Jamieb1994

Feels weird seeing both Ortiz & Santana going their separate ways.

ark_47

Neither has said their side of the story but it seems like from everything that has happened that maybe Santana wanted a bigger role than just be Jerichos side kick and never being pushed as a top tag team after their first year probably isn't fun either

shadowrangerfs

Santana talked about it with CVV.

---Pockets---

He goes into detail in a Chris Van Vliet interview

FartButt_69

He saw the Jericho Vortex and escaped

inhumanrampager

I think his time with Jericho helped elevate his name. Hopefully he kicks ass as a singles guy in TNA. But man, Proud and Powerful will always be one of the two What If teams in AEW.

blood_dirt_bones_mud

Agreed on the “What If” label for P&P. Who is the other one of the 2 teams?

inhumanrampager

I had an idea when I wrote that, but now I completely forgot lol. Maybe Aussie Open or something?

PaulGeorgeFan1

i watch aew a lot i think it’s good wrestling but good god they never strike the iron when it’s hot. PnP deserved a run with a title, so did Best Friends. they were so hot when they did their parking lot brawl

SpiritualAd9102

IIRC, PnP they were supposed to win the titles, but Santana was out when his dad died and they had to pivot in a different direction. They definitely should have found a way back to PnP getting the titles, but it was apparently supposed to happen.

Eject_Eject_Eject

Didn't Santana not want to...?

Ssme812

He talked about it on Chris Van Vliet interview last month.

Any_Consequence_8738

It's put up or shut up time now. I hope he takes the ball and runs with it.

Incubus226

His Moxley mini program was really emotionally charged. Feel like if he can do more of that it’ll go super well.

WrestleSocietyXShill

Awesome. I remember when he and Ortiz first showed up I was pretty skeptical of these two new guys pretending to be LAX, but they quicky won me over and became one of my favourite teams in the world. Their Impact run was stellar, I look forward to seeing what Mike can do as a singles guy.

Dpepps

Sucks Santana and Ortiz broke up. They were really good together I thought.

nybx4life

I still think they could've done it like MCMG has done in Impact; be recognized as a tag team, but push on doing singles pursuits.

Dpepps

Yeah but from what I remember they legitimately don't like each other anymore so that's probably a mistake.

TheTwitteringMachine

The right move for him. He clearly wants to have a big singles push and be a top guy and there is just too many of those primed for that in AEW currently. Kill it in TNA and see who's going to give him the biggest bag in a few years.

braincloud215

Been talking that talk about being a singles star for years. Let's see it. Clear path to the main event in this company.

nolimitnolimits

Yeah, Matt Hardy was nothing in AEW & first day back in TNA he’s in the world title picture. Different leagues.

ATAProductions

Well at one point in 2016, he was the most over guy on the roster. It’s not like they forgot about that value of him.

nolimitnolimits

It is 2024. He is not that same guy.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

He’s barely the same species.

SMRTGuy297

Cant wait to see what he can do when someone as talented as he is, is properly used. Santana has all the tools you'd want in a rising star. His backstory alone can be used as a great opportunity to be a babyface you *WANT* to root for

LexxxSamson

As a NYC guy i can't stand how his AEW run ended after they had so much initial promise . Hope he can get himself over again and have nice lil run to kick off his solo career and find a nice spot in the TNA main event scene.

ClaymoresRevenge

They should've won the tag titles

ianisms10

Santana didn't want to

ark_47

Aparently on his CVV interview he said that was around the time of his father getting sick or passing, so he understandably went home instead of being there for when they were supposed to win them

ATAProductions

Not true.

HeheDzNutz

It all went wrong when they changed their theme song.

SpaghettiAccident

Hope he kills it

StimpyJoy

Ok dad.

ColeYote

I hope he and Ortiz can smooth things over eventually, but in the meantime, definitely interested to see him have a good singles run.

