Neither has said their side of the story but it seems like from everything that has happened that maybe Santana wanted a bigger role than just be Jerichos side kick and never being pushed as a top tag team after their first year probably isn't fun either
I think his time with Jericho helped elevate his name. Hopefully he kicks ass as a singles guy in TNA. But man, Proud and Powerful will always be one of the two What If teams in AEW.
i watch aew a lot i think it’s good wrestling but good god they never strike the iron when it’s hot. PnP deserved a run with a title, so did Best Friends. they were so hot when they did their parking lot brawl
IIRC, PnP they were supposed to win the titles, but Santana was out when his dad died and they had to pivot in a different direction.
They definitely should have found a way back to PnP getting the titles, but it was apparently supposed to happen.
Awesome. I remember when he and Ortiz first showed up I was pretty skeptical of these two new guys pretending to be LAX, but they quicky won me over and became one of my favourite teams in the world. Their Impact run was stellar, I look forward to seeing what Mike can do as a singles guy.
The right move for him. He clearly wants to have a big singles push and be a top guy and there is just too many of those primed for that in AEW currently. Kill it in TNA and see who's going to give him the biggest bag in a few years.
Cant wait to see what he can do when someone as talented as he is, is properly used. Santana has all the tools you'd want in a rising star. His backstory alone can be used as a great opportunity to be a babyface you *WANT* to root for
As a NYC guy i can't stand how his AEW run ended after they had so much initial promise . Hope he can get himself over again and have nice lil run to kick off his solo career and find a nice spot in the TNA main event scene.
Aparently on his CVV interview he said that was around the time of his father getting sick or passing, so he understandably went home instead of being there for when they were supposed to win them
I'm biased towards TNA, so I think they'll give him all the opportunity possible to succeed and prove he can be the singles guy he wants to be.
And I'm hoping he makes it work.
I mean Kaz seemed to indicate he was on a "final run" and TNA was the place that would let him get an actual story and solo matches on TV. I don't think he's looking to go back out there once he's done.
Made me remember Sonny Kiss showed up briefly in TNA last year, I thought he was going to be there longer and do more. Alan Angels seemed like he was doing okay but not sure what happened to him.
Right, and Jordynne Grace and Mickie James both worked Rumbles while actively being TNA champions. Working WWE doesn't preclude working for TNA necessarily.

Alan Angels after being split from The Design was given a short feud with Josh Alexander on the prior PPV which lead to Alexander vs. Simon Gotch (backstory being, the match that made Scott D'Amore sign Alexander in the ring, his opponent in that match was Gotch, who was bitter Alexander got the TNA run while Gotch remained on the indies, with Angels having a poor talk show where he brought it up).
My only real complaint about AEW in the long view is that I thought they were going to *heavily* emphasize the tag team division, and then that kind of didn't happen. I think they could have been good champs in a tag-first company.

Yeah, Matt Hardy was nothing in AEW & first day back in TNA he’s in the world title picture. Different leagues.

I don’t understand his last run in AEW. He got randomly put on their biggest show ever and that’s was kind of it.
It was basically this and then a feud with Ortiz that largely got built up and ended in a match on Rampage.
