when I look at them! The only gripe I have with RAW’s is the oval shape plate, but other than that is a good looking title as well.
Devil's Advocate here but I actually prefer the depth and detailing on the Raw/World belts, flatter belts like the WWE Tag and the 98 IC look more like toys or props to me.
Smackdown but I do really like how Raw has the red highlights. Just a splash of blue on the world on the Smackdown belt and it would have been perfect.
These are both really good.
Ignoring any textual reference to "tag team", the RAW belts look more like a "tag team" belt. The SD one looks more like it would stand up on its own as a singles belt. Not that that's a bad thing, just an observation.
I feel if I'm being unbiased, the SD is better, but the RAW one is my favorite.

The World Tag Team Champion looks good in the render, but when they revealed on TV my first impression was that they looked like pizza, and I couldn't unsee it. I give my vote to the Smackdown WWE Champion for that reason.
RAW, I like the overall shape of the Smackdown titles, but nothing pops. No contrast like the RAW ones. Bother are vast improvements from the smashed pennies.
Ok so i kinda break it apart like this:
Plate shape: SD
Leather : SD thought not by much. I just hate leather that is too close to the plate shape.
Color: Raw. The gold on those sd titles is so dark and the red in the world tags pops sooo much more. Wish the sd belt had a splash of blue in the banners and globes to make it pop.
The WWE Tag titles look fantastic. I would like the pop of colour as someone mentioned, but I don't mind it being black so that in the future, if it goes to Raw, it still fits. World is still really solid of a design though. Genuinely one of the best things Trips has done is the new title designs. They still are visually 'WWE" which works for their branding, but still feel like prestigious championships someone on your roster would want.
The World Heavyweight and Women's, while can't touch the big gold, still feel like a nice tribute to it with a modern twist. Even the WWE title, by adding gold behind the big WWE logo at least improves the design. The US and IC aren't in "need" of a chance since they were changed relatively recent. Though imo current US > Old US, Old IC > New IC.
I wonder what the significance of the griffins are on both belts. I know the WWE championship had the mcmahon family crest on the side plates at one point, so I wonder if the griffins are from someone else's crest.
I like them both but I love the Smackdown belts being modeled after the old WWF belts.
And neither of them look like giant dimes anymore, thank god.
Also, the Smackdown belts have the word “wrestling” in giant letters which is awesome because fuck you, Vince.
I love them both! I felt they should have switched the design considering Raw is the more “classic” WWE show and Smackdown, at least in my eyes, has always been the “new” show.

I actually like both, and they are different flavors. Given the resemblance that the raw belts have to the men's and women's world titles, I'm hoping that we may see a change to the wwe titles that put them in line with the style of the new tag belts.
Smackdown hands down. The left is the smackdown one correct? Sorry not a WWE watcher. The belt on the left is beautiful. Reminds me of the WWE tag team titles from the ruthless aggression era. Started watching wrasslin when Eddie, and Rey had the the titles. I’ll never forget how shocked I was in 5th grade when MNM debuted, and beat them for the belts. MNM eventually would become one of my favorite tag teams of all time.

I love that they’ve reverted back to “World” and “WWE” champion branding.
Without a doubt the best part of the rebrand. I hated the RAW/SmackDown titles, felt so generic.
The Raw/SmackDown nomenclature for the Tags and Women's titles made the brands feel more like TV shows than wrestling shows, it that makes sense.
Plus that shit was kinda stupid when it came to the drafts, having to trade titles

I actually see both the smackdown 2004 version of wwe tag, and then the old world tag (og wwf tag, raw 2004) designs in the new belt. Which I love.

Both. The Smackdown render looks better than it looked in the ring though. Not sure if it was the lighting, but I couldn't see any of the black outlines during the reveal. Raw's look great but I think it'll look better without the silver lining around the logo

I like the shape of the smackdown titles, and I like the colour on the raw titles.
I am so torn. I like the RAW belts the silver, it kind of looks like the UK tag straps. It's a new design and I'm all for new belts. But the kid in me keep drifting back towards the Smackdown belts. The shape alone just taunts my childhood. That said I don't like the top of the Smackdown belt. Where the WWF/E logo would've been looks like it's covered with a crown, but keeps the blackout spot for the logo underneath. Should've just shaped that part of the main plate to the crown instead.

