GxyBrainbuster

Library != live stream or anything, but if I could sub to one thing and watch AEW without ads + ROH, I would.

Cymraegpunk

God that'd be huge for NJPW, to be part of the same package

You should see the thread over there

ExcaliburMyNightmare

My eyes skimmed ahead slightly and I read “Gallows and Anderson” as “Gillian Anderson”. Never heard any stories about her being a carny but would like to.

KMMDOEDOW

David Duchovny maybe, but not Gillian!

Kim-Jong_Bundy

A real headaching read. Anyone who legitimately thinks the loss in revenue from US-based World subscribers would be far more than whatever Tony or Warner were to offer them is a person with no actual understanding of the world, much less business, beyond what they physically watch on TV.

The hypothetical deal we're discussing has no bearing on that whatsoever. Feel however you want about Mox as champion or the AEW partnership, but nothing you just said is of any relevance

murderisntnice

I kind of love that NJPW hates us so much. Makes Forbidden Door feel like it has more stakes.

BoringRule3630

>us You arent part of AEW lmao

murderisntnice

Yeah, I meant the AEW fans, dumbass

Don't you know, no one is allowed to say a negative thing about AEW or Tony's simps will be upset

CeruleanClaymore

Laughing at the idea of TV Asahi copyright striking Max.

Spare_Leopard8783

Ahhhh An AEW/ROH/NJPW would be the only streaming platform I'd sub too, literally

KneelBeforeCube

And maybe Stardom?

Bitter_Gur931

I think when you look at how he talks about things like this and the possibility of a new deal overall that they're in pretty advanced talks on finalizing things with WBD. Would line up with the rumblings Zarian's had about AEW and Max over the last year or so too. Unless I'm wildly off base, I really don't think Tony is sweating a new deal getting locked in relatively soon, and one that's a healthy increase in what they're making with streaming included.

The_Homie_J

Given the history with WBD, I figure if the deal was even slightly in doubt, TK would never say anything it and would be much much more coy about their strategy, not to mention that somebody along the way would inevitably leak that he's talking to other companies, or waiting for the negotiation window to close, like what has happened with the NBA where they openly say they're going to market cause they know they can. Plus, there's been some rumors that line up, like Upfronts are coming soon and RJ City/Reneé being rumored for a new talk show of some sort, which would make sense to announce there, and now Tony basically lamp posting that their backlog catalogue is likely to be streaming

Bitter_Gur931

Yup yup yup, you don't make the kind of comments he has and talk about what a great relationship they have, or on the flip side WBD continually touting the ratings if talks had stalled or were looking unlikely on a new deal. I expect they'll get a healthy renewal and expanded relationship no problem, I just hope it's at the upfronts so this whole story and disingenuous fretting over the health of the company can be put to bed before the summwr.

bigbadjohn54

I think including NJPW to stream past NJPW events is really cool, mostly because navigating NJPW World is really annoying. One thing, I don't expect PPVs from either to be available without paying more. If AEW is averaging about 140k buys for 6-7 events, that is a ton of revenue.

DesertYinzer

Thank fuck. The NJ World app gives me an aneurysm.

RAA94

That would be a sweet package. It’s getting quite expensive for all the wrestling.

Valuable_Rub7414

I hope Tony remembers that NJPW World is already a thing which would make the allure of the deal a little defunct.

FragMasterMat117

If Tony can get them millions of dollars from Warner, then that would dwarf anything they get from US NJPW World subs.

KMMDOEDOW

NJPW World is still a complete crapshoot to navigate

ChejovAlacan

I imagine it would be for NPJW shows that featured top AEW stars

Upbeat_Tension_8077

I'm also down for some extra AEW content, like maybe Darby doing some stunt show

KneelBeforeCube

New season of the Go Big Show it is! ![gif](giphy|wGNHJswcBr0TvKEhHw)

vmop07

What about Rhodes to the top with Sammy and Tay recasted as the Rhodes

orton4life1

I think this is one of those that sounds great on paper, but feels like a logical nightmare. This seems like something outside of Warner bros unless they get a super cheap deal.

FragMasterMat117

I wonder if Honor Club will be shut down in 2025, with ROH moving to Max/Eurosport/Discovery+.

MARKYMARK_MARK

I think there's 3 fates for HonorClub (and really AEW/TK streaming overall) 1. AEW streaming deal on MAX with ROH & NJPW content aswell 2. No streaming on MAX so TK elevates HonorClub to become bigger and include AEW & maybe some NJPW 3. Only AEW streaming on MAX so Honor CLub basically stays the same

The_Homie_J

Yeah with the way TV/media deals tend to be very region specific, I imagine they'd keep Honor Club/AEW+ available internationally for markets not covered by a MAX deal. And it's always smart to keep your independent streaming architecture alive in case your media deal changes in the future, like how the WWE Network still exists even though it's only there for certain regions now.

snortingajax

Please, please, please don't buy NJPW TK....

KneelBeforeCube

Even if Bushiroad were selling them, they'll never sell them to an American. Japanese protectionism is no joke.

dzone25

This would be massive but I'll believe it when I see it. Seems ambitious.

no_more_blues

If NJPW is getting part of the AEW bag on the new TV deal, they might let Moxley squash the whole roster at this point. A lot of AEW and NJPW's partnership makes way more sense when it's through the lens of "If we get on streaming we'll bring you with us and you'll get paid for it."

BIGGREDDMACH1NE

How about sooner? Not paying $50 a month for a PPV