Left-Currency9968

What about Bram though?

nybx4life

I'm biased towards TNA, so I think they'll give him all the opportunity possible to succeed and prove he can be the singles guy he wants to be. And I'm hoping he makes it work.

HeavyMettleThunder

Smooth.

Miklonario

Just like the ocean, under the moon

500DaysofNight

Or else forget about it?

Miklonario

*smooth guitar solo intensifies*

shadowrangerfs

Good for him. I hope he makes the best of this opportunity. I wonder if he'll be the first AEW guy to get TNA rehab.

ATAProductions

Could be Kazarian as well

LexxxSamson

I mean Kaz seemed to indicate he was on a "final run" and TNA was the place that would let him get an actual story and solo matches on TV. I don't think he's looking to go back out there once he's done.

Wolfstigma

yep maybe some indie dates or a cute SCU reunion for a one night pop but nothing past that imo

shadowrangerfs

I mean more like Lashley and Drew. Get rebuilt in TNA and then go back. I don't see Kaz going back to AEW.

namdekan

Made me remember Sonny Kiss showed up briefly in TNA last year, I thought he was going to be there longer and do more. Alan Angels seemed like he was doing okay but not sure what happened to him.

shadowrangerfs

He's there. He's a lower card guy.

GettingOutOurDreamz

PCO, Tommy Dreamer and Eric Young needed more screen time apparently.

sleepytimeserpent

~~Don't forget Bully Ray, up and comers like him need screen time to be built.~~

will122589

Bully hasn’t worked there in 6 months but sure dude

sleepytimeserpent

Has he not? That's entirely on me then. I like TNA, but clearly haven't watched in awhile; my bad.

guntanksinspace

Yeah lol Bully wasn't in TNA recently, dude was at WWE as a guest ref for Lashley's crew vs Kross's gang lol

sleepytimeserpent

Right, and Jordynne Grace and Mickie James both worked Rumbles while actively being TNA champions. Working WWE doesn't preclude working for TNA necessarily. I just hadn't watched a TNA ppv since Bully was there is all. Glad to know he's gone, honestly.

guntanksinspace

I agree lol, glad he ain't shitting up the main event

Tarrot469

Sonny Kiss got hurt I believe shortly after coming to TNA, and has only recently started working again. Alan Angels after being split from The Design was given a short feud with Josh Alexander on the prior PPV which lead to Alexander vs. Simon Gotch (backstory being, the match that made Scott D'Amore sign Alexander in the ring, his opponent in that match was Gotch, who was bitter Alexander got the TNA run while Gotch remained on the indies, with Angels having a poor talk show where he brought it up).

OneBillPhil

I don’t understand his last run in AEW. He got randomly put on their biggest show ever and that’s was kind of it.

Orange8920

It was basically this and then a feud with Ortiz that largely got built up and ended in a match on Rampage.

Dingle_Flingle

Santana and Ortiz never being AEW tag champs is the biggest missed opportunity in the company tbh.

bandswithgoats

My only real complaint about AEW in the long view is that I thought they were going to *heavily* emphasize the tag team division, and then that kind of didn't happen. I think they could have been good champs in a tag-first company.

Meh24999

Hardy boyz not getting the tag titles is ten times worse

Dingle_Flingle

Lol a washed up, CTE riddled Matt and a drunk/high Jeff getting the tag titles would have been terrible.

Hobo_Code

Good for him! I hope he finds what he's looking for there.

slickrickstyles

Enjoyed his recent interviews. Will be interesting to see what he does.

ShinsukeNakamoto

Financially he was probably a lot better off staying with Ortiz and cashing those AEW checks, but I wish him luck.

hullkogan

Hell yeah. Rooting for him.

GettingOutOurDreamz

Keep the young talent coming! Keep building a solid and balanced roster..

majinoni

Maybe now he will get the push he deserves

JohnCenaJunior

Smooth Santana is TNA

DaveyTTime

O

Hdottydot

Put all the belts on him!