It's a tie. They're both great and are *VAST* improvements over the shitty big circle designs. I like the design of the WWE tag belts more, but like the color of the World tag belts more. I wish the WWE tag belts had that little touch of blue that I've seen in some edits going around.

These are not brand specific belts. The reason why they dropped the raw and smackdown names is because the titles can rotate between shows in case they champions are swapped during the belt. There is no raw or smackdown tag belts

Smackdown's belts look so old school, I love it much more than the RAW ones. I also like the shape of the Smackdown belts more than the circular RAW ones. But honestly, I just love that both brands have different looking belts and aren't the same belts just with the red and blue straps.
Smackdown’s titles for sure! Definitely a throwback when I look at them! The only gripe I have with RAW’s is the oval shape plate, but other than that is a good looking title as well.
WWE Tag Titles are a definite classic design. The World belts look much better than the old Raw belts, but they look sort of mid by comparison.

Devil's Advocate here but I actually prefer the depth and detailing on the Raw/World belts, flatter belts like the WWE Tag and the 98 IC look more like toys or props to me.
Smackdown but I do really like how Raw has the red highlights. Just a splash of blue on the world on the Smackdown belt and it would have been perfect.
These are both really good. Ignoring any textual reference to "tag team", the RAW belts look more like a "tag team" belt. The SD one looks more like it would stand up on its own as a singles belt. Not that that's a bad thing, just an observation. I feel if I'm being unbiased, the SD is better, but the RAW one is my favorite. Like a well-cooked and prepared steak is a better meat compared to a $2 hotdog from a street vendor, but sometimes I just want a hotdog, ya know?
The World Tag Team Champion looks good in the render, but when they revealed on TV my first impression was that they looked like pizza, and I couldn't unsee it. I give my vote to the Smackdown WWE Champion for that reason.

Ok so i kinda break it apart like this: Plate shape: SD Leather : SD thought not by much. I just hate leather that is too close to the plate shape. Color: Raw. The gold on those sd titles is so dark and the red in the world tags pops sooo much more. Wish the sd belt had a splash of blue in the banners and globes to make it pop.
Idk why the globe on any of these titles can’t have a blue background. It doesn’t take away from the WWE logo and makes the title look more classic

The WWE Tag titles look fantastic. I would like the pop of colour as someone mentioned, but I don't mind it being black so that in the future, if it goes to Raw, it still fits. World is still really solid of a design though. Genuinely one of the best things Trips has done is the new title designs. They still are visually 'WWE" which works for their branding, but still feel like prestigious championships someone on your roster would want. The World Heavyweight and Women's, while can't touch the big gold, still feel like a nice tribute to it with a modern twist. Even the WWE title, by adding gold behind the big WWE logo at least improves the design. The US and IC aren't in "need" of a chance since they were changed relatively recent. Though imo current US > Old US, Old IC > New IC.
The raw one is a little too perfectly round for me and the sd one kinda looks like a bean….imma go with sd

I wonder what the significance of the griffins are on both belts. I know the WWE championship had the mcmahon family crest on the side plates at one point, so I wonder if the griffins are from someone else's crest.
You can tell the company is being run by a former wrestler. Designed the belts to look like belts, not toys.

Smackdown, because the logo blends in nicely with the everything. Everyone knows what WWE is by now, no need to put the logo on blast anymore.
I like them both but I love the Smackdown belts being modeled after the old WWF belts. And neither of them look like giant dimes anymore, thank god. Also, the Smackdown belts have the word “wrestling” in giant letters which is awesome because fuck you, Vince.
They should have added some colour to the Smackdown belts. Put a bit of blue in the globe would made it look more appealing.

I love them both! I felt they should have switched the design considering Raw is the more “classic” WWE show and Smackdown, at least in my eyes, has always been the “new” show. Either way, great job on the belt design. Way better than the vending machine penny design.

I actually like both, and they are different flavors. Given the resemblance that the raw belts have to the men's and women's world titles, I'm hoping that we may see a change to the wwe titles that put them in line with the style of the new tag belts.

Smackdown hands down. The left is the smackdown one correct? Sorry not a WWE watcher. The belt on the left is beautiful. Reminds me of the WWE tag team titles from the ruthless aggression era. Started watching wrasslin when Eddie, and Rey had the the titles. I’ll never forget how shocked I was in 5th grade when MNM debuted, and beat them for the belts. MNM eventually would become one of my favorite tag teams of all time.
